oh boy. an entire week????? i only had to do one day!!!! check with the doc about the soup - not sure if you can have any 'floaties' in it [veggies, pasta, etc].

add jello to the list. doesn't have to be SF, as you have to get SOME calories in. pudding as well. ask if you can have yogurt, at least during the first part of the week.

Hi there,

I've been on the liquid diet for a full week now, with another one to go. My doc requires an 800-1,000 cal low fat diet of protein drinks, sugar free drinks, and he also allows plain non-starch vegetables. 24 hours before surgery just clear liquids allowed.

I won't sugar coat it... one week in and I've wanted to claw my eyes out at times. I'm surviving it by shaking up the types of protein drinks I make and using a wide variety of sugar free Davinci or Torani syrups. Sometimes I add skim milk. Sometimes Light Silk. Sometimes just water. Click is a protein mix that has caffeine in it and tastes somewhat like coffee. I'm enjoying some right now for a warm treat.

I'm not sure if you're allowed veggies, but if so, not being able to put butter or cook them in oil was rough. I've been cooking them in broth (allowed) and seasoning the heck out of them.

I wish you luck... what is your surgery date? I'm the 17th. Excited, scared, you name it!

Edited to add: My signature is SO wrong. It's from 2000... boy it's been awhile.

Best,
Michelle

Thanks for the helpful hints. Forgot about sf puddings and fudgecicles.

Anytime you think of something drop a note here I will be checking it alot.

No floaties in the soups so I must strain them all prior to eating them. Who would think that those little noodles would look so yummy!lol

Thanks for the input~

Oh~my surgery is on November 20th in Dallas TX

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. It sounds like you have your menu covered. I enjoy Atkins protein shakes, my favorite is Strawberry and some kinda Chocolate Mocha with coffee. You can find them in the pharmacy section of Wal-Mart or Vitamin Shoppe. I also loved Won-Ton soup because it had great flavor. Make sure your still drinking lots of water because can items have a lot of sodium.
