Default 300+ And Ready To Try Again.. #824

WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!

There are so many people/comments I'd like to respond to, but with all the action lately, it's going to be nearly impossible. I'll touch on the ones I remember though!

Ammi, how're you tonight?

Catherine, I'm so glad things seem to be going so well for you. How's married life feel now that you're getting a chance to get used to it? How's the exercise going? And how are you adjusting to the climate change?

Julee, how'd the florist appointment turn out? I'm very thankful that I didn't have to deal with any of that - there are a few perks to running away and getting married I do, however, regret not having a wedding dress and having professional pictures taken. These will come at a later date, when we renew our vows!

voodoo, woohooo at your husband noticing! Now maybe he'll start letting you know that he's noticed! Either way, it's a wonderful feeling, isn't it?

Luan, bummer about your car being towed! Sorry to hear that.

Jilly, congrats on staying OP! Sounds like you're doing fantastic!

Zelma, don't you love it when kids who are (mostly) innocent speak their minds, and it happens to be exactly what you needed to hear? It's great that the kids are noticing, but then with all your progress, it'd be hard to not notice

dolphin & sharon, congrats on the NSVs!

To everyone who's lost, congrats as well!

Welcome to the new chicks, and as always it's great to see everyone else here posting too!

Shadie & dogpal, where are you guys? You're missed!

To everyone else, have a great night and/or weekend!

We're Back

I'm so happy we're back up & running- its amazing how much you rely on this place...and how much you can miss, even though it was only down for a little over 24 hours.

I had fun on Saturday- I went to a Women's Expo with a friend. It was neat to see some of the different products and to sample all the different foods too. I found some new products I probably wouldn't have tried otherwise that I'll be looking for at the grocery store. Plus Healthy Choice gave us a really nice cookbook with some great recipes- I've already picked out a couple I want to try. We got a lot of coupons for the various grocery products & Kellog gave out stuffed Tony the Tigers. I already gave mine to my dog- she hates all the doggy stuffed animals that have squeakies in them so it was perfect. We also got a lot of different gadgets & things from the various health organizations like mini-first aid kit, breast exam kit, credit card sized magnifier, and stuff like that. One of the best handout was a credit card sized health information thingie- it opens out to be a couple feet long with lots of room for information on your current health & health history, then it magnetically holds itself closed. Its on my list of things to do this week- I know with all my health problems & allergies that I should have done it a long time ago, but I just never got around to it.

I had to shovel snow when I got home tonight- I'm think I'm going to count that as my exercise for the day...I figure between that & all the walking at the Expo that I did pretty good, even with sampling all the different foods.

Hello All,

I am sad today. I go on another message board, this one for people with ostomies, and two of the most beautiful natured women there are both not expected to make it through the weekend. I have known them for 4 years and it's bad enough one is going to pass away, but for them both too, it just seems so wrong. They both have cancer

I really want to just go and stuff my face right now. But I have to learn that comfort eating isn't the answer. So I am here, and trying to fight the urge. I weigh in tomorrow, so I really need not to overeat today.

Take care all, and it's good to have the site back up and running again.

Hugs,

Ammi

Christine, sounds like you had a blast! Snow shoveling is evil and therefore it most definitely counts as exercise. Let me know if you like the Healthy Choice recipes! I have a Healthy Choice recipe book around here somewhere..

Ammi, so sorry to hear about your friends. If you need someone to talk to, please let me know. It's always hard losing someone, and especially hard when it comes as a double whammy. My thoughts are with you and with their families.

Crock, sorry but I've not done much with South Beach. I know there are a couple people who have, so hopefully someone will get in touch with you!

Oh – it is so good to be back. I really missed this site yesterday.

Vicki – It was hard when RDA left, but I think they have done a pretty good job at keeping the show going without him. I also really miss General Hammond and Jacob - I was pretty upset when they killed off Jacob. Of course it is sci-fi so there is always a possibility of seeing them again – like last week with Martouf and Dr. Fraiser.

I recently rewatched the entire series of the original BSG and it is so hard to compare the new to the old. I loved the campiness and the camaraderie of the old one, but some of the acting was pretty bad. I love the new BSG, and I liked the fact they made Starbuck a girl. I thought this week’s episode featuring her was really powerful.

