Kimberly- Congrats on the weight loss. You are doing so great!:spin:
Xena-- I am so sorry about your “big slipup” with food. However, I agree with what you have said “tomorrow is a new day!” You will do better and will start to live healthy again! Have a wonderful trip! Lilion-- Your pictures look great! Also WOW 87 pounds gone are super great!!! Keep up the great work  Misti- I have always wondered about natural supplements! I have learned so much about them lately in school and I think they can be a very positive thing! You do have a truly great doctor! Also congrats on being 238! I think that is super cool!:^: Zelma- You said “I just want to throw something out there that will contradict what others have been saying. People have been saying that you shouldn't eat late at night, but my dietician friend actually told me that I needed to eat something later as I was having too long a gap between dinner and breakfast. She first of all had me eating ice-cream and jelly, but now I have a banana and some yoghurt. She has me do this so that my metabolism has something to work with overnight.” -- That is so funny to me because I always eat a banana & yogurt later at night for the exact same reason. Also congrats on the Newspaper article. I think it is cool and uplifting to be written about in such a fashion.:smug: Nightkatt-- I am sorry about the three pound increase but I am super pleased with you doing Richard Simmons! Dancing is so fun to me! You have lost 23 pounds and that is GREAT! Just keep going you are doing so well!:) Abbeycat - Whew--- you have lost 22 pounds! Congrats that is wonderful. Also I am happy you get a great intake of water! I need to increase my water Anyway keep up the great work;) Luan - I am wishing you have a wonderful trip. My husband and I were friends since we were in the seventh grade. Then finally we went to Six Flags together and were never apart ever since (Well that is until now since he is away on business). I think we are so good for each other because we were best friends for so long before we started to date. I am just so happy for you and reading your post reminded me of my husband :D Ziggy - I am happy your doctor noticed that you were looking better! I simply love it when doctors notice the patients in this way. |
Good morning, everyone!
Hey Xena you have TWO tickets to AI? I am available! :) Abbey... no actually I am still not losing... two pounds in the last 3+ weeks. I am just trying very hard to stay positive. :tantrum: :nono: Eventually it will come off. Hope everyone has a great day today... and everybody stay OP!!!! |
Kim, great on the dance moves:carrot: , I'm REALLY impressed, I struggle to twirl around, lol.xxxx
Misti, I'm sure the FFFM is due to visit, you have such willpower not having 'naughty' food when you're frustrated:hug: .xxxx Katt, sorry about feeling fed up & being a bit off plan:hug: , still that exercise will do wonders for you figure & health & we all slip up occasionally.xxxx Xena, same for you:hug: , a fresh day, fresh start, we are all here for you.xxx Just promise yourself you'll be OP today, tomorrow is another day, we have to do this long term, but breaking it down to small goals & achievements will help us all to get there in the endxxxx Ammi, how ru:hug: ? Lilion we went to a medievel horse thing on holiday, it was great fun, I envy you the trips you go on, though not the toilet facilities!! :o Though I bet they're NOT AUTHENTIC!!! ;) LOL I have to go do lunch now, I've walked a bit the last three days, no other exercise, I feel fed up.TOM is due anytime and it's making me feel agitated, angry, hungry for 'bad stuff', confused and generally pi**ed off! Also my weight is staying at a pound or two above what it was before my holiday, even though I've been good!!! Still I have to stick with it, what other choice is there? Gain the weight back plus some more & be in a wheelchair in 5-10 year's time???? NO WAY!!!! xxsharon |

Hello All,
I am a bit late posting today, I am feeling a little under the weather, and I ended up going back to bed for an hour or two after doing some exercise and housework. I could have done without the exercise but I figure if I am coming down with something I won't be up to exercising then, so I best do what I can now :D Heather - a size Medium in a top, what a wonderful feeling that must have been! It's NSVs like that which really help to keep the motivation levels up! Good for you also for being more social when you were at the reception. I bet it was great not being concerned about your weight like you used to be. You sound like me when it comes to chocolate, if I have something like that in the house, I am not happy until it's all gone. Good for you for not sitting down and eating the whole bar in one go! As for nearly getting to 1000 it gives me a buzz too, weird aren't we, Well speaking