Hey ladies!
I just got done with my second workout of the day ;) I just did my WATP video for 2miles.. so I'm happy to add that to my 1mile on the treadmill. I'm so happy I did it and didn't just let myself off with the excuse "eh, I already worked out today". I really want to start working out twice a day. I'm really really considering walking to work in the morning - it's just I'd have to wake up so early, I'd be sweaty and tired before my day even started... - maybe I will. I had a wrap for lunch and for dinner - filled with romaine lettuce, spinach leaves, sprouts, a teensy bit of shredded cheese, and some soybean bacon bits on top. I've also gotten in another 96oz (12glasses) of water. If you're wondering how this happens -- I have a water bottle thats 1litre/32oz .. and I just chug it constantly ;) Usually getting 2-3 refills of it a day. :dizzy: I tried to weigh myself at my parents' house .. but the scale just says "error". So... still more waiting until I can get a scale :(. I did however tell my mother and sister that for Christmas I want dumb-bells and wrist/ankle weights. Angela - changing habits is definitely wonderful, but I completely understand the want for extreme change :( You just have to stick with going step by step.. Hippy - Welcome to the group! Hope you continue your wonderful success! Kat, Terri, Chris and anyone else - Great work keeping on track! :) I'm happy I can add all my stickers on todays feather too ;p Seeems we're all doing awesome today :D Okay I have two things: In the picture thread, would it be okay to put my "Before" pictures that I talked about? They're really not "before" yet.. but I want to remember them and not forget how I want to change. It seems like the thread has all positive images but these pictures are negative in my view point - So I wasn't sure. Secondly, I'm going to make a thread for "Work Out Music" suggestions - I'm always wanting to add more and more to my playlist so I hope all you gals can contribute :) Okay, I'm off to study or something.. so I hope the rest of you have a great night :) |
Hi guys.... I have a little tip to help you keep track if you posted each day. From now on mark your TURKEY each day. If you are doing the stickers in a vertical line for each feather you can just put a P for Posted under the feather in the brown area of the body. ;) Hope that made sense.
Remember too... you don't have to write a book ... nor do you have to do replies. All that is required is that you do a quick post and check in. Maybe share how you exercised or stayed on your food plan to inspire the rest of us. I also noticed that NO ONE went and checked out the NEW AND IMPROVED RULE for the THREE bonus points on Nov 22. It involves TODAY and each day until then. Maybe I should have posted it here after all. :?: LOL I am so glad that this challenge is helping some of you. It is DEFINITELY helping me. And watching your successes help inspire me to achieve mine. I too got all four of my stickers today. :cp: I am even looking forward to a more strenuous workout next week. :strong: |
I don't know why.. but my computer did not show me the last two posts when I posted a minute ago. Weird.
Tony... thank you for posting about Andria. I am so glad she is doing well and even happier that her problems will be solved now. Please send our love to her. Andria.... GET WELL SOON and hurry back. CD ... Of course you can post your "before" photo. It will be awesome to compare the before and during and after results. As far as "workout music". I am clueless right now. I will have to think about that one. |
GOOD MORNING CHICKIE POOS! Rise and Shine! Its a bright sunny day! I was planning on going out to walk again this morning when Andrew got on the bus...but I don't think my legs will make it right now. They hurt too bad...so I decided that I will go tomorrow morning and today I would do toning exercises and sit ups and that kind of stuff. I have the little hand weights so I can try and tone these bat wings I have!! I also have videos that I love to do too so that will be my plan today.
