Misti - I found the presidential challenge site, but when I went to register I had to put a city and state in, and as the site is for the US I guess I can't join as I don't have a city and state in that drop down menu :( It does sound great though and I can't wait to cheer for you when you get your various awards :cheer:

Thanks for the warning about the FFM. As much as you deserve her there, I don't think it's fair that you KEEP her lol, so consider me back on track :D Thanks

Hugs,

Ammi

Ammi... that does not sound right as my drop down list has just about every country imaginable on it!!!! There must be a way to enter another country. Since I am "in" I will go take a look at it and see if I can figure it out for you.

Ask yourself this question: if the scale never moved again, but you became fitter, and stronger and less at risk of disease, would that be worth it enough to continue this lifestyle?
This is another wonderful philosophy in a single line! I love this line!! - I love the whole post!! This is definately keeper for the yet to be created "Notable & Inspirations Posts" thread, right CHRISTINE?? CHRISTINE & I were talking about the idea of a thread where we could save the occasional special post (or part thereof) that especially 'speaks' to us, like the one HEATHER just posted, or the one by ZELMA that I think Brenda has linked in her sig line. That way, those especially meaningful posts would also be easy for both new members and those of us already here to find, or find again when we need refreshment. WHUDDYA THINK?

WEZI
- Oh, yeah! I understand exactly how you feel about not telling DH what your numbers are. I actually had an insurance guy that had to ask me IN FRONT OF DH what my weight was. He wasn't being rude, he had to ask, but I was mortified at the time. I lied a little of course. :D But it's reached a point for me now that I don't care. Everybody in the house knows what they are. Now when it goes down I can say freely what it is and I don't worry about letting it slip or anything - all I have to do is revel in the progress and everyone else excepts it without a problem. Like you said, it's not that anyone is really deceived into thinking we weigh 125 pounds. So what the heck? If he does says "Wow, I didn't know it was that much!" then you say "For THAT comment, you owe me a new set of 5 pound dumbells" (or the Loser DVD, or an exercise ball or bike or whatever you'd like next on your wt loss mission.)

KAYLEY and MISTI, What Heather said! I'm truly sorry it's not moving for you right now, but you KNOW that you are healthier then before and that you're going to keep moving in the right direction untimately!

Well, tomorrow is the big day. Back to work with some unknown chauvanistic entity. I have a couple things to run out and get, like an oversized tire gauge and a bright little flashlight and some glass cleaner, etc. There's still a little more reading I have to do. (... where are the alternator, the turbo and the pitman arm again?) Then it's off to bed early for my 3 a.m. rise & shine start on the new job.

Hey KENYA, you still out there? I wonder if JULEE ever pops in anymore? AMY, how's that move going? There are so many dear girls here to miss!!

Zeitgeist 10-29-2006 03:26 PM

Thank you Heather.

I've been off...off my plan, off the exercise, off with the motivation, off of here.

I am going to try harder this week. I went to buy a new pair of jeans this weekend because the only pair I have is getting quite worn in the "chub rub" inner thigh area. Anyway, even though I have lost 35 lbs, the same size I am currently wearing was too tight! Too tight! I haven't even lost a pant size in 35 lbs. Definitely not a NSV. But maybe a little more motivation for the upcoming week.

I'm off to exercise and maybe eat some veggies. Sorry for not responding to any posts...I'm so far behind that I could not possibly read everything. I hope others are doing better.

Misti in Seattle 10-29-2006 04:46 PM

Valerie great idea about the keeper posts!!!

:woohoo: I just crossed the finish line for my October exercise goal. Heading over to post it. :woohoo:

Wow I just walked down to a store a couple miles away to get a few things.. they will grind meat for me so I like to get my beef there. I took my backpack. It was a bit cool but sun breaking through so just wore short sleeves and it was warm enough when walking hard. By the time I got home it was spitting rain and NOW it is COLD out there and HAILING! Wow what a big drop and change of temp all of a sudden. Sure glad I made it home. I do love being out in the rain and even hail but I had no jacket.

Regarding the presidential awards... my close friend who is a professional artist and used to run a framing shop said she will help me figure out how to make a nice display for them... I want something I can eventually add the silver and gold to, all in one. LOL of course I don't have ANY of them yet! :) But I will! :ebike:

Heather 10-29-2006 04:51 PM

You know, I think this is one of the few places you can come and write a bunch of stuff in CAPS and kind of yell at people (and yourself) and have them thank you for it.

I think the idea of inspirational posts is a great one. Valerie, you have had some doozies too! Zelma's "freedom" post springs to mind as well.

