300+ And Ready To Try Again...#834

WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

Hello all, Today has been a good day,, I had a rather slow start with *Aunt Margaret* taking her monthly toll...... I just feel so bloated and Puffy, I hate it, I wish Adam had ate the Apple instead of Eve...(wouldnt that be something) I went to the grocery store to get the stuff to make some Stuffed Green Peppers and I found and bought SB frozen dinners for Phase I , and oohhhhhhhh Are they GOOOOOD!, I AM LIKEN THIS LIFE STYLE..

going to lose 200 02-14-2006 08:11 PM

hey crock
I wish we had more variety of foods here. I live on a small province in Canada and we have NO selection when it comes to diet foods. The closest that we can get are Michealina's advantage dinners and they are OK but.... that is IT! I bet the SB dinners are great. We don't even have a health food store in our city anymore. We have to drive 45 minutes for protein powder *L*

Lilion 02-14-2006 08:28 PM

Wow! I don't think I've ever seen the boards so slow! Just wanted to say, I had the BEST dinner tonight. I'm posting the recipes on the recipe thread. YUMMY!

MsCrockett 02-14-2006 08:32 PM

Brenda~ I have to drive 45 minutes to do any shopping, Sorry they dont offer the meals.. go here, and check this Kraft site about the South Beach dinners, and there are more recipes... and , THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE RECIPES ...... I really appreciate it.

kayleystar 02-14-2006 08:44 PM

Crock - Are you sure that the dinners are for Phase 1? From what I knew, all of those were for Phase 2...they have pasta in them.

I'm at the school....late. Found a good find at Big Lots tonight...Cute boyshorts for $1.99...they are Just My Size brand. Also got one of their thongs...lol. Never had one before...and a pair of Delta Burke cute lacey hip panties. Way cute. Lavender. I'm planning a big surprise for Andrew, when he gets back to his house. It involves directions, and I'll be the surprise at the end! :D I'm going to park my car down the road, so he doesn't even know I'm there...going to leave him little notes and candies...:) Should be cute.

MsCrockett 02-14-2006 08:47 PM

Hello Ladies. Happy Valentine's Day!!! to everyone. Well holidays mean parties at my school, and that means that all the children bring well-meaning presents of candy to the teachers. OMG I got so much chocolate. I passed out a lot of it down the hallway to parents passing by wishing them a Happy Valentine's Day, and I gave some to my dad and brother. I kept the individual kisses to have a tiny bit of chocolate every once in a while. I also kept the lifesaver creames individually wrapped ones, but I have to find the nutrition info on them before I eat them. I actually did well considering it was a party day. I had two mini turtles (one of my children bought me a HUGE box of them and I LOVE them...chocolate and caramel are MEANT to be together) and I had two mini chocolate covered pretzels. No cookies, no cupcakes, no sandwhiches, no chips, no dip, no pizza. I didn't get my workout in though, I ate really late and when I tried to workout just a bit ago I got real sick...so, note to self EAT EARLIER. I'm going to try to get to bed right now and get up early and make it up in the morning.

Anyway I hope everyone had a wonderful day!!!!
-----
Lilion--I will certainly see if I can find the recipe for the bourbon chicken, General Tso's is my favorite chinese food!!!! Too bad there's no bourbon in it though LOL ... Thank you for the suggestion.
christin--Yes it is great to see the emasurements going down...but I hadn't noticed it, my clothes don't fit any different...*shrugs*. And thanks for the suggestions, I am going to have to find some more recipes for chicken lol...I go through phases where I eat the exact same thing for days...right now it's wonderful chicken salad. I've had it for lunch and dinner the past two days. But it's good and pretty easy to make.

kayley--ooooh I sooooo need to cut down my diet coke intake...I actually did cut out my afternoon one at work for thursday, friday and monday...but this being a party day at school my nerves were frayed by the afternoon so I had it today...It is giving me headaches though not to have it. And, I am sure Andrew will love his surprise.

