Default DECEMBER NSV's

For those of you unfamiliar with the term, NSV stands for Non Scale Victory. This is where we share our progress on matters that don't necessarily relate to the actual number on the scale. Such as making a healthier choice, resisting temptation, receiving a compliment (we're big on those), fitting into clothing better, something in the fitness area and so on and so on. So let's start filling it up!

I have one, I have one!

I saw my ex husband (my sons father) for the first time in about a year and a half and he texted me afterwards and said: "You look really small."

Now, of course, he means in comparison to what I used to be....but still! I've never been called small before and coming from him, it was a shock! I felt good the whole rest of the day...and still! Yay.

Tonight as I was walking to my car after work I got to thinking about one of the goals that I had set myself when I started this journey. To be able to walk from my car to my office (and vice-versa) without getting out of breath. Now I park further away from the office and often walk around an extra building or two when I have time. That feels so good!

Today was my birthday and I did not use that to justify getting myself a cake or even to have a big dinner out. Instead, after work I went to a zumba class and then water aerobics, came home and had a healthy supper of whole wheat pasta and shrimp.

The girls at work did something nice for me, too, which I count as an NSV since it shows that people know I'm serious about my weight loss. I typically buy everyone a birthday cupcake on their birthday (I'm on the 'social committee') so I was kind of thinking/dreading that they would get me one. But instead they got me a bowl of fresh mixed berries. I thought that was very sweet and supportive!

So my big NSV is that I am off to a great start for my 36th year!

Happy bday Litchick!

I'm a grazer -- I get into a lot of trouble picking at this and that when I'm packing lunches in the evening...a slice of cheese here, a chip there, you know the drill.

I saved up my evening snack for after lunch packing tonight and somehow managed to avoid the leftover pepperoni and crackers and grabbed an apple with a tablespoon of peanut butter for dipping. I feel SO MUCH less gross and way more proud of myself.

My NSV is that today I am back! I have been gone for a long time and have gained almost all the weight back. And this time I am in it for the long haul.

(sadly mainly cause one of my friends who has always been 100+ lbs more then me got the lap band in the spring and is catching up to me weight wise)

But nontheless I am back! And ready to beat this weight off of me for good

Really a Nov. ALMOST NSV, but I couldn't finish it until the end of the month. I decided to try to get 7 hours of cardio in a week to see if I could fit it in my schedule. I ended the month at.......29:23:30! (I would have gone walking on my lunch hour on the 30th if it hadn't been raining!!!). So, you know what that means for this month..........

Dec. is being a good month for me. I have already seen more NSVs than all of Nov. Here are a few:

I found out that regular size XL yoga pants fit me. REGULAR size... Did you see that? REGULAR size XL - unbelievable!

We had a retirement party at work last week. I only ate some fruit and was perfectly happy.

Our boss passed out candy bars as a celebration. I immediately turned and gifted mine to someone else. I thought about taking it home to my son but a candy bar riding in my car alone with me would be dangerous.

A very nice lady gave huge candy bars as a Christmas present. That candy bar was also immediately gifted to someone who does not have a food problem.

Friday I was out Christmas shopping and got very hungry. I ran home for a quick lunch because I felt it would be easier to eat healthy there.

I went to a Christmas party last night. I had planned for it, calorie wise. I did not over eat and even had enough calories for a couple of bites of dessert. I did not overeat at this potluck!!! And the scale this morning backs me up!!!!

I had to put my wedding band away because it was bothering me (I'm sure I must have weighed at least 230 when I got married 10 years ago), it was so loose and big on my finger. My husband was bothered that I was wearing no ring at all (isn't that cute?) so I am wearing the only ring that I have that is small enough: my HIGH SCHOOL CLASS RING! Just until I can go out and get a cheap $10-20 silver band somewhere (maybe an adjustable "hands" one so I can tighten it if I need to)...then when I finally get where I am going weight wise, we can get my wedding band resized.
