Good morning chickletts :coffee:
It was cool enough here last night to sleep with the windows open.
We are slowly starting to pack. Have to go visit my mother at the nursing home today.
My cousin in Mossouri(sp) died yesterday he had esophegial cancer found it last week died this week :( .
I better get something to eat before I dry up and blow away :D

Have a great day

Terri in MO 08-07-2004 09:28 AM

I'm going to make another attempt at getting caught up. It may take a few posts today. :)

Scooter, you asked about Ginger. She is improving. She still has a ways to go as the farrier cut a hole in the bottom of her hoof so the abcess could drain. We've been soaking her foot in epsom salt and warm water. She is becoming less tolerant so I take that as a good sign. We also have to bandage the hoof to keep it clean. But her spirit it great.

Thin, you asked about Grizzlefart and his side of the story. He is an old, weathered cowboy who does things his way. The kids are what he calls, 'book educated' not life educated. They don't see eye-to-eye. He's said that the kids have demanded things be their way and have threatened several times to move their horses. They finally decided to leave their horses for the time being, "to see if things improve" but are no longer barn managers. In my opinion, both sides are wrong. However, I feel the kids are more wrong because Grizzle is the boss. As most of us have learned, the boss gets to do things their way; you can make suggestions; they can listen or not; and its your choice to live with it or not. They are most at fault for all the tension and unrest because they do not have the business skills to work things out. The art of negotiation. Which is funny because two of the three are salespeople. But, we've dealt with him on a business level and he's responded well. He's willing to listen and discuss. We've also had a stern conversation about how while he views horses as working tools, people who board them see them as parts of the family. He is obnoxious. He thinks he's funny. But we just chuckle and go on. The girls just get pissed off. I've told both of them that if they can't let it go; then maybe they should move their horses because its not good for anybody. But they should just get over it; leave their horses; and come out and enjoy them. When he and I went on that trail ride and had gotten back, he told my DH that we were so far back in the weeds that DH would never have been able to find us to see what we were doing. I about fell off the horse when he said that. He's harmless.

Okay, so the week has been totally filled with getting the horses taken care of and helping Ginger. Its been a lot of work and going to be that way. Hopefully we can start getting into a routine this week where we're not out there for 2 hours every single night. Maybe even where we can take turns. We have been going over each night to put them out on grass for awhile and to get some exercise; give the hay for the night and water, etc. One night, they were so happy to be out that they ran away from me. Brat girls. Tanyah took off into the back pasture and Ginger did too. Her foot was feeling pretty good then. I had to get grain and walk back in after them. I've been trying to work Tanyah in the riding arena on a lunge rope. She pins her ears back and bucks when I snap the whip right behind her butt. Better to buck then as opposed to me being on her back.

Last night, I did take Tanyah for my first solo ride. I rode across the road into the big bean field that is part of the county park. It was pretty good. Ginger does not do well going off on her own so I was a little anxious to see how Tanyah does. Now I can ride for 30-45 minutes on my own and get out of the arena. But I won't ride down into the woods by myself. With 5000 acres, if something happened to me, no one would know where to find me. But DH and I have walkie talkies that will work out in the big field. It was such a beautiful night. I always love it when I see deer out too.

I did have to have a little talk with DH about how its not appropriate for him to stand around b.s'ing with Grizzle and Grizzle's sidekick, Kevin, while I was running around doing all the physical work. It would be in his best interest to find something to help me then he can talk. Men = DUH!

Today, I'm spending most of the day at the house. I have so much cleaning to do and just want to have time at home. This afternoon, I have to go over and clean stalls plus go with the barn girls to pick up some hay. I won't have trouble getting in moderate activity. So, Dr. Phil..... :p

I did finally post a couple of pictures of Tanyah on the picture thread.

No, I did not get up and ride my bike this morning. DH was awake at 4:15 am and seemed to think it was okay to wake me up too. He finally got up to go watch TV but then I had trouble going back to sleep until after 5. We've been out to breakfast. I'm all out of whack because I'd like to go back to sleep but have stuff to do. I'm not sitting here like a slug though.

A few more replies:

BarbPA - I'm so happy that you got that second opinion! I know you're off on vacation and hope you're having a great time.

Lisa - The camping trip sounds like a blast. Its amazing how little trips like that are so empowering. Something about being off on your own and taking care of yourself. Very validating as well.

Kat - Are you bike riding? Swimming dates with the DH? I need a kick in the butt because I'm still maintaining. I'm ready to drop down into the 240's so I need to crack down.