ZedAus--Thank you for adding the link to your weight loss document, I haven't had a chance to go read it yet, hopefully tomorrow I will. I've never watched the Biggest Loser, I've seen people here talk about it, but I watch so little TV...CSI, reruns of Sex & the City and Wildfire are about my weekly TV times, and I haven't gotten to see two of those three for over a month *LOL* so... And yikes my kids are always HORRIBLE during the full moon!!! Both the ones I'm raising and the ones I teach. It's a once a month reminder that I'm very glad I don't have any of my own...(I am kidding of course.)

woohoo, I successfully managed to have NO candy on Valentine's Day! I made Jeff whatever dinner he wanted for the occasion--he chose Lipton's instant teriyaki noodles (which I used to make as a side dish all the time but stopped due to high sodium content--I now make my own sides with whole-wheat noodles, veggies, and teriyaki marinade), so I made those and bought some frozen egg rolls to have with them (all veggie-filled for me, pork and veggie for him ;) ). I also gave hime some candy, 2 pairs of V-Day boxers, and a video game. All I got as a grocery-store-variety mixed bouquet of flowers on Friday afternoon, but it makes up for last year when he got me something really good, and I didn't get him much. Maybe next year, we'll actually get it right :p

Anyway, I've still been doing really well with the calorie cycling. I finally feel like I may actually be able to stick to this. This past Friday, I had over 3000 calories, but it still ended up fitting into my plan. Now THAT'S a plan I can live with forever! We'll see if the scales agree when I weigh in tomorrow (morning for my own personal official weigh-in, and evening at TOPS).

Kayley--I had to laugh about the thong, but I also had to nod in agreement. I bought my little teddy or whatever you want to call it, and it came with a thong. I put it on yesterday before Jeff got home--and took it off before he got home, too! The actual thong part didn't bother me, but the super-narrow triangle of fabric in the front did not cover my apron of fat, so it just wasn't happening. I also changed out of the teddy before he got home, but he eventually convinced me to put it back on after dinner. I won't go into any details beyond that ;)

I agree that the boards have been much slower lately--but at least it gives me a chance to actually read ALL of the posts!

MsCrockett 02-15-2006 09:34 AM

I made it through Yesterday with no sweets, yippyyyyy, I can avoid sweets pretty well,, it is POTATOE CHIPS AND SODA!that I love, Just stopping those two, that is a diet within itself.for me.

Hope everybody is having a good day, Take care,

dolfingirl2000 02-15-2006 09:48 AM

Hi Guys

Just a quick hello before I head off to the gym. :) You all make me feel like I SHOULD go and not chunk out:o :p so thank you!

Zelma--I just read your file! You are truly a wonderful person for writing that all down for us. Thank you. I do want to tell you that your friend is right about the water--once your body gets used to drinking it all, you "have to go" much less frequently. I couldn't believe it either, but it's true. :) One of the reasons that I feel so strong right now is because I started my weight loss journey at 357 lbs. and knowing that you started at a weight so close to mine. Actually seeing your pics and KNOWING that it can be done is a real boost to me. Thank you so much for coming here.

I've been really down lately because I've been at this plateau for over a month. I keep going up and down with the same 7 lbs. and it's so frustrating. :( I'm not going to give up, but it really doesn't make me want to go out to the gym and work at it since I haven't been seeing any real changes. And because I haven't been seeing any REAL changes, I've been kind of lax in what I'm eating. :?: Don't get me wrong--I'm not stuffing myself with bags of potato chips or fries or anything like that, but I am having more carbs than I should be. I made some chicken breasts yesterday and I have some salad mix in the fridge so I'm hoping that I'm now getting back on track. Wish me luck.

I have to go and call my work out buddy. There's a problem with the alignment in my car and my bf doesn't want me driving it. He says it's dangerous and that it's probably ruining the tires. I didn't tell him, but I think I remember driving over a curb:o and I'm pretty sure that's what caused it. Don't laugh--I'm sure we've all done that once or twice, right? ;)

Okay--I'll try to come back for replies later. Thanks for listening everyone. :grouphug: Keep up the good work and thanks for the inspiration to keep going.

Vicki

Lilion 02-15-2006 10:09 AM

Mornin' Chickies!

Well, I'm on a plateau! :( WI showed 248.2. This should make me happy, since last Wed was 250.6, but Thursday showed 247.6 after I drank plenty of water and dropped the water weight. Which means I actually gained .6 lbs. This does NOT make me happy.

I've been doing everything right, except for exercise, but I've at least added little things like walking from the parking lots (instead of parking illegally in the visitor's lot) and taking the stairs instead of the elevator. So darn it...NOW what do I do?

