I wanted to take a mintue and thank Lilion for the explanation of initials. I am a recent WW member and had absolutely no idea what they were talking when they used the initials. Is some cases I determined a husband but just wasn't positive and felt to embarrased to ask! I love this site and all the great members! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!

NoLifeWithoutHorses 11-03-2006 08:28 PM

KWARREN - Don't worry - we were all new at some point and had to ask - at least I did. :D WELCOME to you and ANNIE!

Ladies, there are many of you I wish I could hug, you have so many challenges and sad things to deal with. I really wish I had time to chat and respond to each of you, but I MUST get to bed. 3:30 am will be here before I'd like!

I wanted to pop in and let you know what was going on in my suddenly very busy days. Forgive me if you read the main thread, because this is what I posted there:

Today was another long day at work. At this rate I don't know how I'll ever have the steam left over to work out or write personals, BUT at least the job is still going well. I drove the beast (semi) fully loaded with gasoline today, up some mega hills and dealt with the traffic lights on the way up, and I was really pleased. It felt good and is beginning to feel more natural to have that trailer back there again. On my eating I'm dong fantastic. Yeah, ok, so I had an egg & cheese croisant this morning, but I'm so busy and everything else is totally on track. The scale has even responded by showing my new numbers the last two days. Since the third day of a new reading is the magic one, hopefully tomorrow morning should be that day.

I got so dirty handling hoses today that my clothes, including my coat, are all in the wash right now. I'm going to need more jeans! They've ordered me some uniforms which will save wear on some of my own clothes, but I think I need some coveralls, too. Anybody know where to find coveralls in size short and round?

When I left this morning at 4:10, the moon was bright in the western sky. At my last delivery this afternoon, it was well risen in the eastern sky. I thought 'What's up with that spiteful thing? It's been all the way around the world while I've been working!'

I'm so sorry that I have to crash now, but coming here and reading up on you guys is something that's important to me, so even if you don't hear from me or I don't do personals, I want you to know I'm around and thinking of you. I'll be back when I'm not so much on "new job overload" with the long hours and so much new information to absorb. It's my hearts desire that each of you will be reporting success and NSV's out the ying-yang in the meantime.

ageoldie 11-04-2006 09:47 AM

Okay, I think I've caught up on everyone. I haven't even been reading this last week. But today is a new week and I don't have a total excuse not to eat right next week. I might even brave the scales Monday morning.

Short update on me. Things are going okay. I've had a bad few weeks with my SjS, but it seems to be winding down, I'm feeling much better. My son was very lucky. He was approached by a man who owns a "chain" of bowling pro shops in the area and told Mike, he wanted him to work for him, but he did not have a place ofr him at the present time. Well, to keep form losing him he put him to work "part time" (30 hours) and immediatel started working on a new shop for him. He has contracted with a big entertainment center that has just gone in in the more affluent part of the Metroplex and Mike opend his new shop last Monday. So he actually was not out of "pay" at all. when your ked hur you hurt no matter how old they are!!!

My job is just as interesting as always. For those of you who are keeping score. This week we lost 3. The girl that worked in the Business office with Pam & I (her last day was Tuesday. She quit because aafter 6 years she couldn't handle the excitement!!!) The ex-marine and the prison guard. On Tuesday the admin said he was turning in his notice, but it turned out to be an ultimatum and the doctors agreed to his "terms" Not sure what all of them were but one was that they get rid of the ex-marine. If you remember she was the one to tattled on his wifey. Seems like wifey has been making the admin's life **** and this weekend she told him if they didn't fire ex-marine and he continued to work her, she was leaving him. (I think I would have had a victory dance myself, but he didn't) So now what little respect I had for the doc's is completely gone. I would probally start looking for another job myself, but I would miss the fun!!!

I didn't get any warm fuzzy feeling about TOPS whe I sent in for information and to be contacted by someone and got no response. I don't want to just show up a a meeting without talking to someone about it first, and since I cuoldn't get anyone to call me back I decided forget it!!!

Okay. I've rambled on enough, got to get busy and get some things done around here. Have a great week everyone.

