OrionNebula, it is so hard sometimes to keep from eating back exercise calories. Are you more hungry on days when you exercise?
Ubee, vacations and feast days really take a toll on weight loss, but don't give up. I think that as long as you have more good days than bad, you will make progress.
I measured myself yesterday and I don't seem to have lost any inches off my "waist" (really more of a belly), or anywhere else, but I have lost 8.4 pounds over the past month. I don't know where from, though. I'm very happy about this since I pretty much spent two weeks off plan due to vacations, etc. I know my weight loss will slow down the more I lose, but I'm glad to see a big loss to start with since it's such a motivator. Hopefully I can lose more this next 30 days, since I'll have no real reason to go off plan.
One thing that really bothered me when I was visiting my sister- and mother-in-law was how much they talked about weight loss. I have an eight year old daughter, and I don't think that she needs to be influenced by that "diet" mentality. What we at 3FC are doing is changing our lifestyle, which is something different, in my opinion. But talking about it so much in front of her may be bad for her self-image, causing her to worry that she might be overweight (which she isn't). She's already adamant that everyone at home eat healthily, and I worry that unless she's taught to approach that in a reasonable fashion, she will be at risk of developing an eating disorder when she is older.

Ubee 08-11-2017 02:53 PM

Sweetcakes thanks for the reminder to get moving. I love Richard...

Unapologetic Lover this is a chat thread, long answers are encouraged. As sweetcakes was saying it would be so wonderful if we could take it off as fast and easily as we can pack it on. Thanks for sharing more of your journey.

Orion I know you can get to under 300 by then. What a great feeling that will be. That 3 is such a bugger.

Sencha there is only so much we can control with our kids. I think what we teach at home stays with them the most. Unfortunately their peers and the media also have too big of an influence. I am sure you pump her full of self confidence and that will go a long ways.

I think I am getting crabby with myself which is OK. Time to put my big girl pants on and start behaving.
On a happy note my latest big girl pants are baggy!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Sencha 08-12-2017 01:52 PM

Ubee, congratulations on the baggy pants!

Ubee 08-12-2017 08:26 PM

Thanks Sencha, it feels so good.

OrionNebula 08-13-2017 11:44 AM

Sencha - I honestly don't feel hungrier when I exercise, I just get cravings and give in to them sometimes because I've burned the extra calories and think it's ok.

Yesterday we went to the coast for the day. I wanted to walk in the waves, so I decided to see if my capris fit... and they did! The particular pair I wore haven't fit in over two years. In fact, they were even a little snug when I bought them (hoping I would lose a few pounds). Yesterday, they fit perfectly :D Progress!

Kathy.kolb 08-13-2017 11:55 AM

Doctor wanted to change my thyroid med intake. OK. So then I had no energy for a week. Relapse. Now, going back to original dose. #Frustrated.

Sencha 08-13-2017 01:37 PM

OrionNebula, glad to hear you don't get hungrier. The more I think about it, I wonder if I'm not rehydrating adequately.

Not feeling great about myself today, my breakfast was potato chips. I'll still come in under my calories, but man do I feel like cr*p.

anniemaxx 08-13-2017 01:39 PM

I am pleased with the progress the scale is showing me. I am thrilled with the habits I am developing. One thing that is a surprise/change - I had a radar for Starbuck's that seems to have gone. I know for sure I passed a starbuck's twice yesterday but neither noticed nor even thought about Starbuck's. I usually stop by for a coffee on my way to pick up Riley which I did yesterday.
Getting used to life without sweets. I do have a chocolate fix - California Brands Black and White (yummy). Low in carbs and I mix with Atkins Shake (100 cals for 8oz.)
Trying to swim as much as the rain will allow.
Reading a lot - self improvement - Keto diet - Cognitive Behavior - real estate. In no particular order.
It's amazing how many parts of my life interact.
Gary Keller says "The habits that you create will either help you reach your goals or hamper your attempts". then quotes Warren Buffett, most people discover too late that "the chains of habits are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken". My big goal of another 100lbs must be supported by big habits to make sure I succeed. The lines cannot be blurry.
I know from experience that one small chocolate bar can lead me in the wrong direction.
Everyone it is no surprise that we all have similar experiences. The best feeling when we are shopping out of our own closet and when those big girl pants are getting too big to quote Ubee, also the frustration when the scale is not moving or even creeping up a little.
Develop some habits that keep you on the right track. The wrong track sucks and I endorse the fact that that 3 is the worst.
Have a great Sunday......

