Default The First 10 Pounds

Four weeks ago, when I started this journey, I wanted to set my first mini goal at something readily obtainable. I thought about using 10% of my starting weight but at 23 lbs, it seemed like such a big number and so far way... So I went with 10. I figured 10 lbs was doable and if I could stick with things long enough to lose that first ten then I could stick with it another 10 and then another and then another...

Well, after the morning I'd had (snow + ditches don't mix... Needless to say, I decided to not wait until Saturday to get my tires switched over.) and not being able to eat until 10:30 and worrying that between all the driving and the waiting and the working I was sure that by the time I stepped on the scale for my weigh-in today, the number wouldn't be looking as low as it would have if I'd gotten to it earlier.

I knew it would be an okay number, it's been dropping pretty well all week. But when I stepped on it and saw a 3.8 lbs loss, I couldn't believe it. It put me at 219 - an 11 pound total loss. I'd really needed something to go right today. And I'm so glad to have that first 10 lbs out of the way. It's funny... I've lost about as many inches as I have pounds and I think that's almost more inspiring then the weight. Or the fact that I'm doing pushups! I could never do pushups so even being able to do girly push-ups all the way through a set is exciting.

My next goal? That 10% SW. That's 13 more lbs. After that, I don't know what I'll aim for as a mini goal. But it's gonna be good. ^^

Good job, its always good to have a goal. My first goal was the first ten lbs. So excited for you to get to that 10%. Good luck girl.

Congrats on reaching & surpassing your first mini-goal - I'm sure it really did make your day and rightly so - WAY TO GO!

How smart of you to break up the journey in 10 pound increments - you're so right - that first 10 leads to the next 10 and so on - success breeds success - it gives you the confidence and momentum to continue on - YOU CAN DO THIS - because you've already proven you can!

Thanks so much for sharing - it's fun to celebrate with you - keep up the good work - we'll all be here cheering you on!

That's great! I reached my first 10lb at weigh-in this morning as well.

This is the first time in years that I've gone beyond 6 or 7 and then just given up.

Feels like a breakthrough!!

Congrats!!! Set your mini-goals as small things, like another 10lbs and Onederland. And make sure you give yourself a treat like new nail polish or jewelry and other things you like when you reach them! Tangible things that say I have reached this goal on the road to success!
