Hello Everyone!

How is everybody doing? I am doing pretty good. I am actually getting actually enjoy my Aerobics tape. I have been reading bits and pieces of Dr. Phil's book. The exercise section says to do a exercise for a month and SMACK you will learn to enjoy it. I was like whatever Dr. Phil. And now I am enjoying exercising in my living room w/ Denise Austin. GO FIGURE! The DVD I have is pretty good it has three levels of intensity so it will grow with my fitness level.

I am going to try to get my other bike out of storage tomorrow and start riding 5 miles again. My other bike was stolen out of my front yard ON MY BIRTHDAY. How crappy is that!! But I have the man bike that was its twin so I just got to get the tire fixed on it and I will be ready to roll.

I have a twelve year old niece that is up for sale. I might even give her away. SHE IS DRIVING ME CRAZY. I swear if she is not fixing to start her TOM then we are in deep deep crap when she does. She is 4 foot blonde psychopath  . She has now idea what she is doing. I have yet to kill her so I am doing good on controlling myself.

Loki: I am so with you I have yet to be brave enough to go to the "girl" doctor. I am currently trying to work up the courage. I have really dry skin and in the winter and I do have itchy boob syndrome. The nipples are the worst. Especially since you just can't scratch you boob in the middle of the office. Congrats on finding an outfit.

Hilta: :bravo:

Julee: Good luck with the Crockpot Chicken. :bravo: on the credit card debt that takes some major doing. If you can do that than losing weight is nothing! OH I forgot about that Law & Order. I really like Jerry Orbach!

Terri: Two more horses? $50,000 horse!!! That is more than our house!!

To everybody who is going to doctors: I schedule all of my "stuff" around my birthday - that is my gift to myself. Pap, eye exam, yearly check-up, (even the much feared colonoscopy!). Please don't anybody put off a trip to the doc because of shame of your body. Most of them have seen it all anyway, and if not, I figure by the time I have gotten off the exam table they have gotten an eyeful, and will have a story to tell their grandchildren. I have never had a doc or nurse or aide say anything nasty to me about my body, and if they did the top doc at the place would hear about it. Please don't neglect your health!! It's the greatest gift we have - just ask anybody who hasn't got it.

thin - on the same topic: sshhh about the first appointment business!! That's what I do also, and we don't need competition for those spots, right?
Also, I have not been out having fun, unfortunately. For some reason I am still very tired after those bugs I had in Feb, my daughter is also having problems shaking them. Hubby and son NEVER get sick though.

Julee - I was also 5/4 and 140, also a size 10, at one time in my life. And I didn't appreciate it then, and neither did hubby. We have a picture in our wedding album where I am carrying him (with help from a friend) over the threshold of our hotel room, because we both thought I was too fat to be carried. Sort of a joke, sort of not. I worked sooo hard to be that size, but it wasn't good enough. Over the years we have both learned our lesson - and have found out what fat is all about!

Loki's - I wasn't going to type this, but changed my mind because of the timing of the thing. Maybe it's kismet, but I hope not. I got an email yesterday about "be aware of a rare type of breast cancer" which described something called Paget's Disease of the Breast. What I read in your post today reminded me of what I read just yesterday, and I can't imagine you have that, but like I said it's the timing. You can look it up easily on mayoclinic.com, just search for "Paget".

Hello to everybody: ageoldie, determined, angela, the hippy duo, iwillbe, jilly, lilion, hilta, cd (where are you?) suemarie, judy-ann, 2cute, and now my brain is fried - can't think of other names!

OMG, my dd just called - she's on her way home from school. When we were talking she coughed hard, and up it all came on her shirtfront. She is just exhausted, should have stayed home from school, but has the weekend to vegetate now. Oh, Lawdy Miss Maudy.

Bye for now -Ruby :(

 Bon Voyage Chicks!

Sorry I can't stay long. It's been a crazy week. I've been working pretty much non-stop and now I have to get us ready for the trip - after a little more work, that is. :^: We are outta here tomorrow for our cruise. We'll return home on March 14th!

We had a consult with our fertility specialist yesterday and discussed the protocol for our next cycle. We are mixing up the drugs a bit and hope to improve response a little more. We'll do another IVF cycle in mid-April. That means I'm out for the Spring Fling Part II. I had a blast last year in OK and was hoping to make it to MI this year. Sorry! If any of you are on the fence about going..GO!!! You will have a blast and I'll be thinking about you!!! :D

Have a wonderful week! I'll talk to you soon!

Hugs!

Just a quickie...
I am looking for the WW recipe for the baked apples where you use the diet black cherry soda...does anyone have it? Can you use a granny smith apple? I don't care for red apples so much. I'll be sure to post the dinner recipe later...it was DEEE-LISH and the sauce I used is really great for points or core.

