300+ And Ready To Try Again.....#930

WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!

Not exactly on topic, but....

For the last couple years now I've been taking correspondence classes to graduate; during the last year I've been taking my last class - Writing 12. But, it's really detailed, and long! I had about 15 assignments to do total for it, and I've had the last 3 to do since the beginning of the year - or longer! It's just that it seemed to daunting and complicated to finish...well, at **21** I'm FINALLY able to say I GRADUATED!!!!!!! I called my correspondence school today to make sure everything got marked...and it all was! (I got an 'A' in the class by the way!) So I'll get my diploma sometime this year! I'm soooo happy, I know this is off topic, but, wow, I'm been trying to long for this. :) And I'm only the 2nd person in my immediate family to grad, lol! (My sister has been 2 classes away from grad for the last 6 years...and my dad only went to grade 10.) So me and my mom can gloat together now, lol. I'm in a different city from them, so I'm waiting for it to be a decent hour to call and tell them it's confirmed, lol! That made my day!! Also, I'm getting my bloodwork results early (I called and asked to come in early), so I'm getting them today! Wish me luck!
Have a great day everyone!

Melissa. :cb:

Hi all. Sorry I have been so scarce. I am having a tough time with the scale and it is starting to really bum me out. I KNOW it is water and has to do with the fact I am off all medications and vitamins until after my procedure (a week from today!) but it is still really depressing. I weighed in at 307 this morning - it just seems to keep going up! My eating was fine - we didn't even eat out once this weekend. I am exercising every day - in short I am doing everything right, but it is not going well! This morning I cam close to going downstairs and getting myself a muffin as consolation. Thank goodness I worked my way backwards out of the logic of that one. I guess I figure if I am gaining weight anyway I might as well have a reason! It is just so frustrating. I know I just need to keep going and the water will go away.

On a separate note I forgot my iPod at home today which will make working out today tough unless my new friend Lisa is at the gym. Hopefully she will be there.

Also, I talked to Maria Lucia last night. She is hanging in there, but mostly focusing her efforts on finding a new job. The stress of her work situation is making it really difficult to focus on anything else right now. I'll let her know she was asked about.

voodoo1 06-12-2006 01:57 PM

Nancy, so sorry that the weightloss is a bit cr*pppy now, just focus on the fact that soon your op. will be over and that you will be feeling better. I'm sure with the will-power that you've shown; WHAT NO MUFFIN!!!!!lol; the weight will fall off, it has to if you're doing everything right.xxxxxxxx Send some of those kisses to Maria Luchia too, I hope she gets the job she deserves, she's bound to do well, as she offered such sound and insightful advice to Kayley, I think.
Ammi, I hope all is well with you.xxxxx
I have to shower the boys & do Steve's lunch for work so, hugs to all, welcome Sharon, WONDERFUL NAME ISN'T IT??!!!! MEL ***FAB ***on the diploma.
bye xxxsharon

Now that I have done that I just want to report that I have lost another 3 lbs. Now I am just one little lb away from being in the 200s :cheer:

Take care all and bye for now,

AmmiUK 06-12-2006 05:35 PM

Brenda, Patti and Crock thank you so much for your praise and encouragement. If it weren't for you all, and of course everybody else here I am sure I wouldn't be doing as well on this diet as I am.

Patti - how did you cope with not exercising over the weekend?

Take care all,

Hugs,

Ammi :grouphug:

Heather 06-12-2006 05:49 PM

Sharon (the new one!) -- Welcome! I see you hav an exercise ticker -- feel free to join our exercise thread -- we keep track of our own minutes, but also keep track of the group's minutes -- we are seeing how quickly we can get to 100,000 minutes of exercise -- sounds like a lot, but we're already more than halfway there!!!! The thread is stickied at the top of the 300+ forum

Of course, everyone is welcome to join!

Brenda -- love the new avatar!!

Nancy -- hold on and don't panic about the weight! Remember that this lifestyle is FOR LIFE, and we are all going to have some bumps in the road. This is just one of yours. If the scale goes up, you will get it back down. You've been doing too well to stop now!!!! This is just a blip. Frustrating, yes, but a blip. Keep doing everything you can and don't worry!!

Ammi -- Wow, 3 more pounds is awesome, girl!!!! You are really on a roll!

Melissa -- Congrats on the diploma!

NotTheCheat 06-12-2006 06:03 PM

Ammi - Way to go! You are totally rockin! :dancer:

Sharon, Patti, Wyllen - Thanks for the encouragement. I think I just needed to vent. I know this is for life and that it isn't a linear process. Our bodies are tricky things and have their own needs and cycles that don't always correspond to what we want. I almost talked myself out of the gym tonight, but no way! I know I have to keep at it, especially since this is my last week to exercise for awhile.

toofatforu 06-12-2006 06:20 PM

Ammi i did ok i felt guilt about not exercising but it did help me some . i did an hour today. my foot hurts but i will keep at it this week and rest on weekends. my problem now has been my husband been home since friday and doing alot of cooking.. mostly healty foods but still i dont like to fill this full! and troubles with my vinyl siding.. the factory ran out of my material and had to make more so they will be back on Tuesday and mostly likely it will take them all week!
Nancy good for you for going to the gym!