Lillion – I had watched Star Trek growing up but recently rented them all from Netflix and saw every episode in order. I love the dynamic between Kirk, McCoy and Spock. I am also a TNG fan. Patrick Stewart is such a great actor (and so handsome).

The SCA and dressing up – SO cool. I have always wanted to something like that – or work at a Ren fest or something. It has been one of those things that I was either too shy about or didn’t feel I had the time. How did you get into it?

One of my fitness goals is to be able to start doing some type of martial arts (I am thinking Kali, like what Teyla does on Atlantis) or some sort of sword fighting. I am also a Xena fan and part of me would love to be able to do that stuff – I think I would get a kick out of sparring.

Crocket – I am not doing South Beach but I have talked to people who really like it. It seems to be a very sensible plan. My problem is that I can’t deny myself anything or I instantly start wanting it. I have found calorie counting really works for me because that way I can eating anything, as long as I account for it. Mostly I don’t, but I can if I want.

Christine – snow shoveling is definitely exercise! That expo sounds really cool. I LOVE samples. Doing more stuff like that is definitely one of the things I am looking forward to. I get so tired from walking around and all the stress on my feet that after just a little while it isn’t so fun anymore. It already seems to be getting better.

Ammi – That is very sad about your friends. Big and good for you for not turning to food for comfort.

I went a bit over on calories yesterday – weekends seem to be the hardest for me. We went to one of my favorite restaurants and it is one of the few places I can’t pass up dessert because it is truly worth the calories. The important thing is that it is becoming a very once and awhile thing, rather than an everyday thing.

I have also found another “reward” to help motivate my fitness goals. I am a huge fan of Patrick O’Brian and the Aubrey/Maturin novels (Master and Commander is the first). If you can get through a good bit of nautical vocabulary, I would highly recommend the books. The two main characters are two of the best fictional characters ever created (in my opinion). I found this vacation company that does tall ship sailing adventures where you can actually work as part of the crew. I would love to do something like that and experience a bit of seafaring life. I think I am going to put together a little book with all of the things I want to do, so that when times get tough (which they inevitably will) I will have something to pick up and motivate me to keep going.

I wasn't sure I was going to make my valentines goal of being under 300 lbs but I truly feel that I will meet it. I uploaded my weight trackers under the weigh in section. Crock - I started on SB, but I'm afraid I'm not by any means a SB expert. It gave me a great start and I think it's one of the most balanced diet plans that I've seen. I just decided that I could do anything for 14 days and did Phase I. The greatest thing about it was that after those first 2 weeks my cravings really did go away, without a pill! It taught me how to take control, and how good that control feels. I hope it works great for you!!!

Everybody, all the NSV's are SO great to read! I'm just catchinig up on some posted before our new super-server installation. I just love hearing about those successes that make your day!!

Ammi, I'm so sorry you're friends are in such shape. I'll them & their families in my thoughts & prayers.

Well, Yesterday was definately not my best day. My only options were fast food or zip, and I had a 14yo Taco Bell addict with me, so I tried to eat the middle of a chicken burrito supreme & leave as much wrap as possible, then coming home late I picked up a pizza to save dh from starvation. I had mostly just toppings from the veggie only side, but still... Then he decided he wanted to go to the 10 pm showing of Narnia.... popcorn. yup. But, since life goes on, these little endulgences are too bad. The old me would have eaten the whole burrito WITH a Mexican pizza, half the regular pizza, and had m&m's to go with my popcorn... & soda pop, too.

Well, we put an offer in on the farm we were looking at. We're s'posed to know Monday if it's accepted. I told Bill if we got this house I'd do whatever it take to make it happen, which may mean delaying my get-off-the-truck plans. At least it won't delay my weight loss plans. There was a time when I believed I couldn't lose weight as long as I was on the truck. Between my own change of mindset, and Bill's support, I've proven that belief to be nonsense.

We'll be going back out on the road tonight. We'll be heading down to the K.Y. and then over to Virginia. This week at home went so fast. It always does. If I'm not back for a while, I'm wishing all of you the best where ever I am. I hope each of you is feeling better, eating better, and enjoying life each day!!