Now, food, I have devised a system that has been working for me lately. Since I get ugh! 32 points a day I have divided that up to make my 3 meals 8 pts each and two snacks at 4 pts each. I find that when I fill myself at mealtimes then I am less likely to pick at stuff during the day. For breakfast I just ate 2 frozen waffles drizzled with 1 T of syrup (5 pts) and I sliced half a banana (1 pt) on top of them. How pretty it looked. Just like in the magazines. Then I grabbed a yogurt from the fridge (2 pts) and my fizzy flavored water with lots of ice! I am stuffed to the gills. I usually don't use my flex points unless there is something special going on. I save them for things like when I get heavy handed on the nonfat creamer in my coffee, or if I get a little heavy handed on the margerine when I butter my toast. That way I won't be going over my alotted points for little errors. I have made a NON SCALE VICTORY! (NSV) I now throw everything to the dog that is left on Andrew's plate. Waste food, its better than wasting money each week at weight watchers!! I use to eat his crust or his chicken nugget that was left. Yuk Yuk Yuk! Blah! Hippy welcome to our group! Great bunch of caring women! You will NEVER find a group of friends better than here!! OK off to do some school work. This is a new week with new assignments. I'll be back! TTFN Michelle |
Have to get to work. (I could sure get more done if I didn't have to work for a living!!! )
Wanted to welcome hippygoddess. Us Goddess's have to stick together. ;) Also want to thank Tony for posting for Andrea. Glad she will be mending soon. :coffee: **** I swear I just heard a 57 year old women is having her FIRST child!!!!!:yikes: |
Good morning,
I just have time for a quick post. 2Cute, I did go and check the is new post on the Turkey thread yesterday. I am finding keeping up with all of it a bit time consuming. I already had my journal going. Please keep in mind that some of us work, have a long commute, work two jobs, or have kids on top of all that and that getting in here to post daily or read everything is a lot to want of folks. I worked until 7 pm last night and have a very bad work week ahead of me so maybe I'm feeling the stress of that. But I do feel that perhaps that puts me at a disadvantage to someone who has more free time. The concept of all the tracking is great for getting people focused and just feel that its becoming too much pressure to be sure that I post or read everything. I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings or start a fight so don't lynch me, just expressing what I feel by reading the thread this morning. I've got to run as I have to get to work early. Have a good OP day. |
Howdy Ladies,
Well, I had class all day Sat and Sun. I am beat and it will be the same this weekend. I haven't been OP for a while now. But I am trying. I haven't gotten the Turkey yet, maybe today. I haven't posted everyday and I haven't kept track of everything and I haven't journaled and the worst of them all, I hope you are all sitting down for this. I started drinking Coke again. :( I am sooo saddened by this. But I did it before and I can do it again. So today is Tuesday Tips and I have something from Daily Om, that I got today that I am going to post at the end of this. Welcome Hippy to this lovely group. You will enjoy it here. Ummm, am I the only one thinking that one year there should be a spring fling down under? hmmm... Cd, I have music. I will have to post it. I think that is a great idea. Terri, I get the impression that you are having some issues with the dog  However, I wish someone would prod me sometimes when I don't feel like doing anything. :D Andria, Feel Better, glad to hear the surgery went well. You'll be up and at em in no time. Everyone else, Hello How are you all? I miss you gals. Ok here is the Tuesday Tip I promised from Daily Om November 9, 2004 Making Change Trying Something New Everyday Change is good. Change invites us to grow, encouraging us to experience new things, welcome new people into our lives, and ultimately change frees us from the mundane. Many people are not comfortable with change, preferring that every day be much like the rest. There are even people who may be miserable, yet reluctant to change. And, some people are actually afraid of change. Still, regardless if we like it or not, change happens. As Buddha said, "change is the only constant." So, if change is coming, whether we're ready or not, it behooves us to accept change, even embrace it. Changing your relationship to change can greatly enhance your life, opening up new possibilities and challenging you to become a more open minded, interesting, and positive person. To begin accepting and welcoming change in your life, start by expanding your comfort zone and making small daily changes. Here are some ideas to help you get started. * Take a new route to work or school, perhaps even a new mode of transportation; take the bus, carpool, bike, even walk if possible. * Eat new foods. You could try a different food every day; ethnic dishes, a fruit you've never tasted, a new drink. * Everyday, make an effort to talk to a stranger, even if only to say hello. * Wear different kinds of clothes. Try a color you never wear, buy a hat, some fun sunglasses, colorful socks, impractical shoes. * Rearrange the furniture. * Take a class in something you know nothing about; Latin American studies, Butoh, book binding. * Try a new hairstyle; curl or straighten your hair, change your part. * Don't watch TV for a day. * If you drink coffee every morning, try tea, hot cocoa, juice, or hot water. * Shop at a different grocery store. * If you always shower, take a bath. If you always bathe, take a shower. By taking baby steps in creating change in your life you have chosen to take action, and thereby declaring to the universe that you are ready for change. What changes will you make today? |
2cute, I also read the new rules, but didn't feel I need to comment on them. Did you check the number of "views"
I am a happy camper today, if anyone wants to know why they can check out my post in the weigh in thread. Had another good day yesterday, trying to stay focused! http://home.ripway.com/2004-11/20039...bubblefish.gif to Hippy |
Thank you so much to everyone for making me feel so welcome...
