Good job, Bo! You're setting the bar a little higher for the rest of us. :carrot:

Kelli, you're more likely to win, especially if you are the biggest (but I'm sure you won't be). You can drop more pounds easier than someone who only has 20-40 lbs. The good news is that you won't need to keep up with the workouts the 20 or 50 pounders have to do. You can do less and lose more. ;)
Keep us posted. I hope you make some new friends. (We just moved here 6 months ago and I joined a TOPS group to meet other dieters like me.)

Week 4
Tues - 25/25
Thurs - 0/20
Sat - 0/25
Sun - 0/20

ThisYear 01-26-2010 06:01 PM

I've been thinking about joining the TOPS group here as well. How do you like it? Is it useful?

chattykathy 01-26-2010 06:45 PM

The TOPS group here has been really good for me. I've done WW, PRISM and other hard core diet programs-- didn't work for me, too serious. This is a support group of a bunch of people who are trying to lose weight. I'm guessing each chapter is a little different but some things are the same for everyone.

This is what everyone does:
You privately weigh in and add the gain or loss to your book.
You have weekly biggest losers and prizes.
There are chapter, region and national biggest losers.
They have a great after program: KOPS (keeping the pounds off sensibly)
The annual fee is $26.00

Our group:
Each member takes turns doing some sort of informative presentation.
We play Bingo twice a month (everyone wins) and have 50/50 raffle tickets to raise money.
We are raising money to rent a house at the beach and go to the Regional conference.
Different members meet up to exercise together. I'm going to join the water aerobics next month.
Our monthly member due is $3

If you have any questions let me know. You should check it out. The first meeting is free.

You know, that makes a lot of sense. I'm just having these horrible flashback of jr high gym class - always being the slowest and weakest. LOL But I'm gonna try not to worry too much. I'm determined to make this a positive experience.

About the TOPS meetings...that is so inexpensive compared to WW. The only drawback for me is that the closest meeting is in the next town, but I guess I can handle that once a week. And maybe I'll meet some new interesting people there, too. Do you get any helpful materials like you do at WW meetings?

chattykathy 01-29-2010 07:03 PM

Kelli- Yes, you do get a packet of materials, ongoing info and info from the website.

Sorry I've been MIA. I always struggle this time of month. Aunt Dot always hits me hard-- usually have about 24 hrs that I'm just out of commission. BUT this time I dealt with it all and got right back to my routine! This is a BIG victory for me. I fed my salt and chocolate cravings in moderation. I got back to my daily workout and treadmill today. I feel good again! :carrot:

Hi gals - Seeing this thread makes me happy. I hate when everyone's stock answer to learning how to run is do couch25k. Like many of you that program was was too progressive for me as written. I was about 240 when I took up running and adapted another program that eased into it a bit easier.

Anyway keep it up you'll be running before you know it. It can be hard at first but it's so worth it in the end. I'm still slow but it's a work in progress.

Those BT programs are good I used one to do my first Sprint Tri awhile back.

Keep it up!

ThisYear 01-30-2010 01:52 AM

Thank you so much for the encouraging words, Idealmuse. It means a lot to hear from someone who has "been there, done that." We are all just slowly pluggin along, hoping to get there some day! :D

Kathy - I know what you mean. I have the same problem. Good for you getting right back into it. I haven't been keeping up this past week at all. But, I decided to enter the biggest loser contest. Our first weigh in is on Tuesday, so I've got to get myself together!

chattykathy 02-02-2010 01:31 PM

It's amazing how much just a few days break from the treadmill can make. I'm back on it but my progress has slowed. This time I know that it will only be a matter of a few days and I'll be feeling better and better. My mp3 player stopped working and I was using my daughter's- country... yuck. I got a new Sony Walkman mp3 player and got some of my favorite workout songs on it. So much better!!!

I know what you mean. I took about 2 months break before I started this and it was SOO hard...like I had never exercised before! I'm glad to hear that you got back on it!!

Tonight was my first weigh-in for the biggest loser contest. Unfortunately, their scale differs from mine by about 3 lbs! The wrong way...lol I'm not surprised though. My scale has been slammed around by playing dogs and jumped on by playing children. I'm surprised it works at all!

Anyway, this ups my ticker weight :( The first BL meeting was such a surprise. The ppl running the contest expected 20-40 contestants. There are 170!! We are supposed to have group workouts, but I don't see how that will work with so many people. I'm very excited to kick it into high gear and really show myself what I can do. I'm tired of playing with the same 10 lbs over and over!!

How is everyone else doing?

ThisYear 02-04-2010 11:14 AM

Ok, so I've had to take a little break bc I had a very messy tooth extraction yesterday. I have been ordered by my dentist to wait two more days to start again. He's worried it will dislodge the blood clot. Soooo....I can't believe that I actually feel BAD that I can't work out. A few weeks ago I would have seen this as the perfect EXCUSE for being lazy. LOL

chattykathy 02-04-2010 03:47 PM

LOL! @ Kelli I hope you have a quick recovery!

