:newyear::newyear: HAPPY NEW YEARS LADIES!!!! :newyear::newyear:

I cant believe its 2015 ... I remember being in high school and thinking that the world was just going to collapse when the clock hit midnight for 2000 and now 15 years later here we are still .... Time nowadays just seems to fly but I swear thats because Im in an area where everyone just seems to be moving with a GO GO GO mentality. I grew up in the country with my grandparents where we enjoyed the simple things like sitting on the porch, staring at the sun, fishing on the lake, etc and now here I am in Washington D.C. :(

Anyhow no need to ramble .... I just wanted to wish you all a wonderful new year and I look forward to seeing/supporting each of you along your journeys.

Ubee 01-01-2015 06:36 AM

Happy 2015! Let's make it a healthy and happy one! :celebrate:

Terra thanks for starting a new thread. How was your New Years eve? Did you stay up to watch the ball drop?
Tami I love the slow paced life. I really have to fight the peer pressure to join the rest of the world in their rat race.
Betsy, I did not get 10 pounds off but I did get 8 so I am very pleased!
Sam back at it today?
I feel so peaceful and content this morning. I have so much to be grateful for. I would be even more happy to see more of my old friends on here along with new. This site has been crucial to me taking my weight off, stopping regains, and staying committed to a lifetime of taking care of my health.
May God Bless you all. :grouphug:

I AM SOOOOO EXCITED!
I was up until 5am having tried to go to bed at sleep around 12.15 (Happy New Year my lovelies!) My brain was going about a million miles per hour so I got out of bed and started to write and couldn't stop!
I am just working on the appropriate "writing muscles" at the moment. I am a bit out of practice so it is good discipline. Being something of a dinosaur I use a pencil and paper (me and Roald Dahl huh?)....using a computer just doesn't feel the same!I know that at some point I will have to submit electronically!
Ubee....well done ....and at this time of year that is amazing. I loved your post...so positive and uplifting....we can all do with counting blessings more than stresses! It is amazing how keen other people are to get us back in the rat race isn't it? I think alot of it stems from envy because they don't have the courage to drop out of it themselves.
Betsy....I wanted to say thank you for all the positivity in your posts....I feel I am in the company of Wise Owls!
TOgden.......your childhood sounds lovely. My DH was brought up on his Grandparent's farm and had just about the most idyllic life you could imagine! I really didn't. What a difference that makes to my appreciation of the countryside I live in now.
Terra....Happy New Year...hope you get your snooze later!
I have made a resolution not to make resolutions but am making a good start with healthy eating........back to the gym and Welsh lessons next week and a regular time each day for an hour of writing.
Can anybody give me advice about a site to set up a blog?
Arctic Sam Fi and everybody else I may have missed......thank you for being there in 2014 and I look forward to 2015 with you!!
Donna :D:D:D

Ubee ~ My new years eve was good. I did not stay up and bring it the new year, I was just too tired :(

Donna ~ Yes I did take a nap earlier today

Bllondy 01-01-2015 10:20 PM

hi everyone! It has been a very long time since I have posted anything on this site. For that I apologize. I have been so incredibly busy with packing and moving and cleaning and then some more cleaning. Unfortunately, the sellers of our house left it pretty messy. As in, very gross in certain areas. I don't know how many pets they had, but there is so much pet hair all over the house and suspicious stains on the walls and kitchen floor. I was pretty grossed out. However, aside from all the cleaning, my husband and I are absolutely loving our new home! We are so thrilled and so thankful to God for our first home! What an amazing Christmas present. We closed on the house on the 19th of December, and were able to start moving in on Christmas Eve. It took us about 4 days to finish packing and move all of our things from the apartment to the house. I swear, our belongings multiplied the more I packed. Towards the end, I just wanted to throw everything away! :-) I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and awesome new year. We are set to have our internet hooked up next week so I will be signing in and posting more often. Right now I only have my phone to login with. Here's to a successful 2015!! :celebrate:

By the way, I lost 3 more pounds last week! Yay for moving and carrying heavy boxes.. haha