Sencha 08-13-2017 03:42 PM

anniemaxx, I am very excited to start shopping my closet soon. I have a whole bag of clothes that are too small, and two dresses that are perfect for fall and winter that are just a little too small for me to feel comfortable. Hopefully I'll lose enough that I'll be able to wear them this winter!

anniemaxx 08-13-2017 10:01 PM

Sencha
If you love clothes like I do (fashionista) just realize that about 15 - 20 lbs will be a size. I am also excited to be able to wear some things I bought last year before a quick gain of 40 lbs. (they still have tags).
anniemaxx

Ubee 08-14-2017 05:51 PM

Hi everyone.

Anniemaxx YES! So many parts of our lives do interact! That is why I always get excited when someone starts talking about removing clutter from their house, body fat is clutter on our body. So glad to hear you are doing so well.

Sencha you are so close to your first goal. You can do this. I hope today was a better day for you.

Kathy hope your meds have you feeling healthy soon.

Orion nice progress with the capris.

Today the scale read 239.8 I have not been in the 230's since 1994!

Sencha 08-14-2017 09:32 PM

anniemaxx, yes, I do love clothes. One of the things that's got me so excited about losing weight is that I'll finally be able to sew some cute clothes for myself. 15-20 pounds being equal to one size seems a lot more do-able than thinking of all the weight I'll need to lose before I can be out of the plus sizes.

Ubee, I am doing better today. I went over my calories by a little, but stayed on plan. My meds aren't upsetting my stomach tonight like they have been. I'm happy for you that you've hit the 230's!

I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow morning since I forgot to do it today, but I think I may have some water weight. I think that time of the month is going to be upon me soon. :(

Ubee 08-15-2017 09:33 AM

Sencha glad you had a better day. I find I also am holding water if I do not sleep well.
So exciting that you are close to your first mini goal!

Sencha 08-15-2017 10:33 AM

I've officially lost 10 pounds! I weighed in today at 321, so I've got one more pound to go before I hit my first mini goal. Hopefully I'll lose it this week. This time around just seems so different from all the other times. I don't feel deprived, and every pound I lose makes me more excited to continue my healthy eating habits. I'm not exercising yet, but I want to add in strength training soon. The trick for me will be finding exercises I can do without getting down on the floor. That's a bit of a struggle for me at this point. I'm thinking of some moves that I can do standing up, like wall pushups or planks on the arm of the couch. That's about all my abs and chest can handle anyway.

Ubee 08-15-2017 03:35 PM

:congrat: Sencha! 10 pounds down and 1 to go!!!

anniemaxx 08-15-2017 08:03 PM

:celebrate::celebrate:Sencha I am so glad for you and also impressed you are making your clothes. As a society we have devalued clothes so much. We Just throw them away.
UbeeI have noticed that you are under 240 and I congratulate you much:celebrate::celebrate:
Feel like I ate a lot today but all good stuff,
left me tired

anniemaxx

Ubee 08-16-2017 09:47 AM

Thank you Anniemaxx. How are you doing? I miss your updates on what you are learning in life.

I am doing well. Knowing that my husband wants to lose also, and that our daughter needs to stay healthy changes everything. We are saving so much money by eating less. Everyone says fruits and veggies cost so much but so does junk food. Besides I go to Aldi's for fruits and veggies and they always have something at a great price.
Still need to move more. I bought some hand weights at a rummage sale so my husband and I each have some. We will start doing simple arm exercises today.