for myself only, you know what they say, small things please small minds LOL. Luan - I hate scales that have the .8 or whatever of lbs, if you were on a traditional scale I bet the reading would have been 2 lbs lost. So I say you lost that much :cheer: :cheer: OOOOH Kenya was good friends for years with her hubby before they got together at a theme park, maybe history will repeat itself with you and your 'friend'. Mind you, are you sure he isn't gay, I mean how could he not have fallen for your charms in all these years :D Have a great time in Disneyworld, and don't forget to cling onto 'him' on all the rides as often as possible  Valerie - good job you never ended up on the wrong side of that lake, maybe you should have got a map before you started your walk :dizzy:  How big was the lake, how clean was it? Who knows, maybe you could have swam back to your car if you had ended up on the wrong side :D Think of the brilliant exercise that would be  As for the eating at night thing, it's funny how different dieticians recommend different things. I have always been told it's wrong to eat after 6 pm. But if I had to go to bed on a tummy so empty I know I would never sleep. So I budget my points and make sure I have a low fat hot chocolate, and some dried fruit, or pretzels or something around 1.5 points at 9 or 10 pm. It hasn't seemed to hurt my weight loss so I am sticking to having supper :D Brenda - I hear you on how you feel about obese children and how they get treated. Beth is about 7 lbs overweight, and she gets called fat Beth in school. If that's how mean they are to her at just that much overweight, how awful would they be to a very fat child. It's just wrong. I try to help Beth to lose that extra few lbs, but then she goes to her dad's and he in his effort to buy her love takes her for pizza, or kebabs, and buys her chocolate and full sugar cola etc. The laugh of it is that he left me because I got fat, and he seems to be trying to make Beth big now!! Michelle - how are you feeling today? I hope if you do get a cold that it comes and goes quickly. I wonder if you have sent your germs to me via the Net  I really am not feeling good today :( Yes you are right, I think we all have days where we are feeling horrible, and upset at ourselves for letting our bodies get to the size they are. Every time I think of how much weight I have lost, I then think I have to lose the same again and I just wish I had had the motivation and will power to do something about my size when 70 lbs loss would have taken me to a normal size :( Oh well, it will take me longer to get to my goal now, but I think I am a better person for knowing how hard life is at 300+ and will appreciate life much more at a smaller size. I think the same can be said for all of us, you too. You are taking control NOW and that's what matters  Jen - don't be hard on yourself about not getting in all the exercise you had planned on doing. I bet if you wore a pedometer you would find that all the walking you do in your working day would help boost your exercise time. Have you got a pedometer. I have one that Misti recommended to me and it's brilliant because it tells you how many steps you took AND how many of them can be counted as aerobic steps. I love going out and knowing I have done some 'real' walking that is helping me to lose weight. Kimberly - woohoo on the 3.5 lbs down, that is awesome, just look at your ticker move :cheer: :cheer: :bravo: :cp: I wonder if you will lose at least half a lb more when you weigh on Friday to round it to a nice 4 lbs lost :D Very impressed on what you managed to do at your hip hop class, it was hard work for me just to read how to do the step, I KNOW I couldn't actually perform it. Well done :cp: MMMMM that pound loaf sounds delicious. Good job we can't get it here or I would be too tempted to buy some in all the time. I am bad enough with fruit toast, they are sold so tiny that I could eat a whole loaf myself, all smothered in butter of course. SHHHH don't think about food like that  Xena - it's official, I know why I feel unwell, I am SICK with envy  you are going to go see the AI peeps, including Elliot!!!! Well you will just have to blow him a kiss from me  Enjoy yourself, and please tell us all about it when you get back from Kentucky. I hope the baby shower will go well and that you really enjoy yourself  It's funny how we sabotage ourselves isn't it. There you are worrying about going to see people who haven't seen you recently, and that worry got you turning to food for comfort. Of course you have your other worries too, not least about boarding your 'baby' for the first time. Have you seen those Pet Hotels that they have over there, do you have one near you? They are expensive, but Juliet who has posted here a couple of times, has put her 'baby' in one of those and was pleased