300+Chat Thread, March 2017
It's March!!! :kissluck::luck2you:
Good Afternoon Everyone – First I'd like to thank you for all the support. I think sometimes without realizing it we adapt to the new norm of being overweight over time and forget how our life once was. :grouphug: Several of your points hit home hard. The broken plastic chairs at the shelter, using the elevator at work instead of the stairs, walking up my front steps one step at a time putting both feet on each step before stepping to the next, shopping online rather than in the stores, honking the horn accidentally every time I get out of the car, backing into the car and rotating to sit in the seat, getting out of breath walking to the mailbox, haven’t flown because of the seat situation… These have all become my new norm, but they aren’t the norm and don’t have to be. Please keep sharing the non-weight moments as well as the weight ones. I’ve written all these non-number related items down, so I can reread them if I hit a rut and forget again. I used to love the Omaha Zoo and went every summer. The last time I went I had to stop and sit every bench or sitting wall we came to. That is my new goal. Lose 50 pounds and make a trip to the Omaha Zoo in September. That’s about 8 pounds a month more or less. Ruby – Walking on a wooded trail sounds wonderful. Even if your daughter does stop every little bit is moving and moving is the goal. Also I love the wonder of little ones :twirly:– they notice every detail that we get too busy to pay attention to. 10,000 steps includes walking around. You probably get a couple of thousand a day chasing that little one. I’m really pushing to get 2,000 steps a day in right now but I’m determined to up that every couple of weeks. 54 pounds lost so awesome, let’s get it in gear for another 25! Karencat – Unfortunately I don’t know anyone in Australia. Fun fact – my grandfather was a sheep shearer and competed at the International Sheep Shearing Contests in Australia one year – I was just a kid, but I still remember all the pictures he took. As for you - what can I say? You are the movement queen. 45,000 steps (that’s around 22 or 23 miles) in one day. Are you just plain crazy? (giggles) Seriously though swimming for 40 minutes, yoga, weight training, 114 pounds down – you remind me who I want to be - a healthier version of me. You go girl!:yoga::exercise::running::lifter: Living – Several of us are lurkers ;). I only post once or twice a week, but I have posts sent to my phone every day so I can keep up on what everyone else is doing. Sorry to hear about the gastric pains. It makes it so hard to enjoy things when you are hurting. Hope the docs figure out what is up. Please let us know what you find out. Echo – Got the scale, see the number and ready to do something about it. That's the place to start. Please don’t look at it as 180 or 190 pounds. Look at it as 5 pounds, 10 pounds, or 2 pounds whatever works for you. This has got to be a lifestyle change not a diet. It’s so easy to lose 40 or 50 pounds, but if it’s just a diet in a few years you are right back where you were. We’ve all done it. Two years is nothing. Make you a deal – I’ll still be here in two years if you will and I might even try for that 5k with you.:cheer2: Scotsgal – You rock it my dear! You jump right in and try new things, figure out what works, know your body so well. Good job getting to a new low – you are going to look so good by the time that wedding rolls around in June! Thank you so much for running the challenge. I know how busy you are but I find it really helpful. I also see people posting there that don’t regularly post on this thread and I think that is great that it gives everyone one more place to keep motivated. :carrot: Ichoose – Yay! 25 pounds down. And you whipped right past the 309 barrier. I knew you could. We are right about in the same place - let’s just whip right past the 300 pound mark as well. So glad you are with us.:):) Ubee – You always know just the right thing to say at just the right time. Thank you for being you. Anyone I’ve missed, anyone lurking – stop by and say hi!! We are here for you. |
Happy March Everyone :luck2you:
Phae I love that you wrote non-scale things down. I think I am going to put one on my front door to look at every morning. I can't wait until we can say goodbye to the 300's forever!! So... I have a few NSV's to share: 1) Ankle didn't hurt after walking 2 miles yesterday. :carrot::carrot: 2) I don't have to suck in my stomach to button my favorite work pants. They were even falling down a bit. :D 3) I bought a swim suit at Target !! (Ava Viv but super cute). 4) I ate a chocolate bar (mini dove) and I didn't get another one or want any other sweets. :yay: I hope everyone has a wonderful week. |
Hmm...non scale victories
1. I went down a few shoe sizes. I was wearing 12s but i bought new walking shoes and i fit into a 10! Pretty awesome because its hard to find non clownish shoes in a 12 2. I bought a 3x t shirt and it fit comfortably. 3. I'm happy...that probably sounds silly but the last few weeks I have just been happier. Doing more with my family, getting out more, enjoying life. I just read an article that weight can cause skin problems. Does anyone agree with this? If loosing weight helps my skin look nicer that would be a great bonus! |
Hello March! And Hello Everyone!