MsCrockett 06-12-2006 06:20 PM

Hey guys I have been thinking of a few things, My Birthday is this Sunday, the 18th, and I would really like to do whatever on this day.. and the Should I??? is there, I thought I would pick out an old favorite meal I used to have and that is what I would go for on this date.. BUT.. I am struggling with the fact that I am Not in that way of life anymore. and Perhaps I should celebrate by staying with my new life style.. I am just a little wondery right now as My Best Friend always makes my favorite cake for my Birthdays and when she asked me what she should do on my birthday , I really did not have an answer. But I have been ponderring ever since.. ahhhhhhhhhhhh.. just one of those thinkers I guess..

Now how have I missed THAT? :) I'll have to go join in... but not today as I twisted my knee so did my one 10 minute walk and realized I had best sit stuff out for the rest of the day as far as exercise goes.

Vilandra485 06-12-2006 09:29 PM

The Results Are In!

Hey Gals! So, I got my bloodwork results back today...and everything is GREAT!! :) My total cholesterol is 3.59 (normal/good is between 2.00 and 4.59) and my good choesterol is 1.37 (good is 1.10 and up)! My sugar level is good, too. Along with my blood cells, liver and kindney function, too! Also, I have a good amount of calcuim as well, sodium is normal, as well as magnesium and B12. :) YAY!! I was worried...no reason to be, but I was anyways, lol. Something that lifted my spirits was when I asked the DR what I should look to improve on when I come back in 6 months or so, and he said "By the looks of these results, you don't need to improve anything"! :carrot: THAT was nice to know, lol! So I'm gonna go back in 6 months to make sure I'm STILL healthy. :D Well, that sure brought my stress down a bit, lol. Have a good one ladies!

Melissa :cb:

Heather 06-12-2006 09:30 PM

Misti -- I wondered why you hadn't joined us but figured you were busy with other challenges! I know it's hard to keep up with things (why I never carried through on the walk across the US -- too many threads to juggle!)
Please do join us!

Nancy -- I get the need to vent. Glad to hear you're keeping strong.

Crock -- what to do for the birthday... what I've tried to to still do something special, but not necessarily the same kinds of food as before. Go out for a nice meal, but maybe order a "new" favorite, or something like that? It's something to think about at least! I order a lot more fish and a lost less pasta than I used to!!! Happy birthday and let us know what you do!!

Thanks! Will jump in there as soon as my knee heals a bit... I feel I need to give it time even though I hate to argh!!! :)

Oh and we are almost to Seattle on our walk... so are going to walk back the long way... around the edge of the US -- so our next major goal will be San Diego LOL

Hey everyone… well it’s official, I’m sicker than heck :( I’m hoping it’s just a summer cold… but it’s starting to feel icky in my chest. With my asthma, I’m just hoping it doesn’t turn into asthmatic bronchitis. So I’m pretty much resting, and sucking in all the water I can take to keep myself hydrated and pray it doesn’t get worse.

It would totally suck if I got worse :( my graduation is on Sunday and I don’t want to be sick… *cries*

No personal replies today chickies… I’m off to rest.

Take care!

AmmiUK 06-13-2006 05:54 AM

Good Morning All,

It's not such a hot day today, in fact it looks like rain. I hope it doesn't though because I have some washing out on the line and another load waiting to go out!

Heather (wyllen) - thank you for the congrats on my 3 lb loss. I am so excited thinking that next week :crossed: I will be in the 200s :cheer:

Nancy - thank you too for the congrats. I am sure that if you keep up the good attitude, and not give in you will soon be shifting the lbs again too  What you have to keep telling yourself is that as long as you are doing the right things then no matter what those scales say, you aren't gaining fat. It might be water weight, or muscle, but it can't be fat. I am positive you will see those numbers coming down again.

Thanks for letting us know you spoke to MariaLucia, I have been wondering if she is ok. I also think of her every time I post replies because I make sure as per her request that I don't choose lime green for my posts

Patti - I am glad you were ok about resting up over the weekend. I can't remember, have you been to the doctors about your foot, or do you just think it's painful because of all the exercising?

I am glad that your hubby is making healthy food, but why do you feel so full? You know you don't have to finish everything that is put on the plate. Just stop when you feel like you want to.

Crock - I think that you have really turned a corner when it comes to how you eat. So when your birthday comes why not just enjoy a lovely slice of the cake your friend normally makes you, have a few beers with your friends, and just enjoy the fact that you can celebrate a birthday without having to eat loads! We always seem to equate happiness and celebration with eating, but it doesn't have to be that way.