Terra1984 01-02-2015 08:25 AM

Bllondy ~ Congrats on losing 3 pounds

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Woke up at 3 a.m. this morning, I was hoping to not wake up until 6 a.m. but oh well I guess. Its now 7:23 a.m. and I just got done doing the morning dishes, My brother fixed breakfast for everyone this morning. My plans for today are to do my laundry in between doing my morning and after exercises. At 2 today we are gonna go do our running around and go to Walmart to do our monthly food and non-food shopping and those are all of my plans for today.
betsy2013 01-02-2015 12:50 PM
Happy 2015! Hope everyone had a great entry into the new year in whatever manner you celebrated......including not celebrating at all!
Tami -- Your growing up sounds a lot like mine.....although there are a few decades in between! Hope 2015 is especially good for you.
Ubee -- 8 pounds off. You won! I got off the 10, but the old yo-yo hit me and I had regained it all by the end of the month again.....actually over a 3 day period. Definitely need to work on my one-day-at-a-time philosophy so that I stop with the craziness. Peaceful and content is wonderful -- everyone must have gone home from the holidays and you can actually take a moment again. Love the holidays in so many ways, but it's always a sense of relief when life goes back into its usual routine.
Donna -- WOW! You sound so excited and revved up. Can't imagine doing all that writing by hand, but you sound so productive and like there's a part of you that has been buried deep inside that is coming to the surface and breaking free. I just googled blog sites comparison and lots came up. Some evidently charge, some are free, etc. Once you get one set up, please share with us!
Terra -- I doubt if you were the only person to hit the hay before the new year rolled around officially. My view is that it was already 2015 some place in the world even if I didn't make it until midnight!
Bllondy -- In your new home! And 3 pounds off! Sounds like 2015 is off to a great start for you. Enjoy this time -- even if it is an unbelievable amount of work -- and setting up your first home. It is so exciting to make it just the way you want it. Sorry that the old owners didn't leave it in pristine condition. Some people just weren't raised right.
I'm going to clean house today and tomorrow I will clean out the garage because the boys are coming on Sunday to haul stuff to the dump. Several doctors' appointments next week, take the car in to be serviced, and the work I'm having done on the house starts. I will be happy when the end of January comes and all of this is done.
Definitely getting back into eating better after my snafu with my yo-yoing. Now I need to just figure out how to yo with no yoing! Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
SamIAm86 01-02-2015 04:03 PM
Hey Everyone!
Back to my normal self today. Eating on plan and went to the gym. My goal is to do tons of cardio to get this extra weight off I gained over the holidays. Not happy about it but going on vacation and dealing with TOM is was really hard to fight temptations. It's not an excuse so please know I'm back in the saddle and doing what I need to lose this weight. I've got 2 weeks until my anniversary so I want to do my very best.
I got my hair done today...I had a good friend of mine do it and I'm in love!! Check it out! http://instagram.com/p/xXWtn5J3D_/
Tonight I'm just gonna chill with DH maybe play some games on our new Wii U we got for chrismas...he has to work tomorrow and I'm going clothes shopping with my mom and gma as a belated birthday present from them.
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their day!!
TreatYoSelf 01-02-2015 04:38 PM
I'm down 5 pounds for this week. Had my "free meal" for lunch- a steak burrito bowl from Chipotle and it was yummmm. I don't really believe in cheat meals because I don't cheat on a lifestyle change but I'm also trying to feel too deprived. It's definitely a tough balance to maintain!
Ubee 01-02-2015 05:03 PM
Good Afternoon!
Finally found a tiny bit of quiet time!
Treat finding that balance is the trick to losing and maintaining. Good job on the 5 pounds down.
Sam my jaw dropped when I saw your picture. It just keeps getting better and better. Keep up the good work girlfriend. See you tomorrow?
Betsy you were not playing nice with your yo-yo so I am taking it away from you and throwing it into the wood stove with mine never to be seen again! Let's get that garage done and house spruced up so we can finish mine up this Spring.
Terra what did you all buy for your meals this month?
Bllondy a new house and 3 pounds down? Well done. We do all have too much stuff don't we?
Donna I am glad you have found your passion again. Use some of that energy for weight loss and you will be looking so fine for your daughters wedding!
I am doing well and even amazing myself. It is going to get very cold so we have stocked up on healthy foods and activities for our daughter to help fight off cabin fever.
Have a peaceful day.
mountain walker 01-03-2015 07:25 AM
Sam ...what a lovely picture....your hair suits you like that!
Bllondy...how are the brown boxes going? They day after we moved to our current home, I sat and cried at the amount of brown boxes I had to plough through! Even though I am now in a much better place I think I would still find unpacking a bit daunting....and you have managed to lose weight too!
Treat....well done on your weight loss....not easy at this time of year!
Betsy....why are you reading this and not in your garage?
Ubee...can I throw my yo yo in the fire too? In fact mine was a yo-yo-yo-yo-yo-yo- so it may take some getting rid of!
I know this sounds a bit bah-humbug but I am looking forward to getting in to a bit of a routine next week when the decs are down and normal service is resumed. We had a lovely Christmas but I am excited about the opportunities this year will bring...for the first time I can remember!
Have a great day ladies
Donna:hug::hug::hug:
Terra1984 01-03-2015 08:24 AM
Woke up at 5:00 a.m. this morning. Its now 6:40 a.m. I'm waiting for my nephew and sister in law to wake up so I can go downstairs and finish my laundry. Right now I'm watching Mike and Molly cause I'm a huge new fan of Melissa McCarthy. I'm also posting on here and on my own forum while reading and replying to emails. As always my plans for today are to get my morning chair exercises done and get my 30 min walking dvd done and my 40 min. chair exercises this evening and thats it. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.