I hit a new Personal Best at the Gym yesterday by squatting 40kg and I hurt my darn neck  Today I managed to book in for a deep tissue back massage and Hot Stones to try and sort out the discomfort. I knew I hadn't injured it, just made a knot. My whole left side was all clicking and twanging :o. She asked if I was left handed, because its very unusual to have a bad side of the body and it not being your strong side. Anyway.... she beat me up and now I feel much better. I will only be able to do cardio tonight at the gym I think, she doesn't want me to hurt myself. So as I can see that you all have some pretty darn awesome NSV's, here are some of mine in the last few weeks: 1) My jeans and jeggins now come all the way up to over the belly  2) I can feel my arms getting more muscley, there is the start of some definition coming. 3) I can do so much more in the gym than I could before 4) I walk much faster and without getting puffed out. 5) I used to have a bit of a fatty hump on the back of my neck, not sure if its the weights that have flattened it out  or if It just went from weight loss, but whatever it is, its gone..... :D I will be starting the new challenge for Monday, The countdown for Summer begins :D Well especially for me because we get it first at the end of May, then it disappears by the time actual summer comes around . |
The past week has been good. Lost about 4 lbs. Looking at forward to sunday again so see where I am at.
Since my exercise journey started before my scale I feel like my jeans are fiting right instead of tight which was a nice feeling yesterday. I also hit 7,000 steps yesterday. I normally range about 3,000 on my "rest" days and about 5,000 on my 5k training days. I think I might start aiming for weekly step goals. ^.^ Postive thoughts ladies. I am so thankful to not feel alone. & hopefully in two years I can hold ya to it Phae :) I am really hoping to do my first 5k before the end of this year. ♡ |
Good Evening Everyone! Just stopping by to say hello. Glad to see that everyone is doing well. All of the tests for my stomach have come back inconclusive so far and the pains have slowed down slightly, so I am holding off for a bit to see if maybe it was a passing issue before scheduling the next big round of test that the doctor was wanting to perform. In the meantime, my weight-loss stall appears to have passed, I am down to 250.8, so I am very excited about that. I have been trying to eat a fairly low carb diet lately and I had already cut out sugar, caffeine and artificial sweeteners about 7 months ago, so mostly just fresh protein and vegetables for me, which seems to have broken the plateau.
Absolutely love the sharing of NSVs. My major one is fitting into a pair of size 22 jeans. In September I was wearing an elastic waist size 26 jean and now I am able to wear a size 22 with no elastic. Also I was at the doctor over the weekend and sat beside my husband in the waiting room and there was extra room in the chair beside me. He pointed it out. There was probably two inches, even. I walked across a busy intersection at a crosswalk today without even thinking about whether or not I would run out of time for the crossing light. Phae - I absolutely LOVE the Omaha zoo. I have been to zoo's all over the country and the Omaha zoo is my favorite, but there are a lot of hills to climb. If you can spend a day doing that, you'll definitely be getting your share of exercise! |
Good Morning -
Just popping in. I LOVE all the NSV. It's not just about calories, grams, numbers on the scale... it's also about being a healthier us and all the little victories that come with that! Everyone have a happy and healthful week. :carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot: |
Happy Sunday Everyone!
