Wow!!! Thanks Nancy for sending me that link. I didn't realize so many doctors were pushing people to get the surgery done. I figured if a doctor was that concerned to have me attend a bypass seminar than maybe I should seriously be considering it.

Thinthinker I checked out some of the threads on the WLS area and now I'm intrigued by this lap band procedure. It seems much less drastic and it's also removable. One woman returned to work only after a week. The hospital near me only does the RNY procedure though.

Well, there sure is a lot of info out there to think about. I have a doctor's appointment on the 14th to renew my prescriptions and meet my new doctor (my old doctor moved on). I'm curious to see if this doctor will encourage the bypass surgery as well. Hmmm....

I heard about the surgery that is not permanant too. Except they say you gain 20% of your weight back pretty quickly! I don't know I have had this surgery run through my mind so many times too. It is so scary to me, but also seems like that quick fix I always day dream about! *humnph* stupid fatness. *shakes fist at own belly*

Nightowl: I have a few questions. What is your BMI. That is the most important thing. How is your health? I would be leary of a doctor who wants to do major surgery on somebody, who has not yet had bad effects of being overweight...their main goal is to make money. A lot of times they will tell us all these stats on how many people lost weight with it, but what about the mortality rate, and did any of these individuals gain the weight back, did they have better health post surgery. The lap-band is much better...especially since you are NOT morbidly obese. I know people that have had both surgeries. I have a friend Lisa, who got it done and she was 300+ lbs and she lost the weight fast...she has tons of health problems. She looks thin, but kind of funny...like a long chicken neck, but that is just my opinion. She got pregnant post surgery and had her baby premature...the baby was extremely small and she had a hard time feeding the child. Something to consider it you want children. She is thin, but at what price. Now the other friend Cindy got it done and she was 400+ she lost 100lbs in a short time and that is it...yes she is still 300+ lbs and having a hard time lossing it. One of the things she said is that your body gets used to the small pouch and you still gain weight if you don't eat right. All of them had problems with throwing up.

Now the Lap-band friends. One friend was about your same weight, she lost 30lbs and that is it. She had so many health problems before surgery and even more after. Now my other friend...she lost over 100 lbs and looked great...she started having problems because she couldn't take her medication with out it getting stuck. So the doctors removed to band. She quickly gain 50lbs back and now is in the process of getting it placed again. If I had to do it...I would do the Lap band.

Note to self...all of them had saggy skin. Palmers just came out with a new cream that helps with that...but I am not sure if it will work.

I will be behind you what ever you decide. But, please weight the pros and the cons of doing surgery. The only reason why I considered it was because I have several chronic illnesses and it could help with that. But, if you are not already sick, I hope you decide to do the least evasive solution. There are also a lot of new medications out there that help with weight loss...that is if you are healthy. I can't take them because I have thyroid problems.

To be honest with you...if I had the money and my insurance covered the Lap Band I would get it done. I would never get the Bypass because I feel food is life, and I love to eat and try new kinds of foods, if I could not eat then what kind of life would that be for me. IE. I went to Barcelona and all I really talk about is the food that James and I ate...not anything else. It is important to me to try stuff. But that is just me.

Dusty: we must be twins...I love U2. I followed them in concert in Chicago, then Wincostin, and Milwakee. I have seen them so many times.

I made some baked apples today...oh so good. I am going to go out and buy some more apples. I also made a quiche for my hubby and Cammy...tried it and so yummy. Unfortunately I can't eat it. Too much cheese and eggs and yummy stuff. I might eat a small slice for breakfast.

I am going to start the belly dancing on Sat. I will let you all know how it goes.

Did some crunchs yesterday but I lost track of how many. I did crunch then held it for 10 secs then released...and kept repeating it. I lost track of them.

Thanks for all of your post and replies to my many issues. I have cried, and now I am looking forward to finding out what is going to happen.

Do you all have iPods?

I don't work out to music...well, dont do a big work out...I go to Target for my walking. But, I am going to start walking soon. So would like to do the music thing.

Hi ladies,

How are you all doing? Thanks for the advice about the gastric bypass. I like hearing what everyone's opinion is on it. I'm actually watching one of those plastic surgery shows right now (Dr. 90210) and a doc is doing surgery on a 21 year old girl who had gastric bypass. She lost 120lbs. Her stomach and even her "private" area are being worked on due to excess skin. I never thought of the private area being affected too, but it makes sense. That area is plumper as well when you're overweight so there must be excess skin there as well.

Tanya, my BMI is 48.1%. I believe that is considered morbidly obese. I have history of heart disease in my family. My father died of a heart attack 3 years ago, he was only 58. And my mom had quadruple bypass 5 years ago. She had her first heart attack when she was only 43. That scares the *bleep* out of me. I am on cholesterol and blood pressure medication right now. In fact, that was one of the reason's why my doc wanted me to look into the gastric bypass surgery. She thought it would be covered under my health insurance because I am already on those meds.

Well, enough about me. How are you holding up? Be sure to keep us updated on your son's condition. Also, I want to hear all about this bellydancing class once you start taking it. I actually contacted a local bellydancing class back in January (through email) and I asked if it mattered that I was over 300lbs and if you needed to be in good shape to attend. The lady responded back that the women who attend her class are all different shapes and sizes and she has no concerns about my weight. Sometimes I think I make a bigger deal out my weight than others do. Anyway, be sure to let us know if you like the class.

Also, are you saying that you want to join in on the CD swap with us? I have tons of music on my computer, but they are all MP3s. Does your CD player play MP3s? I think if the CD player was bought within the past 5 years it will play them.


Dusty, I guess I'm a shorty compared to you ladies. I'm only 5'5, which isn't really short, just on the shorter side of average. :lol: Does that make any sense? Did you get my PM? I replied back to you and gave you my email address. I didn't hear back from you yet. You're probably busy.

Hey there Nighty, i dont know about the music swap. I could do CD's because I got my stereo back in the 80's....yes, back in highschool and it still jams. I got it back when CD's just came out...I was a cool girl in school. It has a 5 disc changer, plus a double tape deck, it used to have a turn table, but I put that away....it dated me too much. Atleast I am still not using Atrack.

I did sit up tonight...60. I also went walking around a store for a couple of hours. I left with only one thing. I want to put a bunch of cool music on my iPod and start walking. I am getting a bike on friday. I am getting a PeeWee Hermen looking bike. I figure with a big a$$ seat to match my butt. I already have the kid carring thing for the back. I just hope my butt is not in Camdons face too much. Poor Kid.

I haven't heard any thing from the docs. I am just messing with Medicaid, and Insurance right now. What a pain.

You know those Extreme Home Makeovers...I am going to be appling for one. I hope they sellect us. I need to work on the aplication and the video. Our house isn't too much of a mess, it is just really old. Especially the window, they are single paign and are cracked and also don't close all the way. The house is really hot during the summer. I also think it would just be a great encouragement to my family to get a re-do on the house. It is not very child proof-especially for a kid that has seizures.

Wishful thinking...We will see.

IF MY BODY WERE A CAR

If my body were a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model.

I've got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish and my paint job is getting a little dull, but that's not the worst of it.



My headlights are out of focus and it's especially hard to see things up close.

My traction is not as graceful as it once was.

I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather.


My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins.


It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed.


My fuel rate burns inefficiently.


But here's the worst of it --

Almost every time I sneeze, cough or sputter...either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires!

Nightowl: Congrats on the 4lbs! About the starting a new thread thing the people in the other group told me they do it because some people are on dial up and its faster for those folks. Quite frankly thatís one of the reasons I'm here. I can't keep up with the posts over there with the small amount of time I have to respond whenever I can. I hope this thread doesn't start anew personally. :) Oh and I pick the blue swimsuit. Its definitely more flattering. Can't say I'm a fan of the green.

The thing about gastric bypass is that if you do lose the weight you donít lose the reasons behind overeating. Once you have it done you are limited for life to eating small amounts of food the size of your fist or something like that. Plus you can die. I wouldnít do it. Losing weight fast can make you have fat rolls too. Just a thought.


Dusty: Congrats on the 3lb loss! And great idea about writing stuff in Word. J

I think your goal date is the right way to go. Dr. Phil wrote about that in his book as well. As for it being a long time, this weight loss thing is a lifelong thing cause once you get to goal you are maintaining for life.

I totally agree that food is a social thing Ė which is a big problem for me and a lot of people I think. Not being able to celebrate and have all we want is a bummer but really itís the only way if you want to be thin. If you set your mind to be bitter about not joining in, you will be. The time you spend with family shouldnít be centered around the food but the company. Donít get me wrong, I understand. Its that way here too.

When I get together with family I like to cook a nice meal, and usually that used to mean slathering on butter or high calorie sauces. Now I try and come up with something good that is healthy and really they have complimented me on how great it tastes. Its not easy but for me now itís a lifestyle and Iím trying to get to the finish line. Maybe you could be the role model to get them to eat healthier.

On the tall question Ė Iím 5í5 which Iíd like to think is average even if my 6í2 husband thinks not. ;)

I wanted to weigh in on going to bed hungry as well. Often hunger is mistaken for thirst, although Iím not insisting it wasnít hunger. If you are going to bed hungry maybe you arenít choosing foods with enough fibre to keep you full.

