You are welcome Kathy. How are you doing? How is your diet working out?

Sencha I love it when it feels like I've lost weight. Mind if I ask what your class is about?

My routine is off so then of course my eating is also. I never knew I was such a routine baby.

How is everyone doing?

anniemaxx 08-25-2017 09:07 AM

Popping in to say good morning. Have been successful this week.
Keeping within my eating lines. This week instead of measuring what I eat I am going to make a plan and follow it. Still count but know in advance.
Almost at 40 lbs. People are starting to comment to my new size.

All right Anniemaxx! Is it time for a few new outfits to go with your new smaller you?

I am struggling with hormones. It makes it easier to know it is hormones and not a downward spiral. I am allowing myself to eat more but trying not to get too out of control.

:carrot::carrot::carrot:WAY TO GO ANNIE!!!

Sencha 08-25-2017 09:07 PM

Ubee, my classes are in social work. I'm currently studying interviewing techniques, ways to be a helper, loss and grief, and crisis management. I'm really enjoying all of my classes!

anniemaxx, congratulations on your awesome loss! You inspire me to keep going.

My scale is out of commission until I get a new battery for it next Friday. I will keep going strong and hope that the scale will show a loss the next time I weigh myself. I go in to the doctor on Tuesday, and I'm interested to see how much weight I've lost according to their scale. Usually I weigh about 5 pounds more on their scale than at home, probably due to the fact that I'm wearing clothes at the doctor!

Ubee 08-26-2017 11:11 AM

Sencha your classes sound amazing! You have such a big heart.

My hormones seem to have calmed down. The scale is only showing a pound gain so I am hoping that is the only damage done.
Have a good day and think healthy.

Sencha 08-27-2017 07:58 AM

Ubee, thank you very much :)

I didn't do very well with dinner last night. I had a bowl and a half of chili and two pieces of cornbread. Afterward, I was stuffed. Definitely ate too much. The next time I have chili I'll stick with one bowl and one slice of cornbread, or maybe even half a slice.

Friends
Can you believe it's almost fall? With two thirds of the year gone it's time to decide what we are going to do for the next 4 months. Set some goals.
Ubeeyour total loss is right about what I need to lose to get to goal. I have not seen under 200 lbs in so long that I can't remember when it was. I spend years and years going between 200 and 215. I looked and felt good at that weight (in my opinion LOL)
200lbs. To burst through the 200 number to me has always been, in my mind, the "marker" to a normal weight. When I came to the States in 1984 I weighed 140 and that had always been the line I did not cross as a young woman. I want to get back to that weight but although that number seems impossible for me to
fathom at this moment I do know in the back of my mind that it is where I want to end the loss part of this journey. I have two daughters and they are both in the "normal range", I want to make sure I set a new example for them. Or are they setting the example for me ???

[B]Sencha /B] For the past couple of months I have been saying to myself "you can have REASONS or RESULTS but not both" it is my choice to have the results. Both are choices. I know how difficult it is to live with the sugar (carb) addiction. But, once it is gone the cravings disappear.

Please friends make good decisions for yourselves.

Ubee 08-28-2017 04:19 PM

Sencha I hope you had a better day today.

Anniemaxx you sound like you are on a roll. What are your goals for the rest of the year?

I am struggling less today and feeling more determined. Posting on here sure helps.

Sencha 08-29-2017 07:35 AM

Ubee, I did have a better day today. Planning on having a good one today, too. I agree with you that having the support of 3FC helps a lot. I think that's what was missing the last few times I tried to lose weight.

Weighing in at the doctor's office today. I'm sure it will show a loss, but probably not as much as I've actually lost, since their scale weighs a few pounds heavier than mine. I can't wait until I get a new battery for my scale on Friday. I only weigh once a week, but it's a major motivator for me. I'm doing some grocery shopping on Friday to get some more healthy food. I can't do it before then because we won't have the money. I've planned my dinners for the next week and a half. I've got bean soup with bread and "butter" until Thursday, then West African Peanut Soup and Lentil, Mushroom and Sweet Potato Sheperd's Pie after that. I've decided that I'm going to go mostly vegetarian. I don't care for meat that much, vegetarian can be cheaper, and is probably healthier too. I'll make sure to take my vitamins and get plenty of protein. It looks like I'll be done with my associate's degree after this summer, and then will start on my bachelor's at a different school. I'm planning on working part-time while doing that degree (hope that works out!), so I want to lose as much weight as I can before the end of summer so I can look good while interviewing for jobs. I know I won't be at my goal weight - that's a long way away - but maybe I can lose a good chunk of weight. I reckon that I'll be done with school by July, so if I'm losing 6 pounds a month, that could be a loss of 66 pounds.

Everybody, what are your goals for the rest of the year?

Ubee 08-29-2017 07:55 AM

Sencha it is nice when the good days outweigh the not so good ones.

There are so many delicious recipes available for vegetarians on line.
I have read about how nutritional yeast is a good choice for vegetarians. While I am by no means a vegetarian (More like a carnivore.) I have added it to my diet because it is so healthy.

I am back on track today. So glad I decided to track my weight/moods/WOE because now I know my body does all kinds of crazy stuff. I have learned to relax, NOT QUIT, and just go with the flow.

Sencha 08-29-2017 08:16 AM

Ubee, I'll look into nutritional yeast. I think it's important to be aware of your moods. For me, they can cause some intense cravings, but if I'm aware that I'm feeling anxious or whatever, it's a lot easier to tell myself that I want junk food because of that, and not think that the craving came out of nowhere.

sweetcakes736 08-29-2017 08:29 AM

Congrats on meeting that first mini goal Sencha....AWESOME JOB

Sencha 08-29-2017 10:58 AM

sweetcakes736, thank you!

I went to the doctor and the scale said 317.6, so I'm probably actually down a few pounds from that, going by my scale.

anniemaxx 08-30-2017 09:26 AM

Friends I am so excited to be in the 260's today. (only by half a pound) . I am equally excited for the choices I am making in my lifestyle. #1 change is fighting the fight in the grocery store. If it's not in the house then I can't eat it.
Ubee Do you remember several months ago when I was thinking about the cupcake I was going to eat on my son's birthday. Well that day is today, and guess what? I don't think I am going to eat one. My craving has reduced to maybe a teaspoon of cream cheese frosting.
I am having a dinner for him on Thursday but planning on taking some cupcakes and balloons to his house today. Do you think there is something about losing a chunk of weight that makes it less urgent to lose the total? After this initial almost 40lbs
I am a little anxious I won't be able to keep focus. Not right now but maybe after another 20 lbs. Any hints for long term ???
SenchaShepherds PIe is my favorite. Try it with mashed cauliflower instead of potatoes. Keep on the road girl. You are going in the right direction. Slow or fast you are headed to health.
Have a wonderful day