Morning ladies,

Not much new this morning. We have one niece staying with us this weekend. I got that bedroom cleaned out so she'd have a place to crash. Maybe I will actually get the two other bedrooms under control. Except I am at a point of needing to buy some furniture pieces as I sold a lot of my old furniture before moving. I'd like to have an armoire in her bedroom to store all the extra blankets, sheets and quilts as they are all jammed in the closet for now. And I need bookcases.

The wind is blowing hard so I think I'm working inside for the morning. I have a bit of a sore throat and stuff head so I don't want to make it worse. TOM showed up yesterday so I'm not feeling the greatest today on that front either. Maybe Hollie and I will go to a movie in town later this afternoon.

Valerie - It is just wonderful to hear from you and how you're doing. I would not expect you to do personals while you're working those five long hour days. Spend that time and energy on taking care of yourself! Sounds like the job is going to be a good workout itself.

 to everyone else. DH is making breakfast and yelling for help.

Hotcupojava 11-04-2006 09:54 AM

Wow

Two days in a row? Turtle!

It was in the teens last night. Brrrr. Talk about frost on yer punkins! ;)

I just wanted to say hello to all who roost here. There's no home ballgame today, so I just work one shift and it should be a quiet one (JINX). So I'll take my little notebook and do a role check on all you hens. I like to be THOROUGH in my endeavors. That way I can respond to you each in a more personal way.

Pooh Bear may have caught my (or his DM's) cold, so he may not be coming up this week end. That leaves me with a "Turtle Week End." We've hit a snag on the new house, so I guess I'll just clean and sort things in THIS OLD HOUSE, grocery shop, make lists, make lists of lists, and try not to play on line too much. :comp:

I hope you all enjoy your week end.

Hi Ladies,

I've been lurking for ages but when I read what Lilion said to Annie it was enough to push me over the edge so: IM BACK!

It's been ages. I've moved into a lovely apt. in the same town I've lived in for over 20 yrs., and still have the two dogs.

I'll bet I'm over 300 #'s again :( but I don't have a scale so I'm guessing.

I moved in July and am still nowhere settled in. You don't want to know how many bags of clothes I took to the local Goodwill when I purged my closets as I got ready to move. :o Everything from a size 18 to size 32. WhooHoo! It felt good to just keep what fit but I did keep my collection of jeans. After all they don't go too far out of style. I've no living room furniture at all yet but it will come. I'm doing my best to not charge things so when I have the cash I'll furnish. I'm enjoying this place and want to get back on track and get rid of a lot of my excess pounds. I'm off work this week so I may hit the local thrift shops and try to find a decent scale.

I'm so glad I've come back to my supportive "home" at 3FC and will try to post frequently.

Judy

Hi all...

Welcome KWarren and Annie! Did I miss someone? If so, sorry... I'm reading and writing fast.

Heather, congrats again on passing the "obesity" line! WOO HOO.

I'm not at home and don't have enough time to stay online and really write personal responses. I'll try to get caught up for real tomorrow.

Hope everyone's having a great weekend.

Terri in MO 11-04-2006 07:15 PM

Hi again,

Six o'clock and its dark enough to think its time to go to bed. We've had a pretty great day.

DH picked up the other niece, Jeannie this morning. We decided that we were working inside and then all three were going to see Flicka at 1:00. DH wasn't impressed but I said, tough, because its been years since I've been to the movies with my two nieces. We got up the faux wood mini-blinds on three windows. Yes, the window treatments I got in August. We got up the new rods for the back living room. The blinds were the biggest battle. We loved the movie. Dropped Jeannie off at home for her to go to work. Hollie wanted to work with the horses.

I made her wear a helmet and she rode Phoenix again. We worked in the round pen. She probably rode him bareback for at least 30 minutes. I was leading him and eventually I just handed her the lead rope and had him follow me. The only time he acted goofy was when she dismounted which she did so fast it startled him. Our next victim was to get a tiger by the tail (Spice on a lead rope). Lots of walking around so I'm counting it was exercise.

