Hello :)

Hi guys. I'm new here. I'm about 305-310 pounds. I'm planning on losing weight by doing a lot of cardio and eating 5 times a day at the same time healthy things only. I want to stay away from fat and sugar.

Any advice?

ANiceChianti 10-06-2012 01:51 PM

Sounds nice and healthy.

Good luck with everything.

You can do it!

Don't get discouraged, take measurements, and keep trying everyday to be better then yesterday.

Welcome aboard. Best success to you!

Ok, as the day is almost over, I'll go over what I ate. (I didn't do much exercising because I lost my gym card).

I woke up at 8:45.

9 am : 1/5 cup of cereal, greek yoghurt 0%, a little bit of pecans, a little bit of almonds, dried cherries.

11:30 am : 100g of smoked salmon with fresh lemon juice and two piece of 2 piece of wasa

2:00 pm : a mango, a plum (big one), 8 baby carrots.

4:30 pm : weight watchers (?) salmon with rice meal. All I know is that it had 300 calories and it wasn't bad at all for something not home-cooked.

6:30 pm : Went for a short walk as it was getting dark outside. Walked for a mile.

7:00 pm : meat from 3 chicken drumsticks with fresh mushroom and onion sauce (almost like a mushroom and onion creme lol, I don't know how to call it).

:welcome2: again, TOM ~ your daily food intake looks good & tastey. Do you have any idea how much you are taking in (calories, I mean -- I'll guesstimate your menu at or below 1200); or are you just doing portions?

Gee, hope you find your gym card, but the walk is a good start as well. :carrot:

mark93 10-06-2012 08:57 PM

I've never been so eager to go to the gym as I was all day today. I was so disappointed when I couldn't find my card. -.-

yeah, I did count the calories.
1: 300-400 (pretty high because of the nuts)
2: 250
3: 200
4: 230 (Made a mistake in my first post. What I had was the wild Alaskan salmon fresh meal from weight watchers)
5: around 250

Throughout the day I was not hungry for a second. Before I ate my next meal I wasn't hungry at all. I usually get headaches when I don't eat for a longer period of time but since I ate 5 smaller meals two and a half hours apart from each other I didn't get a headache and I'm feeling great. I plan on eating at the same time every day. I'm so happy and excited for tomorrow. Need to buy a replecement card for my gym though. ;/

First day, morning workout. What a great way to start my day! I loved it!

I woke up a little bit late but managed to leave my house at 9:20 am.

Here's a wrap up of my morning exercise:

-Walked 1.25 mile to the gym in 23 minutes
-Elliptical for 21 minutes, 200 calories, 1 mile
-Did some biceps, back, chest exercises on the machines with very light weights 4x15 reps
-Elliptical for 9 minutes, 100 calories, .5 mile
-Treadmill for 15 minutes, 50 calories, .5 (walked really slow, wanted to lower my bpm)

I'll be doing more cardio during the day. I just hope I can lose A LOT of weight by spring.
-Walked back to my house 1.25 mile in 20 minutes.

That's a wonderful start, TOM ... I am aiming for some spring goals as well -- using each of the major holidays as benchmarks. My goals are a bit more modest than yours, but I'm doing my best. I weighed-in today and am down another 4 lbs -- I'm getting there, slowly :snail: but surely ... ;)

Have a great week ... :)

Hi and welcome!

I think you probably have this under control but... How much water are you drinking, and when are you drinking it?

mark93 10-09-2012 12:42 AM

I drank over 3 liters of water and I drank it whenever I was thirsty.

 That was cute, TOM -- ya, I eat when I'm hungry, and I sleep when I'm sleepy too .... ;) Have a nice day!

mark93 10-10-2012 12:07 AM

WELL!

I don't eat when I'm hungry! I eat whenever it's my time to eat! hahaha, thanks!

Welcome, Mark! As you get into the journey you'll certainly find a lot of challenges. You may find that 1200 calories is not enough -- you're not hungry now, but in a couple of weeks as the "diet high" fades, you may find that you struggle a lot. Heavier people need more calories just to live and 1200ish may not be enough (it's on the low end of what's recommended for small women).

I bet you could eat 2000 calories and lose 2-3 pounds a week at a steady clip. The best diets are the ones we can stick with.

And then you will find yourself wanting to find foods that help keep you full and that help you retain muscle mass or even build muscle (I'm guessing you'll want to start weight training too). Protein is very helpful here.

This site has lots of resources and I hope you find what you need!

HEATHER ~ I agree with ^that^ too. I think that heavier people should never go below 1500 calories -- that's why I was asking him if he was tracking how much he was taking in. 1800-2000 would be a good range to begin with, starting at the top end becuz men need more calories than women do. He would still lose well on that amount; and he doesn't want to lose too much muscle either, I'm sure. :)

BTW, I started at 2100 calories a day, and lowered it a bit as I lost weight.

I also found that not letting myself get hungry was a huge help. I am SOOO bad about not eating all day, and then being famished, and wolfing down everything in site. If I plan ahead, and keep yummy healthy snacks and a variety handy, its easier to stick to. Having several small meals during the day was probably the best thing I did for myself. Good luck to you!