Yesterday I was in the city with my mum buying some material for a skirt that I want to make for a wedding I have coming up in June. We decided to go to a place called Bella Italia for some much deserved Lunch. We shared some Bruschetta, I had a Cesar Salad, then some Gelatto  It was amazing. But today I am now 1.2lbs up from my lowest, which I have actually been struggling with all week since having my routine up routed at the beginning. So today I have been fairly good, hoping that with 2 very good days and strong workout days, I will have came up a loss on the scale on Wednesday. Would like to see a 271. something by then. ALSO...... The new Challenge is up!! Its called the :dancer: Here Comes the Sun :dancer: Challenge which runs until the 8th of May. I hope you all take part and find it useful to track in |
Hi dear fat loss friends,
sorry for not checking in, but I was kind of fed up with everything. The diet is working and food isn't much of a Problem - but after having the ruptured disc and having enough trouble working with that and taking care of it and losing weight before they might have to work on it - now I ended up with meniscus tear at the same let - so it just hurts. But the worst things happened in my mind, like Feeling - why should I do all this, put all the effort in getting healthier, if everything is already broken down. I felt like a wreck and needed some days to overcome this Feelings. But it helped to read you, even if I wasn't in the mindset for an answer. Hopefully that Returns soon. |
So this morning I hit a new low :D It was very surprising and I am still going to work my booty off for today and tomorrow. Now I am at 272.4 which is .3 lower than the other day. I really want to see 271 for my Wednesday weigh inn to start my Challenge.
This morning I worked out at the gym for a short time and burned about 400 calories, I am aiming to hit 10,000 steps as well today, then I will return back to the gym this evening and hope I can get some bloomin weights in, which were busy today. Tomorrows plan is to gym tomorrow, then walk the dog at night possibly. Just need to keep moving. Sister is due her baby over the next week or so, trying to get in as much workout as possible before I end up with her kids and cant get to the gym. Sugar2go Thank you for coming back. I think we all go through some parts of our journey when we question its worth. Especially when your body wants to resist it by breaking down. I have overcame a few hurdles in the last year related to health, but I stuck with it in hope for consistency and sustainability. I have now lost 50lbs, its only 1/3 of my journey and I feel a bit beaten up. But I feel so far amazing..... If hitting 100lb is even 1/3 more amazing than I feel now, I will be ecstatic . Sometimes making a list of things that you have learned, or a list of things that you now enjoy, can really help you understand its worth. So for you.... I am going to make these lists that relate to me, so that maybe it will help you in some way. Things I have Learned: 1) Losing weight, does not always mean eating fewer calories, it means eating the right foods to fuel your body. 2) Eating chocolate or sweet treats is not bad, or a syn, if you have the calories to eat it. It is just a way to eat less food for more calories. You can decide which route to take. 3) The fitness industry give out too much conflicting information, It really is just down to calorie counting, fresh food eating, and moving your butt more. 4) learning to prepare your meals in advance, really does help you stay on track. 5) weigh everything (Food), it might feel like a chore at first, but you don't notice it after a while. List of Things I now Enjoy: 1) I love walking my old pooch along the sand when the sun is out (rare occasion), so as soon as its sunny, I'm off. 2) I Love the shaky feeling I get when leaving the gym, It lets me know I've had a darn good workout. 3) I love the complements I now get on how healthy my skin looks, and how slim I look :D 4) I love trying on an item of clothing and seeing how baggy it got. 5) I love how great I feel when I chose to eat a healthy meal when out with friends or family. 6) I love being able to chose a more darning outfit, which I would never of been seen dead in before, and it looking great on me. |
Have learned that stepping on the scale when bored isn't good for me. Seems like I might be heaviest in the morning. Makes me wonder if that's a 'dead weight' kind of feeling. I have found right before lunch makes me feel the most postive. I have gained a pound and lost .6 of it. So I am still pretty much just down 5 from my start weight. XD It will be nice to see how things keep going over time rather than trying judge one or two weeks.
