300+ And Ready To Try Again...#800

WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

A quick note about losing weight quickly. I've been doing this for 4 years and 2 months now. I would love to be doing it much faster, but then I remind myself that fat isn't inert. It is alive, and has blood vessels that supply it with oxygen and nutrients to stay alive. If you have any experience with cutting dogs nails, you know that if they are way too long, you can't just cut them down all at once or you'll cut the vein. You have to cut them close to that, and wait a few days for the vein to withdraw some to cut them again. The reason overweight people get high blood pressure is in part because we have to grow miles of extra arteries, vein, and capillaries to feed all that fat. If you lose weight too quickly, you don’t let your body get the chance to recede those vessels back. If the vessels are still in place, those shrunken fat cells can easily be re-supplied. That’s why it is so easy to regain weight. It also explains why if you can maintain your weight loss for 3 years it is much harder to regain. You would have to grow all those vessels again. I have had to do this slowly because my fat is not only alive, it is an intelligent life form, and I have to be careful not to let it know I am trying to kill it. When it gets afraid for its life, it throws all sorts of chemicals out that mess up my metabolism. I try to keep it blissfully unaware while I ambush it from behind.

Going to lose- I don’t have the boobs to fit a female Klingon’s costume. I actually meant I am built more like the Klingon guys, specifically the owner of the Klingon restaurant on Deep Space Nine. I think we were separated at birth.

Catherine -- LOL! I swear you are giving me nightmares! My fat is alive and outside my body and coming to kill me!! :) Thanks for the great images!

Happy New Year everyone! I had a lovely time on my vacation. Well, that isn't exactly true but, that is what I have been telling myself. Christmas with my husband's family was okay except my MIL was so mean to me. (nothing new) but, after 20 years of marriage, my husband finally heard her and boy did the fireworks start. He got so angry at her and let her know that she was out of line in a big way. We only stayed there for three nights, 4 days then moved on to visit my family which was so much nicer. I went to my Dr. down where I moved from on Friday because I happened to be there visiting my Dad and stepmom and I had been struggling with a head cold that went into my chest. I have a sinus infection and upper resp. infection... again. She gave me a round of antibiotics to take and I am on day two. The good news is that when she weighed me, I had lost 7 pounds while on my vacation. I was so excited. I tried to be conscience of what went into my mouth and to continue to eat only when hungry.

To everyone who is new here... Welcome. I am looking forward to getting to know you better. To all of my old friends... I am so excited about continuing our journey in getting healthy together. Catherine. You make me laugh and I am so excited for your upcomig wedding. I feel like I am involved or am "in on it". To everyone who is struggling or ill, blessings to you all and a big hug.

I pray that 2006 will be our year to get healthy and strong in our bodies. May your year be blessed! Happy New Year to you all my friends.

Blessings,
Dogpal

Hi

To all the new people ~ happy new year and happy new you!!!

To all of the rest of us who keep coming back ~ may we all continue to grow, learn and succeed at this battle together for a healthy, happy new year!

I hope we will all get what we want this year (to get closer to or reach our goals).

Catherine ~ Your dress sounds beautiful. I'm sure it will be beautiful on you.
When we're heavy, we're programmed to think we're these awful, horrible, ugly creatures. It's not true and I'm sure you are just beautiful. I know you're joking about the Clingon, but I also know you are not what other people have told you that you are. Give yourself a little break and celebrate your beauty, girl!!! You're getting married. It's your time. Tell yourself how good you look!!!

~

I got a body fat percentage scale on sale over the weekend. My mother, who also is seriously overweight, got on it and it says her body fat is 64% (She weighs about 35 pounds less than me). She was mortified, and needless to say, is BACK on her diet today!!!

I, however, am apparently so fat that it can't give me my percentage (it was like the scale was saying "Are you crazy? You need a machine to tell you how much of that is fat?!! LOL). Well, now my goal is to lose enough weight so that darn scale will be able to tell me how much body fat I have (I mean, I already know, but I was hoping to use the scale as a meter to see how much fat I am losing as I lose weight ~ as a motivator). It was kind of funny. I'll get that darn machine to work yet!!

I'm glad to be here with you all in 2006! Thanks for helping me so much.

Dogpal -- Welcome back! Sorry you aren't feeling good, but I hope you'll be willing to join us on the exercise thread again!

Tashabella -- Odd as it may be, I totally understand that goal!

Well, I did my weigh-in today, and I'm down 6 lbs from last week! So now I'm at 325 lbs!! Only 5 away from my Valentine's Day goal...I think I'll make it! LOL

thinthinker 01-02-2006 05:54 PM

Tasha: The link comes up right at the top of the forum page if that's where your log in takes you first thing. If you have trouble finding it, just give me a holler. :)

Hmmm, let me see if this works: http://www.3fatchicks.com/newsletter.php It should be the link for the newsletter sign up.

Even though I've only lost 25 lbs, I seem to just have this ENERGY...I've been running...lol. Run to the car after work, run to my car in the parking lot of Meijer last night, and even running out to the mailbox today. I feel INVINCIBLE! lol...My fiance says he can tell in my face that I've lost weight, and I noticed that my t-shirts are already a bit more loose. :D:D:D This is so BIG for me. I've been the SAME SIZE for about 2+ years.