Our boy got his 4 month needles yesterday and wouldnít you know it got a fever as well. My motherís intuition told me he was fine but Daddy was worried so we ended up going to outpatients. Heís perfectly fine and was a completely good boy at the ER not crying at all for the 3 hours we were there. What are the odds of that?

On the way home hubby got McDonalds and I didnít get any. Even though I was starving since we left before supper I decided I would have my planned pizza lasagne meal tomorrow instead and bank my calories came home had a bowl of cereal and went to bed. Some days are better than others for making good choices but so far so good. Try and keep track of those days you screw up, there might be a pattern so you can plan for your overages. Just a thought.

I havenít been able to get on to 3FC cause hubby borrowed a board game (Warcraft) from a friend and weíve been playing non-stop. Finally tonight I get a break. :dizzy:

I think we might have found a dog toy that is indestructible. I hope by saying that I havenít jinxed myself either. We have been through a myriad of toys and our AmStaff has burned through them all. This one is made of Kevlar nylon I believe and so far so good (its been 5 days I think.) It stinks though so its in the wash. He loves it though. We call it the Ďbambooí cause it has a little tag that says that on the front. I donít want to recommend it yet Ė but if it lasts much longer I will!

Sorry I’ve been out of the loop for the past several days. We had 2 graduations this past weekend in my husband's side of the family, so we were busy with ceremonies and family gatherings and I got no exercise and my eating wasn't the best. Sunday night my husband’s oldest daughter dropped off her 9 month old son and I had to babysit Sunday night and all day yesterday. I didn’t get a minute to myself and got no sleep or exercise again. (I refuse to refer to myself as a “step-grandmother” since I’m only 39 and I’ve never had children of my own – the word just makes me depressed).

So today is a new day and I finally managed to get some exercise in.
It sounds like everyone’s been busy and had a lot going on.

Tanya, I’m so sorry for all that you little guy is going through. I know it’s got to be heart-wrenching to see him go through so much. I saw his picture on your “myspace” page and is so adorable! I am a Christian and I am definitely keeping your family in my prayers. That would be SO COOL if you got chosen for the Extreme Home Makeover show. I love watching that show. I wish I could get a home makeover, but know I would never qualify.

I think taking Camdon for walks is a great thing because it gets him out to enjoy the outdoors and have bonding time with “mommy”, plus it gives you exercise at the same time. I babysit my stepdaughter’s son usually 3 or 4 evenings a week while she is at work and have been wanting to take him for walks, but the stroller I have for him is too short for me and it causes me severe back pain, so I finally found a taller stroller at a garage sale a couple of weeks ago and now I love taking him for a walk every chance I get. It really calms him down.

I also think it’s so great that your friend is moving to San Antonio. I miss having my best girlfriends living close by. I get so lonely. It’s been the hardest thing for me to adjust to living so far away from everyone. I have a few friends here, but no one that I would consider a close friend.


Dusty, kudos to your for getting up early and exercising!!! It is sooooooooo hard to wake up early to exercise, so I admire your willpower for doing it!

As far as a cd exchange, I haven’t really been listening to music that much during my work-outs lately, but have been listening to audio books for the past couple of months. I don’t know why, but I’ve gotten almost addicted to them right now. I go to the library and check out a book on cd every week and listen to it while I’m exercising. And when I’m not listening to audio books, I usually listen to contemporary Christian music, which probably wouldn’t be very popular for the CD exchange, but I think that’s a great idea for those interested to do the CD exchange.


Also, I think I’ve already mentioned how tall I am, but if not, I’m 6 ft tall, so regardless of my weight, I’ve always been a “big girl” by most people’s standards. God I can’t stand it when people/strangers say “gosh, you’re a big girl!” or “man, you’re so big!!”, especially in social setting in front of lots of people. I don’t mind saying it about myself with my close friends or if my girlfriends (that are also really tall or overweight) say it to each other in a private conversation or in a kidding way, but for strangers and people that don’t really know me to say that, it feels like they’re trying to humiliate me. And the other pet peeve, which I’m sure we’ve all heard “You have such a pretty face…..it you just lost some weight, you’d be a knock out!!” Do people really think that we would think that was a compliment?? I guess they think that overweight women don’t really get complimented much so we would just jump for joy at any back-handed compliment. Okay, sorry about that…enough ranting about things that irk me.

Tanya mentioned “going to bed hungry” a few days ago. I too, go to bed hungry some nights because I have a rule of not eating past 7:00 p.m. and sometimes by the time I go to bed at 11:00 PM or midnight, I’m hungry, but force myself not to get up and go raid the fridge at that time of night. According to Oprah’s trainer and nutritionist, Bob Greene, the hunger you feel late at night is a good thing and that means your body is losing fat. It sounds logical to me, so whenever I start feeling hunger pangs late at night I try to imagine my fat melting away at that moment.

Nightowl, wow, the whole gastric bypass thing is a huge decision. I know it’s not something I could do unless my life literally depended on it. I just know myself to well and like Dusty mentioned about the social aspects of food. I enjoy going out from time-to-time with friends and family and having a nice, relaxing meal and a couple of glasses of wine, etc. It’s a treat for me since my husband and I can’t afford to do it very often. I know I would go into a major depression if I knew I couldn’t enjoy going out to a nice restaurant and have a steak or whatever, again. I know a few people personally that have had weight loss surgery and none of them seemed to be really happy with their decision. My mom’s best friend’s daughter had it 2 years ago and lost 160 pounds, but she just looks sickly all the time. I’ve only seen her once since she had it and a few pictures since she is in Texas, but my mom talks to me about her all the time. She still has problems keeping food down and even though she takes all sorts of vitamins and nutrients to replace all those that she can’t get from food any longer, my mom says she looks so unhealthy (skin, hair, nails all look unhealthy because she doesn’t get enough fat in her diet) and she’s virtually become a hermit because she’s so depressed that she can’t eat normally and can’t eat any of her favorite foods ever again. She originally had the surgery because she thought she would snag a boyfriend/husband once she lost the weight, but now she rarely leaves her house or goes out socially because she’s so depressed and doesn’t want to watch people enjoy a meal. The other person I know that had WLS (bariatric surgery, I believe) was a lady I used to work with many years ago. Her husband was about 500 pounds and she was over 400. Her husband did not have the surgery, but she did. She lost a lot of weight, but never looked good because she had all the loose skin hanging and since her husband didn’t change his eating habits, she eventually fell back into eating back too and last time I heard from my former co-workers, she had gained back nearly everything she had lost before the surgery. I’m sure these may be some extreme cases, as I’m sure there are thousands of people who have had the surgery and it saved their lives and they are happy with their decision, but my personal opinion is -- regardless of if people have weight loss surgery or not, if they don’t deal with the emotional issues of WHY they are overweight in the first place, I don’t think many will be truly happy even after they lose all the extra pounds, because they are still carrying around all the emotional pounds with them.

Well, this has turned into a novel and I’ve got to watch the baby again in about 30 mins so I’ve got to get off here.

Hi guys! Sorry I’m so slow these days. I feel so so busy plus my early bedtime sorta cuts about 4 hours off my internet time. But I am feeling healthier because of that—and that is good. Plus it makes me work out, and that is GREAT. I just have to workout, I feel so good all day. Plus now everyone in my life is asking me. Even my silly boss who comes in every morning with wet hair and says “did you work out!?” it’s crazy yet motivating.

I received a new job today. I will be designing the website for the Office of Provost for my University. Tomorrow I have to teach a class on using a website called Community of Science (COS) which is the system the university and I use to search for grants and funding opportunities for research. So tomorrow I teach a room full of bio-physicists and Eco-chemists and what ever else!! They think I am an adult employee of the university, if they knew I was an undergraduate student I’m sure they would not even come. So my boss and I keep up the façade. I’m a little nervous!

OK guys I’ll write personals later. I have a lot to say (what’s new) but my fingers wont let me say it. I still can’t write my poems. It’s becoming the bane of my existence. Eeek. Ok girls—on the flip side!

Hey girls, My hubby is back in school. He is so stressed out. We also found out today that we are going to be losing SSI (that we get for Camdons disabilities) and also Medicaid. That is goign to be tuff. So, if he needs surgery, we need to get it done soon, or we will be in a million dollar debt again. Lots of stress. I was really edgy today and just wanted to walk out of the house and get some time to myself. Now, that James is home I am in the office with the door closed. Camdon came in here for a little bit and climbed under my desk and started pulling on my mouse cord. Finally I am alone...yes. I absolutely love them both, but sometimes it is nice to be able to hear yourself think. I had some music playing and I even had to turn that off....it was getting on my nerves. I think I need to start doing yoga...tonight!

Heather:I saw Eva and Tony at a place called Piatti's. It is a nice place...a bit uppidy. They on the other hand were dressed in shorts and T-shirts. She was wearing a ball cap, and her hair was all ratty. It is actually a bit wavy and high lighted. They were with a bunch of their friends or his friends...they were speaking french as they walked by our table.

That is about all I can tell you. You know I know this is a stupid question, but you live in Canada right?...Where is Niagra Falls? I was talking to my DH about it and we couldn't remember. We would like to go there some day. I have been to Vancover, and Victoria, but haven't been to the eastern part of Canada. I hear it is very different from the west. I think James would like east better due to food. I hear the food is better in the east. You can just tell me I am being a stupid american if you want. Just curious.

