Hi everybody
My name is Jennifer. I am 33. I started out at 304 pounds 10 days ago so I guess I can be a part of this club. I am at 289 now after 10 days on Medifast. I am trying to lose around 125 pounds total so I will be around a while.
I feel really good right now...I have not had to use Tums since I started and I used to use them ALL the time. I feel slimmer and less weighed down. I don't think I will ever get over my food addiction though. The first whole week I kept thinking...if I can just make it to March 20 (spring break) I can cheat then....but maybe I won't do that after all. I want to see how long I can go. It is hard to be around people who can eat all the things that made me fat, and they stay skinny...and being fat I feel like whenever I meet new people they just see me as this lazy fat slob....when really I am a pretty active person...well as active as I can be. I have arthritis in my knees...my hips were turned at birth and my parents did not opt for surgery and so I am all screwed up from waste down...muscles and whatnot. Its not a big deal but it makes it hard to exercise sometimes...I can't run or ride a bike. Anyways...I guess this will be a lifelong struggle for me...so I hope to become an active member of this group. |
:welcome2:
Congratulations on your loss so far! I need to lose about the same amount through my diet. I understand the difficulty of being around people who just stay skinny. My ENTIRE family (brothers, cousins, second cousins, uncles etc..) are all really skinny! Anywho best wishes! |
Thanks! Yeah my husband is skinny and he eats whatever he wants. He does not eat bad like my ex did but he can pretty much do whatever he wants and stays looking good. He does run a few times a week too. It is just what we are given at birth...you are either going to have a good metabolism or a bad one.
Congrats on your weight loss, I clicked on your progress pics and wow. You have done an amazing job. I will have to put a couple pics up from when I lost weight previously...it helps me to stay motivated! How are you doing it if I may ask? Calorie counting and exercise? |
I need 25 posts to post a picture...guess I better start posting more lol.

Thanks. I lost the first 30 pounds doing calorie counting/healthy eating & exercise. I ended up stalling for about half a year because I have a crazy thyroid and a doctor who never watched it very well (finally got a new doctor). I have lost of the rest of it by following the Ideal Protein diet plan through my clinic. I think it's kind of similar to medifast actually. I'm planning to stay with it until June of this summer and hoping it will take me down to 180-175 ish.

Ok yeah i have a friend who is doing that diet. Good luck with your goal! I hope your new doctor is better too. The medical system can be very frustrating when you are overweight. I feel I have gotten some pretty crappy care in the past. I have an appt with a new obgyn March 1 to find out about PCOS, my doctor thinks I have it. Would be sort of nice to know one way or the other finally. I definitely have some symptoms of it.

I love my new doc, she's been amazing so far. I've always felt like I don't get taken seriously by medical professionals (even dentists) because of my weight. I have a problem that my last MD would never even talk about with me. My new MD thought that the symptoms were due to PCOS as well, so I just went through all the blood work a couple months ago. It is nice to have an answer finally. Mine ended up being no PCOS which I'm grateful for. I don't have the main symptom that almost always occurs with PCOS anyway (just one of the other really annoying symptoms).

Congrats to you both!!!