Lilion 03-04-2005 11:57 PM

Just a quick note:

Hope you all are doing great and that you'll have a great weekend.

Tomorrow will be my first "test" out in public. DH and I have an SCA event to go to. On the up side, most people, ourselves included, take your own food to the events. DH ran out and got Subway so we have sandwiches to take, and grapes to nibble on when we get hungry. We've already decided that we won't stay for the feast that winds up the day...we were supposed to help serve, but they'll get by and we won't be around to eat whatever medieval goodies they've prepared. Sounds like we've got it all worked out...but I will most likely get tagged to help in the kitchen. That's going to be the hard part, being around all that yummy smelling stuff all day.

Julee and Ruby: I have never been a 10. When I was 13 I remember my mom taking me shopping for an outfit for a funeral. I believe that was the last size 14 I ever bought. But I look at pictures of myself at 19 and 20 years old, and even older, when I was a 18 or so, and I looked so good! Fact is, it amazes me that at my weight I don't wear a bigger size than I do. I'm a pretty solid 24. But I think it's just that I'm very squishable. Being every bit of 5'10" sure helps.

Loki's: Glad you found an outfit you like. Can't give you any pointers with the boob's. Mine are miniscule compared to my behind! That's pretty much where my weight goes. (And when I lose, they just get smaller before anything else!)

Ladies all: I have to agree with the other ladies that said go to the Dr. The OBGYN is no the most pleasant of experiences, but it is so important. Of course, once you've had a baby, you have no modesty about anything! :o

Julee: Nice that folks are noticing! Good for you.

Well, that's all for now. Got to get up early so I can go surround myself with a kitchen full of food.

Good morning ladies, :coffee: I read all of the post and answers were spinning around in my head :dizzy: What do you bet I can't remember any of them?

GYN Dr. :fr: True confession time--I haven't been in ten years either, fear of fat? No, I think mine is fear of table, as in not being able to get on it. :o The last time I had to do that, it was a struggle and I didn't weigh nearly as much as I do now. As someone said, we can all weigh about the same and have such different body anatomy. First of all, I am only 5' 2 1/2 " tall, short fat legs and enormous rear end, as someone else said not a pretty picture. It makes lifting oneself up a challenge. I have not shared that with anyone in my family, they all think I am nuts for not going! I think I am nuts for not going! I know how important it is.

Catherine, you have my deepest respect for doing what I think of as unthinkable. You are putting your health first and to heck with what the dr. or nurses think as long as they keep it to themselves. Isn't that the way we should all feel? Just go and do the things we need to and be :censored: with the rest! I really enjoyed reading you post.

Hilta, :cp: Way to go! 2.75 is great. You are doing good girl. Keep going! :D

Thin, I think my kultz must be rubbing off on you. I thought I was the only one that could lose a post! LOL. I don't know how you find time to post to all of us, You have so much going on. I am getting D U L L :p retirement is nice, but it can be boring. I have to read what all of you are doing just to keep my brain active

JuleeCee, how was the chicken dish? Give us the exact recipe? I can't believe You had rather watch Law and Order than to "talk"to us ;)

Loki. congrats on finding an outfit to wear to your special occasion. That can be a toughie. I have the opposite problem, not so much in the bust, but I have to buy everything big enough to go over my hips and then it is too big in the bust and sleeves are always too long.

You know, after RE-READING SOME OF THIS IT OCCURS TO ME THAT ALL WE REALLY NEED TO DO IS LOSE WEIGHT.    What a simple solution, why hadn't I thought of that before?

Time to get off of here, I think I have had too much coffee, and no it wasn't spiked. I am always this silly. ;) See Ya later. Iwillbe

Hi Ladies,

I got a nice surprise this morning when I stepped on the :goodscale:. I'd lost 4 lbs. last week. :cloud9:

JULEE:I'm looking for that recipe for you. So far no success. I even tried the WW Online recipe search with no luck.

IWILLBE:"IT OCCURS TO ME THAT ALL WE REALLY NEED TO DO IS LOSE WEIGHT." ;) :spin:
Darlin', truer words were never spoken.

SCOOTER:You may just be influencing me to dig out my dusty Susan Powter tapes. I love them because she gives you sooo many options and has real "fat people" on them. :coach:

Hi to everyone else. It's time to grab breakfast and start the Saturday run around while the skies are blue and the roads are clear.

