  • This thread is a sub-set of the 300+ weekly thread.

This group is for those dealing with the challenges of having a significant amount of weight to lose and being fit which becomes harder after age 40. If you're an old or new friend and not over 40 and feel this is the place to post, jump right in.
  • Wow, it's January and nobody posted from yesterday morning to this afternoon???

I hope that doesn't mean everyone's lacking in spirit or motivation... or got frozen somewhere outside!!

We're supposed to be having a January thaw here... I'd like to see some evidence of it!
  • Mmmmmm! Yummy, low everything dinner. Grilled a portobello on the Foreman. Used a steak rub on it for seasoning. Slapped it on a burger roll and had a huge salad. I was GOOD!

A bit warmer here today. We may break 32º on Thurs. for a one day January thaw.

    Hope everyone is just busy.
  • Oh Judy that sounds wonderful! Gonna have to remember it - I love grilled eggplant on the foreman too.

We had a little thaw today - I heard 38 on Thursday - I'm sure we'll see some shorts and flip flops out there.
  • tummy issues here...I have IBS and its acting up. I talked with the dr and he increased my meds..so much for going decreasing them. He also said to rest my stomach for a few days since I have been eating so many salads and stuff.
We are suppost to hit 30 today...heat wave!!
My baby turns 20 today...where does time go?
  • I'm here...with lots of spirit and motivation. Just a lot of work.

Life is still a little surreal around my house getting used to my husband eating right and going to the gym.

Deb - Feel better! Happy Bday to your "baby".

    More when I have time...
    to all!
  • I am feeling better after just a day of bland food. I am doing one more day of bland and then slowly starting to add real foods back into my diet but not raw for a few more days.
barb- its a shock when hubbys eat right..mine has been doing really well for the past few days and his glucose is the proof. We both had a bit of the icecream cake. I counted mine in my points and am pleased to remind myself I can have a treat just have to plan out my points around it.
    carol- how are you feeling?
    teri- how is the weather?
    judy- where are you?
heather- have classes started back yet?
We are suppost to break the freezing mark today..Im so ready for warmer temps!!
  • Debbie -- We're in our second week of classes and things are already crazy. Just FYI, I am probably going to be here more sporadically the month of February. It looks too busy already!! Trying to stay on plan, though!
  • My youngest is in her 2nd semster of nursing classes. I can tell things are back in full swing for her. Her bedroom which was clean over the break is now trashed...lol
Hope things calm down for you heather. Hang in there with your eating..just plan.
My motto for today is "I WILL"
  • How do folks with families do it???? I live alone. Don't have to dress "up" for work and I swear all I do is laundry. It's not like I put on clean clothes 3 or 4 times a day either but everytime I get caught up .... the next day it looks like time to start over. arrrrgh!

I've been holding my own this week. Hoping for 1.5 loss tomorrow. My clothes feel looser this week but that often means a fat shift and not a loss for me. We'll see tomorrow night.

Heather: You're strong. If you're missing in Feb. I know you'll be fine with your program. Take care of yourself. Don't let work run you down.

Deb: Glad your feeling a bit better. Take care of your tummy.

Barb: 2 kids and a DH are sure to keep you on life's merry go round. Enjoy!

    Back tomorrow!
  • Hi everyone!! Today was so busy that I barely had time to eat! I didn't eat all my planned food. I let myself eat a larger dinner. Had a good workout with my trainer, too...

I am really trying to strategize about staying healthy when work gets really busy. I can't give up my exercise, but I might need to do less often, more intensity. I WILL need to keep planning. I will do more on Sundays to have meals for dinner, and lots of snacks prepped. And I won't give up on my sleep. I think I'll give up a lot of other things (less 3fc ), but I've worked too hard to sacrifice my health!
  • Back from WW.

Remember what I said yesterday: "I've been holding my own this week. Hoping for 1.5 loss tomorrow. My clothes feel looser this week but that often means a fat shift and not a loss for me. We'll see tomorrow night."

Well, I guess sometimes no matter how much we want something we have to be patient. I didn't gain but I didn't lose either. Ah well. At least my bra's falling off my boobs! Maybe I'll have a woosh next week.
  • Did not want to get up to go to the pool today, but forced myself. It was just a great workout that completely energized me, and helped me stay OP too. We are going bowling tomorrow. That's pretty exciting. I used to bowl as a kid because we lived half a block from a bowling alley. Of course here it is 5-pin and not 10-pin which is actually physically easier for me with my handicaps. I'm really bad, always in last place, which for me is very unusual. I'm always used to being the best when it came to sports. On the other hand, I have lots of room for improvement. I also get to break in my new bowling shoes tomorrow. I've had 1400 calories so far, and will have 3-400 more before bed.
  • There's a 5 pin bowling?! Wow. I learned about duck pin bowling last year. Didn't like it cuz the pins are further apart and harder to knock down.

    Hugs,
    Ratkity
  • TGIF!

Down 3.4 pounds this week. Closing back in on my pre-holiday weight.

Feeling great and motivated. It sure helps that my hubby is on board. To him this is a big game....he stopped with his computer and video games...now it's about the weight loss game. Whatever works for him. Maybe I need a little competition to see some new lows on the scale!