with how he was looked after. It's much better than your normal dog kennels :D I am glad to hear you are still journalling and not letting your slip up with the food stop you in your tracks. We all have bad days, we just have to make sure they aren't ones that break our diets  Lilion - LOVED your photos, though why you don't like the one where you say it's your least fave I don't know, you look gorgeous in it, and there's no way in any of the photos do you look like you weigh 241 lbs, to me you look 'normal' I will be so thrilled if I ever get to looking like that :D Misti - your doctor sounds really lovely, it makes all the difference when you have a doctor that really take and interest and is proud of how well you are doing. I bet by the time you go back in 3 months you will see your cholesterol levels are much lower if not at normal. Great news about your WI at work, sounds promising, let's see that FFM really take some lbs away! Zelma - hope the photo shoot goes well, what did you end up choosing to wear. Sounds promising that they want some photos of you in your work environment doesn't it?? Oh this month is DRAGGING by, I don't know how you can stand the waiting to hear if you won the competition!!! Thanks for letting us know what your dietician friend said about eating later in the evenings. I already do that, but it's nice to know that there is a valid reason for doing it :D Katt - LOL love the way you wrote that you 'did' Richard  Lucky man :D  Seriously I am glad you got so much exercise in and I am sure it helped you feel less bad about gaining some lbs recently  Good for you for getting back on track, you will soon lose those lbs again. Angie - I loved seeing your weight tracker and hope you will send us updated pics of it when it is covered in those big smiley face stickers :D It's a great idea, one I might just use myself. I get a buzz looking at the numbers written in my journal, but seeing them in big writing accompanied by some great stickers will be even more fun :D Ziggy - ok you made some bad food choices, don't let it get to you too much though. Consider the cravings dealt with, and now focus on getting back on track. I am a firm believer that having belief in yourself that you can do this, you can lose the weight, really does help. Positive thinking all the way :cp: Sharon - aren't those meds helping you when it comes to TOM? I am sorry you are feeling so fed up etc, hang in there, you will see a loss on the scales soon, and will feel more able to exercise more too. Have you tried the WATP dvd I sent you? It's hard work for me, but if your ankle is up to it, I think you would find it ok. I am defo going to be on MSN later, I am not up to cooking tonight, so everybody can fend for themselves, and I am just going to have soup, so no rush to get off the PC early. Hope to catch you then. Patti - woohoo, 1 lb gone, just 2 more to go to get you back to 299, so let's hope for 3 lbs to get those scales moving even more downwards  Ok got to go exercise now, the day just isn't long enough for all I want to do when I have to get a sleep in during it. Rats. Ok bye for now, Hugs, Ammi :grouphug: |
Ammi hope you get to feeling better!

Morning Ladies!
Ammi, Kenya, Heather - thanks for the compliments. I dislike the one of me and DH because you can see my double-chin, my saggy triceps and my spare-tire bulge! In other words, it looks just like me! Ammi - I'm 5'10" and large framed, so quite lucky in the weight department. I can carry it very well and tend to fool people. I'm currently in a 18-20 in sizes…I did buy a regular xl t-shirt a while back and was so proud to not have to get the 1x plus size! My "goal" is 190 – which is my driver's license weight that I haven't changed since I was 19! The charts say I should weigh about 175. Hope you get to feeling better! Katt - Headaches are miserable! Hope you feel better now. Sharon – 9 days with only porta-privys are not my favorite thing! But WAY better than they had in the real middle-ages! Luan – HI! I haven't seen you in a while! That's one FOXY friend! ;) Have a ton of fun on that trip! On the eating late issue – I've also been told many times that, contrary to popular belief, it doesn't matter what time of day you eat, as your body continues to burn calories all night. I still think it makes sense to eat light late though and heavy early, as you'll burn faster in the daytime or with exercise. But clearly, a light snack after 7 p.m. isn't a problem. If you are hungry and can fit it in your plan, I think you should eat whatever time it is! Well, off to work – or maybe I should say – back to work, since I'm already here! :p |
Just to echo what Zelma said -- recent research indicates that for weight loss and nutrient absorbsion (sp?) it doesn't matter WHEN you eat. In fact, it may well help keep the metabolism chugging along.