Mary - I'm sorry to see about your cousin.

I'm outta here for awhile.

TA TA!

thinthinker 08-07-2004 11:27 AM

Morning, ladies! Just a quick peek in before I run off to be a "showgirl" again.

Went up and did some trailer checks yesterday and stayed to see Little Black Book with Brittany Murphy. It was really pretty good. Didn't end the way I expected which was really kind of refreshing.

Today I have to do trailers for Collateral with Tom Cruise. I'm looking forward to staying and watching that too.

Terri: I'm so glad for you that Ginger is doing so much better. It sounds like you are one busy lady running to the barn every night AND working AND trying to have a life other than work and horses! Geez, woman! You gotta take a breath.

Mary: So sorry to hear about your cousin. Sincerest Sympathies. [[[hugs]]]

Mom is "feeling her oats"! She decided that she HAD to get a birthday card to the post office yesterday couldn't wait, ya know so she drove herself. Guess she's feeling better. duh! What she won't get through her head is that she is probably not allowed to drive because of all the medication that she's on.

Oh well, Honey just came in and we're off to the show. See you all later. Love  ya bunches!

katrinabgood 08-07-2004 12:21 PM

Hi all...

Hi all!

Wow, did I sleep late! Just got up at 10:50...I have to get moving, but I wanted to pop in here first. I feel like I haven't been here much lately. I guess getting back into the swing of things at work, and not sleeping at night after so many blissful nights of sleep, has sufficiently scrambled my brains back to their usual befuddled state!

Terri...Glad I could roust you out of the barn! I love your horse stories and am so envious of your being able to 'gallop off into the sunset', (or, at least into the weeds with ol' Grizzlefart!) Of course, all the hard work that goes along with keeping horses doesn't appeal to me at all, so I shall ride vicariously through your stories...keep 'em coming, girl! I haven't ridden my bike since we came home, but the weather is perfect for it today...once I get a few things done around here, I'll be a pedalin'!

Thin...OOH! Collateral! Can't wait for your review! Can't wait to see it! Love Tom Cruise!! Did you see I, Robot? We saw it in Maine. Missed about the first 20 minutes because the dork usher sent us into the wrong theater...whatever...It was very good! In a summer blockbuster-y kind of way! I'm glad Mom is feeling frisky! That means she's better. Gotta admire the elderly that don't want to sink into an apathetic, whining, 'poor me' existence...like my in laws...

Mary, Sorry about your cousin. Enjoy your trip to Michigan. Sure won't be the same without meeting our Miss Thin! :(

ANDRIA!! HOORAY FOR YOU!!! You must be on :cloud9:!!! What a psychological boost it is to see those numbers go down, especially into "2-terville!" Good for you! Are you leading the challenge at Curves? Your winnings can buy you some nice new smaller clothes! :cp: Have a great vacation!

Welcome back, BarbG, Scooter and anyone else who's been away!

BarbPA...I hope you're winning big in AC! We still have to arrange a girls outing there one of these days...MICHELLE, where the heck are you?

Hi to everyone else...

I'm out of time again...lots to do today...gotta run!

BarbPA 08-07-2004 03:41 PM

Hi Ladies!
We are back from our mini-vacation! :D Had a blast. Lost lots of money, but had a wonderful time. On Thursday night we stayed at Trump Marina - we had a suite with a huge jacuzzi bath. When we got there we picked up dinner at Hooters and took it to our room to watch Big Brother! Then we played some Blackjack and I went to the room early for a soak in the tub while hubby lost $$. :) :( We slept late on Friday and had lunch and gambled a little at the Showboat and then went to check in at Bally's for Friday night. We took a walk on the boardwalk --- you could not have asked for a better day - it was beautiful  Actually we didn't end up walking as much as I'd hoped because we stopped off at a bar on the beach and had drinks and listened to music. Then it was back to the room to change for David Copperfield! :wizard: What an AMAZING show!!! If you have never seen him, I would highly recommend it!!!! And, as if the show wasn't good enough, I ended up on stage with a group of people for the finale of the show --- he made about 15 of us disappear!! Then we got to meet him back stage, shake his hand and got and autographed picture. It was a blast!!! After that we had a late dinner at Johnny Rockets :burger: -- outside on the board walk! It was such a nice evening. Today we got up for breakfast, won back a little bit of $$ and headed home. Picked up the dogs, Jeff went into work for a while and I am sitting here exhuasted. I slept horrible at both places. So happy to be back in my own bed tonight!!!