Been caving to the fast food a bit more. But that was my soda addiction coming through. It went from no soda in the house to yes let's go out to eat that's when I let myself have a soda. Which would have been like twice a week. But suddly jumped to like every other day and failed my diet plan in other areas. Silly me. I have also been finding it harder to keep up with my blogs and facebook album (of my walks). I think I need to re focus and maybe drop some of it. OCD is rough on me. |
hi all
what I have been up to - planning a performance means resizing a costume - taken a fair chunk of time group deciding on said costume now hopefully have it refitted am walking aiming for 10,000-15,000 steps per day - going for a few extra on the weekend - ok so around 20,000 on weekends to celebrate getting under the 100kg mark have purchased a 2nd had iPhone (no way in heck could have gotten it new) from a person who couldn't drive it ... so score for me paid about 10% its purchase price and hardly used all going now... Phae1963 - 45000 in one day um yes Mad/crazy about covers it need to start doing that yoga again - lost focus on it must redo .... might switch up some of the harder parts have signed up to Nike trainer club and trying there workouts but the yoga is good for stretch so its a must do scotsgal sounds like you are picking up a fair bit = cool your getting to the gym sugar2go nice to see you posting again congrats on your soon to be an aunty (even if its again still cool) and love your list of lessons learnt Echoluv - make your ocd work for you figure out what you want to update and when schedule it in and perhaps do each once a week - apart from your food tracker and main support keep those to daily |
Just popping in :D New Challenge is up and ready for anyone to join in. Just using it as tracking for some, accountability for others.
So I burned just shy of 1000 calories yesterday going to the gym twice, still couldn't get on a darn rack yesterday. I think the sun came out and everyone decided to go workout  means It's far too busy sometimes for a workout. But I got some stuff done. This morning I weighed in up .4 but I think that might be because I drank a tonne of water all day and I had an extra banana that pushed me over calories when I didn't have them to spare, I can imagine my workout weight kicking in by tomorrow though which will hopefully be that 271 I really want . Today I am suffering from some full body DOMS, so the plan is to take the pooch for a walk after lunch time, do some foam rolling, maybe do a workout later on. Not sure..... Ill see how I feel. Set myself an inch target for the Here comes the Sun Challenge.... I really want to lose 2 inches off of my tummy, considering the challenge ends as I go to Germany on tour again. Want to look and feel great for then. |
Hi everybody,
still not much time to be around, but wanted to let you know that my mood is back to normal again. I think the main thing about these "body failures" that stresses me out is that I can't really start to do some sports, and even walking is more painful than it should be. But so I stick to weightloss first and start forming afterwards. Today I'll do something nice and get new colour for my hair - at the beginning it was a gift for losing the first 10 kg, but as I regained about a pound i say it's just for going on and fighting on. Scotsgal - thanks for your Kind words and lists. Of course there is so much we gain from losing weight, but some times I'm at a loss for some days until I start like a bug that fell on his back and needs all his power to crawl back on his stomach again. You have to tell me when you are around in Germany - I really have to come and see you perform! Karencat - congrats to your "new" Iphone..I hope it makes you happy - and of course congrats to your fantastic weight loss. |
Karen - Yay for the Iphone. I only got mine because my mother upgraded to the newer model. Other than that I would still have a flip phone :)
Scotsgal- I learned so much about myself this time. I am even finding that I rather go to the gym than just sit at home. Sugar2go- What hair color did you pick? I am glad you are back in better spirits. As for me... its TOM and who would have thunk but working out has made it better (4 days since Sunday). I usually gain 2-4lbs during TOM and true to form I am up 3. I am hoping by the first day of the challenge it is back down. I even walked 5k in 1 hr 2 min. It's the first time I was able to do it in one go. I did have to stop once to shake the rocks out of my shoes. I hope you ladies are having a wonderful week. Got Dentist and Doctor visits tomorrow so I hope to get over 10,000 steps tomorrow. |
Went to the gym yesterday, not sure if I have Back Doms, or I just actually hurt myself, but I have been sore since. Went a walk last night to get my calories up and burned, today I haven't done any workouts, just house work to keep my heart rate elevated. Also had a little too many calories today and hoping that it doesn't hugely affect my scale tomorrow.
