Add 30 mins aerobics for me, I feel so good now,I'm REALLY reaping the benefits of regular exercise and lots of healthy veg etc.How are you all feeling?

Great question, Sharon. I've been exercising for -- wow, this is the 5th month. I feel better and stronger. But now I'm starting to see how to work it in regularly, make it a habit... and I have to say that I'm not rebelling at the idea as much. Sometimes I really like the exercising I'm doing, and I'm loving the benefits!! I'm just lighter on my feet -- as you said, not just the exercise, but the healthy eating -- "the package" as it were. I look back at myself 6 months and almost 60 pounds ago and see that woman was teetering on an abyss. I feel like I've pulled myself back from the edge of something really bad and onto this great path!!

Aaarrrggghhhh!:rolleyes: I haven't been to the gym for the past 2 days and I can't get there today either. :( I have so much work to do--I'm working on a banquet menu for the restaurant and it's all computer work. Lots of typing and very time consuming. I came here to take a little break. I'll be sure to go tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to make my time for the month. :?: Maybe if I go Saturday morning and then work out longer next week I'll catch up. Either way--:bravo: to all of the good working out that you are all doing. I'm so proud of you all. :cp:

I haven't exercised this week like I should have. I am having a hard time making it a habit but I am trying! Adding 45 mins of Y!F for tonight! I WILL exercise tomorrow!!!

I did 15 minutes of walking tonight while watching a movie. That brings my total up to 295. The group total is now 3128 + 15 = 3143

Dolphingirl and Manda -- I know what you mean. I got off track last week and still feel like I'm behind in exercise. I'm trying to catch up too. But I also know that this IS about making a habit and the more weeks I worry about this, the more weeks I'm making it a habit! brandnewme -- You are getting there! 60 min twice this week! Nancy -- Good for you for making use of that TV time!! I decided to workout with the balanceball tonight. My physical therapist would approve! Felt like "cheating" somehow, because my notions of exercise have been walking and strength/weights (sporadic that last). But if I'm going to be a healthy person, I want -- no I need -- to get that in a couple times a week for my back. So I included it! 33 minutes to add so 300+ exer-total = 3143 + 33 = 3176 minutes! |
Not up to formal exercise, I've felt so good I have overdone it and the backs of my thighs are sore so I will walk up town, lots of steep hilly bits (I live in Derbyshire, UK). Shopping and window shopping with Aiden in his buggy, pushing him up & down hills should work my upper body too!!!! it should be for 60 mins at least.

HI all! Just checking in REEEally fast from Oklahoma. Yesterday afternoon we were in South Carolina, and we're on our way to pick up a load gonig to Florida, so we're movin! But before that I had a morning with a full 60 minute walk, and I've worked in 15 minutes of stair-stepping on a curb while I was walking the dog, so...

Wyllen - I like walking in front of the TV. It makes the time go by faster. We watched Troy last night and it was a pretty long movie. Tonight I walked while during Battlestar Gallactica (one of my favorite shows).
I did 20 minutes, which makes my total 315. At this rate I will hit my initial goal of 350 by the 15th, so I guess I underestimated myself. That actually feels really good because normally I always set such high expectations for myself that I end up failing. Not that I want to low-ball myself either. The new group total is 3391 + 20 = 3411! |

Today, did probably about 60 minutes of walking...although, I spent 3 hours at the mall! LOL! About 60 of total "REAL" walking...hehe So that's 3411+60=3471!! I should go change my signature to reflect that, too! I work Sat/Sun, so my numbers should be RISING even more. |

I tend to walk on the treadmill for 40 mins every morning and then have a go on the exercise bike for 30+ mins every afternoon/evening, so hopefully I'll be able to contribute to the total every day. I did both bouts of exercise today (plus walked around 3 shopping malls and the city centre, but I won't count them as we just 'strolled') so that is 75 mins for the day (35 on the bike). I've been AWOL from 3FC this week -- lots of late nights -- but I have been to the gym twice for my strength (50 minutes) + aerobic (50 minutes) workout.

