What are you cheating with? Are you planning your meals and snacks and packing these with you while driving? Not eating enough veggies? Can you give us more info as to what leads to the cheating?

I don't think there's anyone here who hasn't cheated! Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and chat with us again tomorrow!!

It took me a couple of tries at Phase I before I got through the entire two weeks cleanly.

I cheated friday with a bean burrito. I talked to you guys, went to the store, bought beans and fat free cheese and started again. Then yesterday came and I ate sushi with rice. 2 rolls through out the day. Not the worst... I know but still rice (brown). But today. TOM came, out of no where and I ate 3 cheeseburger. THREE! I haven't been packing food because it is usually job interviews that I did not plan.

I like that idea though and I think I will just bag some veggies every morning so that they are ready for it if I need to go.

I felt like such a failure but I do know that I want to keep trying. Thats not failing. If I quit... thats failure. So before I was just going to add on a couple days. Today, I plan to start all over again. I can do this... I just have to stay away from sushi and foodless drives!

How about prepping some small packages of foods - veggie sticks, babybels or laughing cow wedges, chick pea crunchies, etc. Then if you get a call you can toss the little packages into a cooler bag and head out.

I feel your pain. I have started and cheated on phase 1 many times. It is hard. It gets easier, though.

One thing I have noticed is that you must plan. It is a PITA. Tonight I came home from vacation and spent 3 hours preparing/cooking food so I could be on plan tomorrow. Yes it sucked but now I have food for the next 5 days or so. I made ricotta savory muffins (for breakfast) and white bean dip for snacks and chopped up veggies and boiled eggs etc. Unfortunately you do have to plan but the thing about South Beach for me, is that I really do enjoy eating the food you are allowed to eat. I don't feel deprived, at least not now. I made the white bean dip with olive oil and it will really feel good to eat that with red pepper slices. The breakfast muffins are delish too. But, you do have to plan. Otherwise you'll be eating nuts and cheese sticks all day, like I did on the way back from Washington today :-)

Search Ricotta Muffins on recipes and one will come up that is for sweet ones but if you go down the thread you'll see others have made it with savory veggies etc. BTW I used 6 eggs instead of 4 b/c I wanted more egg nutrition in mine.

I hope it's a tad easier this time around. There are so many benefits once you get through P1. I spend time on the road, and there were several times that I was on my way home and just had to have something. I got myself by all the fast food joints, and stopped at the grocery store. I made sure I didn't walk through the candy aisle and went straight back to the deli. I got a piece of baked chicken and went straight back to the car. Ate my chix and went on. BTW-it worked...but I had to have a plan BEFORE I walked in.

On P1, I had a very good opportunity to analyze my bad habits. My issues with food came right to the front row. For me, it was the realization of how many times a day my hand would be in the bowl of munchies my DH seems to leave everywhere. When my hand would start to grab-I'd grab the bowl and put the food back in the bag. I didn't need it around all the time.

Debbie - your story really is inspirational. I did the same thing on the road heading back from NY. I tried to get a salad at burger king - but they ran out. So I stopped at the little "store" in the rest area and figured I'd get carrots and celery with ranch (they always sell those packets) but there was NOTHING SBD friendly except a SBD bar and I knew it would set off cravings. I was sooooo close to just giving in. It felt like the cheating gods were out to get me. But, I found the courage somewhere to come out with just a water (DW got burger and fries but only ate half - I must be rubbing off on her ) and go further off the exit. I found a CVS and got another water, some nuts, a V8 and one piece of beef jerky (I needed some form of protein and this kind -peppered- had minimal sugar versus the teriyaki flavor).

Planning is soooo key. If I don't plan, I can't guarantee I'll stay OP. The time above was one time I was able. But who knows about the next?

AJ - when I go food shopping on a Sat or Sun, I clean all my veggies and cut them up and put them in baggies - celery, cucumbers and peppers - for a quick grab and go. I also pre-portion out my hummus so I am not eating 4 servings at once. Leftovers are always good for me too. I second (or third) the cooler in the trunk proposal! Keep cheese in there with some turkey pepperoni! Also, how about portioning out some nuts?

I hope you are back on plan and doing well today!
