300+ Always Moving in April Exercise Thread
WELCOME!! to the April exercise thread! We're making exercise a habit, giving ourselves some accountability, and getting healthier in the process! In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves (I personally will not exercise much without a goal). If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month! In 2009 the 300+ club broke our 2007 record and exercised for 216,854 minutes. I believe in 2010 we can break that record!! But it's going to take a lot of work from a lot of people to get it done! Please join us! To keep track, just add your minutes to the existing group’s minutes. If you’re new, look at what other people are doing – it’s pretty easy to figure out! To help everyone keep things straight, please note the OLD minutes and the number of NEW minutes you are adding, such as Group total ~ 500 + 50 = 550 minutes. Here are the running totals to date: 24,105 January (a new MONTHLY record!!!) 24,081 February (nearly a record, and 3 fewer days in the month! I'm in for April. I'm shooting for 15 minutes a day, which is only 450. But I've been gone so long, and my exercise hasn't been intentional in ages. So, 15 minutes of exercise for its own sake will be a good thing for me.

Okay. Do I dare try this? I haven't exercised since 2006. I got nervous last night just watching a video :lol:. My goal is little but I am in. 10 minutes a day for a total of 300 for April.
ETC: Let's make it 20/600 to add in warm up / cool down stretching. |
OK, so I'm re-doing Week 5 of my Couch To 5K since, well, frankly, I didn't do much running this week, only walking. That puts this month's total at 390 minutes, but since I am now cleared to do whatever the heck I want on this ankle, I think I can manage another 110 minutes of other exercise, so I'm going for 500 this month.

Right, I'm still trying to get myself into a routine with exercise so put me in for 1000 minutes this month...