Went out to dinner tonight. Went to this place called the 410 diner...love it. But I swar our waitress was on coke. She was shaking like she needed a fix. I sent my plate back 2 times...I know what you are thinking, what a pain in the a$$. But, hear me out. I ordered fish with out butter sause with artichoke and mushrooms. The first time I got fish with no sauce but it had sliced almonds all over it. I sent it back. The second time, it had the artichokes and the mushrooms, and a heck of a lot of butter on it. It looked like a whole stick. I told her, you put butter on it...she was all, you want me to take it back...yeah. No butter. I was ticked. I was so clear when I ordered my food. Camdon and James finished their food before I got mine. Finally I got it...Just perfect. It was so good...eventhough they may have spit on it...tasted good to me.

Like I said...need to do yoga tonight so will do that. Hubby is on the TV watching Rescue Me...I am too stressed to watch it right now.

I am wearing a size 28 and it is big on me. I started out wearing a 32, and barely fitting into it. Now the 28's are getting big. I want to go through my closet and pack up all my fat clothes and give it away. There is no going back. I need to be determined about this.

I feel like I want to eat. I am not hungry, but very emotional tonight...just want to feed those emotions. You know sometimes you want to escape from life, but there really isn't anything you can do. I stopped praying a long time ago, and that used to help. But, that is a whole other issue. I think I need to go to the park, be with nature. I just don't know any more...just overwhelmed...and I can't spell either.

I am looking forward to belly dancing class. I am really shy by nature, and hope this helps me to make new friends. Can't wait.

Hi Ladies!

Not much going on with me today. I just got outta work. I was proud of myself tonight because at work the break room was full of goodies from an afternoon celebration party. Warning: trigger foods ahead ..........................................there were Tostitos and salsa, fudge brownies, cheesecake, cookies, and a fruit salad all left over from the day's festivities. Well, my guys (I'm a supervisor of 3 men!) all went over and grabbed themselves a plate of goodies and came back to show me the treasures they found. So, I took a walk over myself to grab some chips (I love Tostitos) and the fruit salad was just sitting there right next to them. It was a test of my will, I tell ya!!! :lol: So, I gave it a thought and then grabbed myself a bowl of fruit salad!! I walked back to my guys with it and they all cocked their heads to the side in confusion. I just smiled at them and said (with sarcasm) "I opted for the healthier choice, boys!". I was so proud of myself!! :angel:

Kaybee, wow your week sounded busy. Sorry to hear you didn't get to fit in as much exercise as you would've liked (and we all know how much you love your exercise! ):)

Oh, and I can TOTALLY relate with you about people making comments on having such a pretty face... yada yada yada. I am so sick of hearing it too! You're right, do people really think that's a compliment to us? Maybe we should tell them "Wow, you have such a great body. If you just got a nose job (or whatever), you'd be a knockout!!!" How much do you think they'd appreciate that? :lol: Why would anyone want to point out another person's flaw? As if we don't know what we look like? Some people are just ignorant I guess.

Thanks for the advice on the WLS. Everyone here has convinced me that it's not the best way to go. I know a lot of the horror stories I've heard have been extreme cases, but there's nothing that guarantees it wouldn't happen to me. And like I said in an earlier post, my brother has Crohn's disease and had practically all of his intestines removed. He has to be on vitamins and supplements for the rest of his life too because his body doesn't absorb enough nutrients. It's very sad to watch him struggle like that, so why would I want to bring that on myself?


Tanya, isn't it so cool when you go down a size in clothes? Congrats on the 28s feeling big!

Tell me about this yoga that you're doing. I've never tried it but it's always intrigued me. You and I seem to like the same "unconventional" types of exercises, huh? I guess it beats the boring old stuff. So, what type of yoga do you do? Isn't pilates a type of yoga too? Do you watch a video or do you do it from a book? Are the positions hard to get in for people our size? Do you meditate too? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, I just want to learn more about it.

In a few of your posts you've mentioned being hungry at certain times. Like when you're ready for bed, or when you're feeling overwhelmed or down. I think Heather had a good idea about journaling your feelings and writing down times that you get those feelings. Maybe you can find a pattern to these urges. It could make it easier to deal with them if you know when you're expecting one to come on. I seem to be the same way. I have alot of up and down moments as well, and thoughts of food always play a role in those moments. I need to get to the root of my emotional eating problem. I'm sure it's rarely an actual physical hunger that I'm feeling. It's more of an emotional or mental hunger. I'm not saying this is true for you, but it's food for thought (how cheesy, huh?). :lol:

Way to go turning down the McDs that your hubby had. That's willpower! I don't think I could've done that. I think I have a weakness for McDs food. I don't know why either, it's soooooo unhealthy and disgusting!!! I just crave it for some reason. I want to watch that documentary film called "Supersize Me". Have you heard about it? It's about this guy who does an experiment to prove how unhealthy fast food is. I guess there's all these rules he makes for himself. Like he has to eat McDs food for a whole month - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He has to try at least everything on the menu within the month, and if they ask him if he wants to supersize the meal then he does. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I guess he gets really sick from it all. They interview his doctor and show his cholesterol stats and stuff. I want to watch it in hopes that it will discourage me from eating fast food anymore.

Dusty: Awesome news on the new job! Donít downplay your abilities by saying that if they knew you were an undergrad the people wouldnít come. :nono: There must be a reason why they asked you in the first place!

Tanya: Are you losing your health insurance because hubby is now going to school? Was it his choice to go back now? I mean Iím all for extending oneís education but where your boy needs a lot of medical help right now it sounds like it isnít a welcome time for it.

Niagara Falls is in Ontario Ė which is in central Canada. The falls are shared by the state of New York as well I believe. We lived about 2 hours from them a few years ago. Hubby wanted to go see them but I told him I wasnít interested in going to such a huge tourist trap. I regret it now. Maybe weíll get there some time on our travels which is likely since he is military.

Iím biased if you ask about eastern Canada cause I was born here. Iíve been as far west as Alberta and lived in Saskatchewan (Saskatchewan Ė a province so flat you can see your dog run away for days.) Hubbyís from there and I canít say I liked it very much. Being an east coaster, and not having many trees around, not to mention the ocean, makes you homesick. Anyway we are back here now and itís such a better quality of life.

The east coast is famous for its fabulous fresh lobster and other fresh seafood. The food is good up here, and people love to eat it. Iíd say the west coast is more metropolitan and the east coast is down to earth. That being said, Montreal (in Quebec) is an east coast city and its as progressive and metropolitan as they come. And that concludes your geography lesson for today. :lol3:

If your order is wrong, then there is no reason not to send it back. This has happened to us a few times and Iíve done the same thing. The manager has come out the handful of times to comp our meal for us. I think its important for them to take the other meal back and keep it warm so we can all eat together but hey thatís just me. For some reason whenever we go out to restaurants we always have something screwed up. I mean its good in a way cause we get our order free but at the same time jeez!

I think its absolutely important to throw out your fat clothes once you lose your weight. Keeping them in the closet is just another way of giving yourself permission to fall off your plan. I did it. I know that bigger clothes are more expensive but its worth it. I give mine to a place called Value Village so someone else can get some use out of them. I love that store! I canít wait to need new clothes so I can shop there.

I donít want to come across as preachy. :soap: It hurts to see someone so overwhelmed by lifeís trials and not have an outlet or higher being to ascribe to. I know that you said that you fell out with God a while ago. As Iíve been reading your posts and others posts on how they have lost their religion I have been trying to know what to say. Why would God let bad things happen? The bible says in order for us to appreciate the good in life we have to struggle with the bad. Not exactly what anyone wants to hear, I know. We donít know the reason why our children have to suffer but in the end there is a reason even if its just not for us to know.

If my child was sick or dying, Iím not sure what Iíd do or feel. I do know when I pray I feel better. Sometimes you just have to give your worries and stress to God and ask him to take it on himself, or so it says.

I hope that you arenít further upset by my words. I can only imagine how difficult and upsetting your life is right now with your son needing surgery. I just felt I needed to say that and remind you that God must love you if he has given you such a beautiful child. Maybe he knew that only you could take care of this little angel like no one else in the world. After all arenít all our children angels in disguise? This one needed the special mothering skills that only you could provide.

I have to admit, Iím real nervous to be delving into religion here. Iím definitely not one to jump into *taboo subjects* with people I barely know. If you are gonna lay into me :rollpin: tell me first so I can at least duckÖ :frypan:

Nightowl: :bravo: on choosing the fruit salad. That must have been truly difficult. It must have given you great pleasure to surprise your male co-workers though at the same time. :lol2:

To be honest, McDonalds really isnít my thing. I do crave a Big Mac every once in a while but for the most part Iíd rather have a home-made burger instead of a high fat thin scrawny one. Iím a pizza person myself - but lets not get into that, cause once I start thinking about them... ;)

Its overcast here and still not warm enough to open the windows at night. What bizarre weather we are getting this year!

Hubby is sleeping due to a headache but when he wakes up Iím sure heíll want to play more Warcraft: The Boardgame.

Tons of books I reserved are in at the library and Iíll pick them up tomorrow after groceries. Finally something new to read. Lots of Dr. Seuss.

