  • This thread is a sub-set of the 300+ weekly thread.

This group is for those dealing with the challenges of having a significant amount of weight to lose and being fit which becomes harder after age 40. If you're an old or new friend and not over 40 and feel this is the place to post, jump right in.
  • Wow - 8 pm and just now starting the thread - everybody awake?

I had a higher calorie day yesterday than I had all week - still well within range. Today a great POP day - no exercise.

My plan, at this point, is to hit the gym early tomorrow. My dad is having surgery at 7 - if I get up regular time I should be able to get a good workout in before heading up to the surgical waiting area. Good thoughts/prayers are appreciated - it should be a simple procedure to replace his pacemaker - cardiologist says extreme high risk as he had a stroke while they were implanting it.

Anybody see a robin saying spring is coming yet?

    Be warm - be well.
  • Carol, you and your father are in my prayers. I hope everything goes well for him. Kudos to you for making plans to stay in the fitness game before the surgery. I'd be letting my worries get the better of me.

Today was a good day for me. Got a lot of laundry done and the boys helped, so there were lots of trips up and down the stairs (I had let the laundry pile up a bit over the week). Spring is definitely creeping in on the west coast, and the sunshine has had me in a good mood for a few days in a row now. And being in a good, positive mood helps me make good food choices, so I was completely OP all day.
  • I saw a robin a few weeks ago and my neighbor informed me not to get excited that a few stay behind each winter.
We got more snow yesterday and are getting more now. I dont think this winter will end!!!
Today started out stressful. My oldest daughter is taking one of the CPA exams today and her car broke down on her way there. She called me in a panic. I called my son who lives in the town where she test and he went to his sissy rescue. Im praying the stress is gone and she passes with flying colors. This is the 3rd test and she only has 1 to go if she passes this one.
I have had 2 pop days in a row and today will be also!!! I dont have kids today due to the snow. I cleaned house yesterday and hid all my snowmen. I dont want to see them again till Thanksgiving weekend. My cabinets are so clean and fresh and organized again. Today Im going to sew a little and maybe make some rolls to put in the freezer.
Im looking forward to my lunch today..homemade chicken salad with light mayo and grapes on a thinbun. I swear I love those thin buns.I have been eating one for breakfast with eggs on it or peanut butter. It really keeps me full till lunch.
Carol- prayers have been said for you and your dad. Keep us posted!!
Geo-we live in a 2 story house with the laundry room in the basement ...i can so relate to lots of steps when working on laundry. Please send spring east!!! Pretty please with splenda on top!!!!
  • Hiya Peeps!

Deb, keep that snow there! We barely missed it yesterday, phew. Just a little mixed stuff and it didn't build up.

GGG, keeping you and your Dad in my thoughts today.

    Hugs to all,
    Ratkity
  • Thank you all - dad is home resting. I managed 25 minutes at the gym before meeting up with them. I had planned to go back for more but the surgery took longer than expected and I needed to get to the office. The plan was more tonight but NOT - something about sitting in a waiting room where's me out.

I'm feeling much better - day 9 POP today. A few challenges coming up but at least I have a clearer head to make some better choices.
  • My but everyone is quiet.

I've had a hungry day. Forgot my breakfast so ended up counting cookie points. Not very filling. I had my L.C. for lunch along with a Cup O Soup cause I was starving.. I'm having a good OP dinner and throwing some sliced strawberries int my salad to "dress it up".

Not much else going on here. Snow and gray skies day after day can sure get depressing.

    Y'all take care.
  • Didn't go to WI today. Got home from work feeing like crap. Decided to just put on my housecoat and try to get warm. I'm never cold so I may be coming down with something. I had an OP week so I think I'll be okay 'til next Thursday.

I'm going to spend the evening snuggling with my nice warm dog and napping while I try to watch Olympics.
  • Hi J!

I hope you aren't coming down with something. The snow and cold might just have gotten to your bones and you needed a good nap.

I was doing great today and not overly tired. Then my internet, phone and tv went out. Never a dull moment. I entertained myself by tormenting the real Ratkity. She was a bit lethargic this morning and didn't eat her food. I think she has a hairball. She's better this evening and ate some baby food.

    Carol, how's your dad?

    Hugs,
    Ratkity
  • It is eerily quiet around here - what's up?

Rat - dad is doing well - I purposely have not called nor did I stop by today - no paniced phone calls from mom so I'm sure all is well.

Judy - snuggle in - get warm and take care of yourself.

Debbie - I promise to try to keep the storm we get tomorrow here - no sharing with Rat either.

Tonight DH went to the gym with me - first time he's made it there since vacation - I think he stayed a record time. It's so weird to see me working so much harder AND SWEATING while he just kinda meanders about.

Barb - is next week your cruise? Have a wonderful time - hope you experience the same weather we did.

Let's see if we can't at least get two pages of posts this week - anybody seen Heather?

    Be warm - be well
  • Come out - come out wherever you are! This is the quietest I think I've ever seen this thread! Hope all are well.

    Be warm - be well
  • Im here and doing good. Eating has gotten easy again, even with the challenge of eating out. Exercise is slow this month...but still getting it in most days.
Life has just been busy and my daughter is home for the weekend.
    Have a great weekend everyone!!
  • Hi Ladies!

Sorry, it's been a crazy few weeks. I know I always sound like a broken record, there are just not enough hours in the day.

I am leaving for the airport tomorrow morning at 5:45am! It's CRUISE time! I can't wait to feel the sun and relax!!!

I'll do my best to get here more often when I return!

    Talk to you all soon!

    Hugs!
    Barb
  • Barb,

Have a great time on your cruise!! I wish I could go and relax with ya.

    Hugs,
    Ratkity
  • Barb - I'm so ready to go back - enjoy!
