Buddy Needed and Warning Long Thread

  • I am new to the site and very excited to get started! I know this will be a long journey; a life time of change but I know I and all of us can do it!

I wanted to introduce myself, provide some background, and hopefully find a buddy for support!

My name is Stephanie and I live in South Texas with the love of my life. We have been married for 4 years (together for 9) and he is just amazing!

I have been bigger all of my life but didn't start to really pack the weight on until a terrible ankle injury from basketball that put me in a wheelchair for a while. Then as soon as my husband and I got married we started to try for children. We wanted desperately to get pregnant but found out we have some infertility issues. So we endured two rounds of in vitro. Because of the large doses of steroids and stress associated, I gained 40 lbs per round. That is 80 lbs my friends!!! Eek...writing it seems worse. So after indulging in food for most of my life...here I am. I am overweight and sick of it!

Good news: We are on the actively waiting list to be chosen as adoptive parents so I have a new motivation to get healthy. My future children. I want to live long and play hard with them!

So, as I said before, I am looking for a buddy to keep me going and motivate me to continue this path. I also can provide motivation on the hard days and be a cheerleader for all the good days!

Anyone looking for the same type of buddy!?

    Talk to y'all later!
  • Definately! I would love some one-to-one support. I'm not sure how we can be weight loss buds here, I'm kinda new, but if you want to do it through email, you can PM me and I check my email several times every day (mainly b/c I'm a mystery shopper).

    I'm a 24 yr old with a 3-year old son.
<----You can see my weight stats on the side. And find out a little more on my blog.

Good luck with the adoption! Are you looking for a girl, boy, or don't care? Baby or older kid?
  • Welcome

I would like to suggest you post on the positive thread. It really helps to look for something good in your day and even on the worst of days you can always find something small

Good luck with your weight loss!
  • Thank you so much!! I will definitely check out the positive thread!

sakurasky: We don't care about gender. We just want to be parents! We are looking to adopt a newborn. Totally excited! It has been a long time coming!

Recently I decided now was the time to take action and I talked to my doctor about getting the proper help. I saw a nutritionist and since then I ahve been losing stedily. Over the last 2 months though my motivation has wained and I was looking for a buddy to rely on, someone that will cheer for me like I would cheer for them. • Hi everyone, I'm Amanda I'm new here also. Like many others out there I've battled with my weight my whole life. I've recently gone back to school for training to work in a doctors office as an Administrative Assistant(the ones who deal with insurance, making sure the doctors get paid.) It's an 8 month program, seven months of school and one month of externship in the doctors office. This is a big change in my life as I havent been inside a school since my HS graduation. As far as the WL goes I know I won't make goal in 8 months BUT I'll be well on my way. So today I'm starting my journey to a healthier, happier me. I am looking forward to meeting all of you, and sharing my experience.

Good Luck to All of you,
    Amanda
  • Did you find a buddy yet? Would love to chat more!
  • Hi everyone. I was on here in January and got started losing weight but I let myself get distracted and stopped losing. The good thing is I haven't gained any weight but I want to get back to losing. My goal was to lose 80lbs by the end of 2009 and I still think I can do it. I have a great support system in my friends and we are going to start working out together at the gym, but neither of are my size and I wanted to also talk with people who understand the small triumps like, finally reaching a point where I can sit in a chair and not worry about it collapsing under me.
  • Hello All. I am also new this week to the site. I would like a weight loss buddy to share my successes with. I have been overweight my entire life. I started my WL journey on June 10th and have lost 18 lbs so far. I know what you mean FunGirl28 about small triumps. The best feeling is when you can sit in a booth with out your stomach touching or being able to fit into a pair of jeans you have not worn in years. I heard the best saying on the biggest loser today. NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS THIN FEELS... If anyone wants to be my weight loss buddy just let me know.
  • New friends...WELCOME!!! There are wonderful support threads and buddies around here. Make yourself at home!

Stephanie....Your introduction struck such a chord with me. Our starting stats are nearly identical, DH and I also endured IVF (4 cycles), I had the major weight gain as a result....and I am now the proud mommy of 2 amazing little boys that we adopted! Best of luck with the weight loss and the adoption. Both will change your life in such incredible ways! If you ever want to chat please feel free to reach out to me. I could talk on and on, but it's late and I need to sleep.
    Talk to you soon.
