Julia - glad to hear it went well. Hope you were a good patient.

Tonight I made orange cashew chicken - modified a Rachel Ray recipe - was fantastic - and a huge plate of healthy food for about 350 calories. Not to mention fast. The pups and I went out for our walk, stopped by my folks down the street and ended up mowing for them. Great exercise for a rest day! I'm not quite at the halfway goal to hit 1500 minutes but I will get there.

Judy - hope the note doesn't blow out the window - you can do it. The smells are the worst part for me - I always hope for a green light when I pass the golden arches and the flame broiled place.

Quick drop by. Super busy at work still. Still average about 12 hours a day at work. Got out for ~2.5 mile walk tonight though. TOM is here. So I am cranky, but ready to get my butt in gear.

Short and sweet.

Hi all

TheWalrus 09-15-2009 11:53 PM

Little pity party for me over here -- I had to skip our training session tonight so that I could work on this neverending project -- normally I'd console myself with the thought that I'd crank it twice as hard in the coming weeks, but our trainer's moving at the end of the month and can't fit me in for other sessions between now and then. Also, it's raining here, and my right hip and knee are throbbing -- I've dislocated my right kneecap several times, starting when I was 13 years old or so, which has made me prone to joint problems, and hopping around on it exclusively for almost 6 months last year after I broke my left leg certainly didn't help matters. Plus, we skipped our grocery shopping trip last week, so we ran out of real food last night. Lunch was NOT pretty. Boo hoo.

Ok, good things: I'm almost done with the massive editing project -- hooray! Help me out here -- if I ever mention taking on a project again, kick me in the shins. I'm just too old to be working this many hours on the computer every day. It's simply not worth it. Period. Remind me of this if I ever start talking about taking on a new project!!!!!!

We had sushi tonight -- I love having fresh sushi, even though I usually stick to vegetarian. We've started having sushi every Tuesday night after the gym, and tonight was no exception -- brown rice and avocado, and brown rice and avocado/cucumber. Yum.

We've got a couple of great weeks lined up -- walking, dining with friends, cooking at home -- I'm pretty excited :D

My birthday's coming up -- yay! What should I ask for?!?

Hope you all are having great weeks -- save up some calories so you can celebrate with me when this humongo project is gone, gone, gone! ;)

I had a great workout in my basement last night. I added reps and really pushed myself.I really feel it this morning.
walrus- I think you may need to get that stick back out of the corner..we have a few people missing.
geo- hope your little ones bday was great!

realist_ hi and hopefully you will be able to spend more time with us soon. Hang in there at work.

Afternoon

Got home from work and started laundry. The laundry I should have done over the weekend. :nono: If I get two loads done today and two on Friday I'll be caught up. The joys of sharing a washer in the apartment building are few but luckily there are only 8 apts.and the washer is right next door to my apt. Probably if it was further away I'd invest in my own but it's literally three steps from my door.

Walrus: .... NO more BIG projects ...... so there.

dgramie: Exercise aches are good aches.:carrot:

julia: Glad your surgery went well.

ggg:Orange Cashew Chicken? It sounds really tastey. The note will NOT blow out the window. I'm watching it like the GEICO money pile watches it's victims.:)

WW is early tomorrow evening. I am finally psyched to get started!

gggirls 09-16-2009 08:50 PM

Don't know if anyone caught my little rant on another thread - I'm still not happy about how she was approached BUT one of my gym mates will be on the Dr Oz show on Friday - can't wait to see her. If you can catch it - she is Amanda the social worker. This has been a huge motivator for me this week - I'm taking the 60 day challenge with her - as if the camera is following me. The one thing they asked her before she was "accepted" or whatever you call it was

Will you commit to 30 minutes of walking each and every day.

I ask each of you that - my answer is - I will!

Judy - the orange cashew chicken was awesome! And very filling. Tonight tillapia and steamed broccoli - equally good.