Anyway, there is my update!!! I hope you are all having a great weekend!!! Tomorrow I am going into Philly to meet up with a group of women that I met on a fertility message board. Should be fun. :)

Kat - I am up for an AC get together anytime. Michelle - we have to do it before you move!!!

I'll be back later or tomorrow with personals. I have to rest a bit and then want to get some exercise in today!!

Love to all!
;)

LuckyLadyBug 08-07-2004 06:02 PM

I still wonder what is wrong with me!!! I walked 2 miles last night and 4 miles this morning. It felt so good to know I did it. My shins hurt a little if I sit for awhile and then get up but I will make it!!!

Are any of you still going to Curves? Can you give me some insight into what the deal is there? Can you ONLY exercise 20 min? I mean once you do it for awhile you must need more???? I saw they opened a Curves 6 miles from me and it has a Summer specail!!!! :D I am thinking of calling them on Monday for the particulars.

BarbG: Glad your laptop was a minor repair.

Thin: I don't know what to say to you. It seems too odd to discuss exercise with you. Next you will have to add a room onto the house for your pilates room!

Terri: Thanks for the pictures. They are all very beautiful.

BarbPA: Oh for fun - getting to disappear. I suppose you can't tell us how he did it? ;)

Terri in MO 08-07-2004 06:30 PM

Wow, we've only had six days of over 90 degrees heat this summer. No days near 100. That's actual temps not heat index. It was a gorgeous day today. I did get up and get a few projects and house tasks done. We just got back from the barn. I cleaned both stalls completely and put in new bedding. I opted not to go get hay with the barn girls because it turned out to be one, her fiance and his 18 yo sister. Considering that she walks right by us and does not reply when we speak to her....no thank you. I told DH that I wasn't going to be the old, fat lady riding in the back seat with the 18 yo who refuses to talk.

Lucky - I'm so proud of you for exercising! That's a lot of walking. Have you gotten the new green ball yet? Thin and Andria would be the Curves experts. I've heard good things about it.

Barb - Welcome back! Sounds like a fabulous time. DH and I have got to get out of here and have some fun somewhere.

I'm off to relax for a bit.

BarbPA 08-07-2004 06:51 PM

Lucky --- :ziplip: :tape: :ziplip: :tape: :ziplip: :tape:
Great job on the walking!!!

katrinabgood 08-07-2004 07:09 PM

Curves...

Lucky, I say "Go for it!" It is an easy, fast, fun workout. I used to belong and I really enjoyed going...but I also belong to the gym and didn't want to pay for both. Is it convenient for you to get to? On the way home from work or at least close enough to home that you will get there? Check out their hours before you sign up. I know the ones around here are only open during "peak hours," like 9-12:00 and 4-8:00. If the hours are not convenient for you, it may not be worth it. But it is definitely worth looking into. AND...BY THE WAY...:cp: :cp: :cp: Look at you! All this exercise! You and Thin exercising. Imagine that! I'm so proud!

Barb...AC sounds like it was a blast! Just what you guys needed...a little R&R! So? Are you going to tell us how the disappearing trick was done? :wizard:

Question....Does anybody here have (or know of anyone who has) Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? I swear I have it...my right arm is killing me and has been for quite some time. From the elbow to the wrist. I don't know if I should see an orthopedist, a chiropractor, an accupuncturist or what. I guess I should read up on it, huh?

So, tonight I have several options. I'm not working. Dh is. Daughter is. Son is not. I can finish reading my book. The Stand by Stephen King...love it. I can work on my scrapbook with the Maine pictures. (I swore it would be done by now) I can work on the blanket that I started crocheting two years ago. (I started it the last time we went to Maine .) Or I can veg on the couch with my son and watch "Larry the Cable Guy" and "South Park" with my sonny boy. (High end stuff there)
Decisions, decisions...

I'm off to ride my bike first. I swore that I would do that today and I haven't yet. So here I go....

I can't be NOT exercising if Lucky IS!

ageoldie 08-07-2004 10:01 PM

Life is strange. My mother started a job today. She is going to working for Kohls. It's close to the house, and she will just be working part time, and she's really excited about it. Of course at 76 y/old, I'm not sure she can hold up to it for long, but she thinks she can. Also I think I told you a month or so ago that my sister who had the perfect job got fired. Well, we decided that we are going to hire her and she is going to be taking over the accounting functions that I've been trying to do. It is such a relief for me. I was in over my head, and I knew it, but I didn't know of a way out. This will work out for everyone. Sure will cut down on the stress level for me.

