YEA !!! I did not think it would let me post my Happy Holidays again. :)

Now that I am here... I forget what was on the last thread. :?: LOL

Terri.... Chocolate CRACKLE !!!
That sounds much yummier than chocolate crackers.
I don't know how you guys are doing it. I don't think I can bake this year. At least not ALONE. LOL If there is no one here to "see me" take a bite ... then I can't be trusted. LOL
I bought some LC chocolate mint goodies that are to DIE FOR !!!! Mmmm
I won't be able to have them around on a daily bases either. :o
They are sooooooo good !! Better than Girl Scout Chocolate Mint Cookies.
They are close to being Christmaseee.

I have another day of NO CHEATS !!! I seem to have my food under control ... but barely making my water... and NO EXERCISE at all. Well.. that is only half true. Shopping for a couch potato is exercise ... but I won't count it.

Barbg... I really am worried about you. The last time you were gone this long you said it was because your food was not good. I hope you haven't drowned in a boul of chocolate cream pie filling. Wipe the crumbs off your face and get back in here. :drill:

Terri... I have missed your :drill:. I never thought I would say that.
Get his butt back in here too. :drill:

Thin... I truly believe this year I won't look like that cat after dinner Christmas day.
I feel STRONG !!! I really want this !!! I am ready for it to be MY TURN !!!
I have a midterm goal to weigh less on my birthday in February than I did last year.
My short term goals are our 2x2 challenges. Hopefully I will meet them all. :)

My living room is STILL not clean. I am going to go work on it.
I would sing another verse... but I feel like I am monopolzing the microphone. ;)

Just popping in to see if my loss tracker is hooked up right. I am just awful with this stuff!!! Trust me.....I've been at this for almost 2 HOURS!!! :censored:

I get so jealous of Barb!!! And you too!! You both just add the cutest things and I cant get the simple tracker on!!!!

Have a good one.

SEARCHING4ME 12-22-2004 02:33 AM

Yep......still ain't got it!!!! I set one up, just don't know how to cut and paste stuff

:censored: :dunno: :dizzy:

Trust me.....it took me a month to figure out the smilies!!!

Chocolate Crackles

We have chocolate crackles here in Australia, but they are totally different ... they are made from cocoa powder, coconut, powdered sugar (we call it icing sugar), copha (coconut shortening) and rice bubbles .... we mix up all the dry ingredients, melt the copha and pour in, mix really fast then put spoonfuls into paper cases and set in the fridge. They are incredibly sweet, chocolately and of course about 2000 calories per crackle!!!! They are very very popular at school fetes.

I am on the last bit of my thesis. My supervisor has the vast majority of it now ... I have about 2 or 3 pages to write and I will be sending through the conclusion and future research directions section to him. Then I need to wait for his comments and maybe make some small changes, but I am mostly done ... I am hoping tonight! I am still very very stressed but at least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel (just hoping it isn't a large train!!)

I can't believe its only 3 days until Christmas. I keep reading about all the preparation that everyone has been doing and it makes me a bit sad that I haven't been able to do much this year due to time pressures. The most we will be having is a christmas tree and maybe some christmas crackers on the table, with a nicer lunch/dinner than usual. I keep telling myself that next year will be different. I really love my kids for being so understanding about all this, and supporting me even when I want to give up.

Anyway, I have to go and get back to the last bit of this ... *nose down, backside up*

:bravo: Leanne!!!!

Sorry, no time for a post. I'm trying to get caught up on all the budget and bills plus get ready for work. Time to hit the shower.

Anyone watch The Biggest Loser last night? I am really inspired by their success. I'm trying to convice DH that he and I need to have a little challenge and the biggest loser by the first of May gets to decide where we're going for vacation. He need incentive!

Have a good day and don't do anything you're going to feel terrible about!

WANTED: Journaling Tips

Hi all,

Well it is official, we are now homeowners. :D I have not had too much time to read or post. I have been totally off program this past week. I have gotten lots of cards in the mail. I am going to make a big scrap book of everyone on here. When I get the time that is. Right now I have two days left of work, and I have to pack and clean up and get everything organized for our pet sitters. We are planning on leaving at 3am on the 24th. Have yet to decide whether we are driving straight through or spending the night somewhere. Not quite sure when we are coming back either. I will try to post from down there. I should be able to get on once in a while.

