Hey everyone!@ Its been a long time, I've had a horrible time trying to stay on track - and I finally worked out today, and I've been drinking more water - I'm trying to so hard to stay on track. I always work out one day and get so excited, but then the next day I just can't find the motivation to work out yet again.
Well I'm going to do it this time. Do any of you try to focus more on breathing deeper - holding your abs in? I feel it helps me concentrate more on recognizing that I need to lose weight and keeping my posture better. |
Hiya
Hi ladies,
Quick email as I'm off to dinner out with a friend. First of all, thanks Andria, glad you liked my bio. :) I enjoyed reading everyone else's as well. Skittles... Oh boy, the evil specter of x-rated sites on the internet and hubbies perusing them. :rollpin:  It seems to be a common phenomenon observed in otherwise mostly sane and happily married men that they feel drawn to these sites. Personally, I feel as long as they look, don't touch, don't do it everyday and aren't obsessed by it, it's fairly harmless as long as open communication can remain about it. It can be loosely compared to Playboy reading. Men are by and large visual creatures and images reach their occasionally Neanderthal brains more easily than anything else. Monogamy goes against everything wired into the Neanderthal male brain, given they had to increase the population quickly in the ice ages. Bottom line, Skit...if it bothers you enough to mention it in here and ask our opinions, it is most likely bothering you enough to be honest with hubby and have a heart to heart with him. Just a little word of advice, for what it's worth: Don't accuse/blame or give ultimatums. Try to approach the topic neutrally...get his input as to why he is drawn to them, then be honest and ask him to try to understand why his visiting might bother you. Then, go from there. Hope this helps! I know it's not a black/white issue and everyone has strong feelings about it. Have a great evening everyone! TTFN |
Chris, really good advice that could be applied to many situations. :)

Excellent Chris!!!!!
(I couldn't have said it better myself.) ;) |
Hi Girls!!!
Another quickie post from me...I am trying to wrap up some work, pack, get organized, visit hubby, etc....I have a busy day at work tomorrow and I leave from work for the airport. I am thinking of you all and hoping you are all strong and happy! ;) I will be checking in from the road - assuming my dial-in cooperates. Lisa and Lucky ---- I will see you :hot: chicks on Saturday morning in the Ikea parking lot. I'll be the one driving around aimlessly in an Avis rental car. Big Hugs and Hello to all of you..Talk to you soon. Barb :grouphug: |
Chris - Well said!!
CD - I try to hold in my abs whenever I'm walking and/or exercising on my "machine." Yes, it helps focus, but most importantly I think it helps strengthen them, too. Skit - I have nothing to add to Chris' post. She said it ALL!!!!!!! BarbPA & Lucky - looking foward to Saturday! Lucky - is it as butt cold there as it is here?!?!?!?! BarbPA - where are you guys going gambling? I worked my 2nd full day of work in almost a year - it was nice! Yup, 2cute I'm the dreaded insurance salesPERSON and lovin' every minute of it! Gotta run - was church night and I haven't seen my boy for more than about 45 minutes since this morning. I have tomorrow of so I'll be back often checking up on y'all. I better find some more posts! G'night all! |
Hi all!
Just stopping by. My back has still been giving me fitts. Not as bad as before I ditched my desk chair, but still bothersome. I'm beginning to think maybe kidney infection. No pain peeing, but then that didn't happen the last time I had one either. Although it's not strong smelling either. Don't you love it when people self diagnose themselves??? Where's my resident medical personal when I need them? Kat? My other problem is getting better. Only four trips to the "john" after breakfast and so far no trips since dinner. Of course it will probably hit me in the middle of the night! :o BarbPA: Have a safe trip! 2cute: Now that you're already on the road can I tell you that the weather forcast today said "maybe snow" for Friday night or Saturday morning? :s: *evil laughter* All the rest of you behave yourselves. I really do miss getting in here and writing and replying properly. Please bear with me until I feel better. I got a phone call this afternoon from the investigator on the sleazy teacher case. (those of you who've been around awhile might recall, if not, and there's interest, I will catch you up) Anyway, it appears that the case will go to trial starting November 16th AND they are going to want to call me as a witness! I knew it was coming, but it still shakes me a little bit. Besides, I told them that they better not screw with my Vegas trip or I would really be ticked! We'll see what happens. Gotta run. My house is not prepared for a 2cute siting in Saturday and I have not been in any shape to get it prepared. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get something done around here, only one little job to do up at the corner K-Mart. You all take care. Don't forget, only 2 more days til Challenge ends. Are we going to make it??? We're down to the home stretch. Make this your BEST two days!!! Love  ya bunches. |
Awwww....shucks
Golly Gee Whiz...