Today we had to go to a fundraiser luncheon meeting for a church related organization that my DH is a trustee for. It was really boring, and the food was terrible, but we got through it! Afterward we stopped at the health club and worked out for about 45 minutes. That's 2 Saturdays in a row that I have gotten in a workout. I went back to my wellness clinic Thursday. i am about to get back into a regular routine again. It was hard because we got home on Friday afternoon and on Monday morning my BIL had surgery so I spent Monday & Tuesday mornings at the hospital. He got to go home last night so hopefully he's going to be okay.

BarbPA: we spent out time at the Trumps Taj Mahail(sp).

Thin, I can't wait until you get good on the Pilates machine. When we come up there for Spring Fling II, can I try it?

Terri: I can't imagine having a horse or anything that took so much of my time. You must really be dedicated to them.

Lisa: glad you had fun on your camping trip.

Mary; yes I know how men can be, we were just in PA and I could have tried to get together with BarbPA, but I knew that it would just be a problem, trying to coordinate schedules, so I didn't mention it.

Kat, are you having as much trouble getting back in routine as I am? And, no I really don't know anyone who has CTS, but they say it's very painful.

Lucky, Everyone I know say Curves is great. I'm with Kat, at least check it out. I am so proud of you and Thin for starting an exercise program. Even though I still struggle to lose weight, I know that without my exercise I would probally be bedridden. I feel so much better when I exercise regularly. It should really help with your Fibro pain.

Okay, I've rambled enough, hope everyone has a great Sunday.

2cute2Bfat 08-07-2004 10:42 PM

HIP HIP HOORAY !!!! My daughter took my computer apart and bought me a new modem for my computer and I am up and running again. :cp: My printer/copier/fax machine was still under warranty so they are mailing me a new printer. The modem was out on it too. That storm did a number on my computer stuff. New modem is a whole lot cheaper than a new computer. She had never done this before... but she is a go-getter so she just took it apart since it wasn't working anyway. LOL

Although I do have my computer back FINALLY ... I still don't want to miss a single moment with my daughter before she moves thousands of miles from me. Thinthinker will get to see more of her than me. But I could not ask for a better second mom for her when she is so far from home.

There is so many things I want to say to so many people ....
Please know I care about each and every one of you.
I will be back on a regular basis about Aug 16th

LuckyLadyBug 08-07-2004 10:51 PM

Kat: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, well, all I know is of the six people I know that had it & had surgery, ALL SIX said they would never have had the surgery if they knew the result. It didn't help any of them at all - just cost more money and they had the additional pain after the surgery. I know it's from repetitive motion - SO QUIT DOING THAT!!!! I know, easier said than done. That's my 2 cents. (are you on the couch???)

One of the things that worries me about Curves is my fibro. I used to go to aerobics and lift weights BEFORE I had fibro. Once I had it any strain on my muscles just made me go into a huge flare with extreme pain - more than what automatically comes with fibro. However, for some reasin I have decided it should be okay now - :dizzy:  First step is checking out their price and availability. Then I will see, but I sure would like to use those machines they have. I have lost all of the strength in my upper body over the last few years - I miss it!! :(

BarbG: I LOVE the story about your Mom - it keeps me hopeful that I can be active at that age.

Quote:

Thin, I can't wait until you get good on the Pilates machine. When we come up there for Spring Fling II, can I try it?
I knew SOMEONE would start trouble!!!! If one does it, we all will.

Well, off to bed - hopefully will get another 4 miles in in the morning.

Night, :kickcan:

carpel tunnel

kat i have had carpel tunnel. had surgery on my right wrist turned out very good and it is now easier than when i had it about 10 yrs, ago. i now have it in the left. i wear a brace on my wrist at nite and that really help. another way to know if you have it. your thumb first finger middle finger and 1/2 your ring finger will go numb. best to check with dr,
hi to every one!! pat

Arabella 08-08-2004 10:08 AM

Fly-by lurker post -- Kat, I used to work as a waitress and found when I had symptoms that vitamin B6 worked wonders. Never failed. One of my sisters who had carpal tunnel syndrome quite severely also found it very effective when she took it faithfully. There are those who say you need to take a B-complex rather than any single B vitamin to avoid imbalances. You should be able to find more info, but that was my experience. Good luck!

