30-A-Day in May Exercise Challenge

  • This is a totally selfish challenge... I decided to try it myself, and I thought if anyone wanted to join me the accountability would be helpful. The challenge is just this:

    * 30 minutes of planned exercise
    * (any kind, any intensity, just not counting exercise that's part of routine daily existence),
    * trying for every day in the month of May.


    I know, I know, we already have a "Did You Exercise Today" thread and other threads where I could do daily accountability. But it's easy not to feel like anyone notices when I don't post there... which makes it more about bragging when I'm successful, than being accountable every single day. So I thought I'd try this this month, and with any luck a few people would join me, and in any case, I'm making myself accountable for posting here every day for the month of May, and if anyone joins me, I'll do a roll call daily.

    For the record: my goal today is 30 minutes of slow, casual walking. Over the course of the month I want to convert as many of my 30 minutes as possible to higher-intensity biking, but for today I'll start with the whole 30 minutes as walking. I'll check back in when that's done.
  • Angela - I'm totally rooting for you dear!!! I'd love to join you in your challenge, but fact of the matter is, I don't think it's even possible for me to exercise every day. Some days I'm out of the hourse for 12 hours and the idea of exercising when I get home...eghads!!! Good luck though

    I usually do a lot more then that in a day but I think this is a great idea!!
    Harder to fall off the wagon if you are "out there" in full view lol

    I usually do anywhere from 3 to 6 miles a day.
    This breaks down to 1.5 hours a day.

    Okay, so there are only three of us. Anyone who wants to join after May 1 is still more than welcome. (The only thing that got me to go out and walk for 30 min. today was absolutely positively knowing that I had to come and post here!)
  • ok well its the 2nd of May here ... but count me in. I'm planning on using my exercise bike for 30 minutes a day, even if I get a sore backside from it.
  • Ooooo Ooooo Ooooo .. Count me in too !!! This is only my second post here.. and I plan on restarting WW's tomorrow.. I am promising myself to exercise this time !!

    I'll make up the 30 minutes I missed out on today too..

  • Ok, I'm in too. I missed the first so I will try to make up for it slowly this month by adding the 30 minutes for the 1st in. Thank you so much for starting this thread. Good luck to all of us! Here we go.

    Well, I swam for 35 minutes. So I made up for 5 of yesterday's 30 missed minutes. Good going everyone

    but just so you know. i doubt i will do 30 minutes tomarrow ( may 3rd ) as i am having a minor surgary in the morning... i will get back on track and make it up though on wed.

    Walked another 2 miles. That makes 4 miles and 60 mins gone bye bye!

  • Count me in chicks i usually do a one hour excersise video, so i can make up for yesterday. This is a great idea to keep me accountable!
  • I'm so glad to see people joining.... I expect the shame of not turning up here will actually keep me exercising most of the month.