Everyone has been talking about journaling. And I am curious how everyone does it. I am not good at it at all. And I am wondering how people have theirs set up. How they have it organized, how and when they write things in etc. I am totally sucking at this and I think it may help me if I could get it down right. So any ideas will be helpful.

I don't have time to post personals right now. Congrats to everyone who lost weight, and who is doing good with making goodies and not eating them. Well, I have got to get ready for work. Thank goodness only two more days. I love you all and think of you constantly.

Ps. Thought about signing up for the biggest loser, than realized that I would so be a wimp.

Have I been gone? I've been reading, but just really busy, as I'm sure everyone else is. I don't know if I mentioned it, but my DIL's grandmother died Friday and she and her mother left Sunday morning to go to way south Texas (the tip, almost in Mexico). She left GS Nathan with Son Mike. Mike called me yesterday and asked if the offer to help him with Nathan was still on, so I'm going to get him about noon and keep him tonight. (Son works 2:00-9:00 and he can take Nathan with him, but it being Christmas, Mike was really busy). So I decided that I needed to get the Christmas packages wrapped and under the tree and get some stuff done around the house before he gets here.

It is sleeting here, so I'm being ugly and not going to the healthclub to exercise today. Now that I've decided that, I think I'm going back and crawl back in the bed.

Ho, Ho, Ho

Good Morning Ladies!!!!

I am now on VACATION until Jan 3rd! :cb: :hat: :merry: I have just caught up with everyone's posts. It sounds like we're all doing well and staying OP for the most part! Well done!!

First things first...

Thin: :lol3:  to your kitty overdose. That was wayyyy too cute. Heaven forbid I look like that after Christmas dinner...heck, I don't even LIKE cat food!  Speaking of Christmas dinner, I have decided to be very non-traditional this year. I hate to cook, as most of you already know, and having to cook a huge dinner on Christmas Day always casts a pall over my enjoyment of it. Therefore, with DH's very enthusiastic blessing, we are going to cook it ahead of time, put it all in containers as we usually do with leftovers, and then just nuke our plates and have a candlelit dinner. That way, we can enjoy the whole day without the hassle of cooking and dishes!!

A BIG HUGE "Yippeeeee" to the release of the next Harry Potter installment!! My whole family loves Harry and whenever she has released a new book, I read it out loud to DH and my son.

Let's see...what's left. Oh yes, the gift buying is almost done. We are headed out shortly to get a couple of things for Jenniah and DH needs to get his shopping done for me (he doesn't drive yet, so he has had to wait until we could go together). We have come upon a glitch in our plans, however. We were planning to get a PlayStation 2 for my son as his "big" gift from both us and my parents, but for some reason they are sold out everywhere in the Burlington area. :( Even the retailers are at a loss as to why, since they have been on the market for 4 years. So, we have to do some fast thinking and figure out what to get him instead. Other than that, we need a few stocking stuffers and we are DONE!!!!

Last but not least, I have been SOOOO good with food!! I didn't eat ANY and I mean ANYYYYYYY goodies at work at all this past week, and believe me, they were everywhere!! Last night and Monday night at my bowling leagues we had our potluck dinners to celebrate the holidays and I did really well!! I had a little bit of everything I wanted to try and didn't gorge!! I am going to Curves this afternoon and then will be back on track with exercise.

Okay, gotta run. However, seeing as the Grandma/Reindeer song has pretty much been exhausted, I will start a new carol:

"Oh, you'd better watch out, you'd better not cry
You'd better not pout, I'm tellin' you why....
Santa Claus is coming...to town!"

(Sing it, ladies!!!! ;) )

Have a great day!

WOW.... here is a post from a successful woman on Low carb.
Her words do not apply to only low carb. It applies to WW or TOPS or any other plan.
thought it might inspire you as much as it has inspired me.
Her post was in response to a woman struggling and wanting a One on One weight loss buddy.
------------------------------------------------------------------

Sweetie .....