Wyllen - I have only really had the twice a day exercise routine set up since perhaps mid-2005, but that is certainly long enough for it to be a well set up routine. For a while even after that I would slacken off at weekends and miss the morning session, wanting to sleep in. I was always hoping DH and I would walk enough during the day, which we usually did, but probably not fast enough. I figured a couple of months ago that this weekend break wasn't necessary and I just get up a little earlier to fit the treadmill in now. I have some hand weights, but I don't use them anywhere near enough. I use 1kg (2.2lbs) hand weights while I walk on the treadmill, but have only started that in the last week or so. I also have 1/2 kilo, 2kg and 4kg weights. I am happy using the 2kg weights, but haven't got them into a routine yet. My plan is that for my birthday in early April, when I am also hoping to be at target, or VERY close, I want to get another piece of gym equipment for strength training. I really should have done this earlier, as I'm finding I have a LOT of flabby bits that I perhaps could have toned up a little more if I had started earlier. Still, losing the weight has been the priority and I have only ever done it for my health, so I'm kinda looking at the loose skin as 'badges of honour'. Vanity may one day make me want to do something about them, but I'm going to see what some strength training can do first. Have already done my treadmill workout, but I think I'll post my times at the end of each day so I just post them once. Off to the zoo today for another walk, but won't count it as it will just be a stroll again. Have fun all! Zelma |

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Weather was beautiful here today and I managed to get out of the house, shopping of course so I will only count my regular workout time. Finally my legs are starting to adjust to the elliptical. I still can only do 5 minutes before they are starting to give out. I will work myself 7 minutes next week at a time. Wyellnn - I think this makes it 5 days in a row :) yeh me!! so for today - Personal w/o time - 195 + 60 = 255 minutes 300+ total - 3818 + 60= 3878 minutes WTG!!!! Brenda :wave: |

kayley -- Do you manage to keep your heartrate up walking in the mall? elmay -- I wondered what had happened to you -- glad you're still with us! Val -- I'm glad to hear you had a good workout. Must feel good to be getting back into the swing of things AND doing it on the road! zelma -- I started keeping track of my minutes to make it a habit. I notice that the successful losers among us such as yourself do a lot of exercise! I am sure I am not yet doing enough, but I'm at least moving in the right direction. How did you make it a habit 2ce a day?? brenda -- five days in a row is fantastic!! Has it clicked for you before this? What's helping YOU stay regular? As for me, we walked the dogs at a good clip, so I ill count it today, even though it's only 12 minutes. At this point, I need to reward myself for even getting out there and moving!! So, 300+ exer-total = 3868 + 12 = 3880 minutes! Wow -- we're almost 2/3 of the way to our 100 hour (6000 minute goal)! |
my husband and I made a calendar and put it in the gym. We get a star sticker for 15 min, a rainbow for 30 and an A+ stcker for 1 hour. I seem to like the rainbows *L* Corny but we have kind of a contest going on and I won hands down this week :) Having the new elliptical is helping too! It had just finally "kicked" in in the fall then the good ole canadian winter hit. We were walking 3-4 miles per day and when I stopped, so did the weight loss. Since I am struggling with this Christmas weight that I gained, I am still trying to jumpstart my metabolism. So far its not working *L* but I am back on the exercise road :D

Did well today. 40 mins on treadmill in morning and 40 mins on exercise bike, followed by 5 mins stepping (100 off each foot).
Also walked around the zoo for 1 and a half hours (we are members so go for short spurts every few weeks) and maybe 3 hours of housework. What a productive day! Won't count those incidentals as walk was just strolling and housework wasn't all really energetic. I still feel as though I have had a great day though. I think it was easier to get on the exercise bike and do the time because I was so active during the day. Hope you are all having an 'active' weekend.:carrot: Group total - 3898 + 85 = 3983 |

Wow - I get to put it up over 4000! Yesterday we went to the mall and walked quite a bit. It was probably more, but I am going to say 20 minutes, which takes my own total to 335.

Nancy -- Nice job putting us over 4K! I got to the gym, and did a nice cardo session on the treadmill AND got in some of the weight stuff. It felt good once we got there. (That seems to be the key. Get there). 52 minutes total! And, now I am over 1/2 way to my Jan goal, so back on track!! SO, 300+ exer-total = 4030 + 52 = 4082 minutes! (over 68 hours!) |
I did 30 minutes of an exercise tape, which puts my total at 365. I almost stopped in the middle but somehow managed to keep on going.

Thankfully most places aren't that seedy, but I was in a really foul mood the whole time I was walking cuz I had to watch all around me, and I was gonna be dangerous if that woman approached me one more time. I had the dog with me off course, but he's just a collie-mix cream puff of a dog. I did locate the rent-a-cop on duty and he chased the junky off the premises, but chose to spend teh rest of the morning studying. Ah, well, 25 + 4302 = 4327 |
Did pretty well on the exercise again today.
40 mins on treadmill in morning, 35 mins on exercise bike in afternoon, followed by 5 mins stepping. I also walked to spend some time with hubby in his lunch break - 10 mins there and back, so another 20 mins. Still plodding along with the housework. Can't wait till it's all finished - suppose I'll have to start all over again then huh? Group total - 4327 + 100 = 4427 Hope to hear that everyone else is having an 'active' day. |
