Hiya Chickies!

Hey everyone....Thanks to everyone who congradulated me on my 3 lb lost this week. Today actually went pretty well for a Monday. I decided to wax my eyebrows last night.....big mistake! I have done it plenty of times BUT I was in a hurry last night and put the wax too far down on my eyelid....BIG MISTAKE!!! When I ripped off the strip...the skin came with it OUCHHHH!! I had a cortisteroid cream so I put that on it last night and it isn't too bad today....just stinging alittle...LOL I won't make that mistake again! I must like pain because now I am going for another tattoo tomorrow.

I think keeping myself busy after the breakup is helping. I miss him but I know that this is what I have to do to move on with myself. I asked him not to contact me....Breaking ties 100% will be easier. I will always wonder how he is because the last 2.5 years have been so hard emotionally because he had a stroke at the age of 37. He was a VERY fit man, in the Navy and just promoted. He was at sea at the time of the stroke and they didn't have the medication to stop the stroke before it became massive. His right hand, arm, shoulder are all paralized and he has to wear a brace to walk. I will never forget the call from the hospital and hearing his voice. I couldn't understand anything he was saying and then he started crying and I knew it was serious. We have been through so much since then...the road of stroke recovery, a miscarriage, his release from the Navy...the list could go on. They say "what doesn't kill you....makes you stronger" I hope that is true!

Hugs

kayley - i hear ya. did you look into the discovery health challenge for a gym membership?

Felecia - thanks for the well wishes :)

Just a few quickies...
1) The chili recipe sounds amazing. To cut out even more calories and fat, substitute ground turkey!

2) If any of you live near a Ross (the store) they have exercise videos and DVDs super cheap. I ust bought another WATP video for $3.99 today.

3) If you join the National Body Challenge through Discovery Health you can get an 8-week pass to Bally's Total Fitness. I printed my pass tonight and want to take it over to one of the Bally's near me. They have a Hip-Hop class on Monday nights that I could go to after work. I think there is a small additonal fee for that particular class, but if the pass is free, why not, right?

I was away again with the Youth Group kids...where of course I have no say in my meals and have to do my best...which I am pleased to say that I did. I finally decided I was getting too neurotic for my own good on Sunday when the meal was Israeli-style food (falafel, pita, hummus, etc.) and I said screw it...one meal didn't make me fat and one meal won't break me. I was really good though on portions. Sadly the salad was pre-dressed. but it didn't seem too heave...so I had a bunch of salad, some Israeli salad (cucumbers, tomatoes, olive oil, herbs), a tiny bit of hummus and babaganoush (too mayonaisy...wasn't happy), 4 falafel balls, 1/2 of a piece of pita and a big cup of fruit salad. Could have been way worse. Last night we got together with some friends for a poker night. She tried to get some healthy snacks...but I just was so not in the mood for veggies. But I was good...good enough anyways. Thankfully Jason had some 95$ FF microwave popcorn in the car that we noshed on....it kept me away from the chips (from the mexican grocery store..nothing light about them). I could not resist the chocloate coverd peanut butter pretzels though..but I only had 3. Nice treat!

Today was another day...good for all meals, and I just finshed dinner which was soup, salad and some oven-baked butternut squash. I'm off to coffee in a moment..so toodles!!!

Felicia- That sounds yummy!:hungry: Wrote that one down! Thanks! :)

Luan- I did, and the gym isn't really in my area...OF COURSE!

Butterflyns - OUCH! I've never done ANYTHING to my eyebrows, and I can only IMAGINE how much that would hurt!:fr: What kind of tattoo are you getting? I'm too chicken to get anything! :p I just read about your ex, and that is so sad. You are a strong woman.

Hi Everyone!

I suck again. If I don't sign on for a couple of days I get so far behind and I never seem to catch up with everyone.

I have been watching your progress Kayley and you are doing great! Congrats!

Also, Felicia, I have checked out your blog a few times. I LOVE IT!!! Did you write the code on that yourself? If you did, I bow before thee!!!!!

Now, I am off to read and see if I can catch up . .. . . . . . . again!:o :(

princesspuffypants 01-17-2006 03:15 AM

Kayley - that stinks!!!

i am really not looking forward to my weigh in on wednesday. ive been on my TOM all week, and sick. ive been on point all week, except today, where i only ate 14 points. im just not hungry. its only my first real week, but i wanted to have some loss. im sure i have, but with the bloat from water weight... ack. ok. im gonna stop beating myself up and go eat a yogurt and try to squeeze in some more points before bed.

kayleystar 01-17-2006 07:20 AM

Luan - You are doing great for your first week! :goodscale: Don't fret too much about the water weight.