Sugar2go Check out the shows Facebook page, they just posted their winter schedule today. They are called "The Scottish Music Parade", and the picture shows it written in German. I am actually on the cover photo . Looking at the shows in relation to Stuttgart, The first and last show of the season are the two closest to you. We have lots more in the East this year and then lots around Bonn, Bielefeld and Hamburg. Not very often in your area for some reason. If you are into scottish music then the show would be worth it!! Wednesday, 15.11.2017 8pm Neu-Ulm Ratiopharm Arena Monday, 18.12.2017 8pm Darmstadt Darmstadtium |
Not doing so well last couple days. Been having one of those um been eating all the good days not good and only one day until weigh in....
|
Karen- you can do this. Just look how far you have come :) You are where I want to be in the future. I have a note on my mirror that says "Bad Day? Its over. Chuck it in the f**k it bucket and move on! " It's crude, I know, but I tend to wallow in the bad days. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that it's just one or two days out of many. It's okay.
As for me... I have officially lost 30lbs. I still have a long road ahead of me but this works. |
I choose Love it  Might use it myself  Well done on the loss, that is fantastic
me Been mindless eating the last few days, need to get a grip |
ichoose2believe: congrats! I love the sentiment of the quote. Its over..time to keep moving forward :)
Feeling pretty down again. It started snowing and all of my new found energy just melted away. BUT....today it going to be better. Just finished up a 6 night work stretch and today I'm officially starting my mini vacation. Nothing fancy just going to a waterpark/hotel a few hours away. I'm hoping the change of pace will help. Have a good week everyone! |
IChoose .. thank you - love the sentiment too... so pretty much did just that .. got Under control and managed a nice little 2 pounds discarded never to be found again!
Scotsgal hope you were able to get back on focus too! so anyway tons of walking and about what felt like 3 x 8 oz bottles of water.... a short run (BUT remember I DONT RUN!) got back on track... |
Came back down to my lowest this morning which was a relief after the mindless eating. I have a busy day planed today, so hoping to be able to burn off today and tomorrow to have a loss at weigh in on Wednesday. Looking for just 1 full lb, in fact 1.1lbs would be even better
|
hi everyone...just greatings out of the hospital. I couldn't move in saturday and it didn't geht better, now they keep me for a pain therapy...if that doesn't work out they'll do an operation for the damaged spinal disc..
at least the food is boring;)... i hope you're all doing find so far vor find the power to fight in!! |
Wow its kind of dead in here.
Sugar2go: I hope everything works out. My dad had back surgery a few years ago and i understand how painful that can be. My family vacation was fun! My dad finally got some pain relief by relaxing in the hot tub. I got to exercise off all of my bad food choices (road trip food is tasty but calorie high) by chasing my toddler around the waterpark. My husband just enjoyed being off work. Plus we didn't end up with a foot of snow :) Back to the grind. My hubby got me a food processor so making my pico has been easier. Plus i can make my own cauliflower rice... chopping it by hand is a messy job. |

I have 150 pounds to lose and I've tried SOOOO many things. And they normally work! But I always give up! I cave in and beat myself up for failing, so I binge and screw up my whole program and gain it all back plus some, but I truly feel medifast is different and I can't handle how excited I am. I'm only 3 weeks in and ready for at least another year! I LOVE pages like this one, ridiculously helpful and always keeping things fresh! I've been searching everywhere for a GROUP on fb similar to this, but not a page, a group, where people can all post their struggles and questions and successes, and it just doesn't exist! So I've created one!! Please, anyone and everyone feel free to join! Nothing helps me more than to be constantly in contact with fellow medifasters! the group is called "medifast community support", come join!!