Hi All,

I wonder how many are having probs getting back on 3FC since the server change. It just seems very slow here today.

I am feeling a better now, I went on the message board and read all the posts left for the families of the two women, had a good cry, and now I just try to remind myself how ill the women have been and how as corny as it sounds, it will be a blessing to them to finally be able to stop the fight. Brandnewme, Crock, Nancy, Valerie, Lovelylatina and Butterflyns thank you all so much for your support and caring. I am so lucky to have people like you all who genuinely do care

Valerie - sounds like you have definitely got your head in the right place when it comes to dieting. You can allow yourself little treats and realise it's not the end of the world, and you also realise that even on the road you can still diet and exercise. I can feel it in my bones, you are definitely going to get to goal!!

I hope you get to buy that farm you have your eye on. Let us know if your offer is accepted please

Butterflyns - to you for losing 5. 8 lbs in a week, that is an awesome amount. You are obviously doing something right!!

That's good news that your visitors have moved out. I am sure the quietness will soon become enjoyable again rather than being strange.

Nancy - cool you are a Trekkie, well kind of lol. I spent the last 3 occasions buying Daren the whole set of Star Trek the original series on DVD. Now that he has them I have to make a start on the Next Generation ones. They will take a while to buy because there sure are a lot of them. I think Patrick Stuart makes a great captain!!

Glad that you enjoyed going over your calories to eat a nice dessert. I think we all deserve a treat now and then. If we didn't then we would feel resentful at missing out on everything and our diets wouldn't last long at all.

I like the sound of your rewards for losing the weight. I have so many books I have to read, I just spend too much time sleeping or on here to get around to actually reading them.

Well I am going to see who is around for a chat now. Take care all, and thank you all again for being such lovely friends

Hugs,

Ammi

Hey there all!

Just time for a quick post before I go work out in the gym with hubby

Crockett ~ I started phase 1 today and so did my hubby. I bought the book last night and have been trying to get time to read ever since. I think it sounds like a great plan and we can try to do this together!!!! There are some really good recipes on 3FC south beach section in the food tab. We had mashed cauliflower instead of potatoes tonight... hubby was NOT thrilled *L* but he ate them just the same. They were OK and I will eat the leftovers tomorrow and not toss them *L*

Ammi ~ Sorry to hear about your friends We are hear for you!

Gotta go get some exercise

OOOOOH I almost forgot! I am about to change my ticker!!! I am down UNDER 350!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!!! This week has been a great week for me! Even though I cheated I still lost 8 lbs!!

ok now I really! have to go!!

Brenda -- WAY TO GO!!!!!! you hit a great milestone---congrats!!!

Had a busy weekend ... visited some friends on Friday and Saturday. One of them, also on a quest to lose wieght and is doing really well... well, she is further along than I am and.... I came home with BAGS of new clothes! Some that she bought and never even wore --gained weight and they didn't fit, then she lost faster and didn't wear some of the "on the way back down". I felt like it was Christmas. Actually felt a bit weird about it -- after all, I don't WANT to be able to fit into them for long but.... she has great taste and these are great clothes---and the price was sure right!

Did a bit of "indulgance" this weekend-- ate a few things I shouldn't have let myself, but I kept the amount to a minimum and, so far it hasn't shown up on the scale. Of course, the scale may have gone DOWN had I NOT done that... oh well.....

oh---and my friend made the BEST muffins... 2 points on WW ... she said she'd email me the recipe if anyone else wants it ---SOOOO good, made with Splenda, so that helped, and yogurt. VERY TASTY.

Off to watch the Super Bowl (even though my COLTS are not in it....) and, of course, the Super Bowl commercials Have all sorts of "safe" goodies ready so we don't feel crazed about not ordering all sorts of typical SB food...

have a great evening all!

OH NO! MORE Muffins!! Sigh. Too bad my math is so bad that 1 muffin + me = ALL the muffins gone and more of me, prowling for junk food.

Brenda, WHOOP WHOOP!!! Fantastic to make it under that mark. Every time I break another "0" it's motivation to go for the next one. I'm sure you must be lovin' it!!

This is my last post before we hit the road. The chicken is boiling, the clothes are packed. Sigh... On the road again, I just can't wait to...