Lol, not completely alone... I'm still goin at it, albeit slowly. On Thursday I start Phase II (just a little bit of running) so we'll see how that goes. I've been using videos on my in-between days since i started this BL contest just to keep something going, and I think it's really helping my c2k progress.

I've noticed you've been consistently doing more minutes than you planned for. Looks like you're getting stronger and stronger every week!

ThisYear 02-16-2010 09:54 PM

Whew! Got in 3 workouts today! I feel really good now, but I bet I'll be sore tomorrow!:o

chattykathy 02-21-2010 01:38 PM

I'm back. I took a vacation with my husband. I ate badly and didn't exercise. Since I've been home I'm having a hard time getting back into my good habits. I did Wii Just Dance this morning and I'm back on my diet. I'll try to get back on the treadmill today.

ThisYear 02-21-2010 11:49 PM

I know what you mean about it being hard to get back in the swing of things...I've been noticing that if BF and I go out to dinner on Friday night, that sets it up for me to eat badly until Monday morning.. i've got to stop that!

lavieboheme73 02-23-2010 07:24 PM

Guess who's back?!? The ankle boot is gone, the break is most of the way healed, and I am ready to kick some asphalt!

Today's total

Tues-10/10 YAAAAAAAY!!!!

I'm moving fairly slow to give the ankle time to get used to things, but my doc said I can re-start my training regimen, so re-start I did! :)

ThisYear 02-23-2010 10:09 PM

Yay! So glad you're back and doing well. Keep it up!:carrot:

lavieboheme73 02-25-2010 09:12 PM

I forgot whether I was supposed to do 10 or 15 minutes today, so I decided to do 15 just in case. :)

Tues=10/10
Thurs=15/15

ThisYear 02-27-2010 07:06 PM

Started the running phase today and OUCH! My feet are killing me. I have fascia problems to begin with, but 300 lbs pounding up and down on them really didn't help. I'm gonna stick it out though. Losing weight is about the only thing that will decrease the pain right now so it's just one more piece of motivation for me!

lavieboheme73 02-27-2010 07:30 PM

Holy crap, it was slick out on my usual walking trail! So I stuck to walking around the basketball court so I don't get sidelined again.

Tues=10/10

Sskar 02-28-2010 03:47 PM

Hey everyone! Sorry I have been so absent from posting, but I have been of pocket taking care of elderly and ailing parents (actually moving them back to their permanent home from Oregon to Texas).

I had been doing great through the first 4 weeks, walking various routes through the neighborhood, and using one of Leslie Sansone's videos when I couldn't get outside.

Today I will get back on track, even though it is raining and cool here in Southern Arizona. I need to break through a nasty plateau I have had over the past month and being more active hopefully will help. It certainly should help my stress level from family stuff.

And, congratulations to lavieboheme for healing up so quickly and returning to exercise. :bravo:

lavieboheme73 02-28-2010 08:00 PM

Thank you so much! It's good to be back. So here's what my first perfect week looks like:

Friday - 45/45
Sat - 30/0 BONUS:D

you're comin right along, bo. how's the ankle?

lavieboheme73 03-08-2010 06:55 PM

Thanks! I'm all healed! :) I'm feeling no pain at all when I walk on it any more. I'm still not allowed to run at all until next month, wear heels until next year (whoopee...I'm nearly 5'8"...I don't need heels), or walk stairs until I'm allowed to run. But I'm thinking most of that is just precautions more than anything else.

lavieboheme73 03-09-2010 07:19 PM

Starting Week 3!!

Tues=15/15

lavieboheme73 03-11-2010 07:00 PM

OK, really...not that I mind starring in the Bo Show, but what good is a diva without her co-stars?

Thurs=20/20

BeachBreeze2010 03-12-2010 04:49 PM

Hey hun! You are so motivating!! I tore up my ankle last fall and had to sit out for months. I am just now wanting to start a c25k. I started a thread on the 100lb forum. We can peek in a cheer each other on! Anyway, I just wanted to poke my nose in and say that seeing someone else with such motivation to overcome an injury makes me feel more like I can do this, too. Thank you and keep up the program!! :hug:

P.S. Nothing wrong with the Bo show! I'll keep tuning in if you keep going!

ThisYear 03-12-2010 11:39 PM

Got only one workout in so far this week. TOM has a way of shutting me down for a few days. I've started looking more seriously into the 5K schedule for this year. Have you guys picked out a race yet?

That may be the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me! Thanks for the compliments!! I think a big part of the motivation was that I actually sustained the injury while working on the C25K, so I felt like I HAD to show the stupid muddy hill I slid down who was boss! Best of luck to you with your recovery...ankle injuries, I have learned, are nowhere near child's play!

So class, today's lesson is How to Fit in Exercise In The Middle of a Super Busy Day: I took the 16-year-old shopping for swimsuits. (By the way, she did find one and it's super cute on her! :)) She takes FOREVER to make a decision on anything...don't know where she gets that...*whistling innocently*, so I decided I was going to fit in my day's training right there in Target. I got some funny looks, but I can still claim my 15 minutes for the day!