Misti - sorry to hear that you have twisted your knee. I hope it will be ok soon.

Melissa - I am not sure if I have said hi to you before, I have a memory like a sieve  anyway, Glad to hear your blood work came back so good and that you don't have to worry about it. It's always great when test results are good ones.

Congrats :cheer: on graduating your writing course. You sounded very proud of yourself, and rightly so :cheer:

SueMarie - I am so sad to hear that you are feeling so unwell, especially with your graduation so close. I hope :crossed: that it is indeed just a summer cold and that it won't turn into that nasty asthmatic bronchitis

Mel - did you ever get to the doctors about your possible heel spur?

Annie - hope you are keeping well and the back isn't playing up.

Brenda - for some reason I have your name on my reminder list for the 15th of July. I know your birthday is the 22nd, so is anything happening on the 15th??

Love your new avatar photo by the way!

Ok I have a bloke coming to give me a quote on some rubbish removal, so I have to dash. Take care all and have a great day.

Hugs,

Ammi :grouphug:

toofatforu 06-13-2006 07:51 AM

what a day! my routine on treadmill still off track!be glad when i get my life back! Ammi i just started having real bad foot pain lately.. i think it is a spur or something in my foot maybe caused by my exercise!but i am taking aspirin for it and keep on keepin on!

toofatforu 06-13-2006 07:53 AM

Ammi as far as filling full just a few bites fill me up now and especially all these low calorie filling veggies i have been eating. i am starting to measure my food starting today since my hubby will be leaving thank goodness and all that constant eating will be gone!

AmmiUK 06-13-2006 08:03 AM

Patti - it's cool isn't it when we start to feel full after eating much less. My apologies for thinking you were making yourself finish meals when you didn't have the room :D

I hate to be a panic merchant, but remember when I looked up that link for Mel about heel spurs? Well I read that the more you work out the worse it gets and if you don't rest up or seek medical intervention asap then you will more than likely end up needing surgery on the thing! So as good as you are taking pain killers and keeping on going, it's not necessarily the best thing you could be doing. You really need to go see a doctor.

Hugs,

Ammi

toofatforu 06-13-2006 08:47 AM

oo i think i do ! i will be seeing a DR. i have also cut back on my exercise to 2 times a day for sixty minutes total of course this week unless i get up early it may sporadic due to workers working!

going to lose 200 06-13-2006 08:51 AM

Morning guys! Finally sunny here (it has been raining for what seems like 2 weeks now) so I will do personals later. Right now I have to hang out the laundry and get some grub into me. I am already 2 hrs behind which isnt the greatest way to start the day. Tonight we are going "shed" hunting. We need an outbuilding for our "crap" so we found a guy who builds them cheaper than we can build our own about 45 minutes away. Going to pay him a visit tonight.

OK I am off for now. I'll be back when the laundry is done!
Brenda

MsCrockett 06-13-2006 10:03 AM

Wyllenn and Ammi~ Thanks for giving me your opinions on the matter of birthday tradition...... I am just thinking about things.. not making a decision as of yet.. We will see how it goes Sunday, I am pretty sure I will be consistent with my Life as it is now... but we shall see.... The only thing on kilter I have done in 4 1/2 months is drink too many beers on 2 occasions.. other than that I have been right on track....

AmmiUK 06-13-2006 11:32 AM

Brenda - it's so weird to hear that you have had two weeks of rain there. Here for the first time in a LONG time we have had two weeks of glorious hot weather. It's been a real treat. Today it has rained for the first time and of course it had to be the day I had washing to dry outside. It's now hanging inside, but I did get one load dry outside before the rain started.

Patti - I am glad you are cutting back on your exercise and that you will go see a doctor, I will email you the link I put on here before so that you can read the info yourself. Saves you going back to look for it amongst all the posts.

Crock - whatever you decide to do for your birthday I hope you will be made to feel special by your friends and family and that you will have a lovely day.

Got to go now, but in the words of Arnie, I'll be back :D

Hugs,

Ammi :grouphug:

Weigh-In Day for Me!!

Morning Everyone!! So, I jumped on the scale today...and those couple swimming sessions sure helped along with my regular calorie counting...I am 5 pounds down for the week!!!! That's the same as all 3 previous weeks combined, lol!! (Lost 2, 2, then 1pd previously) So that's a total loss of 10 pounds in 4 weeks - yay!! :carrot: I have a horrbile cold and sore throat, but that weigh-in is just making me so happy that the cold doesn't matter, lol! Pushing my ticker all the way to the right was GREAT, haha. My next goal is to complete another 10pd ticker in the next 5 weeks. :)
Have a great day everyone! Stay on track!!

Melissa :cb: :carrot: :cb:

MsCrockett 06-13-2006 01:16 PM

Congratulations Melissa on your loss.. woooooooooo hooooooooooo.. you go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