Some people may not want to eat late for a variety of reasons, but if you are not eating anything at night because you think it will slow your weight loss, I don't know of research that supports that view. (Not to say it's not out there...) |
Patti - thanks, I hope I feel better too. I feel like I did when I thought I was getting Beth's cold before I went to London. I am glad it didn't come to nothing, so maybe now it is finally going to get me. It's weird though because before I exercise I feel really BLAH, but afterwards although worn out, I don't feel as poorly. I am sniffing and sneezing though, so something tells me a cold isn't far from my future
Lilion - can I just say this......look at an old photo of yourself, then look at the one where you say you have your double chin, sagging triceps and spare tyre bulge, NOW tell me you don't look fabulous in your recent photo :D I have to do that myself with my photos, I think oh yuck, look at that, and look at that, then I go look at my first 'before' pic and I think now THAT then was yuck. I have a long way to go but I am looking good compared to back then  Oh I wish I was tall like you, not because of the weight looking less  but because Daren is so tall, I feel like a shrimp next to him!! He's 6 foot 3 and I am 5 foot 6. Still it's not as bad as him and his ex, she was only 5 foot 3 :D I think your weight goal is a wise one, who cares what the charts say, you have to stop where you feel comfortable. The charts say I should be about 140 lbs, but I know I feel and look good at 196, so that's my goal. Now if I get there and want to keep losing I will, but that remains to be seen. I bet you can't wait to get to your drivers licence weight. Not changing it since you were 19 ended up a good decision, it's a great goal weight to aim for. Heather - I actually shouldn't eat after about 7 pm because of my ostomy and having to be up half the night emptying the thing, but my diet is more important than how many times I have to get up, so I like to have supper :D We were going to go the the Mumbles today, tomorrow Caleigh has half a day off school to get her bottom braces fitted, so we can't go out then. But Daren had a late night gaming, and I wasn't feeling brilliant when I got up, so we decided to stay home. I am glad we did because the weather has stayed dry and I have got my washing done and nearly all of it's dried. I will just have to do a whites load on the weekend, and then it's just ironing left to be done. Yay. Ok I guess I better go check if the washing on the line is ready to be brought in. Take care all and bye for now, Hugs, Ammi :grouphug: |
Ammi -- I know that dryers for clothing are very common in the US, but not so much in the UK (or, I guess, in a lot of other places in the world)... I like the idea of clothes drying on the line outside, but it is very convenient being able to just shove the wet clothes in the dryer!
|
Heather - I used to have a drier, the weather in Wales is normally quite wet, so it was a necessity. Then we decided to put some more cupboards in as we desparately needed more storage room in the kitchen so we got rid of the drier and bought a washer/drier. I found to my displeasure that a washer/drier is no good at all for drying clothes. There are only two heat settings which seem to be BOILING HOT and EXTRA BOILING HOT. So not only does everything come out creased to bits, but it's all shrunk as well. So I only dry my towels in there now. Everything else either goes outside weather permitting, or on my line in the kitchen when it's raining. BUT then you have to dodge the washing just to go into the kitchen, so I much prefer to dry clothes outside. Just wish I had a bigger house so I could buy a drier again :(
Hugs, Ammi :dizzy: |
Ammi- I sure hope you are feeling better!
|
Ammi~sorry you are sick! I am feeling better today. I just think the TOM is coming. And we all know how bad that can make you feel! Hope you get better soon hun!
Well it sounds like everyone else is doing great. Congrats on all the losses and NSVs. And I think its great how many of you have realized you slipped up with eating but are getting right back on the wagon. For so many years now I really believe that is what has kept me from losing this weight. I would get discouraged and just give up when I messed up. I am seeing now like so many of you have pointed out that its a process and you just have to keep going! I am going to try to get some more walking in today. It really made me feel good yesterday. I also notice though I am not paying attention to how many carbs I am eating. I guess thats part of the mindless eating at times. Just hope to stay OP! I wanted to mention this to you girls and see if any of you have ever had this problem. First, in Nov. I am supposed to fly down to Anchorage to do a sleep test for sleep apnea. But I was just wondering have any of you ever had any burning in your lungs? I don't smoke or anything like that. But when I work out or when I wake up in the mornings I feel a burning in my lungs. And it feels hard to breathe. I sleep on my stomach at night and I am wondering if my weight is actually pressing my lungs? I don't know if that makes sense. But I just started having these problems when we moved here. The air up here is really dry. But I think its more weight related. I am just getting worried. Just curious if any of you ever experienced this. Well hope you all have a great day! Michelle |