You've been here nearly as long as I have and I suspect that you know by now that you are going to have to find the will to stick to it and just do it somewhere within yourself. None of us can give it to you. I wish we could coz I'd be glad to do so! And there have been times when I could have used someone giving it to me!

Truth to tell I did great on this WOE for about 8 months. Then I started allowing the occasional not so great choice and even one outright cheat while on vacation. That was October 2002! Took me clear through to December of 2003, and a 50 pound gain, to admit that I was way off track and needed to get back to basics and stay there. I suspect that you are wandering somewhere in the wilderness where I spent 2003. I pray it doesn't take a huge gain to get you back on track.

Karen ... the truth is that I believe Dr. A was right ... you can't cheat ... not even a little! You have to get to the point ... or at least I did ... where you have to decide that you want life, and health, and energy and all those good things more than you want unlimited carbs!

Do I still want a Christmas cookie or a piece of fudge ... an apple dumlpling with cinnamon ice cream ... a piece of pizza ... etc. Of course I do! But I know where they lead and I don't want to go there! Those things and many others have called to me ... sometimes louder than others ... over the past year but I have chosen to walk away and not give in. It hasn't always been easy but I am so glad now that I have persevered!

How did I do it? The simple answer is that I just decided my health was worth more than any food could be. I was on a slippery slope to an early death and I knew it! I had very high blood pressure and I was borderline diabetic. Combine that with hypothyroid and a few other little issues and not only did I not feel good but I was trouble waiting to happen. So I decided that I needed to do whatever was within my power to get healthy and for me I was convinced that meant low carb with NO CHEATS! So on December 31 of 2003 I committed to making 2004 a cheat free year. I felt that I could commit to one solid year to see what I could do. A year was doable and if the benefits didn't outweigh the "price" I "paid" to achieve them ... I could choose another path for 2005.

Long story ... short version ... I won't be choosing another path .... 2005 will be my second cheat free year. No bad choices! No excuses! Because the benefits far outweigh the price! Not only have I dropped 110 pounds in 2004 but I am so much healthier! The bike that I could do 5 minutes on, panting all the way, in April ... I did 52 minutes on today. The weights that I could barely lift for one set of 8 reps ... I'm doing 3 sets of 12 with heavier weights. Walking is easier. People comment not only on my appearance but on my energy level, mobility, and BREATHING! Who would have thought they noticed your breathing?

And you know what else? The more you make the right choices ... the easier they get to make! Yes ... I would still like a cookie but it doesn't HURT to walk away from it the way it used to.

The truth is Karen that you have to start exercising your will! Your will to make healthy choices. Your will to eat what's good for you! Your will to get some exercise. Etc.

YOU have to choose to be good to you! And sometimes that means telling yourself ... "no!"

Hello ladies! I was gone all day and I'm BEAT!! #1 Son has had my van for the last 3 days and I've been driving his Monte Carlo. YUCK! It's not that it's not a nice car, but I HATE driving cars! And it's not so much driving them as hauling this butt up and out of them and back into them that I detest. I just like my van. It's not such an effort to get in and out of.

Well enough whining from me. I have my "truck" back tomorrow and I hope to get my errands run early so I can wrap and clean.

Mom is coming for dinner on Christmas Eve. Then we'll probably play poker afterwards. Then on Christmas morning she'll come by for breakfast and we'll exchange gifts with her. In the afternoon we'll be gone to my IL's for dinner and evening presents.

I don't know why I was so stupid as to schedule jobs this week. What a dope! The two grocery stores I did yesterday weren't so bad, but I had an online job tonight as well as "showgirl" stuff to do this afternoon and I have a bank job to pull tomorrow. You'd think I would learn! Guess not.