Sencha 08-17-2017 08:30 AM

Ubee, I'm glad that your family wants to be healthy too. I'm having some trouble getting my husband on board with a healthy lifestyle, and he really needs it. Aldi is a good option for inexpensive fruits and veggies. I have found that Meijer usually has good sales on produce as well.

I have a dental appointment today to get some cavities filled, and I'm pretty nervous about it. It's been a while since I've been to the dentist, and I'm concerned that the medicines they will use will interact with my own, although I'm sure that's something they check on before hand. Still a bit nervous, though.
On the positive side, I noticed last night that my pants are starting to feel a little looser, but not in a spot that I have been measuring, so I don't know for sure that I've lost any inches.

Unapologetic Lover 08-17-2017 06:51 PM

Anniemaxx and Sencha, there is probably nothing more exciting than entering in new clothes you could not even imagine get before. I have a pair of jeans ( too big for me now :) ) that I bought few years ago ( 3 or 4 years ago ) and I was hoping I could wear them one day... I did :). Now I have a new pair of Jeans ( and a tee shirt and a shirt as well ) waiting for my diet progress. That's a fantastic challenge imo.

Ubee, thanks Ubee, I will definitely keep contributing to this forum. I have to say I really love it. Great to have a community of people understanding the struggle we go through with the diet.

OrionNebula, yes walking is great and you're right EASY :). A nice scenery helps, but the appropriate weather as well. Here in Spain, as it's very hot during summertime. I walk in the evening or morning. I'm thinking to get a bike as well when I lose more weight and feel more comfortable to go for a bike. I'm thinking about hiking as well, many friends are trying to convince me. I might give it a try. Any other nice suggestions :) ?

Kathy.kolb, hi, what's the story with that thyroid medication ? Will this help with your diet ? Thanks.

Those last 2 weeks have not been good for me... :(
I've had more cheat moments in the last 2 weeks than I did in the last 2 or 3 months.
The good thing is that I stick to the gym and walking. And when I buy a Ice cream or cakes, I end up throwing them away after starting eating them because I feel bad.
I hope I will regain my momentum. My Coach expects me to go the scale next week and I really don't want a bad news... I was hoping to be below the 300lbs, but now I'm not sure... Depressing :(
But I'll keep the momentum, no choice :)

anniemaxx 08-17-2017 08:55 PM

I have had a little less focus this past two weeks than in the last two months. I had made a commitment to myself to focus on my health. Although I am not way off on the eating I have not followed my big rule of not eating even a morsel unless I am eating sitting down and with a fork. I caught myself eating a pinch of cheese - because I started measuring it and a quarter cup looks so much more than I thought.
lol so I treated myself to a little pinch. Got to get back into drinking the water. the water. Eating creeping up a little. I stopped my food log. Big No No. So I am going to be a very good girl until the end of the month. Who wants to join me in the challenge
So I am starting that again. Got a little confident there for a minute. No gain of any consequence - up a pound then back down a pound. I am not freaking out because I know that the unplanned food - chicken from a chick-fil-a sandwich could not possibly have a long term effect. Taking the next three days to do some intermittent fasting, Also drink lots of water.
Happy about shopping in my closet. Some clothes already big.
Thought I'd have a comfy day the other day and saw a photo of myself (no comment except it was an old bra) lol.
On that note I will say goodnight and when I reach my goal I'll show you the photo (not pretty).

Have a great evening

Sencha 08-18-2017 07:36 AM

Unapologetic Lover, that's great that you hit your first goal outfit. Keep going and I'm sure you will reach your new goal. That's so great that you have stuck to your exercise plan. I also think it's good that you're throwing away your cheat foods rather than finishing them! Maybe they're something that you can buy smaller portions of so that you can have them and not feel guilty?

anniemaxx, I haven't been following my rule of sitting down to eat as strictly as I should either. I will join you in your challenge for the rest of the month. My challenge will be to eat small, regular meals throughout the day rather than barely eating during the day and having a large dinner. I feel better when I space my food out over the day.

