1-2 pounds a week in 2009!

  • Hi everyone!

    My resolution this year is to average a 1-2 pounds weight loss every week this year. Is anyone else making this their resolution? Would you like to be buddies or make a challenge or something?

    I weighed in on 1-4-09 at 345 lbs. My highest recorded weight, but I was surprised it was not more!

    I'm doing WW, and so far I've done it everyday this week! I'm trying to do this in itty bitty steps, so that it just goes as it goes.

    Plus, I took a leap and tied a lot of my finances into it! I got a new cell phone (and plan!) so that I can use the WW mobile tools. I figure, if I'm putting that much money into it, I'm going to stick to it!

    I would love some people to buddy with- I need to get involved with a group of people and make friends. I've let myself get a little isolated. I'll be working on it IRL, too, but I want a good group online, too.

    A little about me:

    I'm 30, live in TX. I work as a nursing home inspector, which is really interesting and has me on the road a lot. I have two dogs, a chihuahua boy who's 8 yrs old and a dachshund/chihuahua mix girl who's 1. They are my four legged children, who happily make me walk them 3x a day. Heh. Well, happy for them. I grumble a lot first thing in the morning.

  • I'm shooting for a similar goal this year. around 2-3 lbs a week in 2009. Like my blog says I'm trying to lose 100lbs in 2009! I'd love to be one of your buddies. I live in TX, too and I'm 20yrs old. My SW was 300 and I'm slowly working towards losing that 100 lbs. Got 52 weeks to do it! I usually weigh-in everyday but I'm trying to break myself of that habbit. I'm going to start weighing in on Fridays.

    Then its maintaining. I have a terrible habit of gaining everything back.
    I'm thinking about getting a couple people I can text on my phone when I have cravings, and be like a weight coach with each other.
    Did that for my friend once, and it went verrryyy well. :]
  • I'm going to try and lose 1 - 2 lbs a week until I reach my goal :]
    I usually lose 7 lbs or more after a week of dieting and the lbs goes down gradually each week.
    I'm not looking forward to the maintaining part. When I was 140 lbs, I managed to lose 14 lbs but I gained it all back! ¬.¬
    I have 98 lbs to lose so I better toughen up on maintaining my weight when I meet my goal weight because I don't want to gain all of the 98 lbs back on!

  • I was 301 on Monday and Im hoping for a steady 1-2 pound loss until I hit 170 or under.

    Today was WI day for me. I had a really good 1st week- down 8 pounds! I'm so excited! That helps my average for those weeks when nothing will happen. Yay! I love the first WI!

    What days do y'all WI?
  • Way to go on losing 8 pounds! The first week of diet is always the best because you usually lose a good amount of weight :]
    I weigh in Mondays so tomorrow is my first WI. I hope to see a good loss!

  • I set goals a little differently. I WANT to lose 1 pound/week, but I know that even if I do everything right, that might not happen.

    Instead, my goals are about levels of exercise and eating that should get me to that goal. The difference I see is that I have control over my behavior, but not over what the scale actually does and I don't want to get demoralized if it doesn't cooperate with me.
  • Heather, I agree with you. I feel the same way because I know that there are going to be some weeks when you don't see a loss on the scales even though you have been OP and exercising. The important things for me are doing plenty of exercise and staying OP. Once I fit in size 12 jeans, I will know that I've accomplished my goal! :]

  • I have been trying to lose about a pound a week. Some weeks I lose a little more, and some weeks I don't. Since June, I have lost about 30 pounds. This seems like a good site. Good luck to everyone!