LuckyLadyBug 08-08-2004 11:31 AM

Yippee - 4 miles done for today.

BUT I have a blister :( Any good advice on how to make it feel better?

Terri in MO 08-08-2004 11:56 AM

:bravo: Lucky! Is this country walking or around town? You're :smoking:

2Cute - Woohoo for the girl! Have a great week with her. We'll look forward to seeing more of you after the 16th. Hey, still coming to the KC area in September?

Pat - Good to see you checking in too. Has your sis moved to Springfield yet? Is she enjoying it, if so?

I'm off to being as active as I can today. I'm limiting time spent at the barn and was hoping for boating today but no such luck as its going to be a sort of rainy day.

Who are the scrapbooking gals? I've bought my first scrapbook and a few tools. I want to make books of special events. Without going insane (read....expensive). Plus I'm not wildly creative. Do you write captions directly on the page or do you do them on the computer and attach? Or do you do captions on the digital pic then print? I think it was BarbPA who uses "Picture It"? Any hints on how to get started? I want to make a 3FC book with pictures from here and from the Spring Fling; a book of my trip to NYC; etc.

LuckyLadyBug 08-08-2004 02:06 PM

Country walking on tar!!! I don't like to go off the road when I am alone - too many critters - and WAY too many skunks this year!!!! :tape:

Terri, thanks for asking about scrap booking !!! I was just sorting through some papers and thinking I should start doing that will all the family geneology stuff and pictures of all of us. I just feel too overwhelmed to start and don't want to spend a ton of money either.

LISA!!!! We are calling your name...HELP!!!!!!

ljs1223 08-08-2004 03:14 PM

Hey chickies - this is my 2nd time typing this reply. I had one almost done and it was, oh so nice, when I LOST IT!!

So, my days have been filled with cleaning up camping mess, and water mess from when I was gone. Friday I was Mrs. HearMeRoar again when I pulled up the carpet and baseboard in my bedroom. Doesn't stink in there now. Dh painted it after it dried out more with Kilz. Yesterday we went to Menards to get new sheet rock, well the dummies, they keep it outside and it was damp. Wasn't wet wet, but still damp enough that we don't want to put it in the house. So, now we have to wait 'til he can get to a Home Depot to get stuff that's actually kept inside. Then we can get that up and recarpet. Today has been spent cleaning and baking. Now I have some quiet time to myself.

Thin - How was Collateral? I'm thinking of going to see that this afternoon. And I'm so glad that your mom is on the mend. Sure takes a heap of stress of you to have her getting better so quickly!

Terri - So, what's up that girls butt? Did ya tell her to remove it!? I'm with you, though I wouldn't have ridden along either!

Lucky - :bravo: :cb: :cheer: Way to go on the walking - send some of that energy on up here, would ya?! I hear ya about the skunks on the road. We had on in our live trap and I woke up to that smell the other day - YUCK! We have a Curves here in town, but they have really stupid hours. They're not open at all when I have time to go. So . . . I'm not impressed with the one here. I'm sure that they're not all like that, though.

Pat - Hi!

Barb G - Glad to hear that your work load will be less stressful. That's always such a relief. And food at a church function - isn't it supposed to be GOOD?! What's up with that?!

BarbPA - Glad you and hubby had a nice getaway. Did you ask the magician if he has a trick to make body fat disappear too? Anyway, glad you had fun!

Kat - I thought that Saturdays were for sleeping late?! I don't know about Carpal Tunnel, but I had Tendonitis in my right arm and it hurt from my wrist to my elbow - anytime I would move it. It was from the repititious movements I had to do on a job. Once I quit it went away. So . . .

2Cute - What a woman - your daughter is! A MsHearMeRoar it sounds like!

Okay now for scrapping - I have my table set up in my living room so that I can keep an eye on my kids and watch tv etc with them if they want me too. As far as starting a project, I go by starting on the most recent one first. That way you have the freshest things in your head when you're doing it. For captioning I have done it several ways. You can write it, use stickers, cut outs, printing from computer or any other thing that you want. It all depends on what you're in the mood for and how it's going to look on your page.