I have managed to squirm my way down to 213 pounds Bought a size 16 & 14 dress first time in last 25 years I Have been able to do that! |
Hello Everyone,
I have had a very strange and busy week. My mum was scheduled in to have her gallbladder taken out on Friday morning, which went well, but she didn't come out of the anaesthetic as quick as they hoped, so they kept her in over night. Then My sister went into labour on Saturday night and had her 3rd, Little baby Eoghan (Owen), I now have 2 nieces and 2 lbs nephews and he is adorable, I can't believe how small they are, I don't remember the other 3 being so tiny. He was 7lb 10 and what a tiny little bundle of cuteness. I also had a memorial lunch with my family on Sunday as it is my papa's 16th anniversary of his death, he was an absolute legend, so we like to meet up and have good food and wine and just laugh at stuff. So on Monday Morning I weighed in at 274.7 :o (2.7lbs up). Tuesday I had managed to get it down to 273.1 after burning nearly 1000 calories in exercise on Monday. I then relaxed with a friend yesterday before weighing in at 272.9 this morning. I am fed up of these 272's been here for a month or so. I have some serious catching up to do, as I am meant to be at around 269 by today  so here I am playing catch up all over again. I really need to find some motivation from somewhere. Gym all week possibly. Today I will be back at it and stay for longer in hope of burning a little extra. Sugar Aww I hope you get better soon , its not great when you aren't 100% Ruby I am glad you enjoyed your break away and that your dad got some relief with the hot tub, they are wonderful things aren't they. I really should think about making some Pico, I love it!! Will need to find a good recipe. Msemilyrose11 I am not on Medi fast (I actually had to google it), as I am not American. I know quite a few people who do similar types of programmes and it works well for them. For me, they make me bloat so badly  with all the shakes and soups and stuff, not sure if I maybe have a dairy intolerance, but I get the same with all shakes, especially protein shakes . I started last year at 323lbs and I am now lbs down, my target is 168, so its 155lbs that I need to lose in total. Its a tough gig, and I wish I started it earlier. My aim was always to lose about 52lbs a year (1lb a week), as with the benefit of not yet being 30, I am hoping to reduce the possibility of badly lose skin. Karen Well Done!!! That is awesome!! I am currently in size 14 jeans which is the best feeling ever, my breasticles do not allow me yet to get under an 18 yet though :(. Your are doing great though! |
Sorry everyone.....
Hello everyone, I am so sorry I didn't get on at all last month and now here it is the 25th of March and I am just checking in. My life has been crazy...kids...school...animals...relationships..s o much has been going on. I have been barely able to keep up on my school work and the basics at the house. In this craziness I have also had a really hard time eating right. But I have been trying to be very careful even if I can't get a good meal and have to stop at a fast food place, I try to watch my portions very carefully. I stepped on the scale last night for the first time since my doctors appointment at the beginning of the month and I have still lost....not much..But I am down 4 lbs to exactly 300 according to my scale at home. I am so close.....I am suppose to be at 290 by my next appointment which is either in late April or early May. I try to do 2 lbs a week but I haven't even been able to get to the gym. I hope I can start going regularly again this coming week. I am going to try something a little different to see if it will kick start a larger weight loss cause I always have a hard time getting past 300. I am going to try and swim at least a mile a week. And do lighter cardio on the machines. If anyone has any tips on how to get past a plateau I'd appreciate it. I am in between classes right now So I didn't get a chance to read everyone's March posts but I will try to get to it before the end of the month....lol I really hope everyone is doing well and continuing to work toward their goals. Again I am so sorry I haven't been on just been crazy trying to get through life right now. Thanks all ttys
|
Nerdbling. Try upping water and eating more protein also have dinner at breakfast and Breakfast for dinner has helped for me in the past good luck breaking through the 300!
