I'm sorry about Ratkitty. Hopefully she is terrorizing one of my passed basset hounds right now.

Ratkitten - I'm so sorry evil kitty is gone. I'm glad you know she got to enjoy her last hours. I'm crying for you. I understand your heartache. Been there many times. I've had to explain to my daughter that this is the down side to having pets. We love them more than anything in the world, but we know we will outlive them. {{{hugs}}}

Shadow – glad you are staying busy. That’s the quickest way to control the eating! Definitely track your inches. It’s exciting to see!

Over – I had RNY surgery March 30. Can only eat very small amounts at a time and rarely actually feel “hungry.” Which is a good thing. Stick with the C25K! Good to focus! And, good luck with feeding the empty leg. My son is only 9 and he is already turning into a garbage disposal!

Snuzbee – congrats on going to the pool! I can’t believe how rude those people were. I thought it was an unspoken, but well understood, rule that you don’t get in the way of anyone swimming laps! Especially at the end of the lane! Good luck!

Cyn – TP roll mini album? That’s a new one!! I look forward to seeing your pictures! I can’t believe no one will watch your dog. That is terrible. Focus on the creative outlet.

I have spent much of the day sitting around on the computer. Which has been kind of nice. Not the part about not doing anything. But the part about being on the computer. And my daughter has been hanging out, too. My husband and son are on a Cub Scout campout. I asked my daughter if she wanted to do anything today and she chose not to. So, I've been getting some stuff done around my desk and doing some research and playing some games. :)

But, I also have been snacking. Nothing major, but more than I usually do. Gee. Think there's a tie-in between hanging out on the computer and snacking? Yup! Problem is, since I haven't done anything, I'm tired. Funny how that happens. Oh, well. I did do a little cleaning up last night and today. Need to do more. But, at least part of the kitchen table is usable, again!

I was so sorry to hear of this, too. They are not with us nearly long enough...

My update… I’m back on schedule with C25K. Easier than I thought it would be to jog 3 minutes, though by the last jog I’m feeling it pretty good in my knees, so I’m not sure how jogging 30 minutes will go over, but I’m sure gonna give it a shot! I am starting to be concerned about getting my workout in when it rains…which it rains most afternoons in FL. I know I can workout to a DVD to get in a workout, but I really want to complete C25K and getting too off schedule could set me back.

Eating is going okay. I have stayed true to my 2100 – 2300 range this week, which is up from the 1800 range I was in. It’s harder than I thought to eat 2100 healthy calories. It only takes one meal to eat 2100 UNhealthy calories. I didn’t make all healthy choices one day of the week, but I was honest with myself and planned for the dessert that I knew I wanted that night, so I was still on point with my calories over all. I’m concerned how this will affect my WI and have made myself stay away from the scale so far. WI is on Sunday morning. I’m also telling myself that changing my calories like that, may take a couple weeks to balance out again, and to stick it out for at least 2 weeks.

One last thing in my world at the moment is my nephew (17yrs old) may be coming to stay with me and my hubby for a week. He eats a LOT! To afford to feed him I’m going to have to buy foods that I wouldn’t normally keep in the house. So portion control will be the key to losing in the coming week. With hubby out of work and funds limited, I can’t afford to cook two different dinners everyday for a week. I’ll just supplement my smaller portion with raw veggies to fill me up. I think raw veggies are usually safe from hungry teenage boys, right??? At any rate it’s just a week and he is going to help my hubby with added ‘manpower’ so that he can get a few things done around the house. I'm fairly sure we aren't breaking child labor laws since we aren't paying him....

OOW, one thing that worked for me when I was staying in a certain calorie range was to remember that it's only a range. There may be days when you can stay in your 1800 calorie range, that's perfectly ok. However, you have an option to eat more (healthfully) if you are still hungry and not filled after consuming your 1800 or so.

As for C25K, if you don't want to get to off track, you can do some of your days inside and then re-do them outdoors (if you want) when the rain clears. It's easier on the joints to exercise inside, but on the downside there's a lot less space to run in. However, if your goal is 'time' and not 'distance' then that option could work for you.

