Default Fibromyalgia #191

Good morning. Will start a new thread. Hope I can find somebody to "sticky" it for us. If not, I guess we will do what we used to do, won't we lol

Mima - hope you had fun at the birthday. Also, hope you got your toe fixed up. Those ingrown nails must hurt. Why is your toenail "icky"? Hope you don't have a fungal infection. Applesby's meal sounds and looks good from what I see on TV. Don't go there much. Well, mostly, we don't eat out much. I seem to have allergies to additives and when I get them, my tongue feels like it is swollen.

Tammy - Hope you feel better today. Hate when the sinuses act up. Painful, they can be. Knees as well. Didn't even know mine hurt until I started walking down the stairs last night. Mine are usually a FM thing, although I do have OA in them as well.

I am ok again. 3 days of that heart going wonky was quite enough for me. I could not go to work yesterday. It kicked up again on Thursday night around 9:00 p.m. and lasted until after 3:00 a.m. before it went back into rhythum. I am pretty certain it was the MSG that caused the Palpitations. Don't know why it did what it did on Monday that was Atrial Fib. Feels like your heart is going to pop right out of your chest, and it is beating sooooooo fast. It was fine yesterday.

Well, we are going to Edmonton this morning., Hope you all have a good weekend, and Tammy, maybe just give Kate a call and see that she is ok. Thanks.

Anne, most of this day has been yucky with the sinus stuff. I did manage to get some things done around here, but I sure didn't feel up to much of anything. Sure hope your heart keeps doing the right thing!

I just got off the phone with Kate. She is fine! Lots of visitors this time of year, so she has been busy. It was great talking to her for a few minutes. I am ready to go back down there where it's warm!

If anyone watches the Miss America pageant, check out Miss Ohio. She's from a small town near me, and her aunt is one of my friends from the Y.

Tomorrow is our pastor's last day, so I am sure it will be an emotional one. I hope I feel good enough to go.

Default Hey There

Thanks for the new thread ,Happy.. It has been a cloudy day here. We didn't get as much of the rain that was predicted. That's the way it usually is.
I am still having a problem getting back into a good eating plan..
I went to Dr. Tuesday expecting to get my knee brace. It didn't fit. Now they have ordered a custom one. I wonder about the whole thing. They took measurements . Maybe they would rather sell a more expensive one.
The knee pain is less with the two injections I have had.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend...Joanne

Well, at least I'm glad your knee is hurting less now. I always hated wearing those braces, esp. the ones with the little holes for the kneecap.

We are snowed in. Really got dumped on this weekend. I don't know if any of you followed the snow/ice storm that was traveling across the US & along I40 over the last few days but I live 1 mile south of I40! We are home bound and feel blessed to even have power right now. There are 188,000 in OK without. Hubby came home at noon Friday and I've been cooped up in the house with him ever since! ha But ... I think I either have a small blood clot or a serious vein infection in my leg and he has been real good at making me keep it up and waiting on me to make sure I do. (He's driving me nuts!)

Anne, hope you don't have anymore heart flare ups. They're so scary and there's nothing you can do but hope you get through them. And Tammy, hope your sinuses get better. That stuff snot fun either!

Hi Mima, Candice and Kate ... LOVE ALL YOU GUYS! (sittin' here watchin' late nite TV ... boo - nothing' good.)