The dentist was sooo much better than I thought it would be. No pain, just sitting in that chair for an hour and a half being bored. I had a cavity in one of my wisdom teeth, so having my jaw open that wide for so long has it pretty sore today. Also, the dentist pinched my cheeks really hard when he was numbing me in order to distract me, so now I have bruises, or at least sore spots, on my cheeks today.

Ubee 08-18-2017 08:50 PM

Sencha glad the dentist appointment went well.

Anniemaxx I know all to well how that photo looks. This morning I gave the girls a pep talk about moving back up north.

Unapologetic Lover
has something changed that you are struggling with your eating?

I love all the clothes stories! A few months ago I bought smaller jeans and gave them to my daughter in college to borrow. At the time she laughed at me using the borrowed word. She was giving me high fives today when she saw how nice they fit! I told her I would give them back when they got to be too big for me. ;)

Sencha 08-19-2017 07:00 AM

Well, I didn't stick to my plan of eating small, regular meals today. Ever since I went off one of my meds that was causing me to feel ravenous ALL the time, I haven't been as hungry, and the hunger doesn't seem as urgent as it used to. So I had a protein bar and banana for breakfast, another protein bar for lunch, and then hot dogs and tater tots for dinner. I weighed myself this morning and I'd lost 3 pounds since Monday, which means I overshot my first mini goal by 2 pounds :D I know that my weight loss will slow down the closer I get to my goal, but it's such a motivator to see it coming off quickly at this point.

Ubee 08-19-2017 07:49 AM

Congratulations Sencha! I think it is important to have many small mini goals. I made mine 10 pounds like yours and then under 250 I started my 5 pound goals.

anniemaxx 08-20-2017 10:44 PM

Friends
just checking in before bed. I am facing a busy week and feel prepared, please wish me luck though. I am a Realtor and am taking customers out to buy a new house this week. They are moving from out of state so have to 'get er done' in a week. I am also going out of town Tuesday night through Wednesday.
My worry is the dreaded snack food they have laying around hotel conferences. My goal is to stick to the zero tolerance policy, I am afraid if I start I won't stop :(
My plan is to drink water and coffee all day, pack a lunch and not really bother what other people are doing about food.
The company is buying matching t shirts for us. I was able to order a 2X. [B]Ubee[/B ]I will be leaving the sports bra at home.
Sencha Next time make sure those are Broccoli tater tots LOL Seriously - try the Green Giant Cauliflower Rice and let me know what you think.
My hubby and I went grocery shopping yesterday and spent over $200 (TP, shampoo etc was included). We had a long discussion of how we would not be able to feed a family of six like we used too.
It's no wonder we are getting huge as a nation. The affordable groceries are sooooo processed.

If I don't get to check in please know I will be following your posts on my phone.

Please have a great week and treat yourselves well.

Karencat 08-21-2017 05:20 AM

Anniemax - hope the week goes well

Yes I have been mia this month pretty sad really not the best month - off track out of focus complete blahs so pretty much up and down on the scale like a yo-yo
Having said that added up it's not s. Gain so good
Need to refocus and plan this week
My planning has well to put it politely stunk!!!
Here is to a hoo week for all of us

Kathy.kolb 08-21-2017 08:56 AM

Grats Sencha!

Re: Thyroid meds are because my thyroid isn't making enough hormone to correctly run my body. So, I am prescribed thyroid med. This is part of why I weight so much, no energy for 30 years.

Sencha 08-21-2017 12:20 PM

anniemaxx, I will try the cauliflower rice. I know what you mean about not being able to buy affordable healthy food. I'm not sure how we'll manage once I get my husband on the bandwagon, but I'll make it work somehow. Maybe going mostly vegetarian will help with the food budget, but DH loves his meat too much. Tomorrow I'll be making a bean soup, with quinoa on the side. Hopefully it will taste alright. I try to meal prep my dinners for the week; otherwise I end up eating whatever DH cooks, and it's usually not that healthy. Once again, I did not meet my goal of eating regular meals yesterday. My stomach was upset all day, and the only reason I ate dinner (which was cereal) was because I had to take my meds.

Ubee 08-21-2017 06:12 PM

Sencha as both you and your husband lose you will require less food. Our grocery budget has gone down yet we still struggle with making too much.