I feel so motivated!!! hehe Its 1:30 AM here at the moment so I am going to go to bed, and get up tomorrow to do some deep water walking, even if its in the rain! Ni night! :) Leanne |
This turkey is a great motivator. I don't think it was made to put pressure on anyone, it is just to motivate us to start making changes no matter how small they are. If its just to get your water in for the next few weeks or to start that exercise program we have been procrastinating about, or to come here each day and get support. If we can't do all things thats fine, eventually that will come in time as each little step becomes habit and a part of our daily routine. I for one have procrastinated about the exercise, I haven't had a perfect week yet, but it got me off my rear to start moving again, if I don't one day then no sweat, I will make an effort the next day and the next until it clicks in and becomes part of my routine, then work on the journaling because that DOES help, it keeps us aware of what we are putting in our mouth and how much!! And posting here keeps that all together. Don't feel bad if you don't get 4 feathers each and every day, and if you can't post thats fine too, but when you find yourself waivering with your food etc then get your rears in here for support....adding those feathers to my turkey makes me SEE my efforts and feel that it makes it all worthwhile to continue to TRY and do my best to make this a new lifestyle to keep me losing and to keep me maintaining instead of gaining. So...don't feel pressured to keep up with all the turkey stuff. Just do what you can and watch your progress and see the results! I plan to do the next challenge and the next and eventually this weight will start melting off of me....I can't wait to take pictures as I progress. I have one right now on my bedroom mirror and every morning I look at it and say "Who the heck is that?"
Anyways....do what you can, do the best you can and the rest will fall into place!! I love you guys and look forward to coming here for support as much as possible! TTFN Michelle |
Hi All,
I wanted to catch up with your messages, so I stopped by. I can usually check in on Thurs and Fri as well as the weekend. As Terri said, with work and all it's not always possible to jump in daily. But it's good to read this when I can. Worked out in the pool after work yesterday. I put the suit on before leaving work, dragged my dress over it, then I just limped into the Aquatic Center, sat on a bench by the pool and voila! Left the dress and bag with my towel and phone on the bench, and hopped in! Now this may seem tedious, but I had to save steps due to my knees not wishing to hold me up for that long walk through the obnoxiously hot locker room to change on the wet slippery floor before getting in the pool. It is so hot in there that I am pulling a reluctant suit on a sweating body, and am all frazzled by the time I get out there. This process is working better for me. Also, when I leave there the sun has gone down, and chilly night air has set in. It's a long walk to the parking spot, I keep on saying "it's really worth this discomfort, you will benefit from this" My legs do feel stronger since starting pool therepy. I would like to go more often, but am only near this pool mon-wed, then back home (60 MILES AWAY) for my work-at home days thurs-fri. I am looking for a pool in my area, so far no luck. DH needs to get a winning lotto ticket for a change so we can build that covered pool room out back! So, see you later... Debra |
G'day mates! That was for you, Leanne! Yes, I'm corny. ;) Welcome to our little circle of friends! Congraulations on your loss so far! You can inspire us as much as we can inspire you! WE're all in this together.