Iwillbe 03-05-2005 08:42 AM

Judy, Way to go, four lbs is fantabulous. :bravo: :cp: I am next! :^: Iwillbe

JuleeCeeS 03-05-2005 04:38 PM

Spicy Crock-Pot Chicken
(I know this is core, not sure about points, but the sauce I used was 80 calories and no fat per serving and I know there was fiber in it)

1 Jar Trader Joes Pomodoro Marinara (or your favorite hearty marinara sauce)
1 Can Trader Joes cut tomatoes with green chiles
6-8 oz fresh sliced white mushrooms
Boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into small pieces (as much as you need)
Diced onions to taste
Fresh chopped garlic to taste
Oregano, basil, red pepper flakes to taste

Spray crock pot with Pam
Toss everything in and mix.

I think I cooked it for about 2 1/2 hours on low and a little less than 2 hours on high. The chicken was sooooo tender. Please note that the spices, onions and garlic are all to taste based on your preferences. The tomatoes with the chiles have some kick to them.

I served this over brown rice (Trader Joes frozen in the green box) with a side of steamed broccoli and a nice salad.

BF does points and it came out to a very filling and low point meal for him. Let me know how you like it and if you make any modifications.

This would also probably be great with extra lean ground beef or even the Morningstar Farms veggie crumbles (burger style or sausage style).

B'Teiavon (Good eating...in hebrew)!

This is sit-up Saturday, so how many did everyone do? I did 600. I realize that makes me seem like some kind of crazy person. When I first started trying to get in shape, I couldn't walk more than 20 feet, so I had to come up with exercises that I could do just laying in bed. I started just rolling on my stomach and doing flutter kicks for a minute at a time at first. One day I was trying to reach for a blanket at the end of my bed, and kept missing it, and realized I had just done a couple of sit-ups. I started with 10 then 20, etc. At one point last summer I was up to 1,400 a day then came down with a nasty prickly heat. I actually started doing them bottomless so that I didn't have the friction of my pants adding to the mix. Now that I'm actually walking, I don't have time to do that many and have settled on 400-600 at least 5 times a week. I just told myself through all this that any movement is a victory.

Loki-Your itching problem might be a fungus. My roommate has a very large bust, and last summer during the hurricane onslaught, the moisture and humidity levels made lots of things grow in places that we would just rather it didn't. My bust is so small that it doesn't even cast a shadow, but I had lots of other places where I've had various "fold irritations." If it is just a dry skin issue, try tea tree oil. I have used that to great success in keeping my skin from sagging during this weight loss.

Tomorrow is my weigh-in, and I just hope that if I haven't lost any, that I won't throw too big of a tantrum.

Howdy chicks.

Quiet this afternoon.

The house is quiet again. :D #2 SS is on his way home. He had a very successful week. He ended up with three job offers and found a couple of places to rent. He was going to decide today on the duplex before heading to the airport. They will be moving up here in about two weeks. It was also very successful from the standpoint of DH and he making strides to becoming friends and letting go of all the past crap. But my GAWD he can talk about anything and everything ad nausem. Just about did me in this morning.

Today was the ride to raise money for St. Judes. We also helped with the food. Beautiful day. Sun shining. Crisp but not too cool. Fabo! I had a nice ride on Tanyah. She and I went off on our own and then again with Cherie. She got a good workout too. They were doing a silent auction with all the proceeds going to St. Judes. I got a brand new Pampered Chef Chillzane serving tray for $15. Score! I also got a private lesson with the horse trainer which wasn't quiet the score because I purposefully signed up first and with a high bid. I wanted no competition!

The trainer was talking about how she's lost 105 pounds. Thanks for Dr. Phil. Inspiring.

So for sit up Saturday, I didn't do situps but did horseback riding with lots of trotting so it was a workout for the back and legs. I will walk the dog later because he hasn't been walked in days. I haven't exercised in days either. That all changes NOW.

I need to get a menu planned for next week too.

Looks like we're going to paying for a visit with the BIL's lawyer to see if his son can really be doing the things he's doing. He keeps coming into his dad's house and taking things. The fiance lives there and lived there with the BIL before all the health issues. Today, the stupid son, barged into the house with a video camera and taping everything in the house. We keep telling her that since he doesn't live there he has no right to enter the house without her permission or if he thinks he can act as a landlord, he still has no rights to do that to a tenant. DH told his mom that she was just going to have to participate in this conference for the protection of her son.

GYN -- GO! Obesity has higher cancer risks especially uterine. It is only a few minutes a year to save your life!

Judy - :bravo: on your four pounds lost.

Catherine - Wow, that's a lot of situps. :cp: That is awesome. Interesting on the tea tree oil. Good luck with WI.

Julee - Thanks for sharing the recipe ideas. Looks yummy too!

 to everyone else!

j-ann 03-06-2005 11:33 AM

Mornin'

Wow, everyone must be sleeping in.