I know some of you ĎFitdayí but for those who donít what do you eat? I tend to repeat what I eat a lot until I get tired of it. Usually I'll have a roll sandwich with deli meat or flakes of something and a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese for my breakfast, usually another sandwich for lunch with maybe some fruit and then later in the evening a larger meal. I know this contadicts some people's no food after whatever time of the day but I find I'm just hungrier at night. I like to save my calories for later in the day to have that to look forward to as well.

Heather: No fury here. I don't mind it when people tell me straight up what they think, I prefer that verces being phony. I hear you about the prayer thing...I did used to make me feel better. I will start sometime this week. I pray with Camdon every night, but that is for him, I need to be real with God especially how I am feeling. It is starting to really eat me up inside. I used to go to this church that was really abusive, and that also hurt my relationship too. So, I need to really look at the truths of God, and not at what was projected to me through others in that church.

Now, about school. He has been in grad school for about a year and will be finished next summer. We are lossing SSI because in Sept. at his job we get paid 3 times and not 2 and that puts us over for the income. They don't look at yearly income but monthly. We are barely making it right now, so it is tough. We all have insurance, just Cammy has an extra insurance with Medicaid. So we are in a cruntch to get the craneo surgery done soon, so they cover it. James works full time as a therapist for the criminally insane...good job, and they let him work around school. Now, once Camdon is in school I will work or go to grad school. I was in grad school when I was pregnant with Camdon, but it was tough halling around that big tummy and butt. We are also planning on getting pregnant next year, so that is a whole other thing. Once James finishes school money will be a lot better.

I am also an artist and have been wanting to start doing that and selling stuff on the side. I need to get a show going.

NightOwl: great job on the salad...I am with you on the tortilla chips. I have been working at cutting out corn in my diet, but corn chips are so hard to cut out, and corn tortillas. Let me stop.

Now...I go to myfooddiary.com to journal my food. It helps a lot because it shows me what kinds of foods are high in fat. I am trying to reduce my sat fat, and cholest. and this has helped. I go to WWatchers, but they limit the amount of caleries and tell you to choose low fat, but I found that I was not being balanced and that I needed to eat healthier then just lower cal. So that is why I am doing both. I really want to learn how to eat right. I am also getting to the point where I don't like the fattier foods...it is kind of nasty.

Yoga...I am not a pro. I do videos, stretching. I also meditate, but the way things are I do not get a lot of alone time, so it is hard to do that in caos. I love doing Pilates, actually more then Yoga, I love the breathing, and the peacefulness about it. I do videos, mainly. I know the cable has it and I haven't tried that yet. My class starts on Sat. I can't wait.

Well, yesterday was crazy. I went to this church fellowship group and I explained to them how I was feeling and that I needed prayer. BTW they all know me. And I was explaining how things just keep happening to Camdon...and after we talked Camdon fell down and cracked open his chin...so off to the emergency room again. He got 4 stitches...and raised a lot of ****. When the doctor walked in, she knew his history and all. It is sad to be regulars at a hospital. The crazy thing is that you get used to things happening.

What can I say...:dizzy:

I did bad today. I had pancakes (whole wheat) then for lunch I had tacos. I was going to be good...but then :devil: over came me. I had gotten 2 chicken tacos in corn tortillas and a bean and cheese for Cammy. He had already eaten but I love those and figured I would treat him...well, he fell asleep before we got home...I put him to bed and I ate his taco too. :D

I know, bad. I will eat healthy tonight. I have been trying to cut out white flour and corn products. So I blew it today. I am having a really hard time with the corn products...being Mexican and all, it is tough to not eat corn. My down fall is corn chips and tortillas.

My hubby and I are getting to go out on a date this friday night. I think we are going to go dancing. I hope so. My sister is the best sitter there is. They both have so much fun together and Cammy loves her and her girlfriend so much. If he can't get away with something with my sister then he goes to Susan...she is a softy.

I have to get my tattoo retouched. I saw it in the mirror the other day and noticed that the shading had faided. So I called my guy that does my tattoos and he is going to do it for free. I am goign to add more stuff to it. I am not sure what quite yet. I am going to draw out something. It took me forever to draw my original one out...what a pain. I am looking forward to not having any hang over on the tummy so I can get that pierced. I know, I sound a bit wild...I am not at all that wild...okay, maybe a little bit...okay, fine, I am wild...but you got to love me.

I know I am just going on and on and this has nothing to do with weight loss. I weigh in friday at noon, and I am looking forward to see where I am at. I will post it asap.

Hi Ladies!

Well, it looks like we've all been pretty busy these past few days. I haven't exactly stayed on plan either. I think I stayed within my calorie range, but I didn't diary my food so I'm not so sure. My ex-hubby called and asked if I wanted to go a casino down in Connecticut (it's about a 2 hour drive). We stayed overnight and had a blast. I didn't win anything, but he won about a $1000. We're very close to each other, in fact if you saw us together you'd probably think we're still a couple. We hold hands, we smooch once in awhile, and we still have an occassional "fling" here and there. He's reallly my best friend, but unfortunately we make better friends than a couple. It's strange I know, but somehow it works for us.

Tanya, your bellydancing class is tomorrow!!! I'm excited for you. I can't wait to hear ALL about it. How was your "date" with hubby? Sorry to hear about lil' Cammy's stitches. Kids will be kids though. They'll be many bumps and bruises along the way, especially little boys!

Way to go keeping up with the crunches! I haven't done any exercise this week. (Does walking around a casino for 2 days count?)

Hi, My name is Lynanne. I am 30 years old and I weigh 300.5 lbs. A few weeks ago, I weighed in at 306. This is the heaviest I have ever been. I had gotten down to 199 a couple of years ago, then I allowed bad habits back into my life and regained all 85 plus a few extra.

I have started exercising and at least being concious if I am hungry or not.

It is nice to find an interactive website.

This is a great site! Everyone is so supportive on here. Please jump in and start posting, we'd love to hear more about you. How did you lose the weight when you got down to 199? I think most of us here have been in your situation and lost a lot of weight at one time and then put it all back on again (and then some). There is something about hitting the 300lb mark that makes us scared and disappointed in ourselves. It's like one of those benchmark weights when we just know we have to do something about it!! We're all strapped into the same ride so welcome aboard!!

Also, I was thinking that since you did such a great job keeping up with the crunches this week.... I think you should pick next week's exercise challenge. Originally we were going to mix it up week to week and have the person who did the most choose the next exercise challenge. Sooooo, what will it be? Whatever you want us to do-- squats, jumping jacks, push ups (girlie style of course!), or anything else you want us to burn our butts too, you pick!


Dusty, I just noticed you have 2lbs to go before you are in the 200's. C'mon, you're almost there, you can do it!! I'm holding out my hand...... can you reach it? I'll pull you on over. Then they'll be two of us here to reach out to grab hold of the others. :) Teamwork ladies, we can do this!!!

Hey girls...please don't be disapointed...I didn't go to class. Last night James and I went out. We first started out with dinner, yummy, then went to a nice Jazz club. James wanted to go dancing to some club, booty shaking stuff, so we went. We were the oldest people there...not the fattest though. We danced and had a great time. I wore a top that, well, I looked like a hoochy mama, I never dress like that. At one point we were dancing and I was doing the butt dance (you know grinding) I was practicing my dance moves I learned earlier that week, but this dude pulls out his camera phone and started taking pictures....I don't think so. I had to stop dancing after that. I had a great time.

When we got home everything was hurting. My feet, back, legs...I am getting so old. This morning I woke up with a hangover and I didn't even drink. My feet still hurt. So I am goign to have to do the belly dancing next week.

Welcome Lynanne. I remember when I first found out I was over 300. I went in for a physical and a weighed 330. The doctor asked me how long I had been over 300, I told her I didn't know because this is the first time I knew I was over 300. I felt so bad, a major shoocker. But, you have come to the right place. Welcome, welcome.

Nightowl: sounds like a ton of fun. I love gambling...love it!!! I am a bit of a shark. We play cards with the girls here and love to take their money. Now that Dianna (best friend) is moving here to SA, we will start a regular game. Your EX sounds like fun...have fun with him, and there is no commitment.

Now I was thinking about the excersise for the week. What I love doing is walking around and shopping, not buying, but sight seeing. So this week go shooping, or go to a musium, or just do something fun, and unconvensional...crazy sex is included. Work out doing every day stuff. Have fun, and look forward to all the fun stories.

Got to go girls, I keep mistyping because I am so out of it, I need some coffee. As my son Camdon would sing, Cofffffeeee,cooooffffffffeeeee, cooooffffffeeeee. Yes, he sings a coffee song...i ask him "what does mama need, then he brakes into his song.

Hi ladies,

I have been doing horrible on my eating this week. I started getting sick on Tuesday (sore throat) and it just got gradually worse throughout the week. I guess I have a summer cold, or possibly allergies, but for the most part all I want to do it lie on the couch or sleep all day and eat comfort foods. I usually have a window of about 4 or so hours a day that I actually feel decent and I’ve still tried to maintain some exercise just so I don’t completely get off course. I haven’t felt much like cooking so I’ve bought a lot of “convenience foods” to feed the family or they have brought home take out and I have eaten way off my plan and ended up gaining a pound this week. I’m actually relieved it was only a pound, I thought it might be much worse. I can definitely feel a difference when I eat sugar, white flour products and processed foods versus when I don’t. I feel sluggish and I’m even more emotionally irritable when I eat like this. My goal for this week is to get back on track with my eating plan and get off the stuff my body doesn’t like.

