weigh in
I am going to go weigh in tomorrow for the first time and I am nervous! If i lost weight great but if not the I have, yet again, failed. I wish I could just get to the point where I could realize that one weigh in doesn't make me or break me. Thanks for listening just needed to vent.

Set a small goal for yourself. (ex. drinking a glass of water before each meal or put veggies on your plate first) Go for that goal, achieve it then set another one. You will prove to yourself you can do it! :)

I understand your frustration. Yesterday I was 327 and today I was 329. I don't like my scale at all lol, I think it lies to me. I did weight myself during the day for the 329 reading, and I drink a LOT of water, so it could just be that. It really sucks, because I have eaten anything I've wanted for 21 years, so the fact that I am eating salads and fruits and vegetables (pretty much choking it down) and hardly seeing results I can be sure about makes me a little angry. I'm not going to quit, because this is my first month and I know I will get there if I try my hardest. My biggest challenge is changing my ways, the same habits and routines I have had with eating for my entire life. I use to enjoy salad and certain fruits and vegetables, but now that it is all I allow myself to eat, it doesn't taste as good, lol. I think my body is in a way detoxing from the years and years of bad food. I am going slow though, because I don't want to overwhelm myself.
Pick a few rules for yourself, like a calorie limit, exercising a certain amount of hours a week, water intake or even no eating after a certain time at night. As long as you know in your heart and are honest with yourself that you are sticking to your plan, the scale really won't matter. I bet if we stuck to our plans and worked our butts off and put away the scale for 6 months, the next time we hopped on it, we'd be blown away by the results. :) |
I have faith that the outcome won't be as bad as you think...
I agree with Slush... stay true to yourself and work on this for 6 months and then jump on the scales or look back at how far you have come. I am going for that. I do check the scales out but I decided that I am going to hang in there with this for at least a year and see how much difference I can make in my life and body. We can do this!!! We can all do it together.:D |
Even if the scale doesn't budge, it doesn't mean you are not losing weight. Many factors affect the scale from showing lower numbers, such as water weight for example!

Regardless...
Of what the scale says you are not a failure.
Did you make a choice to try and lose weight? Yes! Success! Did you try and stick to a change in routine that was radically different than what you are used to? Yes! Success! Have you made a mental shift to this being a lifestyle change rather than a diet? (All food is a diet just not necessarily a good one) Yes! Success! Did you reach out for support? Yes! Success! Are you prepared to face your fears and try to overcome them? Yes! Success! That's at least 5 successes that yo have had just by beginning this journey so one bad moment in the scale will not mean you have failed! Best of luck to you! |
I am so excited!!! I just go back from my first weigh in and I had 3.6 pounds this week.:carrot: Now I just have to figure out how to add a ticker to the bottom of my posts. lol