It's lightly snowing here but the birds are singing and it's above 30ºF so it's got to be a good day. I'm going to spend the afternoon cleaning. Yeah, I know, borrring, but it's got to be done.

Terri: So glad you did the ride and got that lesson. You're going to become a wiz-bang horsewoman, especially now that you have 2 more!!! Sorry to see you have to try to do something about the nephew. I'd suggest that the fiance chang the locks if her name is on the lease.

Catherine: You're making me tired with all those sit-ups. WOW! :cb::cb: Hope your W/I went well today.

Ah, no rest for the weary ..... back to work :coach:

Lilion 03-06-2005 12:09 PM

Well, Here we are again! Good Morning Ladies! I hope everyone has a really good weekend.

My event was okay, diet-wise. Turned out they had plenty of kitchen help and I didn't need to surround myself with food anyway. We did have samples of some medieval food. But DH and I only took one sample of each and split it between us, so we literally had one bite of five different dishes. On the way home we stopped an an international grocer for some seasoning we'd been looking for and they had freshly baked baklava on the counter. I LOVE BAKLAVA! But we only bought one small piece and split it between us too...three bites each. Probably still a bizillion calories, but it was worth it. So, not counting the baklava, we were under points for the day, yesterday.

Unfortunately, we ended up at County Kitchen with friends this morning! But at least I left some of my hash browns, ate only 1/2 my bagel and didn't order anything with gravy! And it's early, so I'll just be good the rest of the day and be back on track.

So, that's as close to success as I'll get for Sunday! I'm considering this as an "everything in moderation" lesson and congratulating myself for at least not pigging out!:ink:

Catherine: Wow! 600 sit-ups a day! I don't do one! But I should!

Julee: Yum! I'm going to have to try that recipe. We love our crock-pot.

Ladies: Have a great day! :sunny: I need to get moving. I have sewing to do today, while I still have many beautiful medieval gowns running through my brain from yesterday and the desire to make something new.

Hello Ladies~
Sorry to have been MIA for a few days. Been busy busy! Friday morning was spent in court thanks to a former friend, a decision made just before going to court, when she was the one who caused me to be there and then couldn't even lift a finger to help me out in getting there or anything, so I had to inconvenience my MIL.
Court was because of spendign time with her due to the loss of her grandmother and my driving, getting pulled over, and not having a license. So now I have 6 weeks to get it back to avoid any further fines. And it is turning out to be a big deal.
So now even though I was looking into going to Spring Fling, I have other things on my plate that will prevent me from doing so. Alas though, it has been 8 years since I had my license and I am rather looking forward to getting it back.
After I do have it back the next step is to get back to work, then get a car of my own....woo hoo!! :spin: :D :cp: Just hoping I can get financing somewhere as I have pretty cruddy credit and no one willing to help me in financing a vehicle.
One step at a time I guess!!!
Other than that, been a pretty good girl. Sleeping is all whacked out, so going back to work may be more of a pain in the butt than anticipated. But alas, I will cross that bridge when I get to it.
I guess that is it for now, not looking forward to Tuesday (WI day) but I hope to have lost at least a little bit!

Loki's Concubine 03-06-2005 05:30 PM

Hi out there! Today's been a good day. I haven't done anything, unless you can count walking around in the super walmart exercise (which I guess it is in a way lol). We did stock up on some better foods though; some boca stuff, veggies, stuff for breakfast which I need to start eating. I've never ever had lasagna before and chose to eat one of those Boca lasagna meals instead of getting Arby's like my Father... and I was so glad I did! It was great! And under 300 calories. Yay!

I also noticed over the weeks that the program I use to keep track of calories and other things is sending up red flags. I had no clue how much fat grams and sodium I was consuming but when I go back and look at the days, I'm shocked really. There are way too many fat grams and the sodium.... well some days it's over 200% of the daily value! So I've really got to start being aware of those two things as well as the calories. There's also a new diabetic food store in town that I'm hoping to check out.

Other than that, nothing new. I am proud of myself though... I wanted something sweet after eating the lasagna and my Mom brought in a bowl of chocolate covered cherries. I ate one, covered the dish back up and told her to take it away again. Heh, that's good for me!!! I sat down last night and typed up a 5 page spreadsheet listing different candies and detailed their calories, fat, carbs, and sodium. (This wasn't for me but for a friend who is a candy fiend.) I think I shall use it though. If we make up those snack size bags and mix up the candy... only allowing 100 calories a day for it, it would give us something sweet during the day and we couldn't go overboard. :)

Hope you're all having a good day and catch ya later!!