I'm headed for bed. I hope to have more energy in the morning. :crossed: Love  ya bunches!

niece coming to live with me

Good morning all busy day on hand 2 days till Christmas this is the last day of school for the district that i work for HIP HIP HORRAY the kids really need a break i think the drivers, teachers , teachers aids , the kitchen help just about every adult in the school system needs the break. We get out 2 hours early. I don't know why they do that if we are going to get out early why cant we get out at 11 instead of 1 it just don't make any since to me i guess it is something to do with having it count as a day or something. Oh well !!
Big difference in the weather the last 3 days i woke up to -2,0, 7,:o this morning it is 41 and going to stay warm and it is going to rain today with high winds.

:)I have had some wonderful news my Niece is coming to live with us, her mother is my sister and when she and her EX hubby split (long story ) the kids 1 girl and 1 boy now 16 1/2 and 13 the kids paternal grandparents step in and said that they would take care of the kids {but never keep them from there mother} { father went to jail and was not to have anything to do with kids } the grandparents went to court and got custody of the kids and there was a few years that they would not let my sister even see her children she had to go to court and get visitation to see the kids ( we don't have money for lawyer) this was a few years back . The grand parents have been breaking the court order since it was made and there has not been much we could do about it the expense of lawyers in this commonwealth is really high and the fact it is a commonwealth does not help But i am rambling........Long story short my niece has said she has had enough of her grandmother {she is a nasty woman she reminds me of the dog lady in 101 dalmatian movie } and she wants to live with her mother well her mother lives in another school district and are school has the block schedule meaning that they only have class for 1/2 the year like English for the first semester and history the second that type of thing , and the school district that her mom lives in has regular scheduling so if she switched school she will miss 1/2 a year of some of her classes and there would be no way she would pass the year , and being in 11th grade we don't want to see her have to repeat a year so She is coming to live with me Yeah my dd who is an only child will have to share her room for the first time in her life {along with all her stuff} should be an interesting winter . OH Yeah have i mentioned that the grandmother is also my BOSS ---------what have i got myself into -----------no stress in my life HAHAHA

Sorry so long winded :p

eddies_heart 12-23-2004 08:13 AM

Good Morning

Hiya wonderful women!!!

First off, y'all need to know that the fact I am up this early when it is only my 2nd day of vacation is amazing!!!

Yesterday DH and Jenniah and I made a day of it, out shopping (I dropped them at the mall as I went to Curves...Yippee!!! 3 times around), then home for her nap then out again to other stores. We finished the day out for dinner at a new Ponderosa where I had grilled shrimp, salad and only a little mac/cheese and potatoes w/gravy. I did NOT gorge and am so proud that I finally went to an all -you-can-eat buffet restaurant and did NOT eat all I could have!! I did have some of the choc. creme pie they had for desserts, but didn't eat it all.

Well, no PlayStation 2's to be found at all in the city of Burlington, so we got Shayne Lord of the Rings on audiocassette and some other cool stuff. He didn't know for sure we were getting the PS2, so we'll get it for him for his birthday in July. Other than that, we finished up all our shopping so just have wrapping to do. I have to go grocery shopping though

Memoe: Congrats on your niece coming to live with you! Enjoy it!

Well, gotta run. I have to get dressed before I decide to go back to bed. Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi all! Just stopping in for a few minutes before I hit the streets.
:o  :o  :o  :o  :o

Anyway, first things first!
Lisa: You haven't been around for a long time, but I hope you're reading and you'll see that we miss you.
:balloons:Happy Birthday to You!
Happy Birthday to You! :hb:
:gift:Happy Birthday, dear Terri!
Happy Birthday to YOU!!!!
And many more! :balloons:
Hope you have a wonderful day!

2cute: Well, someone I know will be leaving their White Christmas to come and see you. I sure hope you ordered snow for her down there too. ;)

Evilyn: Don't get discouraged. Come back and post even if you can't get the tracker to work for you.

Leanne: I'm sure my card will not get to you in time and I apologize. I didn't get them mailed until this past weekend and I'm sure that the mail isn't THAT efficient. :( Glad your thesis is finished. Now you'll be able to enjoy your holiday.

