Beth – Thanks! I was very happy to see that loss, even after having a bit too much alcohol on the weekend, that’s for sure! Are you in your last year of High School?

Melissa – Are you working out along with the cals? Your calorie intake seems about right. You should definitely try adding some walking/working out time, and I think that would help. Also, do you eat breakfast every morning? It’s key for weight loss. You need to be eating breakfast, snacks, etcetera, and don’t eat too close to your bedtime. I know it’s all information you already know, but sometimes we tend to forget things, and maybe just adding those couple of workouts a week will help with the loss.

Rosie – I had one doctor in my life be that way. It can help so much to actually have the support of a doctor when you’re trying to lose weight.

DCHound – Hello & Welcome to the thread! I look forward to getting to know you better!!

Well, I got in workouts both yesterday & today. Didn’t think I’d manage to get one in today because I was super busy, and I have a TON of homework to do still. Tomorrow will be my first day back at the gym. I’m excited, but nervous. Heh. I need to get a pair of weight lifting gloves. When I was going to the gym every day, I started to get callouses on my hands, underneath each of my middle fingers. So definitely sometime soon, I need to invest in a pair. And I saw some at Meijer that are pink & gray! Cute! Lol.

I was VERY happy with the scale this morning. Looking forward to next week’s weigh-in already! Heh. Well, off to do some homework! Biggest Loser is on tonight! :)

Debbie54 02-03-2009 07:49 PM

Jilly, I'm so excited for you!! I can't wait to hear how well you do once your surgery is over. You've got so much to look forward too!!

Americaninuk, hope your arms starts feeling better and better each day. That must be really painful. That's great news that hubby will keep his job!

Cyn, it sounds like your party business is really taking off! That's great news! You've really overcome your fear of fear, I think, just by getting yourself out there. I really admire you for doing that and showing me that we can overcome things that frighten us.

Beth, you take care in all of that bad weather. It's hitting the midwest and eastern states pretty bad over here. People without electricty for 2 to 3 weeks. I don't see how they're keeping warm or making meals.

Kayley, what a great weight loss!! :woohoo: Congrats to ya!

Rosie, it sounds like you found a doctor that understands you and that's hard to find. So congrats on that. I'm also glad that you feel comfortable with this doctor. Sometimes it's so hard to go and know that you're going to be judged or told to lose and it will solve all your problems.

Catherine, sorry about your back but glad it didn't set you back into the wheelchair. Take it easy

Carol, good to see you and your very welcome!

Julia, when you find a nice hairstyle for fine hair, let me know. I'm sick of my hair!!! I think I've worn it this way for over 30 years.....sheesh!

Debi, so glad to hear the power and water are all working again. That must of been really hard. We missed you!!

Carol, yikes, take it easy on the ol bod!! I hope she goes easy on you too! Take care

DCHound, welcome and just jump right in!! We can't wait to get to know you better.

Just wanted to drop by and see how everyone was doing. I don't have much to add, just still pluggin along. O one happy note, I get my ring back tomorrow. Hopefully it will last longer than 4 days this time.. I told Jim I get to visit it again before it has to go back to the shop again. LOL. I've had it 4 days and they've had it 28.
Have a great night!
Debbie

Hi Everyone!

Sorry you have not seen me around. I have been in intensive training to sit for my CIA (certified internal auditor) exam. It was 4 days of training, training exams, and homework. Now that I'm back I have some news.

Today was an eye-opener for me. I found out that this ball I go to every year was set for this Saturday. Somehow I got the dates mixed up. So I go shopping for a gown. I go into David's Bridal and am ignored. I know I am not a small girl but I still deserve to be waited on. The place had 3 sales people and no one wanted to help me. I asked for someone to help me and even then, they opened a door to the fitting room and left again, never to be seen. I ended up leaving without buying a dress that I actually liked. I then went to Macy's and again, I was ignored. A salesperson actually saw me walking up to her to ask her a question and turned around and went the other way. Another salesperson walked right past me when I was about to ask her a question. I finally got someone to pay attention to me to show me where the formal wear was. While there, a sales person from Plus size came over and helped me out. I ended up buying 2 dresses and a shaw from her. I was ready to turn around and walk out and cry. At first I thought, maybe it's how I look (dress, etc.) but I came straight from work- my hair was done, my make-up was on and I was wearing professional dress clothes. Yes, I know discrimination happens but I have never had it so blattenly in my face like today. The funny thing was I went down 2 dress sizes and I was able to zip it up with no problems..no sucking it in or having to wear a girdle for it to fit. Unfortunately, I feel like my victory was tainted today.