Terri - I'm not overly creative either and my books have turned out pretty good, I think. I just follow some of the examples that come with the stickers and papers that I've purchased. There's also books that you can buy with ideas, though I haven't bought any myself. I just tailor the idea to my page and go from there. There are also a ton of websites with ideas that you can look at. Some are free, some aren't. Also, if ya really want look for a consultant in your area that does workshops. My sister holds scrap workshops at her house and we go scrap for hours. And, it's not just Creative Memories that does things like that. A lot of the scrapping stores will hold those things too. One thing I know is that it's an addiction for me. Once I start I can't stop!

Gotta run - dh is digging out more in the egress window and I need to get him something to drink.

Love to all!

Skittles 08-08-2004 04:16 PM

Hello's and stuff

Well hello all.

I have finally gotten to read all the posts from the past few days and catch up. Ugh. My sweetie has been off for the last couple of days and has taken me out everyday. He is trying to help me get back my energy. But I tell ya, I was pooped everyday.
Tomorrow is the day that the staples come out. YEAY!!!! :cb: :cp:  :flow1: :flow2: :hyper: :cheer:
I am a happy person.
I should get to go back to work on Tuesday. I tried earlier this week but I never realized how much I get up and down and work. And it wasn't a good idea.
I will be asking the doctor tomorrow if it is ok to start my diet. I am doing the Michael Thurmond 6 week makeover. The only thing I don't like about this is the fact that you can't have dairy. :moo: Now I live in the cheese state, for me not to have cheese, milk, icecream, sour cream, butter, yogurt, etc, will probably be harder then me not having candy. :m:

Skittles 08-08-2004 04:34 PM

Ok so I pressed enter before I was finished. :censored: Such as life. Anyway, it says that you should take a multi-vitamin, which will be hard as they usually make me nauseaus. And it says you should take some Calcium Citrate. Which I will do no matter what. And I'm suppose to drink 100 ounces of water a day. That is how I am going to be losing the weight, I won't have time to eat, I will be busy running to the bathroom to pee. I have to eat 5-6 times a day, and looking at the setup it is pretty good, but man, it is going to be tough to measure out the food. I hate taking time to do all of that. And I am hoping to get the ok from the doc to start exercising. However, I am afraid also, cause I don't want to rip my abdomen open. So I know I am going to be very leery of everything I do. Right now I just want to go swimming.

Lucky, I don't really know how to get rid of blisters other then popping them. My husband does that every time he burns himself at work. He says it heals faster. I do know that to prevent them you should tape the spots prone to get blisters or that may be rubbing for a while with duct tape. That stuff is good for anything. It will stay in place better then a band aid, and won't really fall off if you sweat like a band aid would. I read that in a book some where. I am going to try it with my renfaire shoes this year.

Thin, I can't believe how big your machine is. At least it is not like those original pilates contraptions that looked like torture devices, where you needed someone to help you. You hung from your arms and legs and stuff, Madonna use to do that. I wish you luck with it though, let me know how it goes. So I can decide whether to buy one or not. I have the Mari Windsor pilates dvd, oh gosh, that is hard.

When is this Spring Fling II? How long does it last? Do I have to dance? Do I have to bring a date?

Well I am off I have some writing homework I need to get done. :write:

Busy day today. Boring day today. Housecleaning, laundry, trash to go out. All those things that have to be done that I hate to do. On top of that the puppy pulled apart 15' of 4" PVC drain pipe and knawed on the end that fits inside the next section. Now I can't get to to fit together the way it should. :p Thank God for duct tape!!!!!

Today is the best day I've had all week. I've controlled my chocolate urge and been able to prepare meals with normal size portions, eat slow and feel full. Now if I can just get thru tonight I'll be able to feel good about myself in the morning. Who knows, I may even get on the scale. Maybe. :o

SKITTLES: Glad you're beginning to feel better. I know what you mean about dairy. I'm always looking for excuses to eat butter. No dairy + no carbs =No Judy :(

LISA: I sure don't envy you having to redo your room. The thought terrifies me.

LUCKY: WOW, you really are getting into walking. :D I'm proud of you. I was driving, a couple of miles from home, last week and saw a raccoon that looked really bad crossing the road. (Rabies???) There was a young woman power walking in that direction so I pulled over and told her where I'd seen the critter so she could cross the road and walk FAST when she got near that spot.

KAT:I work with someone that just had carpel tunnel surgery done on both wrists. She whines as much now as she did before but now it's about how the Dr. screwed up rather than how her wrists hurt. Don't know how she got CTS as she never worked long, or hard enough at the job for her work to be called repetitive. (I'm being catty .... I can't help it.) ;)

BarbG: Glad you SIL was able to step into the job and help out. Sounds like a good deal for both of you.