CatherineM 01-02-2006 07:52 PM

I packed my last boxes today. They go to the post office tomorrow. I also do my banking stuff tomorrow - empty safe deposit box, get his name on my account, etc. We can't get married in the church until July, so we are going to marry civilly first so I can get my paperwork started quicker. We were going to marry at his sister’s house, but she is having abdominal surgery just a few days before that, and I wasn’t comfortable imposing on her. So, since we have this huge hotel room already paid for, we are going to move the ceremony over there. This is a Roman fantasy room with statues and columns and a big Roman bath thing. I joked that the guests could all come in togas, but the front desk guys might wonder what we were doing up there. The minister is a Jamaican Anglican. The best man is Chinese, and is bringing a Chinese wedding cake. The groom’s father will be wearing a kilt. I just hope they don’t send the hotel detectives up to figure out what is going on. My lips are going numb from nervousness. I am also going through a type of grieving process I think as I watch my possessions being slowly turned over to the care of the U. S. Post Office. I may never come back here again. That is kind of huge. I’m worried about my diet. I learned one thing while up there in October, Canada doesn’t require the same type of nutritional labeling that we take for granted here in the US. I guess I will have to make everything from scratch, no more short cuts. My -50 degree snow boots come in the mail on Thursday. Yikes. I’ve got the windows open and the ceiling fan on here. He better be worth it.

LOOOOONG-winded - catching up...

HOWDY Everybody!!! Brace yourselves, ladies - I'm back. And I have both the time and the money to finally answer at least most of the posts!

Catherine, you tear me up! I'm overjoyed for you! (Although the ceremony is starting to sound just a bit... wild!) You will be such a divine bride, I just wish I could see it myself. I just hope once you get up there to snow country that you get back on-line pronto. The inspiration you give us is only exceeded by your humour and wit! And BTW I loved your thoughts on the Living Fat. Scary, but true!

Wyllenn - I'm back! Bruised but still not broken! Can you believe that today that girl asked me to get on that horse first? I did of course, and everything went fine. Thank goodness - cuz my right ribs can't take another blow like the last one. Exercise: I got 33 minutes in on Dec, but the forum is closed. I'm already getting started on (insert drumroll...) JANUARY!

Vicki - You totally ROCK! FutureDiva, you too!! I've been noticing some of the losses people have accomplished and I'm FLOORED! I feel so :^: humbled, challenged and inspired by you all! Thanks!!

Healthy Kat and xstchr10 - :welcome: This is THE place! Here, I feel understood, encouraged, challenged and I can see success. I hope you find it the same!!

:welcome: B A C K ! to Kay and Theotherjen!! Kay, you're back on track B4 it went any farther. Now, we're all headed in the same direction! Best wishes to both of you on a successful journey DOWN the road to healthy!

SHARON N.... AMEN!!! Phew! NOW let's move on to 2006!

Sharon VooDoo - I'm so sorry to hear how bad Slim World was for you. That's just NOT what you pay for, or what you want or need when you go somewhere like that. I'm sure that "sweetheart" is costing them a lot of business. But worse, she's letting down people who want and deserve support! She definately gets the Razzberry of the week! I hope you're feeling better, too!!!

Tashabella - Luv your new avatar. It's great that the new WOL is paying off for you! Last month was such a tough month, and you came out of it better than before and moving in the right direction! Imagine how good 2006 will be!!!

Dogpal - I'm doing the happy dance for you, that your DH finally took your MIL :rollpin: down a few pegs for you! And it's about time! WTG! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: on the 7 pound drop!!! That's incredible at ANY time of year!!! What a fantastic way to start the New Year! GO baby GO!

Kayley - Your energy is contagious! Keep up all that running. Isn't it amazing how great it feels?? I can't imagine how good the next 25 pounds will feel - to either of us! ONWARD!!!

Heavens! I'm missing lots of folks - Mom2/5, Jilli, Ammi, Thin,Terri, Tracey, Elmay, Lillion and more... I'm wishing all of us great success and better health this year. Each one of us deserves it. Each one of us works for it despite our individual difficulties, and we'll earn even better health in 2006! Let the party... or the sweatin'...
...CONTINUE! :carrot: :gift: :strong: :cb: :cb: :ebike: :woo: :wl: :balloons: :cheer: ...... :goodscale

dogpal 01-02-2006 11:59 PM

:newyear: Happy New Year everyone!

Tashabella: :goodscale Pretty soon that darn scale will tell you the magic words you want to hear. It stinks when you don't even register on fat percentage things. I've been there. Hang in there. It will happen soon enough.

Wylenn: Yes, I will go and join the January exercise circle. Looking forward to it. I upped my goal by 100 minutes for January.

Kayley: Yea :carrot: :cheer: Good going on your -6 pounds. That is wonderful.

Catherine: I know that your wedding will be something spectacular. Enjoy every step. How exciting and scary to have your last package mailed. It is a great thing though.... love. Hang in there and soon enough you will be in his arms again.

Valerie: Glad to see you got back on the horse. I know when you are hurt that is hard to do. ;) Thank you for all of your support and kind loving words. We can make 2006 a wonderful and healthy year.

Blessings all,
Dogpal
