Matzah is nothing like pita bread...it is a hard flat cracker...it's like a very large unsalted saltine. I have so many non-Jewish friends who love it...I don't get it. It hs no flavor on it's own for the most part, although they do make flavored ones. Growing up we'd eat it for days with butter and salt, cream cheese and jelly, etc. There are whole cookbooks dedicated to cooking with matzah...my friend used to make a wonderful matzah granola, there are matza dessert recipes, you can soak the matzah in water to soften it up and then use it like layers for a lasagna, a layer cake, and I'v even seen matza tacos. Many people love "Matza brei" which is matzah broken up into little pieces, soaked in water, dunked in an egg mixture and then fried...it's kinda like matza french toast I suppose. We'd always eat it with cinnamon and sugar or maybe applesauce. The bad thing about matza...is that even though it is not terribly high in calories...it has no fiber content...so it can make for a very uncomfortable 8 days. It gives a whole new meaning to "Let me people go!"
Kayley, Jilly, Vicki....thanks for adding me!! Karaoke was a blast last night...my friend Shane was there and he had been giving me grief about the basketball game...but I got my revenge and all is well. ZELMA....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! You photo is fabulous and your husband is a wonderful man who clearly understands the gift that he has in you!!! WI tonight....ugh...not expecting anything positive. PMS this week, bad food, blah blah blah...oh well..at least I was at -90 for a day! Wyellen..I'm with you on the road to 199...I'm not going to put a time limit on mine...I keep falling a little short of goals that I attach to a specific date. Happy Wednesday...of to finish brakfast (banana, mini fiber muffin, FF cottage cheese with raspberries) |

Well, the evil pizza  :jeno: and donuts have done their deadly work! I gained a pound this week! I'm not surprized really, I've also not been on the infernal eliptical except for 10 minutes on Monday. So...back to the drawing board. Wouldn't be so bad...except I know that tonight I'm going out because DS wants fettuccini alfredo for his b-day dinner - not mom's WW type either - the REAL stuff made with butter and cheese and little else - and while I won't be getting that, DH and I will split a pasta and salad. Then this Sat. is my wedding anniversary and we're going to a wonderful restaurant and then (hopefully) out to a casino. (I've been brushing up on my blackjack skills!) So I have two nights that I'll only have a bit of control over the menu. I'll be excellent the rest of the time though...so all will be well...I'm positive! Really. I mean it! :p BTW Catherine and Ammi have been scarce! Where are you???? |
Zelma, you are beautiful! You have a lovely, lovely figure. Looking at you now it would be hard to imagine where you started. Way to go!!!!
:bravo: |
Stupid Scale! 45 minutes later and now it's 241.6...I'm changing the slider back down to that!

Not really feeling individuals today. I'm having an emotionally crappy day, and I don't see it getting better until at least Monday. I feel so worthless, and I'm so tired of being alone all day. I couldn't even fathom going to class tonight, so I didn't. I wouldn't have been able to concentrate anyhow. Sorry I'm such a downer.

Kayley - I haven't posted lately because I am on one big downer. Not from being lonely, but just from not dieting, and being unwell etc. I hope things pick up for you, and good on you for still posting even when you are down.
Hugs, Ammi |
Ammi - Glad to see you here. Sorry you are feeling like a downer. Seems lots of us are feeling that way. We need on great big :grouphug:.
|
Ammi - What did the doctor find out for you?
|
Ammi -- I suck for not figuring out my email problem, but know I am thinking about you every day.
Xena -- I do really like the reports and graphs, except that you can only do 10 weeks at a time. I pay the extra money to be able to download all my data (plus gold member). I am a numbers geek! As for meals, the great part is the flexibility it adds. I make a lot of salads, and of course everyone has a different set of ingredients in different amounts. So I make one and call it something like Big Salad 20060403... .put in all my foods, and log it. Let's say 2 days later I have another salad. Now I go and duplicate the first one, give it a new name, with that day's date. Then I modify the salad with the quantities of all my ingredients. There are some ingredients that might not be present in the new salad, so I just make the quantity 0. The next time, that ingredient might be in the salad, and I can just include the quantity! The plus membership gives you unlimited meals. If you do find yourself really liking nutridiary, you can consider paying the membership. I waited until I was sure of it, and use it every single day. The plus membership also gives you access to a much larger food database (esp restaurant foods), which makes it easier to enter in foods. I thought there was a way to create custom foods in fitday that had multiple ingredients like nutridiary, but am not sure of that... Anyway, I really like nutridiary. It's not perfect, but it has really made calorie counting work for me. Zelma -- happy birthday! I LOVE your new picture! You are inspiring me to take some pics, even though I'm not at goal. There's a dress I want to get a picture in... And that card from your husband is just LOVELY! :) Jilly and Lilion and Julee: thanks for your good wishes on the road to 199 (honestly, I can't even picture me there, and it's only just over 20 pounds away!) |
HAPPY 44th ZELMA!!! You're looking HOT!
|
Ammi - Thanks for checking in. You know we all wonder where you are when you aren't around.
Kayley - What's going on that got you so depressed this afternoon? Your post from this morning sounded so positive. Wyllen/Xena - It is my understanding that to get the recipe functionality on fitday you need the PC version. Does the paid version of nutridiary allow you to track other things such as vitamins and nutrients? That was the one thing I couldn't figure out how to do so I found another tracker that I don't think I am supposed to mention on this site (as it has a message board in it, but I like it here much better!) |
Wyllenn - In that grand scheme of things, 20 pounds isn't all THAT much to go! :) Soon enough, you're going to hit the 1's!! :D I just realized that I'm at where you started....and boy do I have a long way to go.
|
Nancy - I've been depressed since last night...I'm just usually very good at hiding my emotions.
|
Kayley - Whatever it is, I hope you feel better soon. Sometimes I feel like there is only one thing to do when life gets like that - sleep!

Regarding Fitday Vs Nutridiary:
I have the paid version of Fitday and absolutely love it. I think it was money well spent. I use pretty much every feature there is, and there are a lot. I also have a free account so that I can record my food while I'm at home or at work. I'm fairly new to Nutridiary. I don't like the fact that the food database is so limited for free users. Everything else so far, I'm loving. I can keep track of my amount of water, fruits & veggies, etc with one easy click. I didn't like that you can't set your initial weight, because there's no option to go back in time to do it (for free users, not sure about paid). I'm still exploring, but both have their definite pluses. Just thought I'd throw my two cents in. |