Darn, gotta run.
Hi to everyone I missed. I'm reading the posts but time just seems to fly.

ljs1223 08-08-2004 07:18 PM

I must be having a brain fart . . . .

HELP! :dizzy: :(

BarbPA - I tried your suggestions for posting my pictures and my files are too large. How can I change that? I consider myself pretty computer savvy, but I can't seem to figure this out! :?:

Later ladies!

BarbPA 08-08-2004 07:32 PM

Lisa -
Ack, I don't remember what my suggestions were....are you using a photo editing program to reduce the file size and saving them as .jpgs? If that doesn't work then you would want to try linking the picture from a photo site. For example, I have an account with picturetrail.com and I can post a photo there and then link it here without worrying about file size.

If you want you can e-mail me the picture(s) and I can try for you. Send me a PM is you want to try that option. We'll get it figured out!!!

;)

Lucky,

Check out this web-page.

http://scrapbooking.about.com/

Its felt good to get caught up on some things at home this weekend. On the physical front, I did get my bike out for a 30 minute ride. I was distracted the first half about whether or not the back tire was too low and then being irked because I couldn't get the hand air pump to make much difference. Guess I'll have to fork over money on a new pump.

I'm ready to get refocused to make the next 10 pounds disappear. Now, I just have to consistently behave my way to success.

thinthinker 08-09-2004 12:09 AM

Hi everyone! I worked all afternoon getting stuff posted to eBay. Dang, that's time consuming! :o I started about 2:00 and worked until 7:00. Finally just couldn't sit any longer and needed food.

Dinner was very disappointing. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings. I ordered the chicken club. The bun was hard as a rock so I ended up using a knife and fork and just cutting the stuff up. Ate more fries than I intended because I didn't have the bun to fill me up. :( Oh well. Tomorrow's a new day. I have to jump on the scale, however it won't be pretty because I had far too much salt today.

Movie Review: Collateral: I wouldn't spend money seeing it. :( Sorry, ladies, but it just didn't do it for me. Thin plot, slow story line, lots of shoot 'em up. Just wasn't there for me. I suggest if you want to see it, you rent it or wait for it to come to the $1.00 show.

Only have time for a quickie post tonight, so here goes.

Katrina: Saturdays and Sundays are made for sleeping in. No Guilt!!! *What did you decide to do with your evening? I bet it was hang out with your son. Am I right??? * Couldn't tell you much about Carpal Tunnel, but I'm with the others that those I've known who've had surgery do not feel much better afterwards. You could always try to stop doing whatever causes you pain. I know, easier said than done.

BarbPA: Sounds like you had a wonderful get-away! How cool to be a part of the show. What a neat treat!!!

Lucky: Great job walking! OMG, girl, you are really going to town! * Yes, it is weird to talk "exercise" with you. *Curves, ummmm, I liked it. I know Andria's out of town or she would answer and I know she likes it. I've already wrote my reasons for quitting. I had joined on a summer special too: last 6 weeks of the summer free, 1/2 price registration ($75) and $29 a month if I signed up for direct withdrawal for a year. I checked into some other options at the Woman's Expo this Spring and found another place that has "weight driven" machines. You customize the weights to your ability level so the workout actually gets more intense as you progress. Of course the people at Curves claim that your workout gets more intense as well but their machines are done with hydraulics and in order to get a better workout, you do the repititions faster. There was quite some discussion on threads in another area some time back and the girls that are really "into" exercise, didn't think much of Curves after the initial visits. Basically not much challenge after awhile. As for me, I didn't stick with it long enough or consistently enough to be much of a judge.

Terri: Sounds like the horses are taking up most of your free time and you're not getting out on the lake much at all this summer. That's really too bad. Hope you and DH can get a routine down that will allow you to do some of both real soon.

Barbg: That's wonderful that you can put your SIL to work and save yourself some headaches. How cool. *Good for your mom, trying to get out and stay active. *OMG, you expect to see MY house when you come in the Spring??? I guess I better get cleaning NOW!!! I might be done by then! :o

2cute: Aren't you sweet, saying I'll be a good "second mom"! :) BTW, if #2 daughter is going to be staying for a few days when she gets up here, maybe I can meet up with both of them and take them to lunch. Make sure you give them all my contact information, ok?

Pat: Thanks for checking in. YIKES, my fingers go numb all the time. My Chiropractor says it's because the vertibrae in my neck are crimping the nerves that run down my arms. Usually an adjustment will fix that.