Scotsgal sounds like winning on many different fronts 😉 Family not weight loss that is Hope you break that barrier I had a run in with 🍕 🍪 🍫 yesterday Today I need to be 💯 % focusing on my program and staying on track as weigh in in the morning tomorrow for me |
Sorry I have been a little buy lately, the little baby is soo cute :D had lots of birthdays and it was British Mothers Day on Sunday just there so we went out for food. I have been sitting at 272 every Wednesday weight in for a month  but I also know I have been over my calories even by just 100cal most days. So I went to the Gym on Wednesday and had only 30 mins before I gave in, yesterday I took the dog out for a walk, again only 30 mins before I gave in. Today I am hoping to hit at the very least 40 mins in the gym and build it back up to the hour. Its just been really busy and I can't get my proper workout done when nothing is free . Anyway, food yesterday was good, under 1500cals, and today I weighed in at 271.6 :o I actually had to double take. I passed it!!
However.... Mum has been talking all month about having a Chinese takeaway tonight, (always a beef n mushroom with rice) we share the one meal, so I hope that it doesnt push me over the edge, so I need to get a good workout today. I am also going to lunch for my sisters 30th birthday to a world buffet :o not always a great choice with me . So I am hoping it is a nice morning tomorrow for a run before going to lunch, then I can imagine not eating all day afterwards. Fingers crossed I don't ruin my new low. nerdbling Completely understand when life just gets in the way a bit. I have had many plateaus, most of them actually being due to not eating enough, which sounds ridiculous, but if you feel that you are eating right for the exercise you do, then bringing in the swimming is a great idea. My body gets used to a workout so quickly, I cant do the same exercise for more than 6 weeks before I start to plateau and need something new to work on. My new addition is running  I never thought I would say that I was running  but I really want to run a 10 min mile and use that as a cardio workout as I usually so strength in the gym. Let us know how it goes! Karencat How is your routine going? any more recent run ins?? |
So I'm new to this thread obviously. I just joined Weight Watchers yesterday and I'm so glad that I've found this site as a way of motivating myself.
So a little bit about me... My fiance and I started trying to conceive back in November. So far we have not had any luck because I am not having my period (sorry for the TMI!). I have PCOS. I cannot take birth control or hormones anymore because I had a pulmonary embolism back in September because of my Nuvaring. My mom has been on a health kick for about 6 months or so and I finally guess I'm ready to start getting on one as well. I know that until I lose weight and get my PCOS under control, I will not be able to have babies. That is my motivation. I do have a few other non-weight related goals as well though: I would like to be able to sit in my bathtub and not stop the flow of the water because of my hips sealing off the water against the tub. I would like to be able to go to an amusement park and not worry if I will fit on the roller coasters. I would like to be able to fly somewhere and not worry if I will fit in the seats. I would love to steal my boyfriends large tshirts and wear his jackets and hoodies without them being too small. I want to be able to shop at Walmart again for jeans. They used to fit me so well but now I've outgrown the sizes. The size 26 pants fit more like 24's. I want to feel more confident naked. I would love to get rid of my double chin so I don't have to hate pictures that are taken of me that aren't angled from above. I want to feel absolutely beautiful and love the way I look on my wedding day! I'm just trying to get motivated. I see my mom being so successful and I want to have kids but I just have no energy to go work out. I am still recovering from my pulmonary embolism in that manner. Any tips on how to get and stay motivated? I have all of these things that I have to look forward to once I lose the weight, I just have to be able to see all of that in order to feel motivated. Any tips or advice is MORE than welcome! Heather |
So I've had a fat weekend after hitting a new low on Friday, I have ballooned up a few lbs, but I feel that some of that is salt intake and obviously too many carbs. I also have doms from the gym on Friday, but it makes me want to get up tomorrow and work hard to get it back off and then some.