Lurkers - come out come out wherever you are!

dgramie 09-16-2009 09:16 PM

Im proud to report I did great at the fish fry tonight. I was so tempted by the desserts but didnt give in. I came home and jumped on the minitramp. I feel good and know this is going to work.
Yes Carol_ I will commit to 30 min of exercise daily..and we both know that is my weak point. I am committing to 30 min of something else besides walking but will work in my walking also.

judy- good luck at ww. I am excited for you!!

Wow, I haven't been here in days? Well, my world definitely picked up when classes started this week. I'm doing well with food and exercise so far. I am going to try to walk at some point today -- should have a break at lunch.

I'm back

Hi ladies,

I'm back from my trip. I had a few days of fun with friends and the rest was spent with family. I am happy to be back home and in my own bed.

The family visit was tough. My family of origin story is coming to a tragic end on every front. If witnessing my family's health (and other) problems doesn't serve as a motivator for me to take care of myself, nothing will.

I am here today with a renewed committment to health and happiness.

Have a great day, everyone.

j-ann 09-17-2009 07:55 PM

I did it!!!!! No excuses this time. I went to WW tonight. Seems to be a nice group. Much smaller than the one I used to go to.

I'm set for tomorrow and plan a big healthy shopping trip for Saturday morning. I really think I'm ready to get my life together.

First of all welcome "home". Your quote struck a chord with me - my goal has been refocused to be health and happiness - not simply weight related. Hand in hand they go but not with such limitations. I can be happy and healthy each day.

Judy - I knew you would do it! Isn't it wonderful when you have the decision made and follow through putting the plan into action.

I have to say that this whole thing with Amanda, my gym mate, being on Dr Oz tomorrow and them following her for 60 days has really impacted me as nothing has in some time. I am taking the next 60 days as a challenge as if it was ME they were following. Everyone knows I'm a good girl while everyone is watching - right? I started a 60 day challenge to see what we can accomplish by November 15 - who's in?

This group is for those dealing with the challenges of having a significant amount of weight to lose and being fit which becomes harder after age 40. If you're an old or new friend and not over 40 and feel this is the place to post, jump right in.

Hi!

My name is Michelle, and I'm new to the group.:) I just turned 41 this past July, and I have 110 pounds to lose. I've joined this site in search of support, and guidance. I am happy to have found you ladies, as I can not go through this journey alone.

JuliaDH 09-18-2009 10:42 AM

Welcome Michelle! The ladies here are great loving, kind and will give a good butt kickn' when required! Love it here!

geoblewis 09-18-2009 10:46 AM

Welcome to our little group, Michelle. We're so happy to have you join us!

I see that you posted rather early in the morning. I was up really late last night and I was wanting to chat with someone in order to avoid having a long discussion with the hot dogs in the refrigerator. I somehow managed to not speak to them. This morning I was wondering where one might suggest a new discussion category be started, for those who are up late and are trying not to eat. Maybe next time I don't go to sleep too early I'll just start a new thread and see who joins in.

This morning both my son and I are having intestinal problems. He was up very early this morning, in the bathroom a lot, and now it's my turn. I want to go back to sleep now. First I'll make sure he and the XBox are comfortable in the living room and then I'll nap. I'm feeling rather dehydrated now.

j-ann 09-18-2009 05:02 PM

So far so good here. 24 hrs ;) and still OP!

I was shocked when, this morning, I finally looked at my weight at weigh in yesterday. (I wasn't ready to face the number yesterday, just the scale. I would have put it off longer but I needed my weight to figure my daily points allowance.) Yes I was up over my previous high BUT it was only :?: 8 lbs. By the way my clothes fit, and how I feel, I figured I was good for an extra 20-30 lbs, not 8. I feel better already. :)

Hi Michelle, This is truly a great group. Jump right in.

Carol, I'd lve to join your challenge but I think I'm best just exercising my mind into eating properly for the next few weeks. Then I'll try to add more consistant exercise. Good luck to you!

I'm officially on vacation for a week. Time to grocery shop, clean house and take my Pointer off to a couple agility trials at the end of next week.