Kathy have you ever heard of Mary Shomon? I heard about her in the dieting with obsticles section of 3 FC.

Karencat you should be heading into spring soon, right? That may help turn things around?

Anniemaxx I will be thinking of you this week. Zero tolerance is sometimes the best option. Perhaps if you check out what the other ladies are wearing and pick out a few of the nicest dressed who are in smaller sizes and imagine how much better you will feel when you can fit into cuter clothes. Then when you are tempted just imagine yourself wearing those clothes. (It may be time to burn that sports bra.)

Today I weigh 90 pounds less then my heaviest weight.

Have a great day.

Sencha 08-21-2017 08:34 PM

Ubee, that is so wonderful that you are 90 pounds less than your heaviest. That's some serious dedication!

Ubee 08-22-2017 07:54 PM

Thanks Sencha! How was your day?

Anniemaxx stay strong you want to get this weight off more then you want that fat making stuff you would just shove down your throat and not enjoy. How do you want to look and feel a year from now?

Sweetcakes I thought of you today when I was chasing my grandsons, sitting cross legged on the ground with them and lugging them around. Now is the time for you to get your weight off. I know you are dealing with an empty nest but that time may be shorter then you realize. Make the most of it now,

How is everyone else doing?

Sencha 08-23-2017 06:45 AM

Kathy.kolb, it's really hard to lose weight when your thyroid's off. I was on thyroid medicine for a while many years ago, and then for some reason it went back to normal. I still worry about though.

Ubee, my day yesterday was pretty good. I did have two pieces of rye toast with my tea because I was hungry, and after that I wanted an english muffin, but I didn't have it. Had to sit down on the floor to help my DD with her homework, which was not easy, and another reminder of why I'm losing weight.

Today is my first at-campus class. It's an evening class and I'm wondering whether I should eat before or after. Nervous stomach means I will probably end up eating after I get home.

Ubee 08-23-2017 08:02 PM

Sencha how was class?

I had an up up and away day with food today. Going to have to rein it back in tomorrow.

So very quiet around here...

Kathy.kolb 08-24-2017 09:48 AM

Thanks Ubee, I'll look into Mary Shomon.

Sencha 08-24-2017 10:45 AM

Ubee, class was great. It looks like it will be very interesting.

I think I've lost more weight, but I can't tell for sure because my scale's acting weird. I think it needs new batteries, which I won't be able to get until next Friday.

Ubee 08-24-2017 07:14 PM

You are welcome Kathy. How are you doing? How is your diet working out?

Sencha I love it when it feels like I've lost weight. Mind if I ask what your class is about?

My routine is off so then of course my eating is also. I never knew I was such a routine baby.

How is everyone doing?

anniemaxx 08-25-2017 09:07 AM

Popping in to say good morning. Have been successful this week.
Keeping within my eating lines. This week instead of measuring what I eat I am going to make a plan and follow it. Still count but know in advance.
Almost at 40 lbs. People are starting to comment to my new size.

Ann

Ubee 08-25-2017 11:15 AM

All right Anniemaxx! Is it time for a few new outfits to go with your new smaller you?

I am struggling with hormones. It makes it easier to know it is hormones and not a downward spiral. I am allowing myself to eat more but trying not to get too out of control.

sweetcakes736 08-25-2017 11:18 AM

:carrot::carrot::carrot:WAY TO GO ANNIE!!!

Sencha 08-25-2017 09:07 PM

Ubee, my classes are in social work. I'm currently studying interviewing techniques, ways to be a helper, loss and grief, and crisis management. I'm really enjoying all of my classes!

anniemaxx, congratulations on your awesome loss! You inspire me to keep going.

My scale is out of commission until I get a new battery for it next Friday. I will keep going strong and hope that the scale will show a loss the next time I weigh myself. I go in to the doctor on Tuesday, and I'm interested to see how much weight I've lost according to their scale. Usually I weigh about 5 pounds more on their scale than at home, probably due to the fact that I'm wearing clothes at the doctor!
