Perception. Reality. Forgetting you've lost.
I just finished walking and was thinking that I needed to go grocery shopping, but I'd have to do laundry first since my jeans are dirty. Then it hit me. :o I don't have to do laundry. The jeans hanging out in my drawer aren't too small for me. They fit now.
I experienced something similar earlier this week. I've cleared the too-large clothing out of my closet. I bought a lot of things on sale over the past few years for "when I lose weight", and they've been hanging since then. I was looking for something to wear to work, and I wasn't sure why there weren't any shirts that would fit. Similar epiphany moment--those clothes *do* fit, so quit being weird. I can see that I'm smaller than I was, so it's not body dysmorphia. It's just an adjustment to be wearing the clothes that were "someday" and realizing that someday is now. |
How inspiring! Super yay for you, I can not wait for that to happen to me.

That's awesome! Congrats!

Way to go! How exciting! I wanted to add that I am still in size 26. :( I have big thighs, butt, and stomach... So not sure where you ladies carry your weight. However, I hope to go down to size 24 soon. I keep trying on a pair of 24s but they don't fit. I have been losing inches (I've been measuring weekly), but I guess not enough yet!!!! This gives me idea for a thread!

AZ Sunrises That's awesome! I had something similar a few weeks ago. I was at Target and was going to look at the clothes. I automatically went to the plus size department and started looking around. I got really frustrated! I could look at the clothes and see they were too big for me. I literally got angry because the clothes were too big looking. I think I thought they were starting to make the clothes bigger. This wasn't a clothing issue, a Target issue, it was my issue. I am now wearing regular sizes, which is very hard for me to grasp. I have been shopping in the plus size department for probably 75% of my life. I know where to look and what to look for in the plus size department. I just don't understand the other departments and styles. I am really lost now.

That is wonderful Diana! Congrats on your achievement as well. That should make you feel so proud. I can't wait to join you in the healthy size section!!!!

Mommysince21505 Thank you. You will be there, too. It's really weird, just like AZ Sunrises, described, you have this certain perception of yourself. You make all these changes, but your perception about yourself hasn't changed or caught up.