I get so much support from this place that I just want to dole it out to everyone in return! Plus, posting things like that help me too. Saying is believing! I have been terrified of gaining the weight back, but I am starting to see that if I really have committed then everything I said in that post is true and adversity doesn't have to be the enemy and I CAN put myself first (at least some of the time). If so, then I CAN and WILL do this for life! And what a charge that gives me!

Heather 10-29-2006 04:53 PM

Misti!!!

Made Her October Exercise Goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:bravo:

Misti in Seattle 10-29-2006 05:08 PM

Hey, thanks, Heather!!!

Misti in Seattle 10-29-2006 05:18 PM

Ammi... I just looked at the presidential challenge site and it shows that there are 2 participants... but I signed up in the senior adults group, yikes hard to believe but it is true. :) Maybe you could email the site and get more info...?? Or perhaps someone from 3FC would know.

Here is the original thread... it is stickied at the top of the Exercise section.

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66271

Perhaps a moderator there could help you?? I hope you are able to join... it's neat! And housework counts so I am getting all kinds of stuff done at home LOL.

AmmiUK 10-29-2006 06:01 PM

Patti - thanks so much for your belief in me. Wanting not to let you down as well as myself is going to help me get back on track and stay there

Misti - :cheer: on reaching your exercise goal, that's brilliant!!! I have no chance of meeting mine this month, but next month barring any illnesses again I know I will do it :cp:

Thanks for looking into how I can join that challenge. I guess if push comes to shove I can fib and put any state and city, it's not like they can check is it  I will try to find out a legitimate way of doing it first though. That's great that housework is included, I like getting something more than a clean house from doing housework

Valerie - I think the idea of a thread just for the most motivational posts sounds fantastic. It's a place we can go when we need that kind of support and not have to trawl through the daily threads to find it. Great idea :cp:

Good luck with your first day in your new job. I am so happy for you that you got the job and I am sure that you will be wonderful at it. What did hubby say about it?

Jen - I have been the same as you, and it seems we have come back around the same time. Let's promise each other that we are done with the bad days, and we are going to go full steam ahead with our weight loss and exercising

I am off to bed now, so take care all, and I will 'see' you tomorrow.

Hugs,

Ammi :grouphug:

Hello Erika Leigh and :wel3fc: You have found THE perfect place for support and motivation on your diet journey. Well done :bravo: on the 4 lbs you have lost already, and an even bigger :bravo: for putting the breaks on before you got to 300 lbs. I wish I had done that!! Heather 10-29-2006 06:11 PM

Welcome, Erika! I have seen you around the forums -- good to have you here in 300+. We do have some significant challenges, but if you saw my rant earlier today, you know I believe we can persevere through them.

This is a great place!

BTW, it looks like you're exercising. I invite you to join our own 300+ exercise challenge. The October thread is stickied at the top of the page and people are just now setting their November goals! We set goals of minutes/month, post to the group and keep track of the group minutes. We need more people to help us get to our goal of doing 200,000 minutes of exercise for the year!!

Please check them out!!!

Ammi - Thank you for posting the pics of you and Sharon. It is SO good to see a couple of our friends together. You both look wonderful by the way. I think both of you carry your weight VERY well.

I had a brain wave a minute ago, while I was reading one of your posts. You talk about going WAY off your program, which is SO unusual for you, that I just thought I'd ponder it for a while. HEY!!!! I have a feeling that your body is just sending you a message. You were VERY sick for a while there. You couldn't eat properly or exercise at all. You lost weight, but you knew that it wasn't a healthy way to be doing it. Your body could possibly have gone into shock. I am a true believer that our body sends messages to our brain, which affects how we treat it. So I think that your body was sending your mind messages that it had to feed it more to recover from the trauma of being sick. Our bodies can only put up with so much punishment before they finally tell us to "STOP" and think a little while. Trust me, I've been there, although my problem has been with overexercising. My body certainly sent me the right message though. I actually got sick, then had to take time off to recover. Perhaps your body is doing the same thing. It NEEDED that week to get a little more nutrition that it thought it needed. So, your brain got that message and ran with it a little while. I just CAN'T, as in I REFUSE to believe that you just finally went on a binge week for no apparent reason. Please don't let yourself believe that you are weak at all. I think you need to look at it as a recovery period from an extremely stressful time in your life. Even the fact that you now have a cold tells me that your body is STILL recovering. Just give yourself a little time and you will soon be back to 'normal'.

I hope that all made sense. I was typing so fast, because I wanted to write exactly what I was thinking. If it comes out as a pile of drivel, please believe that there was true sentiment behind it and there is a message tucked away in there somewhere.

I hope you and Caleigh get over your colds before the birthdays. And I hope you, Daren, Beth and Caleigh have a wonderful time over those couple of days.

Take care,

Zelma