Honiangel: I LOVE the internet for recipes! One of my favorite sites is allrecipes.com. They aren't necessarily "diet" recipes, but they do give nutrition information. This site is great too! There are plenty of WW and South Beach and other recipe threads. Doing WW I've just done random Yahoo searches for "weight watcher" "recipes" and gotten some great ones. I love halfmysize.com - Really good recipes and the official WW site has a community that has a recipe review thread, you get great recipes there. Again, depends on what program you are on, but lowfat is lowfat, especally when looking for a meat or poultry recipe.

Kayley: How was the surprize? No details necessary! ;)

Jilly and Crockett - I also managed to have NO candy on V.day! DH was warned! He got me flavored coffee instead.

Anyway, today is snack day at work and I brought 1 pt fat-free bean dip and bite sized tortilla chips. (12 chips = 1 pt.) I haven't participated in a snack day forever, but I thought it was time to show these people that you don't have to load things with sausage or sugar or fat to have a good snack! I just hope folks like it...otherwise I'll end up taking it home! I really should have brought the rest of my chocolate oreo cake from home...but it was SOOO good! I'll have to seriously watch my points the rest of the week to fit in a few more slices!

Well, time for me to run. My friend is bringing her puppy to the office for me to see in a few minutes. Have a healthy, happy, OP day everyone!

MsCrockett 02-15-2006 10:18 AM

Lilion~ Hang in there with the weight loss.. Are you losing inches? The main thing is that your still hanging in there, wooo hoo........ that is a good idea for the snack thing at work,, I hope they gobble it up!

voodoo1 02-15-2006 10:44 AM

:sunny: Well its a beautiful Spring day in the UK, at least where I am, TOM is almost over, thank goodness! So its a good day, I cleaned all the upstairs windows inside, hoovered and dusted upstairs and now I'm having a rest!! I will be able to exercise tomorrow, and I will do some on Saturday too as Steve's doing o/t. He finally got my avatar changed to a recent photo, though he was standing up so I don't have too many chins;) I am not up to doing that sort of stuff I just get mad and throw stuff around when it doesn't work!
I have to get all the stuff ready for our 'holiday' at my parent's house as well but boy, am I ready for a break from the routine,;) and of course a few nights out with hubby, sans kids. We always find places to go, like old churches, pretty villages, coastal walks and of course a few pubs!!! we do eat there as well though! Steve is only allowed one beer as he drives and I only have one as I need my wits about me to watch the boys.  I just hope the weather stays like this for the week, what's the weather like where you all are?
I was not very good yesterday, but today I'm feeling well and staying OP, TOM always makes me feel the need for starchy or sweet stuff, I hate it.:(
I hope you are all well and the sun is shining on you,:goodvibes
xxsharon:hug:

MsCrockett 02-15-2006 10:52 AM

Good pic, Sharon, Where is your parents located, will you be traveling far?

JuleeCeeS 02-15-2006 11:17 AM

Well, another Valentine's Day come and gone. Fortunately for me, it's a non-issue at work. I work in a synagogue (Jewish) and it's very much downplayed..especially to the kids in the school there. Plus I left work early yesterday to run errands. It was also my friend's birthday and I had to go get her cale and present for her prty last night. Jason got me flowers and the first season of The Muppet Show on DVD...yay! When I was at the grocery store getting my friend's cookie cake decorated, I saw that they had mini-cakes that were no-sugar added. It tasted pretty good...we sat around my apartment when he came over after work and fed each other cake. Maybe it was practice for November (LOL). In any case...the cake was tiny...I am sure it was still meant to be 2-4 servings. We ate about 2/3 of it and dumped the rest. It was a good cake (not great) and in the end it made us both very gassy (ugh).

We went out for a lovely dinner and then went to my friend's party. My total candy intake for the day was 1 square of very very dark chocolate (72% cacao). I had some of the frosting on Wendy's cake but that was it...and loads of water. I kept eyeing sweets all day (it's really roten to start TOM on Valentine's Day) but I was good. I know I had too much cake but my food and water were excellent...so no biggie. I lost no sleep over it.

I did get a lot of compliments on my outfit last night and I am very sad that we had no camera at the party (how did we do that???).