Lynanne, welcome! I’m so glad you joined us. I hope to hear a lot more from you soon.

Tanya, I’m so sorry to hear about Camdon’s having to get stitches. Just what ya need with everything else going on! I hope he is doing okay and that ya’ll can somehow manage to not lose all your health benefits for Camdon.

It sounds like you and your hubby had a great time on your date night. My husband’s not a dancer, but I love to go out and watch people out on the dance floor sometimes. Too bad you didn’t go to the bellydancing class. I’d love to hear how that is.


Dusty, how did your class go? Wow, they must really think highly of you to give you that responsibility. I don’t remember if you mentioned in or not, but what are you majoring in? How much longer do you have before you graduate?

I didn’t realize how close you are to the 200s until I read nightowl’s post. That’s awesome!! I remember last year sometime in July I lost back down into the 200s and I swear I started crying when I saw the scale read 298! It had been about a year and a half since I had been in the 200s and I was starting to think I would never see it again. I had a completely new sense of confidence (and SWORE to myself I would never go over the 300 mark again…and we see where that got me). I expected to already be there again by now, but I’m not stressing about it, I know I will be there again soon. Last August I went to my 20 year high school reunion and I lost down to 284 by the time of the reunion. I’d love to get into the 280’s by Aug 31st and am going to make that a “mini-goal”. I’ve really come to realize this past year that the older I am getting the slower my body loses weight, which makes it all the more important to me to lose the weight for good this time.


Nightowl, I think it is so awesome that you and your ex husband can remain such good friends. It sounds like you two had a wonderful time. Sorry you didn’t win anything. Did your ex at least share some of his winnings???

Heather, I tend to repeat the same foods over and over as well. My typical lunch mon – fri is a turkey sandwich with whole wheat bread and an apple (sometimes a banana). It’s become almost ritualistic and I feel weird when I eat something different. I used to log my food into fitday, but haven’t in several months. I think I’ll start back.

Well, it’s going to be a beautiful day here and I’m feeling pretty decent at the moment, so I’m going to try to do something constructive with my time.[/COLOR]

WOW, we must all be super busy. This thread has been pretty quiet lately!! Hope everyone is doing ok. I don't know what's up with me these past few days. I seem to be in a slump of some sort. I just can't seem to motivate myself to stay on plan (or do anything really!). I've got to snap back into it!!!

Tanya, I have to admit I was a little disappointed about not getting to hear about your bellydance class. I'm just so curious about it. I know, I know, I should stop being a wimp and go check it out for myself, right? :kickbutt: Anyway, you sure had a great reason for not going!! Way to go with your dancing night-on-the-town with hubby. It sounds like you guys had a blast!! You needed a fun release like that anyway.

As far as your challenge this week, I already got in 1 1/2 hours shopping!!! Yay!! I didn't buy anything either, which is a surprise for me. I need to buy a gift for my friend's baby shower this Saturday and then I got another friend's birthday coming up next weekend too, so I know I'll get a few more hours in this week!!


Kaybee, sorry to hear you were sick last week. I hope you're feeling better now. I know what you mean about white flour and processed foods making you feel sluggish. I think that's what's going on with me this week. I have absolutely NO motivation to stay on plan. I actually don't feel like doing anything but sleeping. :?: I hate feeling like this. What diet plan are you doing again? Sorry, I forgot and I'm too tired to sort through the old posts to find out right now. Are you doing a low carb or just limiting carbs? I think I might try doing that. I need something to boost my energy.

Dusty, like I said earlier in the post I have no motivation to do anything. Sorry, but that included sending out your CDs. :o I still haven't mailed them yet, but it's on my to-do list for Tuesday. You'll get them soon, I promise!

Hi girlssss!

I have some time to write to you for onceómainly because I am sick and in bed with my laptop used as a heating pad for my tummy (Itís amazing how well this works). I went to work today but ended up coming home. I think itís something I ate yesterday, we went to a BBQ joint for my dadís birthday *rolls eyes* I had a chicken ceasar salad and the chicken was grislyóuhhhg. If I have to eat salads at a BBQ place they better be GOOD at least. *grumble*

Okóso I wrote a poem yesterday. Woowoo. I let the match, now just waiting for the fire to grow so I can get this done. Itís like tortureóas if being fat wasnít enoughónow I have to be successful and creative too.

My neighbors had a tree cut down and well, to make a long story short, these jerks think that our land is their land. So they stacked all the wood in HUGE unusable pieces on out side of the fence. Next thing I know, my little Sammy (my 10 pound mini weenie dog) comes in COVERED in tree sap. OH MY GOD. Now my dog is a lot like me, when he is covered in sticky goo, matted into his fur, then blackened from dirt, he gets depressed. I tried to wash him off. It wasnít happening. He got sadder and sadder, and started laying in the middle of the floor all day and crying with every exhale. Yes a long whine. Every other second. I can take my little baby this sad and upsetóplus that whine was quite hard to live with. So I looked up on the internet how to wash him off. BUTTER! Butter gets sap out of fur. In desperation, I searched the fridge and found a stick of butter. Hmmm I was hoping for something softer. Butter in a tub. But all I had was bummel and brown and that might not have done it. So I took him to the bathtub and began to warm up the butter and rub it on him. This is not my finest moment, people. So he whimpered ever more and tried to get away. The sap was coming off but I had to coat him, I ended up using two whole sticks. Then he got away and ran through the house before I could catch him and haul him back for the water part of the bath. You can imagine the little buttery fingerprints down the hall and on the living room couch. So I discover butter is oily and stinky, and it doesnít like coming off easily.

So yes I locked him in the bathroom (where he sat and happily liked the butter off himself.) and went to look up ďhow to remove butter from a dogĒ. This is not common knowledge apparently. So I tried to think what Might do it and decided upon dawn dishsoap. It worked mostly. Though and I BOTH still smell like butter, he is a little more lemony fresh than me. I had to scrub the carpets, the couch, my clothes, my skin, and finally the bathtub needed to be scrubbed good. It STILL smells like butter. I got my neighbors to cover the wood with a tarp but they were *****y about it. So yes-fun fun fun.

I think this sick day, despite the upset tummy, can also be called a mental health day. Because I am totally shattered right now. I ddnít work out today or yesterday and I donít feel bad about it. I think I just hit a burn out and tomorrow I will hop back on my feet and start over. For nowÖlaying here with my laptop, thatís my activity for today. Hehe.

Nightowl: Donít worry about the CDís I havenít even made yours yet!! I am much worse than you! I will try to do some today even but like usual, I donít know how things will go. It looks like weíre in a collective slump! Well letís get goingÖtomorrowÖafter I sleep inÖ.and shop on ebay a littleÖmaybe start again the day after tomorrow come to think of itÖor maybe next MondayÖitís always good to start on a MondayÖOr how about next year hehehehe. Tanya: Dancing with your hubby always overrules belly dancing any day of the week so Iím not disappointed too much. I was just wondering how you felt in the classes. You seem like someone who has more confidence than me though so I sit here biting my fingernails and imagining myself in that class. Iíd me the girl in the back in a long coat and a hat and sunglasses with a face so red I look like a trussed up tomato. I am proud of you for doing itÖor thinking about doing it. Of course Iím the one so shy I canít even imagine having a hubby let alone a dance class.

Sorry about Cammy getting stitches. Thatís always hard! Poor baby. That little angel needs a break!

Kaybee, Sorry you are under the weather. I always get sore throats too. I swear they hurt so bad sometimes you just wanna lay there and let a car run you over. But my gramma always made me eat this nasty stuff that actually works. I swear itís the most disgusting thing ever. But, it works when your throat is so raw you canít stand it. You mix one part honey and one part vinegar. I know YUCK. But one teaspoon every few hours and you are good as gold. Your throat stops hurting. Itís amazing. I used it to get through school. I took it in a container and took a teaspoon before each class. It was sooo nasty. And I cheated and put more honey in than usual. But it worked. I dunno if your sore throat was that sore, but I am prone to strept so I often use itÖfollowed by a barrage of complaints and whines (at least Iím able to talk!).

My class went well, thank you for asking. I think I went a little too fast but I made sure everyone was with me as I went. I was really nervous beforehand and the lab wasnít set up right so I had to find those arrogant tech guys to come set it up. They accused me of breaking the projector but my boss stepped in and told him to set it up and leave. I love it when the boys get tough hahaha.

YES I am close to 200ís. I canít wait. I know I will cry, even though I seen stuck at 301 right now. Itís my bodies way of teasing me. I canít wait! Thank you all for your support. I will get off my overgrown butt and back to the gym! I wish I had a pool so I could do water workouts.

Whole grain things (mmm muffins) 3 times a day!

Ĺ cup of blueberries every day! (I mix mine with fat free yogurt and Ĺ cut of whole grain cereal every morning)

1 cup of bell peppers (yuckóbut Iíve been doing it:p )

And 1 cup of grapes a day.