So once again, I've only slept about 3 hours. I'm so tired of not being able to sleep, despite taking "sleep aids"! I have English Composition, Spreadsheets, and Psychology today, so I have to take more caffeine. I hate this cycle!

Well, I hope you all got a good night's sleep, and I'll talk to yall later!

So yeah.. I love to exercise but i'm one of those people who likes having someone to workout with.. only problem is i can never find anyone.. either all my friends are those skinny types who can eat a whole pizza and not gain a pound or just don't have the time.

Greetings chickie poohs! :dancer: Happy healthy Tuesday morning to you all:ebike: .

Just poppin' in to say hello and sorry:^: I'm not very good at individual responses, I love you all  and read every post every day. Thank you all for being so candid at sharing your lives and challenges with me:thanks: . I feel privilaged to be a part of all of your families:yes: . Also thank you for all the support and good thoughts tword me and my caotic clan:dizzy: .

I haven't been able to get back to my swimming since the girls came to live with me  but I have done little things at home trying to call it:lol: exercise. This weekend I bought some exercise bands to try. I sit on my bed with my legs on it staight out, rap the band under the arches of my feet. Then I lay back pulling the bands up twords my head,:carrot: then I let the gravity of the tension in the band help me sit up. OH BOY!! Abs, arms and lower back know I've been busy:jig: . I LOVE IT.:cp: My left arm kept waking me up with some pain last night, but that means I was doing something right:bubbles: . I am very glad :cheer: I bought those weird things. Wal-mart carries a few differnt brands but I bought The Ultimate Travel Gym by Athletic works for $10. WAY worth it.

I bought a new scale:goodscale and it said I've lost another 6 lbs,:cloud9: but I'm going to wait to change my ticker until I compare it to the scale at the hospital:D . But I belive it. I'm back on my salad twice a day and I feel great:dance: . I measured my self the other day for the first time in 6 months and I lost 5 inches in my waist. Boy :stress: I wish I felt thinner.
The other morning I went into the living room before getting dressed in just a thin nylon nitie. My 9 yr old neice was up and yelled at me "AUNT SHARI,:fr: what happened to your butt?" " Its way small now." :flow1: Oh those babies, they can boost a girl big time:goodvibes . I don't see it but my 15 yr old son said the same thing and he said " mom, you used to be hard all over, now your getting all squishy. You breaking all the fat up in small peices." Sounds gross but it made me smile:sunny: . I had to order new bras too. Mine were hanging weird making me look like I had an old broken down bra on:o . I can't wait till they get here;) .

Anyway, again I've gone:blah: on and on. Thank you for listening (reading) to me blab on. Stregth and happiness to each and everyone of you:goodluck: . Have a great day and smile for no reason at all.

Hello all. Hope everyone is having a positive day!

I'm still trying to get acquainted with everyone...reading the great blogs really helps!

I'm sure you've all shared this many times, but what types of plans are you all following?

I had a very good day yesterday, less than 1,600 calories. Today is going well, too. Here's my food log/plan for today:

B: 1 C Kashi Go Lean, 1/2 C skim milk, 1/2 C 1% cottage cheese, coffee
S: 12 raw almonds
L: 1 low carb wrap with hummus, light cheese spread, cucumbers and cabbage
S: 10 baby carrots
D: enchiladas made with low carb wraps, extra lean ground beef, 1 oz cheese, cabbage, tomatoes, salsa
S: 1 C unsweetened frozen raspberries with 1 carb control yogurt

Have a great day!

thinthinker 01-17-2006 12:57 PM

Felicia: Don't the low carb recipe books include fat grams and calories? I was looking at some other low carb recipes somewhere and they didn't have those two items either. I do WW so I need those stats to figure out points. Just curious. :chin:

Just a quick note while I finish my lunch. I went to the doctor yesterday and things were good. I weighed in on their scale at 340 with clothes on, so I am down from last week's appointment. She checked my records and the only weigh in they had for me under 350 was back in 2002 when I was at 338 and I am now almost back there. My blood pressure was good too - 118/80 which was a pleasant surprise. I will need to wait a few days for the results of the blood tests for cholesterol and sugars. I told her I had been having some knees problems since July and so she also decided to test me for lyme disease. I have been thinking it was my weight, but maybe it is something else. I am so thrilled to have a doctor that doesn't look at all health problems as necessarily weight related.

She was happy with my progress and cleared me for working out at the gym. So I guess I will try and go tonight. I will try the elliptical for a bit and maybe the treadmill too. I think I am going to go ahead and buy an iPod. I have some Xmas money left over and I think it will be great to have to help motivate me while I'm working out.
