Kierra - I'm so happy that you followed through!! :)

Here's hoping the metformin can help you with your symptoms and weight loss journey!

I have to update that I am going back to my primary care doctor for a follow up visit today. My home scale says I have lost 12 pounds since my visit on May 2 so it will be interesting to note what the doctor says. I'm sure it will be less on the doctor scale because I was down 10 last week and I saw my gynecologist and his scale said I'd only lose 8 pounds. I've been following the Atkins diet and low carb has really started working for me. I feel better. I don't have upset stomachs and swollen feet anymore. I'm no longer depressed all the time. I feel so much better. I think a combo of metformin and low carbs is helping me. I've read both doctor atkin's new diet revolution and gary taubes 'why we get fat' this month and I think my insulin resistant body does not process carbs right so I have to watch them. I miss bread but I love seeing myself lose at least 2 pounds a week. It's slow but it feels good after so long of being unable to lose.

Oh yes I saw my gynecologist because after the last time I posted my primary care doctor called and said my pap smear was abnormal. I had the gardisil vaccination series before ever having sex but I still got a less common hpv strain it doesn't protect again. I now have to have paps every six months. Seeing the gyn was a blessing though because I'd had a yeast infection I'd been battling for 18 months and two diflucan pills it's gone. Plus he said I had bacterial vaginosis and after a week of metronidazol that's better. having those two things taken care of has made my husband happy too because sex before those were treated was not feeling so great anymore but now i feel like my old self.

My doctor's scale says 13 pounds down since May 2! Yay! My doctor credits the metformin and says he isn't a big atkins fan but I'm down 13 pounds in a month so he can't argue too much lol

That is great news, Kierra! :)

Just an update. I'm down 31 pounds since starting low carb in May. It's slowed to 1-2 pounds a week which I guess is pretty normal after the initial loss. I go back to see my doctor next month. I can't believe I'm really losing weight but I am.

That's wonderful!!! Good for you for going to the dr and for sticking with your plan! I love Atkins. I lost almost 150 lbs on it. And the longer you're on it the easier it gets...the carbs don't call your name quite as loudly. ;)

Kierra you have done so well to have picked yourself up from such a low point. Don't give the glory to Atkins or metformin......YOU have done that for yourself and your family.
Well done and keep us posted.:D