Thanks y'all so much for your feedback! Just doin' my job, ma'ams...helpin' souls in need. ;) I love helping others feel better and try to see their troubles from all angles. Hmmmm...maybe I'm in the wrong career... Having said that, I'm off to bed. Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow. And Skittles...smile sweetie!!! :grouphug: |
I must agree with all, that was mighty good advice there, Chris! You can't beat plain old honesty any time. Just ask. He's your husband. I guess it would depend upon what exactly he's looking at...but couldn't it just be considered the modern day perusal of Playboy? Talk to your honey, Skit...always keep those lines of communication open.
My 2 cents, for what it's worth. Okay, who's next? Thin? :chin: hmmmm...back pain....back pain....let me see...Are you drinking a lot of water, in case it is a kidney infection? That would help to flush things out. Do anti-inflammatories help? Ooh...try this! Check out www.webmd.com. They have a back/neck pain questionaire designed to narrow down the reasons for your pain. I'll send you my bill. Have a nice day! Anyone else? Step right up! I'm very jealous of the meetings taking place this weekend! Have fun girls, take pictures and give us the full report!!! I have to go wake the boy. See you all later... |
I have to report in a day early - I MADE IT - down 2 lbs.
Once again I have to thank Terri for her GREAT idea!!!! YES, Lisa it is cold here too - I can't decide what to pack!!!! :dizzy: Have a good day. :coffee: |
I posted this on a thread that was closed before I realized, so here it is again...
2cute, The PT at rehab has me in the pool doing leg extensions for as long as I can, on e leg, then the other. Then hang on to the side and bend the legs up and down, one at a time. Then with your back to the pool wall, rest your arms on the wall and swing your legs to the side on leg at a time. Then he tosses a noodle in, and I hang on that and do bicycle like movements in the water. It's low impact and you can do it for awhile with no pain. The idea is to help your upper muscles support your knees better. Hope it helps! Debra |
Lucky, congratulations!!! You have been doing so well on the challenges! Terri should get a huge chunk of credit, but ultimately, you have to own the weight loss all by yourself. :) Take it! :bravo:

Hello ladies - I tell you, I had a nice post all typed and ready to go early this morning. Well, I hit the submit button and it disappeared! Grrr!
It's cloudy and cold here today - I wanted to hang some clothes out on the line, looked like it was going to be sunny today - but now it's not. Soooo in the dryer they go! :dizzy: Yesterday was my 2nd full day of work in almost a year! Well, almost a full day, I work 9:00 - 4:30, my mom calls 'em "bankers hours." Whatever. Isaac is doing wonderful at daycare - I'm so glad. Tuesday he went in and disappeared with the kids before I could even kiss him good-bye. Yesterday, I got it while walking up to the door  - smart mommy  ;) Thin - glad to hear that you're feeling a little better. Hi to all other lurkers & posters. Time to go make lunch for the boys. Be back later! |
I wanted to work out for a second time last night but I was so tired :( I usually can't get to sleep before 2-3am but yesterday I went to bed around 10:30pm. Thats the earliest I've gone to bed in years! I think I might have strept throat :stress: and I'm about to go home to mommy to see what she thinks. I heard that strept was going around the office.
I will try to work out tonight though. I'm trying to get it done earlier in the day (sans work days) so that way if I have the energy to do it twice, I can.. if not then at least I already did it once. Does anyone know if you can post a link to another website in your signature? Id like to have a link to my journal on the site http://www.livejournal.com . I tried the journals here but the system at lj I'm very used to and I find I'm more willing to write. I want to start writing EVERY single feeling and thought I have about being overweight and weightloss. I'd like others to be able to witness it as well. Thankful Thursday eh? Well I've had my mother on my mind a lot lately, and I'm so thankful for her. I had a dream a while back where I was really scared and my mom was there for me - when I woke up and realized that I'm a "grown up" now and my mom was 30+minutes away - I felt so sad. Really makes you realize how important such simple things are - and how wonderful moms are. I just want those of you who are mommies - to realize that despite what your child treats you like, despite the hard times, lack of calls - whatever it is.. they do love you and need you. I love my mom more than anything and we've been through so many rough times - times when I'm sure she thought I hated her.. but now that I've moved out I've realized just how much I need her. Sorry, I'll stop ranting now :P Just being at work leaves for bored rambling! :^: |
