I'm not sure is this is what you're looking for, but I really enjoyed this chocolate milkshake during phase 1.

I wasn't able to find chocolate extract so I used a squirt of Smucker's sugar free chocolate syrup.

can you have yogurt? I can't remember and don't have the book handy.

If not, I like to put a crystal lite single with ice and some water in my magic bullet and have that - it's basically a slushie/slurpee, very refreshing, zero calories.

Weebles - check out the Food Lists in the FAQ section if the book isn't handy. FF or LF yogurt ARE allowed.

And, IMHO, encouraged for daily consumption! Though the research hasn't been conclusive, several studies have suggested that 3 servings of milk or yogurt a day is helpful in getting rid of belly fat. Even if that weren't true, the probiotics/active cultures in good yogurt are really helpful in keeping things moving intestinally...and we all know that it's sometimes tough staying "regular" during P1. We need all the help we can get!

Junebug, there are tons of ways you can make smoothies in P1. The big hurdle is the lack of fruit. A couple ways to get around that:
  • Use SF Jell-O cups (premade) or powder
  • Use SF fruit-flavored syrups (i.e. Torani or DaVinci)
  • Use SF drink powders
  • Add a little extract in a fruit flavor
  • Give up the whole "fruit flavor" thing and make your smoothie with something different, like tea! Green tea smoothies can be really yummy, as can chai tea.

I usually use FF plain yogurt, some protein powder (read the label very carefully to make sure it's safe for P1), some FF cottage cheese (which thickens it), and ice cubes, plus the flavoring. If you have time to do so, try putting some tea in an ice cube tray to freeze--that way, as the ice melts, it won't dilute the flavor. When I make smoothies in P2, I always using frozen fruit instead of ice so the flavor doesn't get diluted.

Enjoy!