Arabella: Thanks for your 2 cents worth too. That info is good to know. I use vitamin E for my leg cramps and this is very effective, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to add vitamin B for all the other stuff that ails me! :)

Lisa: Sorry to hear that you're having to tear your room apart and redo it. That sounds like a real mess. *Thanks for the comments on mom. Geez, she's driving me nutts! She turned 83 in July and she's never had to rely on a cane, walker, or wheelchair. She still drives, so she never needs a ride. Well this little episode (clipping her wings) has just about done her in. She didn't go out to play cards all last week. Her excuse was that she was just home from the hospital, even though she was walking around by herself and wasn't in any pain. She had a friend in yesterday and they played cards and then went out to dinner. So today I was supposed to take her for a little grocery store walk and she begged off saying that she didn't think she should go anywhere this week either. Now I don't know what the deal is. She said she didn't get up until 12:15 today. My guys went over to install a raised toilet seat and handrail. When I called her she said she went back to bed after they left. Then she says "one of these days I'll catch up on my sleep." Well, sleep is all she's been doing for 3 weeks (2 in the hospital, and 1 home). If she doesn't get out and moving, all the PT in the world isn't going to build her stamina back up. :(

Skittles: Glad to hear the staples are coming out. Maybe that will be what you need to get back to the pool. WooHoo. Good luck with your new program, I know you'll be a great success even without the dairy! :( *The dates for Spring Fling II haven't been set yet. I probably won't do that until around Christmas time (it's far too early for people to make arrangements anyway). Mostly because you might not know til then if there's a wedding in your future (cough, cough) or not this early so as it gets closer if there are dates that people CAN'T make it, I'll ask for those and try to work around some of them. I know I have a wedding on April 16th (NO, not one of my boys!) Anyway, the Fling was Friday afternoon/evening arrival, Saturday, and then Sunday afternoon/evening departure. Of course, if someone wants to come a day early or stay a day later, that's fine too. I had to laugh: "do I have to dance?" NO, but you can if you want to!!! No, you don't have to bring a date. I'm not telling anyone to leave anyone home. Terri's husband came this year and pretty much amused himself all weekend. The girls will definitely be taking some "girlie" time to get to know each other.

J-ann: Well, gosh, doesn't sound like you did anything FUN this weekend. But staying on program and being all the more healthy for it is always a good thing. Now, bite the bullet, jump on the scale (get it over with) and let's just get going! Whatdayasay????

Well, my dears, I'm about done here, so much for the "quickie post". Just wanted to mention, if you haven't seen them before, Walmart carries wonderful long handled metal measuring spoons (cup, 1/2 cup, 1/4 cup) that are great for serving up portions of veggies, rice, potatoes, etc. They're very reasonably priced too. I know WW carries some, but theirs are like $15 and they're plastic.

Ok, after midnight, must sleep. Love  ya bunches.

It's Motivation Monday!

Let's jump up and get some enthusiasm today!

Andria has dipped into twoterville. Who will be next?

I'm so close to dropping into the 240's but have been hanging out at the same point all summer. Time to make the scale move.

As Dr. Phil would say....require more of yourself this day. No sabotage. No self-medicating with food. No laying around in a pity party.

Set your mind on a small milestone and plan on how you're going to behave your way to success.

I'm not going to achieve my goal if I don't get more consistent and persistent about intensive exercise. Yesterday, I walked the dog in addition to my 30 minutes on the bike. This morning, I've already done 30 minutes on the airdyne stationary bike. Which is pretty good considering how much I hate that thing. Great overall exercise but its a mental challenge to stay on it. I've never really been able to hang in there for 30 mins before so this is good.

Any time you reach for the bad food or turn a blind eye to the exercise equipment today, just picture :drill: standing right behind you.

:drill:

:D

Good moorning ladies. Sneaking a peek while my daughter is PACKING. :(

I definitely plan on giving them your phone number in case of any emergencies too. Hope you don't mind. ;) I don't know their schedule. There are preset days for moving van and cable guy and such they have to be there. Then I know they want to do a little sight seeing too. :) Kelli has a friend in Lansing who is also coming to see them too.

Okay... better get going. Have a great day. OH... my computer is acting up... or rather broken down AGAIN. Grrrr I sure hope we get this thing fixed before she leaves. I won't have her computer to use anymore.

Grannie39074 08-09-2004 09:08 PM
