There and Back Again (lost, and regained)

  • I met my husband in 1994 when I was about 150 lbs. We married and then I had a baby a couple of years later. My pregnancy made my appetite soar out of control. I weighed 255lbs when I gave birth. I lost weight after I gave birth, got down to 220lbs, but the difficulties of raising a child with ADHD and a husband that has some troubles of his own, plus the deaths of my parents & oldest brother (all within 6 years!) my weight skyrocketed to 305 lbs. A couple of years ago, I counted calories obsessively and exercised like a mad woman and almost, (almost!) made it below 200lbs. Now I've regained the weight (and a little more--308 lbs now) I need to lose weight for me. I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and TIRED. So, back to counting calories and exercise, but I'm going to not kill myself with it this time around. I'm gonna take more time and try to just enjoy the journey instead of being all frantic and panicked about it.
  • Hi Cherry!
I can totally relate! I was nearly 320 at my heaviest and two years ago I managed to get down to 235 but I've slowly put it back on and now I'm hovering at 287 and don't have a ton of motivation to push again. What kind of exercising are you doing? The good news is that we KNOW that we CAN do it. I have to keep reminding myself that I need to focus on daily goals and not get bogged down for the overwhelming long-term goal (which seem terribly daunting).