Lastly, about your nephew... I don't think that you have to get more unhealthy options because its economical (although I certainly understand!). Have you checked out the Foods forum? There's a sub forum called Shoestring Meals or Meals on a budget (something similiar). Perhaps you could peruse that forum and find some ideas. Also, this may be a good opportunity for your nephew to learn portion control and to learn how satisfying 'filler' foods can be.

Ratkity, hugs to you!!! I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I'm very glad to hear though that she enjoyed her last day awake and went to sleep peacefully!

Thank you all my special Peeps,

I needed all the hugs and miss my ebil little psychokitty. Of all the sweet animals in my family, no one remembers any of them except for Ratrat because of how she terrorized each and every one of them in her special way. Her last hiss was to the vet when she got her sedation to make her relax. She went out in true Ratrat fashion.

The next several days will be hardest. I keep looking at where I kept her bed expecting to see her. She was part of my life for almost 16 years. While I know losing a furfriend is never easy, it seems harder with each one. She was the last of the five furkids I had in Texas (2 dogs and 3 cats). With each passing, the death of the others comes flooding back.

My 2 goldens and neurotic parrot are helping to cheer me up. I stayed busy and did a major Spring scrubbing of Buford's cage yesterday. Today, I mowed the lawn and put weed killer on the crazy weeds trying to take over my brick sidewalk and driveway. I also went to the grocery store to get doggie food. It was hard going by the kitty stuff. I haven't been kitty-less in over 26 yrs.

Hugs to all my Couch to 5Kers.. keep up the great work!

For all of those with crazy family issues, I'm thinking of you. Keep working to be a healthier you.

Luv,
Ratkity

Snuzbee – Thanks. I’m nursing a sore knee now myself, but I’m hoping to be able to push through. ... We decided to wait until next week to get my nephew, but thanks for the support! … The ppl at the pool would have bugged me too. That is just simple etiquette.

Cyn – Would love to see pics of the album when you are all done. … Sorry about your dog sitting dilemma.

Basket – Oh, ok, I missed that somewhere along the line. Try hard to get the nutrition that you need, doesn’t help to not have your body telling you to eat though. But I’m sure you will make it happen. … LOL. I also have a 9yr old nephew that spends a lot of time with my husband, he comes with his own snacks. He always has a baggie of something to eat because he is FOREVER hungry. … Have you tried chewing gum instead of snacking? Works for me, most of the time…

Honey Bee – I could try the indoor walking/jogging…might sound like an elephant in the house. I live in an above grade house, so no cement foundation. … Great suggestions for the menus too. I happen to know that my nephew is trying to lose weight. He’s focused more on exercise than food though, and would probably appreciate a few healthy food tips. He’s not a very large guy but he is a little thicker in the middle. He’s done a great job on his own this past year at becoming more active, he recently set his personal best time for a mile at 7.5 minutes. I’ve very proud of him! I do believe that I’ll look into those threads and see what I can make happen since I have more time to prepare now.

Ratkitten – I’m glad you are finding ways to help you through your sadness in a positive/productive way. *more hugs*

OnaMi – Welcome! I look forward to reading your posts and getting to know you.

I’m nursing a sore knee today. It was sore Friday (day after W1D3) but nothing major but I did decide not to “get on schedule” and do back to back work outs Friday and Saturday. I did W2D1 on Saturday, the session was cut short by a really bad storm (I got out the door soon as I realized it was coming, trying to beat it, didn’t quite happen but 18 minutes was better than zero.) I was def feeling the workout the rest of the night in my knee, even had trouble sleeping last night. Today I’m icing and taking Aleve. I don’t know if I actually did something wrong or perhaps just need to start wearing a knee brace??? I don’t want to give up, I may have to slow my progress until I figure out how to stabilize my knee. I have a hard time believing one minute additional jogging (from 2 min jogs to 3 min jogs) has made that much dif in my knee.

As I mentioned above we have decided to wait to have my nephew. It’ll probably be next week. I decided that the remodel of my master bath is almost complete and I’d rather have two functioning bathrooms before having a house guest. I’m selfish like that…lol.