Zassy Welcome!!! Sometimes it takes a specific moment in life to be enough of a trigger to get your butt in gear. For you..... It will be the outcome of weight gain and PCOS, which I am so sorry that you are in. But it will mean that you are determined. So don't change everything so dramatically, I have learned that slow changes lead to continuous loss. I started my journey last January, My aim was to lose 1lb a week for 3 years to bring me from 323lbs to 168lbs by the time I turn 30 in January 2019. I have lost 54lbs so far so I am a little behind  but I can't believe how far I have come, I did a full year of diet only, some extra walking but no gym. It was only this year that I started the gym and I am started to really like it. It is all about making small changes that will stay for a lifetime, fresh meat, fresh veg, fresh potatoes, lots of water and you will start to see the scale move in the right direction. I hope it works really well! keep us all posted. |
Thanks for the welcome! I am officially starting fresh today. I completely blew it over the weekend. I hate that I've already messed up this early in the game. I do like starting things at the beginning of the week though *sigh*. I just am having cravings like CRAZY! I just want to eat ALL the food I come across. It sucks so bad. What do y'all do to get past your cravings like that?

Zassy It totally depends on what you are craving I suppose, and working out why you are craving it. Have you went from eating high sugar to next to none and your body is actually detoxing? Same with salt? Packing yourself up with water will actually make you feel fuller and help flush it all out. Are your meals big enough? to prevent you wanting to snack as quickly? Are you bored? (the boredom one sucks) Or is it a real craving because you have cut out all sugar snacks?
A wise man once said... that if you take 10% of you daily calories, and treat yourself to something that you crave every single day, you are less likely to fall off the wagon and binge. For example.... say you LOVE cookies. Imagine you were on a 1500 calorie diet, and 2 cookies were 150 calories. Then at like 3pm every single day, have those 2 cookies and count them into your diet, you don't feel as cheated out of what you like, so you are more prone to eat healthy all day knowing you have those to look forward to. It will work for some, it wont for others, but you need to learn what is proportional, so that when the weekend does come, and say its a birthday. You can have a piece of cake, enjoy the party, just know what your limit is. Your weight loss will be the most educational journey you may of ever been on. Its all about listening to your body, getting to know it, working out why it does what it does, you want to go from eating mindlessly.... to eating to fuel your body. Jump into a few challenges on here and see if you feel it motivates you :D |
Scotsgal, where was that wise man all my life?
Those sound like some pretty wise words from you also. Too bad it took me over 50 years to figure that out. |
Ubee its just something I wish was explained to me years ago. I spent a long time ignoring what my body was telling me, Now I know that I can't over indulge in dairy or ill become a farting queen , I also cannot eat pasta without gaining about 2lbs. I also need to drink a pint of water before my breakfast or ill be dehydrated for the rest of the day. I also cannot eat a Domino's pizza, because my body cannot handle the fat% and Ill spend the rest of the night in the loo. I also know that when I eat 6 days of 1500 calorie fresh food and work my butt off in the gym, on the 7th or 8th day I could physically eat every bit of food not nailed down, my body is actually HANGRY! So I need to have a day of about 1700 every 4th day or so to stop me from falling off and eating all the wrong foods.
I have really got into my chocolate covered rice cakes.... I love them :D and only about 80 calories. So I have one at about 2pm and then at about 3.45 I will have some high protein greek yog with a drizzle of honey and cinnamon, then dinner at about 6.30-7pm. I really look forward to my snacks :D |
I like that wise man Scotsgal. My current philosophy is everything in moderation. I eat what I wants as long as i stay in my daily calorie goal.
Sorry I've been missing! Its been rough around here. My daughter caught her first flu and then passed it on to me and my husband(...its my fault I've been trying to teach her to share). I lost an amazing 5 pounds in 3 days. BUT then our stove got turned off and our landlord took 2 weeks to get it fixed. Its hard to stay in count when your eating fast food or microwave food all day every day. I have weigh in today so hopefully I at least maintained. |
Aww the first flu is awful. I hope you are all starting to feel better Ruby.
Soldiering on across the pond here. I have a very long drive to go up to see my sisters hopeful wedding venue for next year. She was meant to be getting married in Italy, but we found out that the grooms mum isnt cleared medically to fly, so we have a year to re book a wedding :( lots of planning on my part as MOH and the family organisational freak. So its been a bit stressful here doing all of that. Going to stay good all weekend and Hope to see 268 or less by Monday :D |