Tomorrow is more outside work after church if the weather is decent. If not, we're working on finishing with the other curtain/drapery rods.

Judy - Great to see you back. We moved this summer too and it does take awhile to get settled in and organized. Do you mind my asking why you moved? You were living with the couple.

 to everyone!

j-ann 11-04-2006 07:49 PM

Hi Terri,

I figured you had found a place where you could keep the horses. Good for you and DH. It may be more work keeping them at home but the satisfaction of being able to work them and just watch them everyday makes it worth it.

My friends both have age and health issues and decided it was time to move closer to their daughter. They were always like a second family for me. I opted to get a nice place near the old house so I didn't have to move all at once. I move in July and they moved into lovely flat around the corner from their daughter in October. I'm off this week and will probably go for a day visit later in the week. They're only 2.5 hrs. away.

Now I have to get my eating under control. At least there's no junk food in the house. ;)

Judy

Terri in MO 11-05-2006 07:15 PM

Hey ladies,

Where did everyone disappear to this weekend?

We had a pretty good day in spite of the dreary weather. We took Hollie to church with us and picked up Jeannie on our way home. Fed them KFC before having to get down to work. They cleaned out the loafing shed while I worked with Peso in the round pen. Snap! I like having girls to work while I'm messing with horses. I explained that when one person has a horse and the other person wants a horse but can't buy one, its called a lease. And their lease payment will be composting horse poop. Scoop the poop then you get to play with the horses. I have always been the mean Aunt T. :lol3: Thank goodness they've gone home; no wonder my brother has to take medicine with raising those girls.

I did get my walking in tonight. The dog used to love to walk with me. Now he thinks its more fun to wait for me to round the corner of the yard and then run at me. Dumb dog. But I made three trips including circling behind the house and barn and back to the end of the driveway. Not bad for a workout.

Got laundry in and my moo cow (Mickey Mouse holstein) pajamas on and I'm relaxing for the evening.

Judy - I thought you had mentioned something about your friends thinking about moving a while back. Good that they have a daughter to go be close too. And that is not a bad distance for going to visit them for you.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend!

colneen 11-05-2006 08:01 PM

Mother,
I know what you mean about not being able to stay away from food you know will only set you back in the wieght department, not to mention make you feel like crap in the end. The struggle to control my urges are a fight against a addiction, you get that high then your down again. It seems to be something i've repeated over and over again, all I can do is stick to my resolve and remind myself about the things that led me to where I am. Be honest with yourself have you really had enough? Or are you willing to inflict more suffering onto yourself and say "I'll start again tomorrow." As for myself I am sick of the burden this body of mine has become.Life has become a drag and I'm going to do my best to change that. I did'nt get this way over night and the fat is'nt going to go away overnight either. So stick to your guns and remind yourself of how you wish things were,It's up to us to decide how things will be. How bad do you want it?

cantforgetthis 11-06-2006 02:39 AM

Good evening,

I'm on my way to bed, but wanted to say :welcome3: to Annie, Kwarren, Judy and Colneen!

I actually bought my first pair of all cotton, nonstretch work pants and wore them yesterday! :D I bought them online so was guessing at the fit. :crossed: They slid right on, YEAH! Funny though, I found throughout the day that they aren't as comfortable as my soft, fluid knits. Hmmm...maybe i'll keep them a bit longer. ;)

Have a good night all!

Lilion 11-06-2006 09:23 AM

Good Morning Ladies!

:welcome: to Kwarren, Judy and Colneen!

Sorry I've been out of touch this weekend. It's been a real different kind of weekend. I intended to go to the office on Sat and instead over slept. So I went to the store for groceries and got my DS hair cut, etc. By the time dinner was cooked and groceries put away and dogs fed, etc. I was really out of time to do much of an office nature. Sun I did go to the office and got done two of my OLD orders that should have probably been done in July and August. Actually, the oldest wasn't my fault. It was written timely then hung on to by my boss for months then given back to me to REWRITE! Ticks me off no end that I have to do that! I hate my job some times.