Hope you all had a good day and that you enjoy the rest of the week!!!

thinthinker 02-15-2006 11:19 AM

Puffy: I didn't move your link, Hon, all I can think is that maybe you thought it was there and it wasn't or it was coded wrong. Sorry.

MsCrockett 02-15-2006 11:32 AM

Julee~ way to go on all the TEMPTATIONS of yesterday,, You sound like you have just lost the taste for the goodies,, This morning I had to use the microwave to heat up some apples sauce for my Dad (he is not feeling well, and I am daddysitting while Mom is with Granny) and when I opened the Microwave there it was,, HOMEMADE CINNAMON ROLLS!, (my 15 yr old brothers breakfast) I removed them from the Microwave with a snalrey face , as i smelled them and was not even remotely intirgued,,(that is great for me as I used to eat 3 or 4 just for breakfast) Sooooo I am happy that I reacted in this manner,, So here I set eating a donut,,( Cauliflower is my new donut ,,lol)

voodoo1 02-15-2006 11:55 AM

Crockett, my parents live in Mablethorpe, on the Lincolnshire coast, we live just over two hour's drive from them, between Nottingham & Derby. Being in the US you will have heard of Nottingham coz of Robin Hood, but Mablethorpe is not famous for anything!!
I am chatting with Ammi on msn, so goota go.

heather_dw 02-15-2006 12:00 PM

Kayley: How did the surprise go? ;)

As for me, the cardiologist's office called last night to tell me that my iron numbers did not change from last month's numbers. They upped my iron pills to 2 per day and if it does not get better, they want to send me to a gastroentologist (like I can spell or afford that!..LOL )
I did the test they wanted and it did not pick up any blood but they still are harping on this gastroentologist thing.

As for candy, my little sister brought home tons from school. I swear that you could not have a diabetic child inour school district.. parties, ice cream and candy all the time it seems. I managed to have just one mini reese cup, a small chocolate heart with crispies in it, and 3 M&M's. Enough to enjoy the chocolate but not enough to make me feel guilty ;-)

I'm having one of my "crazy thought" days and being down about it. Hubby says "you're crazy!" It's just that I always thought losing 100 pounds would make such a dramatic change.. and I dont feel that it really has. People can't even tell yet (except mom and hubby) It really does not feel like I have lost that much. It's all still here darnit! I keep thinking "the docs must have misweighed me somehow"

MsCrockett 02-15-2006 12:02 PM

How is ammi?

Lilion 02-15-2006 12:06 PM

I love typos! For a minute there I thought you were giving her KALE - you know, the seaweed type veggie stuff! I thought "Wow! That's dieting!" Sounds like you had a terrific Valentine's! Good temptation management. I'm hopeless in party situations.

So far I've managed to eat a bit of my bean dip I brought for snack day (2 pts) AND 2 no bake cookies, a tiny slice of banana nut bread, a tiny slice of lemon cake, a tiny piece of some kind of fudgy, frosting coated brownie stuff (about a bizzillion pts). :barf: Think I'm done with snack day. No way to really count this stuff, so I'm gonna just start over at lunch time and not worry about it. If I can't have a tiny bit of sweets now and then I'll never stick to this anyway. I'll have a small lunch and dinner and call it good for the day.

Sharon: Great photo! No double chin at all! Think I'll stick with my fairy...no need to scare folks with my photo!

AmmiUK 02-15-2006 12:32 PM

Hi All,

Did you miss me, did ya, huh, did ya  It's great to be back. I haven't been online for ages. First of all it was because Daren was making wall units for our bedroom so I was busy helping him, and as everything had to be taken out of our room we weren't hooked up to the Internet. Then when we finally did get back into our room, we discovered a problem with the Internet. We thought Daren had accidentally cut the cable, or squashed it, so we paid out for new stuff only to find that it was the cable modem at fault. We got an engineer to come out yesterday, he gave us a new modem, and now we are back online WOOHOO :cheer: I really missed you all :grouphug:

I had a beautiful Valentines day and am so proud of myself because I told my hubby not to buy me any chocolates. He didn't, so I wasn't even tempted to be naughty food ways! He did buy me beautiful gifts though, a pair of garnet heart shaped earrings, A cuddly owl in a love heart, and the new film of Bewitched on DVD. He certainly knows how to pick the perfect presents. I bought him a CD and some helium balloons. To everybody else who managed to stay good on Valentines, good for you, and for those that did give in to a treat or two, it's ok, you enjoyed it, now you have to just get back on track again :D

Because I was so busy with Daren on the weekend I didn't get chance to watch the Olympics. Please can somebody tell me if the women figure skaters have been on yet. I have seen the couples, and the short programme for the men, they are having their free tonight, but I haven't seen the women. Did I miss them?? I love watching the winter olympics!!

