  • to the May exercise thread! We're making exercise a habit, giving ourselves some accountability, and getting healthier in the process!

    In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves (I personally will not exercise much without a goal). If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month!

    In 2007 the 300+ club exercised 205,352 minutes. Let’s break that record!

    To keep track, just add your minutes to the existing group’s minutes. If you’re new, look at what other people are doing – it’s pretty easy to figure out! To help everyone keep things straight, please note the OLD minutes and the number of NEW minutes you are adding, such as
    Group total ~ 500 + 50 = 550 minutes

    We've made a great start and I'd love to see us hit 20K minutes for April!!! What do you say chicks and roosters??

    Started the month off this morning with 65 minutes at the gym (30 mins on the treadmill and 35 mins weight training-Upper Body/Abs)

    Hope I can meet my exercise goal this month!

    So...I must be the first entry this month.

    Group Total: 0 + 65 = 65 mins

    I'm going to pledge 1600 minutes...I'll put a little thingy up to tally it. YAY!

  • Im shooting for 1600 min. Only got 1400 in april, but sure love the way the body changes with exercise.
  • I did a lot of walking today around Chicago, but will log 30 min of it.

  • I am shooting for 600 minutes this month. Double last months. ambitious but the weather is good!

    Group minutes = 185 + 25 = 210 minutes

  • Hey, where are all the exercisers???!! Have you been moving and shaking all day??!

    I did a lot of weeding today. Some of it a good upper body workout -- I pulled a lot of crap out of the ground. I'll count 20 min of it.

    Group total ~ 245 + 20 = 265 min

    300 +265 Former group total = 565 new group total.

  • ACK! I keep losing all these new May threads! I'm here, though --- I'm here! LOL

    My goal for the month of May: 1600 minutes.

    May1: 60 minutes treadmill + 30 minutes weights = 90 minutes. Wildlife = gym rats.
    May2: 60 minutes treadmill. Wildlife = gym water rats (in the pool).
    May3: 140 minutes walking outside at reclaimed gravel pits. Wildlife = coyote, blue heron, 2 kinds of egrets, many Canada geese, gadwalls (ducks), mallards, yellow-rumped warblers, American avocets, a bunch of cute turtles, 4 white pelicans.

    Personal total: 90 + 60 + 140 = 290/1600
    Group total: 605 + 290 = 895
