Talking My Victory at the Gym!!

My husband & I started working out at the gym 3 days/week just a little over 7 mos ago. He's been great at getting me to go when I just didn't feel like it. Some days I didn't work out my hardest, but I went!

The machine I HATED from day one was the elliptical. On the first day I couldn't finish 1 full minute at level 0 (no incline)! I always avoided it & used the treadmill. One day I learned the elliptical can actually burn more calories. Hmm, maybe I would give it another try. So gradually I started using it.

Well, tonight I hit a personal goal I have been trying to achieve.......45 minutes at level 1 & 2!!! I burned 413 calories!

I was so excited that when the calorie monitor hit 400 I startled the woman next to me because I threw up my arms and yelled "YESSS!"

Thanks for letting me share this with you!!

I haven't even *tried* the elliptical yet. I think I'll be ready for that when I can go 45 minutes on the bike. Treadmills are too hard on my back.

That is really great!!!!!!

The elliptical is my personal demon of choice, and boy can I feel the burn, it really is crazy how we can go from barely being able to do a minute to 45 or more. Keep up the fabulous work!

Thanks! Still feeling really proud this morning just thinking about it A note to those who may have bad/sore knees and backs: My husbands knees and my low back always feel sore after walking on the treadmill, whether we have it set at an incline or not.

But we've both noticed that with the elliptical, they gradually stopped hurting! Just start at 0, or no incline and the easiest setting to start.

Thanks for that info. When I can easily do 45 minutes on the bike, I'll try an elliptical.

The elliptical has always been my gym favorite. I can't stand the treadmill & bikes never feel like a workout for me.
Congrats on trying something new & mastering it!

Your post, and this thread, has persuaded me to try the elliptical! At the gym today I did 20min on the bike, and then 25min on the elliptical! I'm soo happy with myself!

It's awkward at first getting into the motion, but 200cals in 20mins! I am sooo excited about going to the gym again!

So THANK YOU for inspiring me!

25 minutes for the first time!!! That is WONDERFUL! Keep up the good work and congrats. Now I'm happy I could inspire someone

Going to the gym tonight and will once again be on the elliptical. Got a weigh-in tomorrow and am nervous as I feel like my weight loss may have stalled this week

Still waiting to master 45 minutes on the bike--but today I did 30 minutes, *before* the cooldown. So I'm getting closer.