Terri: I didn't get into the Biggest Loser. I watched the first one and then thought this rapid weight loss and such strenuous exercise right off for some that hadn't done anything in so long was a bit unhealthy. Then when they kicked somebody off because they only lost like 7 pounds in a week instead of 15 just really turned me off. Maybe I should have looked at it differently, like "am I willing" like these people are, but that's not how I took it. Oh well. Hope you're ready for the holiday.

Skittles: CONGRATULATIONS on the new house! How fun! I guess I missed WHERE you were going and HOW LONG you were going to be gone. I confess, I've sorta been scanning more than reading and retaining lately. :o Anyway, have a great trip to WHEREVER and I'll see you WHENEVER you get back!

Barbg: Sounds like you'll have your hands full for the next couple of days. Sorry to hear about a death so close to Christmas. They say the death rate really rises around the holidays. It's too bad. Really makes for sad days for so many.

Chris: No Playstation 2's around the Detroit area either. Luckily I have the game, I just needed a new controller, so that was pretty easy to find.

Katrina: Glad you're home from California. How is your FIL? Is his health any better? You must be really busy. I know what a December vacation does to the schedule. Do you have to work the holiday? Questions, questions. I got a million of 'em!

Susie: Stay Out Of The CHOCOLATE COOKIES AND DONUTS!!!!

Mary: When?

CD: Now that classes are over you're busier than you were before! Good job staying OP and exercising even though you're busy with holiday stuff!

Joyce: I'm glad the dentist went well. I have to have a crown in January and the impressions are the WORST!!! * Yes, even raw rum balls count!!! Sorry.

MaryB: thats exactly why you had to be in school until 1 instead of 11 school has to be in session for so many hours before it's considered a day for the counts I'm happy that your neice is coming to live with you sounds like you will really enjoy that I think your daughter is in for a rude awakening having to share all her stuff but she'll get over it soon enough it will be interesting to see how the grandmother/boss works that out I hope there won't be an reprocussions for you at work.

Well, my dears, that is all the news that's fit to print at this end. It snowed overnight here and we have about 6 inches so far and it's still coming down. It's too deep for the trucks to salt, they have to plow. Unfortunately, it takes longer to plow than to salt and so the trucks are not keeping up with the snow. :( But at least we're getting enough that it should stay and make for a white Christmas. :D I still have to head out today. I'm trying to trick my brain into thinking tomorrow is really Christmas and that I have to get everything done by the time I go to bed tonight. That way I can actually relax and enjoy the holiday a little bit. Talk to you later. Love  ya bunches!

Chris: That's the same story (about the Playstation 2) that we heard at nearly every electronics store we visited. It boggles my mind that it is so popular, considering it is slated to be replaced in about a year and a half. On the other hand, there were still a few places that had the brand new Nintendo DS systems. *boggles quietly* Was there a screaming package deal with the Playstation 2 or something?

Hi everyone!!

Hope everyone's holidays are going well... it's nice and cold here in Texas! :o Thought we'd have some snow but no such luck yet... maybe tomorrow the weatherman said, but he's never right anyway.

Finally got all the Xmas presents wrapped and went to bed at almost 1 last night!! :coffee: I need a jump start today. Coming into work extra early tomorrow so I can get about half the day off to start the weekend. Just what I need!

Not been exercising, been a bump on a log except for a couple of evening neighborhood walks with the family and dog. Shopping counts and so does freezing and teeth chattering. I know it must!? But eating fairly well, not too many cheats and getting all of my water in too. But guess what?? So far this week I fit into TWO--TWO--TWO pair of pants that I couldn't squeeze my butt into last winter! *Happy DANCE* I love it!!!

Can't wait for Christmas and can't wait for it to be over, too! It is so stressful and I am the lucky soul who gets to be nurse on call for the building for Christmas. oO(lucky me!)

:) Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!! :)

I am soooo far behind and just can't do replys.

Thin...We did not get but a dusting of snow ... and they don't predict any this year for Christmas now. :( I love a white Christams and I know my daughter would love to have it here when she arrives home.... so I guess Michigan just earned some more brownie points for her. Grrrr
But... we will see how much she loves snow when you guys still have snow for another 5 months once the novelty wears off.

Okay... gotta run. I love you all. Merry Christmas !!!!