Ok not my favorite foods. But Iím giving it a try! One tipóremember that GRAPES CARRY SPIDERS AND OTHER BUGS IN THOSE LITTLE SLOTTY BAGS!! This scares the **** out of me. So get grapes in the store and immediately put them in the plastic fruit bags and TIE it before you put it in your cart. Then when you get home, fill the sink and submerge them in water for several minutes!! There were two cases of black widow spiders in grapes at my supermarket and I live in michigan/Ohio border. That is messed up!! Thatís like the stuff my nightmares are made of! Yikes! OK now that Iíve convinced everyone to no longer buy grapes everÖ.try to eat a cup of them a day. I take them off the vine and put them in tubs and put them in the freezer. Frozen grapes taste better, last longer, and are generally spider free :D!

Hey girlzzzzzzz.
Today, wow, what a day. We went to get the CT scan for Camdon, and got there about 7:30am and they did not register us untill 10am. Talk about slow. Well, I did not want to put Camdon under because he has a hard time with anystisia (sp?) so they said that they couldn't put him under anyhow because of his medical history, and if they did they needed a doctor present. So, they said lets try to get him to go to sleep. FAT CHANCE. Camdon is a typical 2 year old boy. Well after an hour of messing with him, trying to get him asleep, I said forget it, lets just wait for the doctor and do it then. Well, our next CT scan is JULY 20th!!!! Dang! Well, we left the hospital and not 2 minutes later, Camdon was asleep. Murphies Law!

I have been lurking every day..several times, but didn't post because I didn't want to come accross as bored or crazy. So, I will just tell you up front that I am bored and crazy, or just bored of being crazy.

We went to the Folk Life Fest this Sat. and walked around for a couple of hours. This festival has food from all over the world and crafts and dancing singing....just tons of fun. So I did my work out there. I also went to Walmart for a few hours and walked around until other peoples kids started getting on my nerves. I bought a few things.

We are going out to eat tonight to a place called Flemings. It is my mothers 60th birthday. In fact, got to go and get ready. I will be back on tonight and let you know about all the yummy stuff I ate.

Hello!

Well today was uneventful for me. Not much happening. I had the day off but I got woken up in quite an absurd way this morning. You know how I work 2nd shift and don't go to bed until 4-5am well that means at 9am I'm still snoozing away in la la land .....except today. I woke up to some dude outside my bedroom window painting (that's painting not panting--wouldn't that have been a hoot?)!!! The window was fully opened with a fan in it, but I could see him so I'm sure he could see me. I was soooo embarassed!!! See, I live in an apartment building and I guess they decided to paint my building today. Here I am laying in bed with a dude outside my window about 3 feet from my bed!! I was so freaked out that I quickly threw a blanket over me and waited until he left before I hopped outta bed! Let me tell you it was about 85 degrees today too, so here I was sweating to death underneath the blanket. What the heck was I doing one of those ostrich hiding techniques or what? :lol: As if hiding under a blanket he wouldn't notice the huge moving lump underneath it. Maybe there's a chance he didn't even try looking in the window, unlikely I know, but still a hopeful thought for me. :o


Tanya, don't worry about feeling bored and crazy. That's what this post is here for -- it's a support system (even for crazies like you) ;) Just kidding of course! Post as often as you want, tell us what you're thinking, we'll read it eventually and respond back.

I went to wally world (aka walmart) today too! I bought that new Veet hair remover foam with the thing that looks like a razor but it's not. I haven't tried it yet, but I'll let you guys know if it's any good. I hate shaving! I get stubbly by the next day, hopefully this stuff is better.

How was dinner tonight? What'd you get?


Dusty, oops! I forgot to send out your CDs again. Uuugg!! I actually drove right by the post office today too. I'll get it out one of these days.

Hope you feel better tomorrow. The fiasco with your dog was a riot! I'm sure it wasn't fun for you, but it was entertaining to read! At least he's all better now and he got a little butter treat out of it too. It's funny how animals can feel sad or depressed from their appearance too isn't it? I remember my friend shaved her dog because it got sprayed by a skunk and couldn't get the smell out of the fur. Well her dog walked around for the next few weeks all embarassed and shy. Poor thing.

What's up with the spiders in the grapes?!? I HATE spiders!! Are you trying to freak us out? I love grapes too. I usually rinse them off right before I eat them, you mean all these spiders could be crawling around in my fridge? Yuck!

And now for this tummy shrinking foods... Is it a structured diet plan or do you just incorporate these foods into your daily diet? As far as the bell peppers go, is that just green or do red and yellow peppers count too? They seem sweeter to me than the green.


Well, time to fill up my water container. I'm thirsty tonight. Drink up!!

Warning Food Talk!!!!
 
I was BAD last night. I could have been worse. I had calamari for appitizer, crab cakes, .5 of white potatoe, a bloody mary, salad, and for the hum dinger---an ozzing lava yummy cake with ice cream, and whip cream. If nobody was there I would have gotten naked and bathed my self in it...Yes girls, it was that good.

I wasn't that bad, but I was bad with the cake. I would have gotten a steak but I didn't want to mess with it in my system the next day....remember the gas.

No exercise for me yesterday, except walking around the hospital.

Camdon is asleep...nice and quiet. Peaceful. Lately he has been driving me crazy with all of his whining.

Just looking out the window, and we have the cutest baby squires. I haven't seen to many big ones this year. They must have had babies and died off.My father in law is so country, he likes to eat squire. I am a city girl, 100%, and it is really good...except for the little bones. Oh no, two babies are mating outside my window...or they are fighting, or playing. Wait, they have smiles on their faces, they must be mating. :dizzy: :nono: :love: :bravo: :flow1: :flame: :nose: :fr: :censored:

Enough with all the fun. Nightowl, you should have done a show for the guy. Remember I am a little off. When I was in the hospital, I would walk around with nothing on under my gown...every body knew what my butt looked like. Hey, I was sick.

Dusty: That was funny about your dog. Poor thing....not you, the dog. I am sorry you had to go through that, really frustrating, I am sure.

Tanya....wait. I know you can eat better for your tummy to go down, what about creams. I have this poochy that is over my belly butten, and I would love for it to go away. Do you all know of any topital stuff I could put on it to help it along? Arm are flabby too.

Hi girls!!!

Whew, lots to tell.... first of all let me get this out HOO-HAHHHH!! I'm on vacation until the 24th!!!! Yeeeeaaaahh!! :dancer: Ok, now I can focus, so where to start?

Well, I went and saw the new doctor today--she's great! She was so nice and understanding plus she had a little chunkiness to herself as well. :) She wants me to set 10% weight loss goals, so not to overwhelm myself. My favorite thing about her was she said that my ideal weight is 140lbs, however because I've been overweight my whole life she is changing my goal to 200lbs! Isn't that great? I've never met a doctor who recommended a goal weight of 200! Love that!!! She didn't mention gastric bypass either. In fact I ended up bringing up the subject at the end of the appointment. I told her the last doc had me attend the information seminar and seriously made me consider it. She said that she won't recommend that unless her and I have exhausted ALL other options--together! Isn't she great? I hope she doesn't move on soon like all my other doctors seem to do. Anyway, she set me up to meet with a nutritionist and she also did my bloodwork and an EKG. That was the first time I ever had an EKG done, but it wasn't too bad. She said it was normal except my heart rate was elevated --102. On a bad note my weight was 4lbs up from my home scale and my home scale is 3lbs up from my last weigh in----uuggh! So, what should I do, consider myself up 7lbs or just up the 3 from my scale? Either way I have to change my weight loss ticker at the bottom of the page. :( I knew I had gained some back because my eating has been off the past week or so AND I'm due for TOM in 4 days!

So, I'm on vacation for the next 10 days, yeah!! I actually have to go to a seminar for work on Monday for 6 hours, but it's not in my building so I don't have to worry about getting sucked in to doing any work by my boss!

I'm trying to think of something that will help motivate me to lose weight. So, I was thinking of starting a savings account and putting in some ca$h for every pound I lose and then doubling it for every pound I gain. I haven't decided on the denomination yet, but I want to make it worth while so I'm going on the high side. I figure I probably won't lose more than 2lbs a week (on average) so maybe $25/pound. That's $2300 if I get down to my 200lb goal, and that doesn't take into consideration any gains along the way. Hmm??? What do you think of the idea? I know it may seem expensive to some of you, but I'm single, have a good paying job, and no kids. I think I could afford it (for the time being at least) AND it's all going to me in the end anyway. Even if it takes 5 years to reach my goal, imagine the reward? I could buy a new wardrobe, a special vacation, or even use it towards surgery to remove excess skin (hopefully not needed though). I don't know, I'm just trying to think of ways to motivate myself. It's hard because I don't really have anyone close to me who I can do this with. Most of my friends are skinny. Ok, enough about me!!

Tanya, your dinner sounded YUMMY!! Glad you enjoyed yourself anyway, but it's time to get back on plan. For me too. And what the heck are squires? Maybe a type of bird?? I'm from New England so maybe they're not native to up here or then again maybe it's Southern slang for something very familiar. :?: Either way, I'm curious, especially because they were mating, he he he.

Nightowl: squirrels....am I spelling it right? I must have been typing too fast. sometimes I do that and don't check out the spelling. Sorry. I think you have them New Hampshire. Sorry about the gain. I have been pissed off too. I have been messing with this same pound back and fourth. But, I guess I deserve a weight gain with all the fun I have been having. I am still thinking about that cake. Yummy. Congrats on your time off. Gets some rest.