Good morning everyone! Long time but I'm still here. Thanks for the phone call Tammy! I guess I needed you to rattle my cage so I would get back on track. I have had so much company these past couple weeks that I haven't made time for my usual stuff. I am also cooking like crazy and not watching my diet so I am sure I will need to start my diet again very, very soon! These two friends from Cape Cod are leaving tomorrow morning but I have another couple that will be stopping by next weekend. They might not be staying though as they are on their way to south Florida....but then again.....
Thanks for asking for me though...it's wonderful that we care about each other. Tammy, you know you are always welcomed to visit here anytime. Not so sure you'd like the weather we are having today though. Cloudy, windy, damp and cold....and by cold I mean around 56 degrees (which is cold to us)! We have rain due for the next couple days. It's still beats shoveling snow though!
Joanne, sorry to hear you are still having issues with your knee. Sounds like you are just sick and tired of dealing with all these professionals who aren't doing their job too efficiently. I was just having this conversation with my GF here about how little patience I seem to have now as I get older. I find I tend to expect accountability from people I get services from now and God help them if they don't get it right. I have a feeling this is the new me too.....and it's not going to get any better as I age! Watch out!
Meme, I see your activity on Facebook when I go in there and sorry I haven't been more active with you. I just don't do that much there except play a few games on occasion. I haven't had any time to do that either lately. I know what you are saying about the weather and feeling lousy though. I have been having a difficult time myself and I do think it has something to do with the changes in the weather. I also haven't been as active as usual because of all this entertaining so I really need to just put myself first and get back on track. I tend to be overly attentive when company is here and I need to make some adjustments in that department. Of course, you do all realize that they use my computer as well to do their stuff so it's like we all need to take turns in my office! Oh well, tomorrow is the last day and hopefully I will not be overwhelmed with guests for another week! Give me time to get the housed cleaned, the sheets washed and the fridge cleaned out for the next round! I did learn how to make a new candy from my GF while she was here though....buttercrunch! Just what I need, huh?
Hope all is well with everyone. I will try to be more mindful about my participation.....I am going to need all your support to get back on track after all this, okay?? I think we all need to have a whine session once in a while! Thanks for asking for me ladies!!

It was great talking to you for a few minutes the other night. Also super great to know that you were ok! I would take 56 degrees right now. Not sure what it is right now, but yesterday it was 12. We haven't had any new snow since last week sometime. I told Tim that I had called, and he said I should just go back down and spend some more time at the Disney Resort and come over and bug you. AND eat a muffin. LOL Those were SO good! Calorie free too, right?? That buttercrunch is calorie free as well, I'm sure. Whine sessions are good for the soul!!

I'm up and ready to head to the Y. I need to change my tracker thingy. I lost another pound, and by golly, I'm moving that butterfly the right direction every chance that I get!!

Have a great day and a great week ladies!!

Good morning everyone. Well, my guests are on their way now. It is so peaceful and quiet here right now and I am in heaven! Anne, I meant to thank you yesterday for starting the new thread....and do hope you are doing better with your heart thing. That racing would scare me out of my wits! I hope all is okay now.
Tammy, I know where that pound you lost went!! Right on my stomach! I am so bloated and feel so terrible from all the food we ate this past week! I made a stromboli last night with meats, sauteed veggies and lots of cheese. I made my guests take 1/2 of one with them today because I just don't want it around the house. Hubby will pick away at the other half for lunches at work this week. And congratulations to Tim for passing the exam!! I think he will make a great paramedic....good luck to him!
I am going to clean out the fridge today and get back to phase 1 of SB! I am waiting for the appliance people to show up again. This time it is my microwave! Thank God I bought the extended warranty on my appliances! This is the 2nd time for the microwave and the 3rd time for the fridge and they are just over 3 years old!
Queenie has her yearly check up with the vet tomorrow and then things should be quiet for awhile after that. Hubby's stress test went very well.....no problems at all so he is much relieved. Now his primary care doctor can give him some medication to help with his appetite. Looks like we will be dieting very seriously in the near future! He wants to get his knees done next January so he needs to get the weight off.
Well, off to switch loads of laundry. Hope everyone has an enjoyable Monday. It's raining lightly today and much warmer (65) than yesterday. We are suppose to have rain until tomorrow. Good day to curl up with a good book!

Default Hey There

I too need to get on the ball and lose some weight.. All I wanted to do today was eat.. Now I feel awful.
As I haven't heard from the guy about my brace I gather I won't see it tomorrow at the Dr. office.. I have been waiting on it so I can get back to my walking.. Between the coumadin and my diabetes there is so much I can't eat.. Like anything green and carbs which I have had to much of lately ,I rely on walking to help keep my weight in check.
Rainy and damp here and it looks like it is going to be around for a few days.
hello Everybody...Joanne

Hello everyone.