Wow! The enthusiasm around here is very motivating! Lots of huffing and puffing and chug a lugging and scribbling and playing with turkey feathers! This game seems to be the shot in the arm that we needed! Thank you, Tony for posting about Andria. Please give her our love and get well soon wishes! I've already had my walk this morning. :cp: As soon as I got in from work. Walked briskly with the dog for 30 minutes....I'm hoping to get to the gym later, but if I don't...I got something done! I think it was cd who mentioned walking to school in the morning! Do it, girl! You won't be tired, you'll be energized! Revs you up for the entire day! Good job, getting TWO exercise sessions in! Oh, and good idea for the music thread! I'll be going back there as I think of more tunes. Skittles...great read, thanks for sharing! BarbG...:cp: :hat: Great example of why we shouldn't rely so much on the scale...If you KNOW that you are doing all that you should be doing...YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE! Good for you!!!!! Whoops, I posted before I was ready to...my chubby little fingers are hitting all the wrong keys...I think I'm ready for bed now...so much for the rest of replies...Hi all, you know I love you! Gotta go pass out now... |
Terri .. {{{HUGS}}}
I certainly never meant for anyone to feel pressured. This is all just for FUN and MOTIVATION. That is one reason I took the time and wrote out how some people can use this as a tool rather than a competition or just a challenge for themselves to improve their own program. I know that MOST people work and have limited time. I know that some people only want to exercise 3 times a week and that is fine too. I only added the BONUS points to help inspire us to stay connected. Since we are an online support group I figured this was a good way. It was not meant to stress or pressure anyone. I did not make it a part of the contest itself because I know people have a life outside of this thread. We can have a "Perfect" Turkey and not post a single time... and that is fine too. I just figured this is an online support group so I thought it would be a cool bonus point. Again.. I certainly never meant to cause anyone stress or pressure. I apologize if I made you or anyone feel pressured over this 'side option'. I hope EVERYONE knows... I am not trying to force anyone to do anything. Please believe me .. it was NEVER my intent. |
Gee .. I almost forgot to write a few replys.
Michelle.. sound like you are really getting your program organized. Feeding leftovers to the dog ... great change in your life. Your dog will love you for it. LOL Mixing up your exercise to help your legs heal rather than doing nothing today. Good job on your food plan too. Lucky... don't work too hard today. Goddesses shouldn't have to work. LOL Terri... no hard feelings hun. Sometimes in my enthusiasm I get carried away. I am glad you expressed your feelings. I will try to keep your concerns in mind for the Dec game. I know we all will be pressured with the xmas holidays. I am such a procrastinator ...hopefully this year I will get it all together sooner. Skittles... hang in there sweetie. It is always the darkest before the dawn. You should get your Turkey any day now. I mailed it Fri or Sat. I liked the article you posted. Barbg... CONGRATULATIONS !!!!! :cp: I would be posting it in every thread. :D You are definitely getting it done. I sure do enjoy all of your pics. Leanne... I need to get back into a pool and do some of that deep water walking. I love working out in the pool. It makes me feel more normal. Michelle... glad to know I have a contest partner for the next few months. OA and AA suggests 90 meetings in 90 days. We can accomplish that thru our little games each month. We will be winners at losing. :D Debra/dgrizzle... we are happy to have you when we can get you. :) I too like to be dressed an ready to swim and not have to walk through those hot steamy locker rooms. Changing clothes is a MAJOR effort for me in locker rooms. I am changing pools this year. The newest pool around here....you have to walk a MILE to get to it. My knees just can't handle that. I know it is a hassle... but YES it is worth it. Kat... you are awesome. Getting in your exercise before going to bed. Thanks for sharing your accomplishments... it inspires us to get out there and do it too. Yes... this silly Turkey thing is helping a lot of us. :D Okay... I am sure by the time I post this... someone will have jumped in and posted. I am not going to go back and add more replies. LOL Just know.. I love all of you. Tuesday Tip.... Practice Makes Progress Good is good enough. DO WHATEVER IT TAKES |
****WARNING: LURKER ALERT**** Sandy who???? I have been lurking for days now, and little things have been happening in my life reminding me of you all and this wonderful board. The other day I was at Subway and saw a sign that said they had been inspected by a "SECRET SHOPPER" and I instinctivly though of THIN. I opened up my e-mail yesterday and somehow a post got forwarded to my e-mail from the thread, and I was like OMG is that a sign or what? :dunno: I don't know, but it has brought me back to you. I hope it's okay to just jump right on in. I have always kept this in my favorites too, I think deep down I knew I needed to be here, I knew I would be back.I have started this post over and over again and have my fingers hovering over the keys. I have deleted every word and started again and again. What do I do? Please forgive me for just leaving before. I know I didn't come back, I know it was wrong of me, I know I was blinded by the light....I know more than I need to write here about all that has happened in a 1/2 a years time, or maybe more? I see you are all doing very well and I am happy. It is so upbeat. I see many new faces too, and see many old ones are missing/like me. But, they too may find their way back someday. Now, do I hit post or delete? :?: I think I will hit post and hope for the best. Hugs to you all dear friends. |