Doctors. sometimes I wonder if they really know what is going on. I am happy you found one that is good. They last time I went I had some blood work done and there were some concerning things about the blood work. I didn't get a call from the doc. to tell me what I need to do and what I need to change, nothing. I am so sick of them. I know it is because I have to deal with them more then the average bear.

I think my target weight needs to be about 220, because I have been fat my whole life and I just can't see myself being 150...way to skinny. I am have large bones and am tall....I would be a stick. I know the other girls on here are tall as well, I wonder what your take is on this.

I am so tired today. I went to bed early, but just been blotted and tired. Just not feeling right. I called my doc yesterday but never got a call back. I really need to switch doctors.

Weight Watchers is really starting to get on my nerves...not to be rude, but it looks like a retirement community every time I go. I switch my meetings, and the same thing. I went to this one meeting and this one lady would give me and my son bad looks all the time...what the **** is her problem. Sometimes you just don't know if they have race issues or they are just pissed off at the world. My mom said that she over heard her complaining about me and Camdon. My moms answer to every thing Just F-her. I love my mother. She doesn't take crap from anybody.

I wish they had a hip young (okay trying to be young) mothers group. I know I am nearing 40, but I hope I don't look it.

What kind of stuff are you all eating. Every week you all loss weight. I kind of eat the same stuff over and over.

Whole grain bread, eggs , coffee
Lean Cuisine, veggies
fish or chicken, wheat pasta or couscous, or brown rice.

It is starting to get boring...and I am still not losing...okay I know I went a bit crazy the other night, but not every day is like that.

Hello ladies!!

Well, today was my first day of vacation. Fun, fun!! But, I spent sooo much money today. I wanted to do a little pampering for myself because I've just been bummed out the past few weeks. So... I went and got my hair done and I went tanning!! I rarely go tanning by the way, but I got very pale this winter and I felt like I was glowing flourescent white walking around in shorts today! I just wanted some color to me so I don't look so sickly. I'll probably go a couple more times while I'm on vacation so I'll look nice and healthy when I return to work. I got my hair layered and added blonde highlights to it too. I absolutely LOVE it! I was actually admiring it in the mirror about an hour ago. I keep forgetting about it until I see my reflection, and then I stand there for 5 minutes and gaze in awe. :D I love the feeling a new hair style can give you. It can really perk up the day, y'know?

Oh yeah, I finally watched the movie Super Size Me tonight. I thought it was very interesting. It wasn't really much of a anti-fast food movie as I thought it was going to be. I think the main point of the movie was just to bring awareness to Americans that we are on our way to an obesity crisis. There were quite a few facts in the movie that I found interesting. They listed the fattest cities in the US, five of which were in Texas--Tanya, aren't you down there? Well, I'm off to my friend's baby shower tomorrow. I got tons of shopping in today too!!! Whoo hoo, extra exercise points for me!!! I went to Babies'R Us and I spent over an hour just looking around. Awww, some of those outfits were just adorable! It made me want a little munchkin of my ownnnn!!! However, I think I'll have to find a man first! Actually my mother has been hounding me lately. She says I'm not getting any younger and that she had all 3 of us kids by the time she was 30. And my sister had her 2 kids before she was 28.... blah blah blah. My mom is funny though, get this... she actually said that I don't need a husband (or a boyfriend for that matter) to have kids. She said that if I got knocked up she'll help raise the child and babysit while I'm at work. Isn't that funny? It just cracks me up that she thinks like that! Okay... sure, I think I'll just go get knocked up by some random dude so I can raise a kid on my own.... ahhh..... I don't think so, Ma!!! At least not now, I'm only 30, maybe if I'm 38 and still don't have any potential "daddy" candidates. ;)

Welcome Louie! I'm glad you want to join us. We've had quite a few new people stop in here and say they'd love to join in, but then they never come back! I'm starting to wonder if we're scaring them all away or something. :?: Anyway, I hope to learn more about you.

And my gal Tanya! Ohhhh, squirrels....yeah, we have them up here. Mostly gray ones in the city areas, but out in the sticks we get the red ones.

So, it looks like you and I have been holding down the thread here the past few days. Where is everybody? Actually Kaybee and Heather usually don't post until the weekends, but Dusty is MIA now too. And whatever happened to Michelle? She was posting with us for awhile and then dropped off. Oh well, at least we still have each other to keep company until the others return.

As far as your comment about your goal weight of 220. I think that's probably fine for your height. The last time I was 220 was when I was in high school! I remember I wore a horrendous hot pink poofy gown to the senior prom and it was a size 18. Oh, to see that size again!

You mentioned that you have a large bone structure, but I was thinking if you've been overweight your whole life how do you know for sure? I always thought that about myself too, in fact my mother always used to say I was "big boned" when I was growing up. Now that I'm older though I'm starting to question it. I think it was just an excuse for why I looked so much bigger than all the other kids. All the women in my family have small or normal sized bone structures, so why would I be different? Sure I wear larger shoes and jewelry and clothes, but I'm FAT! I don't think it's my bone structure. However, I do know that everyone holds their weight differently, so 220lbs could very well be a healthy look for you.

Oh yeah... are you going to the bellydancing class this weekend? You haven't mentioned it lately. If you go, do tell. I'm so curious about it, but still too chicken to go myself.

Thanks for the welcoming, Tanya and Nightowl. I know what you mean about people dropping off of posts. I was a regular on another group, but it seems to be dwindling away.

A little info about me.. I am 36, married, no kids, unless the furry kind count, then yes I have a dog. I live on the West Coast of Canada, work for the Government and currently I am studying to become an accountant (I actually write my big national exam next week). And no I am not a boring accountant LOL. About 6 years ago I had lost a significant amount of weight and was at a comfortable point in my life.. then I got married, began school, and didn't stick with eating right and exercising... and here I am needing to lose those same pesky lbs one last time !!!

Tanya ~ I think there is nothing wrong with setting yourself a target weight of 220 lbs. Once you get there you will know best whether or not you feel comfortable there or whether you think you can lose more. These charts that indicate how much someone should weigh based on their height, well I think they are crazy. I am 5'10" and girls I ain't ever going to weigh 165 lbs !! I use to go to WWs and yes there are definately some interesting folks that attend the meetings. WW is a great program, but I have to say that all that counting, weighing and measuring would drive me crazy some days :dizzy:


Nightowl ~ Love the new avatar :cookie: Your new hair do sounds great. I keep thinking I should get a change, but not sure what I would like or suit. I would love to be able to go into a salon and just sit down and say "do what you think would look best"..sort of like Nick does on "What not to Wear". Glad to hear that you are enjoying your holidays, and that you got in some walking and retail therapy at the mall :D

Well gals I guess I should get cracking. Off to enjoy my morning :coffee2: and break out the text books to do some final studying.

Ohhh the prodigal daughter returns!!

Well I have Gastroentinitis…or whatever. I have been so so sick, I couldn’t even stand to get on here and write. But today I am feeling better. Eating has been tought because I’m home with my little sister and brother who think oreos and corn dogs are a well balanced meal. I havent’ really been hungry, which helps, but I know that not eating is NOT the way to lose weight. I have to eat healthy all day long to show significant weight loss. But pretty much my tummy has to stop killing me before I can do much of anything!! All my workouts stopped too which sucks cause I was on a roll!

Oh well! On the lighter side of things, I haven’t gained any weight—seemingly. I appear to be hovering right around 300, which is ok, soon as I am feeling better, I’ll be losing again I am suuure!

LOUIE!! Welcome!! Glad you have decided to join us and good luck on your test coming up soon! You are right, not all accountants are boring!!

Tanya, Oh boy oh boy do I know what you mean with weight watchers. OLD PEOPLE. Like REALLY old and really *****y. I felt one, they looked at me like I was a shame of the human race because THEY were never fat at my age, I was 18 at the time. It really gets me, these old women and their haughty attitudes. They are ALWAYS miserable. Something is always wrong, life just seems to suck for them. I also felt like I was the only one there who didn’t play the banjo and pick my teeth with a match book. It’s not that I felt superior to them, it just seemed people came to the meeting and left their brains and their manners at home. And yes, people were RUDE to the women who brought children, got mad when the leader spoke to the kids! What is WRONG with people. I stopped going because those people just drove me bonkers with their attitude towards everything. Oh well! That was my experience. It seemed all the meetings were the same. I need a young hip weight loss group…er…like this one!

I set my weight goal at 150, though it is rather proactive. I can’t imagine weighing that little. I’ve always been fat, since I was five or six! I always had that little chin. I’ve also been really solid. I weighed a lot more than I looked. People would be surprised when they tried to pick me up then say oh OH and put my back down. I am solid or something. So I think your goal is a little more realistic—I may have to adopt it too.

Nightowl: Your new doctor sounds GREAT!! Where do I sign up. All I have is my family doctor who is this short balding man who has been my doctor since I was a baby. He says his R’s and L’s as W’s and doesn’t seem to care if I’m fat, coughing, feverish or in pain. All he ever does is write me prescriptions for flonaise (sp?) for EVERYTHING!! Irk!

Also, have a great vacation! Really enjoy yourself—take some youtime!!