How can anyone treat another person like a non-human?
:?:

kayleystar 02-03-2009 10:49 PM

Debbie – That’s good news about the ring! :) Keep on keepin’ on! :)

Accountess – It’s amazing, the amount of discrimination that goes on against bigger people. I’m sorry that you had such an awful experience. :( I had a similar experience at David’s Bridal, while shopping for my Maid of Honor Dress this past summer. *hugs*

Anyone watch The Biggest Loser tonight? I was mixed about the outcome, but I think the right decision was made. :) I’m going to head to bed early (for me!) It’s been a long night, working on some homework, but I’m am beat! Got my MP3 player all ready for the gym tomorrow. Looking forward to getting back to the gym tomorrow! Have a great night, all!

DCHound 02-03-2009 10:57 PM

Accounttess, that's horrible. You deserve a lot better than that. I would think in this economy any retail sales person would be chasing you around the store to get you to buy something! Sending a big hug.

Rosie 02-03-2009 11:01 PM

*hugs* for Accountess. I know exactly how you feel. I think we've all been there. But I bet you'll look stunning in your gown and please, just brush it off. Those people could've been having bad days. (Not excusing them for rudeness, just emphasizing that it wasn't necessarily YOU they were rejecting...)

PurpleOrc, I hope you get to feeling better.

GO, DCHOUND, GO! Do you think you'll reach your goal for V-Day?

azcyn 02-03-2009 11:38 PM

evening..

Debbie54: Thank you!! I agree over comming fear..is soo hard but once it is done..it gets easier and easier!

kayley: WHere is that cute pink hat???

DChound: Welcome to the group!

dgramie: I am soo glad you are back online and have electricity!

As for me: I am going to try and get to bed a littler earlier tonight...I have noticed I am getting a little sleepy earlier in the day at work. They say maybe rain later this week! Yeah!

Hi All,

Julia: Hi sweetie. Your DH sounds like a doll!

Jilly: how exciting that next month is the month. I'm excited for you.

American: Sorry that your arm is hurting you so much. Hugs.

Cyn: Woo hoo to all of the slumber party business you are getting.

Beth: LOL about the chaos because of snow. It snowed in Sacramento CA area when I lived there and it was a nightmare. Sometimes people just freak out.

Purple: How is your DH mouth? I hope better.

Kayley: love the pink bangs. Too cute.

Rosie: Congrats for not being too nervous at the Dr's office. Small steps are wonderful.

Melissa: I say maybe go a bit lower for a while and if you don't see a change then go a bit higher for a while. Almost 2 pounds per week is excellent.

Catherine: Sorry that your back is messed up right now. Hope it "snaps" back into shape soon.

Carol: Woo hoo only 10 more days to your vacation!!!!!

Debi: So glad that you are safe and sound and back "home" we missed you.

Jacquie: Hi there.

DChound: Huge welcome. It has taken us a while to get to know each other. Please don't feel pressured to write. Just write when you feel like it and what you feel like. So happy to have you here and I'm looking forward to geting to know you better. Welcome.

Accounttess: Hugs. Sorry that you had such a bad day out shopping. It is funny but in Support Group tonight we were talking about that very thing how when you are larger people don't seem to want to see you and they act like they are afraid they will "catch" your obesity. The smaller you get the nicer you will see people are to you. It really sucks but unfortunately that is the way this world is. Hang in there and know we love you!

Debbie: Hi girl. How are ya?

Well, I'm pretty well caught up for now. Things are going okay, still stuck at 218 and unable to exercise because of my hips but hoping he will release me soon. I may sneak some in tomorrow even just riding my exercise bike or something.

Blessings all,
Annie

I haven't had a chance to even somewhat catch up, but I wanted to post quickly to let everyone know that I will be gone for a bit. On Friday, I slid on the ice and messed up my knee. I tore the two main ligaments that are on the back of the knee and I have a small fracture on the top of my tibia. I got out of the hospital yesterday but have not met with the ortho yet. There are none in this town, so I have to go out of town to meet him & to have surgery. In the mean time, since I can't do stairs and can't stay home by myself, I am staying at my parents' house. Unfortunately they have dial-up and it takes forever for everything to load, and I just can't sit that long.

I will be back as soon as I am up and around more. Take care chickies.

kayleystar 02-04-2009 05:35 AM

Cyn – Decided to retire that pic for now. Did something fun with my hair, so decided to show that instead. :) Never fear! Fuzzy pink hatness will return eventually! Lol!!! Hope you were able to get to bed early.

Annie – I’m sure it’ll start to budge just as soon as you can get back into your routine 100%. If you decide to work out today, just BE CAREFUL! :)

BrandNewMe – Goodness! Take it easy, and get well soon! *hugs*

Well, I’ve got quite a busy day ahead of me. I’m going to try and catch an hour of sleep before I get up again (randomly woke up at 5am this morning). Then, I’m getting up, and heading to the gym, and then apparently, my debit card number was compromised in a security breach on the part of Mastercard, so I have to see about getting my current one cancelled, and a new card ordered. Then, over to a friend’s house, a study session with some classmates up at my campus, and then class. Whew.