I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia today.

and maybe myositis. need more tests.

I've thought I had it for years. but never got help, I haven't worked in 5 years until now, and since I wan't working I just dealt with the pain. But I thought I could get meds, but my doc said no meds. she said pain killers would be a disservice to me.

I cried.

she gave me a note so that I could sit at work.

I. Am. Miserable.

Lottie, personally I think you need to find a different doctor if this one isn't going to give you meds. I don't understand that at all. Is this a family doctor or a rheumatologist? There are so many meds out there that help with fibromyalgia. Don't give up hope! I'm sure some of the others will be here to give some advice in the next couple of days.

I'm heading to bed now, but I'll try to check in tomorrow when I'm more awake. Take care!!

Welcome, Lottie. As Tammy has said, there are a lot of medications out there that do help with symptoms of FM. Unfortunately there are also a lot of doctors out there who don't understand the discomfort of living with FM. I would definitely find a physician who has some experience working with FM patients, like a rheumatologist or pain management specialist. You might want to try the National Fibromyalgia Association website (www.fmaware.org) for more information and also check out their physician referral service. Good luck and keep us posted.
Off to get ready for our morning walk and then the yearly vet visit. I am looking forward to a peaceful, quiet day of house cleaning. My floors are in desperate need of mopping! I hope my aching body can stand up to it today! Another cloudy, rainy day in Florida!

Kate, I'm sure your guests enjoyed all of the food, but it sure makes it hard on you. You sure have had problems with your appliances. Glad you had the extended warranty on them. Good to hear that hubby's test was ok. It will be good for you to work on the weight loss together to encourage each other. My floors could use a mop too, but I'm too lazy to do it today.

Joanne, I wish they'd get on the ball with the brace so you could resume your walking. I'm sure the rain and the dampness isn't helping things either.

I cheated and got weighed again this morning. I know I should only get weighed once a week, but I did it anyway. Down another pound. I am happy. After no losses for so long, it feels good to actually see the scales moving! (in the right direction that is!)

Have a great day everyone!

I haven't been on because my computer was so messed up but it's mostly fixed .
Things are getting busy-we went to Bradenton yesterday to visit Bob and Pam staying at her parents til today. Suzanne is coming in tonight, tomorrow is a boat ride , and Friday is the wedding, hoping that rain forecasted will stay away,
So glad you are ok. Anne, and everyone else is alive but dealing with everything.
Netti pot for tammy. Lottie-the biggest thing with fibro is sleep and that; s what you need meds for. I take an antidepressant at night. Can only take tylenol for the pain because my pain med made me bleed. that was after taking it for 20 plus years.
Gotta get ready for art. Mima

Mima, I knew the wedding was getting pretty close!

I bought a neti pot on Monday and have used it a few times. I haven't noticed any difference yet.

Hi. Mima - You are getting closer and closer to the wedding. Hope it's a really nice day for them. Hope you don't have any more problems with your computer.

Tammy - I don't notice a big difference using the Netipot either. Just one time I used it, and it caused a pain, much like "freeze" brain. My goodness, that hurt. Haven't been that excited about using it since lol I use saline spray morning and night. It keeps the passages clear from bacteria etc.

Kate - well you have been a very busy gal. All that cooking is a problem, unless you cheat and cook for you only, and make them eat that. They wouldn't know the difference if you didn't tell them.

Lottie - nice to see you, only wish you didn't have FM. Sleep is a problem for most of us at times. I can't imagine why the Dr. won't give you a painkiller. At least take Aleve or Ibroprofen if you can tolerate them. We all have sleep problems and the best thing I have found is Ativan for a couple of nights and then I am good to go again.

Joanne - hope you are feeling not to down. It is hard to put your life on hold while you wait for something that will let you perhaps move forward. Keep your chin up, girl.

Been baking cookies today. Have sampled far to many to see if they were ok. Couldn't tell from the first dozen! lol

Well, off to try to think up something for supper.