Mother: How to overcome urges is a rough one! Personally, I tend to substitute low-fat versions of the stuff I love to stop urges from coming on. We keep low-fat and sugar-free ice cream on hand, low-fat chip, lite popcorn, FF cheese, you get the idea. But the fact that you are still losing is WONDERFUL! Good for you! :cp:

Valerie: Glad the new job is going well. So, are you going to be the person who fills up the big gas station storage tanks? Can I come see you and bring my car? :s:

Barbara: Your workplace dramas always make me feel better about where I work. Do they actually have time to service patients there with all the admin mess behind the scenes? Good for your DS – he really lucked out! Hope that all works out for him. Is there only one TOPS group close to you? Maybe you can find another one?

Mary (Turtle): Hope you enjoyed your "alone time". I treasure every moment of mine. That was the HARDEST thing about being married and having a child to me…never being alone! I always loved me-days…I even used to take actual vacation trips alone, never bothered me. Of course, my favorite house-to-myself thing to do was rent a movie and order a mountain of Chinese food topped off with a pint of Ben & Jerry's – but we won't go there. :p

Judy! I remember you! I'm so glad to see you back! I've been trying to get rid of my "fat" clothes as I lose and keeping the "skinny" clothes. I use them as a rule…How many years has it been since I've been in this? Of course, some of my skinny clothes are so out-of-date they aren't good for anything but measuring my weight-loss. We may be a bit behind the time here in the Midwest – but not even the Goodwill wants some of my clothes! :D

Terri: Don't feel bad about still working on your house…I've been in mine almost four YEARS and still don't have all the rooms decorated or minor things done that we said we were going to do when we moved in. It's so annoying – and as much my fault as anyones. (I'd love to see those moo cow jammies! :D )

Colneen: You've lost 11 lbs and are off to a good start. Good for you and keep up the good work. We look forward to hearing more from you and our other newbies!

Karen: I personally like the pants that are cotton with a little bit of spandex in them, to make them have just enough "give" to be comfy. But in my mind, nothing is as comfy as a pair of jeans that FIT! Unfortunately, I don't actually own any right now. I went shopping yesterday and remembered why I hate it so much. In some stores a 16 fits, in some a 20 is too small! It's such a pain!

Well all, I better skedaddle! Much to do today! Hope you all have a happy, healthy and OP day!

Hotcupojava 11-06-2006 11:59 AM

Hello

Well, Pooh Bear changed his mind and came up, after all. So I didn't get my Mary week end. He's probably afraid he might miss something. And though, SOMEHOW I hurt my back (almost down with it, but I'm trying to ignore it:( ), I snuck through an open window on my new home, using a ladder, let Pooh in the front door and I took 57 pictures! LOL.

Saturday at work, when I planned to scope you all out, I had a nearly two hour phone conversation with one of the dear chicks I met on this site instead. So I did my detective work today. I'm going to list all I've found, could someone tell me 1) if I've got your name right and 2) if I'm missing anyone?

"Iwillbe" Ruth
"LittleAnnieFannie"
"ThinThinker"
"Vortex" Angela
"Kwarren"
"Lilion"
"The Mother"
"NoLifeWithoutHorses" Valerie
"AgeOldie" Barbg
"J-Ann" Judy
"Determinedtosucceed" Terri
"Colneen"
"Cantforgetthis" Karen

Is that all of us?

I'm still planning on getting on program tomorrow (my coworker starts to go smoke-free). And though I know how immature and stupid this is, we're going to have a nice meal out (yep, Chinese). Pooh Bear is starting on the wagon tomorrow too. He's going back to what worked for him before: some type of meat, salads and grapefruit thing :?:

ToniLight 11-06-2006 04:03 PM

Colneeng, Thanks for responding, it means a lot to me to know I'm not alone. Not that I would ever wish for someone else to have the same problems as me...
It is just encouraging to hear words of, well, encouragement.
Karen, Thanks for the advice. I was trying to avoid those types of foods, trying to be pretty much non-processed food here. Maybe I will have to get just one type of indulgence a week.