betsy2013 01-03-2015 12:21 PM
Good morning all. It's a typical mid-winter morning here: cool to chilly, overcast with low wispy clouds hanging around the ridges. I'm doing my morning exercise as Toby has wanted to go out on the deck five times, and it's just too cold to leave the door open. He goes out on the deck and patrols -- he takes his duties as watch dog very seriously!
Sam -- Loved your new hair do and the close up of your face. You are a beautiful young woman -- inside and out! Glad you're back into your routine. Please bottle it and send some to me.
TreatYoSelf -- 5 pounds is wonderful! I yo-yo back and forth in my thinking (and my weight!!!!) in deciding whether I consider having an off plan meal as a cheat or just something I need to learn how to handle. Theory says that nothing should be off limits and the key is learning to eat in moderation with controlled portions. The reality for some of us (that would be moi) is that once the off plan foods are tasted it's like this eating machine takes over my body. Have you experienced any of that at all? What are your secrets for limiting the intake and getting back to only on plan foods?
Ubee -- Maybe burning that yo-yo is a good idea......the only problem being that the main part of the yo-yo seems to be attached to my arm. Or my neck since I think 95% of this is thinking and then rationalizing. Hope you have a wonderful day even if you do have to stay inside because of the weather being too cold.
Donna -- And the garage still awaits. However, it has to get done today as the boys are coming tomorrow to haul the stuff to the dump. Procrastination thy name is Betsy! Totally understand your Bah Humbug mentality. I have started taking down the decorations immediately after Christmas (like on the 26th). I even considered doing it before Christmas since we always go up to the older nephew's for the day, but that would have required action and so I waited until the 28th. It feels so good to get back into my normal routine. I, too, feel very positive about this year. Let's make it the year of the Chicks.
Terra -- I'm in awe of your meal planning. I usually realize about 3 in the afternoon that defrosting something would have helped with meal preparation.
I really am going to tackle the garage today. And I've planned out the meals for today and have a start on the menu for tomorrow when everyone is here. It's going to be a busy, busy week, so maybe I'll be able to actually drop a pound or two or three. Have a great day.
It's good to be taking stylus in hand to write a posting—in my usual position on the green futon, looking out the big mullioned window at the front of our house (44 panes!—> people think we should replace it with something more energy-conserving, but I am fighting hard for leavin' it the same). Bllondy, I really identify with your enthusiasm over buying your first house, even though in May it will be 20 years since Bob and I took that big step. He's a botanist who studies trees, and he had been admiring the grass-free back yard of this house on his bike rides to NASA, where he used to work. It's quite different from the other houses in our cul-de-sac—really a small forest, not a yard. When the "For Sale by Owner" sign went up, he was elated. We didn't even look at any other house: we just walked into this one, looked out the back windows onto that forest, and asked, "Where do we sign?" And we've never regretted it for an instant.
I'll telll you what I do regret, though. Last Saturday night Bob and I did something very, very stupid. If you ever had any thoughts about my seeming to be an intelligent person, you can just throw those thoughts in the trash can right now. Around December 26th or so I had had nausea & vomiting and was losing fluids out the other end for days. I was starting to feel, to know that I was getting seriously dehydrated. So we did this very, very stupid thing: we took me to an E.R. On a Saturday night. At the height, or at least the beginning of the height, of respiratory virus season in the D.C. area. I should have suspected we had made a mistake when I noticed (1) everyone else there was either coughing or with a child or elderly person who was coughing, and (2) the two bathrooms were hardly being used, and in fact were refreshingly clean. And in the blank for "triage" on my admission form, the nurse had written "3"—the lowest level, the level where you don't do anything for the person and just hope they will go away.
Around 2-3 hours later, after making several hundred trips, in a wheelchair (that's how drained I was), to those clean bathrooms, and not having been seen by a doctor, the light finally dawned in my head—if not outside yet. I said to Bob, "We're gettin' out of here" and we left. I couldn't get out of that place fast enough.
But as it turned out, we should have turned right in our tracks at the beginning: Bob and I had just succeeded in exposing a dehydrated person whose immune system was flagging (that would be me) to just about every nasty urban critter that attacks people in their lower respiratory system that was trollin' the hospital scene that night. Doh!! =hits self on head=
We got home, came to our senses about my acute need for fluid and electrolyte replacement, put me on the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apple sauce & toast), gave me some Lomotil, and fixed that situation pretty quickly. Bob just barely made it to the all-night grocery store to get those supplies during the tiny little window before he got very sick with a chest cold, and by the time my G.I. bug was on the run, I was coughing, too.
Oh man am I sick. I don't know if it's the flu or just a garden-variety cold virus, but ohmygod the muscle and joint pains are killin' me. We were exposed to so many coughing people, we don't even know if we have the same bug!
I'm too sick, in fact, to write any more. At least now you know what I've been up to: being very, very stupid. Sam, I can't believe how amazing you look, rockin' your new do in your Iron Maiden tee: way to go, girl!!