Let me see, what do I eat:

Well I have yogurt, blueberries and whole grain cereal all mixed up every morning. An apple and an LA weight loss bar for a snack. I usually have a protein shake, some melba toast and an apple for lunch. Then an apple for a final snack and LA Weight loss bar. Then at home I like to have grilled chicken breast, a salad, a piece of low fat toast with bummel and brown and some veggies. I really like those microwave steamed lemon pepper veggies cause I don’t even have to dirty a dish to eat it. Pop it in the microwave and grab a fork (a disposable fork—if possible). Laaaaazzzy I know.

OK well girls I haven’t been to work since I came home sick on Tuesday and I have to go back Monday. It’s so HARD to get going again, but as soon as I’m back I know it will be all beeeettter. Still no progress on the poetry. I’ve written about three poems, but I can’t post them here in case they offend people. I just need about 7 more to make a good enough reading. I’ve never dreaded anything so much in my life. I start to wonder if it’s worth the money. Oh well, with all this stress going on, how can weight loss be achieved. I am sure it will be alright. …how much is liposuction? Well I’m off to go wrap myself in cling wrap, and then jog in a steam chamber.

So NightOwl, what are you saying, Im contributing to the fatness of Texas.:D Hey, you know everything is big in TEXAS. I was suprised that Houston beat San Antonio. There are a lot of fat people here. When I lived in Houston, I really didn't see that many. Maybe they were in hiding.

I would love to see your new hairdoooooo. I am sure it is nice. It has been a while since I got my hair done. But, my hair is naturally curly so there is not much I can do. Either it is long and curly or short and curly....but most of the time it is big and messy and curly. I don't look good as a blonde...I wish I did. My husband buys blonde wigs for me (ugly *** wigs too) and I look horible in them. I am olive in coloring with hazel eyes and I don't know why it doesn't look good...oh well. I look better with brown and red. I guess I am a winter.

I am so sorry you are sick Dusty. I am comfused, why are you writing poetry...for a reading or a job? Funny about the oreos and corn dogs...Corn Dogs, ahhhhhhahahhhhh, I loveeeee corn dogs. Just get me a corn dog and some chocolate and I am satisfied.

I noticed a lot of people have been leaving or arn't around. I guess I should stop talking about the wild life in my back yard mating.

About the :belly: belly dancing, I have to wait. We are going through a financial transition right now....so I have to wait. James thinks it would be better to do the class when Camdon starts school in Aug. I have to agree with him. That way I can go several times a week and be able to mingle with the other girls. We also just signed Camdon up for Music School. Yes, they have music school for 2 year olds. The teacher sings like Julie Andrews...I can just sit and listen to her all day...I know, a dork.

Camdon is saying new words now...the wiggles, but he ways the "wiggies" He is really communicating a lot better. He had a conversation with my sister on the phone today, he has never done that. He answered her questions and all. She said I love you Camdon and he said love you bye bye, and handed over the phone. I was inpressed with my little one. Sorry for all the bosting but all these little things mean so much to me, especially after all the crap the doctors tell us.

Luie good to have you here....good luck with the studying. I love going to school, just hate taking test. Just want to give you Kudos on going to school and being married. I know it is hard. I started grad school when I was just married, droped out because it was too hard...and stupid me decided to start again when I was pregnant...I took two summer classes and then in the fall dropped out because of the dificult pregnancy. I was just thinking about doing accounting today. I was watching the Producers, and was thinking about it. I am good with numbers. What do you do at your govt. job? Sorry would you have to hunt me down and kill me. By the way I don't live in san antonio texas and my name is not Tanya...

Hi ladies!

Well, today I had the baby shower. It actually turned out to be more fun than I expected, and I only knew the mother-to-be! Early on I got designated to be the photographer by the hostess (grandmother-in-law-to-be). That wasn't too fun, she was heckling me the whole time to take more pictures. I swear, I must've got 3 pictures of my friend reading the same stupid card!! C'mon, how ridiculous is that? Everyone else was catching on to how demanding the hostess was being of my picture-taking so when she wasn't around they'd joke around and make me take pictures of them sticking their tongues out and stuff. It was kinda funny because the lady won't have any idea until we're all long gone! Everyone else was really nice. The hostess was nice too, she was just stressing out probably because she wanted everything to be perfect. I just got the brunt of it for some reason.

Anyway, I think I ate pretty good there. I had a couple meatballs, a plate of salad, and a couple pieces of rolled up ham and cheese. No bread or dessert!! I don't think I had time to eat anyway with all that picture snapping!

Louie, so glad you wrote back to us already!! I hope you end up sticking around, the more the merrier. So, it sounds like you haven't really started a plan yet. Have you given any more thought to what you're going to do? Low cal, low fat, WW, etc? Is there anything we can do to help keep you on track?

I was thinking to help welcome you to the thread and to allow you to get involved here, I think you should pick next weeks exercise challenge!! Let's see, I picked the ab crunches a couple weeks ago... and then Tanya picked the "fun and unconventional" exercises last week. How about you? Do you want to pick next weeks challenge?

You're like our anchor on this thread, you keep it from drifting off into the great abyss. :lol: Well, I hope you and your family are doing OK today and maybe you're just busy. Come back soon!

Dusty, awwwww, sorry chica about your tummy problems. That sucks! What caused it, do you know? Is it food poisoning or stress or somthing? Anyway, get some rest and try to take it easy this weekend. Oh yeah, and I sent out those CDs yesterday. You should probably get them Monday or Tuesday. Hopefully you'll feel better by then and maybe they'll come in handy at the gym next week!

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening Chicas !! ~ I think we are all in different time zones so that should cover it :D

I have a busy day today, so I am up and at it early. I have to go meet my study partner in an hour for our last run through before the exam, then it is off to see my dad and have a BBQ. That should keep me out of trouble and busy for the day.

Nightowl ~ glad that you had fun at your baby shower... sounds like the photo taking was a bit of experience, but good for you for having some fun with it !! No, I haven't really started a plan yet. I have done WW in the past but get tired of all the tracking etc. If I was to follow that program again I would probably go the Core route. I have also been reading the book by Dr. Phil and he has a similar type program. I have a week to figure it out since I am not even going to attempt to start following a new program during exam week. I don't know if I would be the best person to pick the exercise for next week.. unless banging away at a calculator and writing for 4 hours straight counts (on 2 seperate days !!) :D

Tanya ~ Camdon sounds like a cutey. I love it when kids first start putting their words together. I have 4 neices/nephews who all live in different cities from me and love to talk to them on the phone, they get so excited and try to tell you everything that they have done for the last week in under a minute...LOL As far as my work goes, I am in middle management and work in budgeting. Thanks for the kudos, it has definately been a ton of work, but it will pay off in the end.

Dusty ~ Thanks for the welcoming and sorry that you are not feeling well. Good luck with your poetry. Are you doing a reading or is this for work ??? Sounds like you have set yourself a very proactive weight loss goal, and it will give you something to work towards. In the end you may need to adjust it, but that is the beauty of it.. it is all about how you feel not about getting to some number cause someone says that where you should be based on your height or whatever.

Well I better get to gettin'.. I have to be up at the college soon and I certainly can't go in my P.J.'s (although I would love to !!).

Hi everyone and Welcome Louie! I don't have much time to write because we are getting ready to go to my brother-in-law's house for a Father's Day cookout and to hang by the pool. I see I have a lot of reading to do to catch up.

I've been eating really bad and don't know why I'm having such a difficult time getting my act together. Too much crap happening at home and my husband may be losing his job at the end of June. I try to exercise to help me deal with the stress, but it seems lately, I'm turning to food for comfort instead.

I'll try to get caught up on all the goings on around here tomorrow.

Some of those kids shows get on my nerves...I actually don't hate Barnie. We got Cam a DVD of Barnie songs and they are really catchy. Now the one I hate is the "Wonder Pets" the stupiest show I have ever seen. So Barnie is watching Camdon right now as my hubby is in the room watching one of his grade B movies. He loves watching movies, and just doesn't care if they are good or not. I am here typing away at the computer having fun. No need to worry our house is super small so I can hear everything going on in other rooms.

We had a good fathers day so far. My dad went to the coast to be in their condo on the beach. We were going to go but it is just too costly hanging out with them. They want to eat crab all the time and go out to eat. We can do that a little bit, but not as much as they like. So we didn't want to mouch off of them...so we stayed behind. We are supposed to do a Fathers day dinner when my parents get back. We have family dinners all the time so it is no big deal to not be together on the day of fathers day. We just make up our own.

I am tracking my food with the WW little tracker then I am doing myfooddiary.com and I think it is just too much. I think I should do one or the other. I know there is fit day, which is similar to MFD.com. I think I am over tracking, if there is such a thing.

I am back on my green tea. I forgot to drink it every day the last past two weeks and I can really tell the difference. It seems to calm me and helps me to loss weight...Maybe it is all mental. Either way, I am drinking it.

NightOwl: I am a photographer and I hate taking pictures for parties and weddings and things like that. People can be so nasty some times. I totally can relate and sorry you were pushed around like that. Good for you geting the funny shots.

Louie: Good luck with the test taking. I hope you had some fun at the BBQ. Don't forget to rest. Sleep is neccisary for your brain to work properly. As you can tell I don't get much sleep, that is why my spelling is so bad. :dizzy:

Got to go...Camdon shut the door and I need to check on him. He has a compulsion about doors being open....