Christine - I didn't find the mattress pads like you have, but I have found a really good waterproof protector that is cotton on the top but is sprayed with some special stuff on the underside that is breathable, but doesn't let liquid through to the mattress. I have had much better night's sleeps now that I don't have to worry about if I do have any accidents. Oh and the bed is heavenly. It's a firmer mattress than we are used to so for the first few mornings we both woke up with aches and pains, but I think we have both adjusted to the firmness now because we wake up well rested and with no more pain. Yay.

Jill - shame on you for chickening out of keeping that teddy on til Jeff got home, but I am glad he persuaded you to put it back on later in the evening ;)

Catherine - I have been awol from here too, so it was good to see your post. It must be so rewarding when you have an experience like telling your new doctor how much weight you have lost and seeing him lost for words. You should be so proud of yourself. Are you still loving married life, it sounds like you enjoy using the words, your 'husband' in your posts :D I have been married 4 years this year and I will never lose the thrill of introducing Daren as my husband :D

Crock - been missing our chats on Yahoo. Will defo look out for you later. Congrats on the weight loss. We have both lost 11 lbs!!

Nancy - It's lovely when we find men who love us for who we are, and that our weight is an attraction and not a turn off. I know your hubby prefers you overweight, but perhaps when he sits and thinks about it he would realise that smaller and healthy is much better than fatter and unhealthy and a shorter life span. My hubby loves me as I am, but he is behind my diet 100% because he wants me to be happy and healthy. I hope you can find some sort of compromise with your husband, you obviously love each other a lot, so fingers crossed you can work it out.

Sharon (voodoo) - I love your new photo on here. Thanks for letting people know I wasn't sick or anything when I was away. I am writing this while chatting to you, so I shall finish up here and carry on with our chat :D

A big hello to anybody new here, and of course to everybody I haven't replied to individually. I am sorry I couldn't answer all the posts, there are just too many. I am back now though and hope to keep up to date with everybody.

Hugs,

Ammi :grouphug:

kayleystar 02-15-2006 01:15 PM

Well, the surprise went well last night! What I did was make up these little notes, sort of like a scavenger hunt, but not really...with directions on them of what to do...had candy kisses and minis of kitkats and such taped on them, too. His first one was to go in the house, into the bathroom, and take his shoes off. Then, he was directed on the next note to go to the microwave...where there was Taco Bell waiting for him. Had him eat that, and then go upstairs so he could unwrap his present. I was just laying there in the dark, and when he saw me he was so SURPRISED!!! But he loved it, and it was a really nice night. We are going to celebrate for "real" on Saturday. Going to go and finally see "Tristan & Isolde", and go out for dinner...on him! :D

Ammi, it's good to see you back!!!

I'm just in the lab...my Health class ended really early, as we just had to take a test and leave. Was only in there half an hour. Next week, we have to do the flexibility test...HA!

NotTheCheat 02-15-2006 01:31 PM

I just finished lunch and need to get back to work, but thought I would drop a quick note.

My BF and I decided to postpone our Valentine's dinner out because last night I didn't get home until about 8 and was sweaty from working out. He wanted to take me to the Cheesecake Factory and I suggested he call first to see what the wait time was - 1.5 to 2 hours!! We said forget it, let's go tomorrow instead. I made dinner and we watched Amercian Idol and had another chat about things.

One thing that really helped was that I ended up pulling out some old photos of myself at different sizes and we both looked at them. I started remembering what it felt like to be certain weights at different times. The other thing that is so strange is that I know my body image is still so distorted. I know I was 100 pounds thinner in some of those pictures, but I don't feel much different mentally. Also, I look at the pictures of myself as a teenager, and I don't look that heavy. Yet at the time, I remember thinking that I was absolutely HUGE. It is so amazing to consider our perceptions of ourselves.

Welcome back Ammi! Glad you got everything sorted out. I would be so hard to get by without Internet access - even for just a few days.