Have a good Wednesday!! :)

dgramie 02-04-2009 07:46 AM

brandnewme- HUGS!! take care and get well and back to us as quick as you can. You will be in our thoughts and prayers!

carol- hope you are feeling better today.

I got the house back undercontrol but my mind is another matter........I am not sleeping very well at all. I think we have it to warm in here. I feel overwhelmed at what all needs to be done before the wedding. Its like everything is a battle to get it done. Not to mention that our groom is still on crutches and will be at the wedding.I still have hours of sewing ahead of me.I need to concentrate on eating right again...but we went and ate mexican yesterday and i ate to much. It was almost like we just kept eating to keep from having to return home. We are being reminded every few hours that our power could go back off due to limbs hanging everywhere. We still have no cable.......the kids will be unhappy and i am finding i really miss the news.School starts back tommorow if things go according to plan.
On a postive note my brother got his drainage tube out of his stomach on friday. The dr said he things he is going to make a full recovery from all the set backs. He has lost 70lbs.
guess i better go and get the radio on and see what is going on in the world.

voodoo1 02-04-2009 08:09 AM

Debbi, SO GLAD you are ok after being without power AND water.xxxxxxx Great your brother is getting better too.xxxxxxxxx
Accountess, it NEVER ceases to amaze me how ignorant & downright rude some people can be, especially when their job entails CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! HUGSxxxxxxxx
Annie 218, wow you will be 100& something VERY soon!!!! WOWEEEEE!!!!!xxxxxxx(grimacing & green with envy!!lolxxxx)
Brandnewme, HUGSXXXXX I'm always terrified to leave the house when it's snowy/icy, I tore the ligaments on my knee on black ice & the thought of doing it again makes me feel sick. Not only painful but embarrassing as well. I hope you are being spoiled at your parents' & that you heal quickly.xxxxxxxxx
Umm nothing else to add really, IBS is bad for some reason, I feel bloated, tummy is hurting & I want to srtay in bed!! lol I'm pretty OP & hoping for aloss this week - weigh-in tomorrow am- I'll try to get on pc & chat more, at present I'm playing games instead of doing anything useful, including house work & job-hunting.
xxxxxxxxxsharon
ps Kayley, like the hair, it would look better PURPLE though, lol!!!!!xxxxxx

keeperofthehome4 02-04-2009 08:53 AM

Wanted to post a fast thing must go kids need me.

DCHound 02-04-2009 10:17 AM

GO, DCHOUND, GO! Do you think you'll reach your goal for V-Day?
Thanks! I go through periods where I feel fairly good about losing almost 100 lbs in 6 months, then being kind of hard on myself and not feeling good about it, then thinking it's totally not a big deal at all and not worth celebrating. Can you say, moody!

I don't know if I'll make it or not. I have been totally on-plan every single day since I started on 8/14, no slip-ups. Losing weight is the most important thing in my life; everything else is secondary. In fact I can't believe how easy it's been to stay motivated and on plan. But-- I'm finding it hard both to celebrate it and to accept compliments. But I'm continuing to work on it.

I haven't seen the scale move appreciably since Christmas. I am fluctuating between some days at 275, some days at 270, and some days at 268-269. Hopefully I will see a big loss sometime this week--that's generally how it works for me. I'm hopeful, but I'll just have to wait and see...

kayleystar 02-04-2009 01:30 PM

Dgramie - My goodness! Lots of stress on your end. I hope that you are able to take a break (even if it's small), and just RELAX. And I'm glad to hear about your brother. What a scare!

Sharon - I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. It always seems to get worse in the winter for me, and sounds as if it's the same for you. Be careful, that black ice can be horrendous. That's what caused me to have a pretty bad car accident when I was 16 years old. I'm probably going purple in the next few months...there was extra pink left over, so I decided to do that, and I can't decide if I want green, purple, or blue next. Heh.

Ally - Oh my gosh! I'm glad that you are back home now, and that you saw a loss, regardless! That's great!

DCHound - Fingers crossed that the darn scale will COOPERATE with you soon! Hopefully, you'll lose the last 8 in a big week! :D

Well, I made it to the gym this morning. I got in 30 mins of strength training, and I was beat! lol. I could definitely tell that I hadn't done it in a while. I'll probably be very sore tomorrow, so I might just do cardio when I go tomorrow. Unless by some miracle, my muscles decide to cooperate, and heal up tonight. :D It was SO nice to get back to the gym, though! And I went and bought a new pair of workout pants afterwards, because mine were pretty torn up from wearing them all the time.

I'm just hanging over at a friend's house. Have to head out in about 20 mins to head to a study group at my school, and then class from 3:30-5pm this evening.

Hope you're all having a great day thus far!!
