Default 400 Calorie Fix

Has anyone heard of or tried Prevention Magazine's 400 Calorie Fix Diet? You are suppose to eat 4-400 cal meals/snacks per day for a total of 1600 calories. 400 calories is suppose to keep you full from one meal to the next and helps prevent overeating.

I know nothing specific about this diet, but I have found personally that if I eat the right calories, between 300-500 every 3-4 hours is about right to keep me from being hungry and hit my calories targets.

I doubt there is anything magic about the 400 calorie number, if you eat 400 calories of junk you will likely still be hungry an hour later. But if it is healthy calories 400 isn't a bad average number to think of for a "meal"

It is based on their Flat Belly Plan and very healthy. You cannot eat just anything for the 400 calories. It's close to the Mediterrean diet.

I like this "style" of diet moderation better. If I have 3 small meals and 2 small snacks, I am always obsessing over what I'm going to have next, even 1 minute after the last meal.

Now I have 3 meals a day and one snack, aiming for 400 -500 for each meal.

This is interesting. Sometimes I like to sit down and eat a larger meal (600-700 calories) just to have that satisfied feeling of being full. On most days though I eat 6 small "snack" meals per day.

The great thing about counting calories is that we have that flexibility to try new ways of eating

I like this plan too. I read it in Prevention and found this review...http://www.dietsinreview.com/diets/400-calorie-fix/

I like to be just a little hungry. It makes me feel a little sharper, a little more manic. But it has to be a little hungry. Real hunger is very bad, and I don't let that happen even if I have to go over calories (which rarely happens).

So I do the opposite. I dribble calories into my body all day long, 50-200 at a time. I probably eat something every 2 hours, even if it's just 5 baby carrots or 5 frozen strawberries. Again, though, different plans for different folks. It's all trial and error until we find what works for us.

I think this is one of those "whatever works for you and that you can stay on place with is best" things but I feel strongly that when it comes to weight loss, there is no one plan that is universally right for every one.

I can't let myself get even a little hungry. If I do it's like I can't get full and I end up over eating. I agree it's all trial and error to you find what works and what works for one doesn't work for all.

I work with a girl who can eat a bowl of cereal and she feels full for hours. I eat a bowl of cereal and I'm hungry in an hour. I must have my protein.
