I want to sign up for the blc but don't see where, can someone point me to it?
I am still sick from the last weeks deal, this congestion is just hanging on forever. To top it off, I burnt my fingers on my iron while refilling the water chamber. I sure do take my hat off to serious burn victims, how they cope with such intense pain is beyond me.

Hi Ladies

I think I am still reeling after yesterday marathon walking session and my body is rebelling. I was unable to sleep until the early hours this morning so hence woke up a shade after 10am feeling a little frayed around the edges. I am a wee bit better with coffee and food inside.

Been to pick up my prescription today from the doctors well my DH did that whilst I ordered lunch and coffee. I had chicken with salad and a few chips :yikes: i forgot order to order a jacket potato instead of chips (i think you call them fries). So needless to say I did not eat many of those. Though the chicken breast was big enough with the simple salad to more than fill me. I will not be eating much a tea now I think just some fresh fruit or a cup of soup.

Just had to stop posting but I have had a man round to see if we have the correct insulation in the loft and cavity walls. Our loft is correct but walls needs filling. So in the new year they will be done for free as I have the correct benefit from being registered for disabled. So I wonder what a difference it will make to the fuel bills which have risen very sharply due to fuel increase.

My thoughts today are with a friend who is at a funeral today of her BIL whom passed away about a week ago. Such a sad time and just before Christmas as well. She has such a busy schedule today so by tonight I know her walking will be effected as she has a steel rod and metal work along her spine. About 16 years ago she had an accident at work which caused this accident when a slot machine fell on top of her. She used to come and collect the money from these machines at pubs. If she is on her feet for long hours she begins to limp very badly and pain level increases. Not only that the weather is cold and damp which always make it worse for her.

azcyn Good for you on your office party for being mindful of the food you ate. It is hard I know with all the goodies on offer.

gggirls I hope you managed to get your hour of exercise in as planned. Like me I have to plan my food menu else I tend to go haywire flying by the seat of my pants. It is a sure fire way for me to over eat by not planning. If it is planned I know want I am having for every meal and snack. Not only that I know that it is not too calorie ladened for that day either.

dgramie Again nice to hear positive news this afternoon on reading your post about your brother. I really hope that he is alert enough today to come off the ventilator. Though as you say getting off the ICU is a big step in the road to recovery.

Good news also that the scales are going in the right direction. It sound like the culprit may have been sodium for the weight gain so hopefully another drop will be seen in a days time.

Americaninuk glad to hear that you are on the road to recovery and the antibiotics are not making you feel like death warmed up.

I wish I had a better before picture of myself but I was more than camera shy at the time. Even if you feel that you can not post on the site till later down the line trust me you will love to see how far you have come it is a great motivator.

Sound like moving to the UK did have at least one plus keeping you away from those goodies. Though I am sure we have just as evil ones lurking around the corner to taunt you at the drop of a hat.

CatherineM It is so good that your university is understanding to your needs and have accommodated that. It is very difficult coming to terms with your limitations both physically and mentally. I am not sure how long ago you had the brain injury? Though it can take up to two years for new pathways to be created to link up different areas of the brain to take of the work of the injured part of the brain.

I have some neurological damage to my brain from scarring from the nerves covering dying obviously it can effect mobility. Though recent studies have shown that it also effects us cognitively, emotionally and memory wise. It will be interesting to hear more about study into this area. The brain to me is an interesting organ that we yet do not know that much about but slowly are getting to know.

Debbie54 Yes I think he is cute but there again I am bias big time. It sound like you are having a great time with your family enjoying the lead up to Christmas.

I have my parents coming in a few days time well Christmas eve to be exact so a few days yet. So gradually getting ready slowly for their arrival so not all last minute. Trying to plan nice menu with nice goodies but not calorie ladened and healthy. I have to plan carefully as my father is diabetic and my mum can not eat oranges in any shape or form.

dogpal Your are experiencing the same trouble that I had at the size you were that clothing just got big with only a few wears out of the garment. I use to be so shocked at the fact I had not long bought it and it looked brand new and I was too small for it. Hopefully I am now at a size 14 things will last a wee bit longer as I have not got many pounds to go to be at a healthy BMI well 11lbs to be classed as health. I would like to get to 160lb to be honest. Thought that might be a step to far but we will see what I have in store for me.

Time to go and make a coffee my throat is so dry one of the side effects from all my medication is dry mouth. Catch up with you soon

My mom just called and my brother had to have 2 units of blood this morning. His surgeon was in and is not happy with his progress. He thinks the repair surgery was a sucess but isnt sure what is going on. HE has the other specialist looking into things as well. Guess we should know more later today. They are still talking about trying to get him off the vent today. The longer he is on it the harder it is on his body.

Even though i am upset I will not eat junky foods today!!! I will stay on my diet plan!!!
just wanted to let yall know what is going on..
hugs and keep sending up the prayers

voodoo1 12-18-2008 12:57 PM

Debbie54 12-18-2008 01:35 PM

Americaninuk, ok, I've signed you up. It will run from January 1st til March 29th and we'll have to weigh in by Sundays so I can post who the biggest loser is for that week on Mondays. If you weigh in on a different day, you can still use that weigh in day, but just post it by that Sunday. If you have any more questions just let me know and I'll try and answer them the best I can. It's my first time doing this, and I just thought it would be fun for all of us.

Debi, that's wonderful that your brother is doing so much better. Hopefully he will be out of ICU pretty soon and back to normal. That's great too that you've stayed on the straight and narrow with your eating. I would of been a mess I'm afraid. Keep pumpin that water!!!
Just read your second post so I'm kicking up the prayers for him. I hope they can find out whats going on with him quickly and he can get off of the vent. Hugs!!

Annie, the party was so nice!! The owners of the company are just so sweet and they even give the women of the working men, little ornaments. The food was great, didn't go overboard either. Jim got a bonus of $1000 this year so that really helps out alot. We've got at least 2 feet of snow. Our county got slammed the hardest. It's the most snow they've had here in 20 years! We still have my son and dil staying with us and for now, no end in sight for the snow. It's just gorgeous outside! Where we live we are the only ones back here since we live at the end of the street so, so much of the snow is flawless and just looks like a sheet of white. The trees are all laden down with snow too. Just beautiful!!
I've got you on my BLC list!

Toni, I've got you on my list!!! I'm the one doing the BL challenge!
How's the fingers feelin'?

Purple, your so lucky to have time to plan and clean before your family comes!! My son and dil were sort of a spur on the moment thing. Thank goodness the house wasn't in too bad of shape. Sounds like the menu planning will be key for you and your family to make sure everyone gets the proper meals so they don't have any side effects.

Hi Sharon, good to see you!

Well, still snowing and getting ready for another storm to hit. Have to get to the store today for my parents since they are running out of food!! Its beautiful to look at but so dangerous to be driving in but we just take it slow and easy. We've seen so many spin outs and abandoned cars on the side of the roads. I also feels so sorry for the lost animals outside. I just want to take them all in.
Have a wonderful day ladies!
Debbie

Baz xo 12-18-2008 01:47 PM

Hello ladies :D

I am sooo tired! I have finished school for the holidays and I went shopping today with Michael. Spent £80 on presents for Michael and the parents BUT I'm going shopping again tomorrow. On a Black Friday. AHHH!! :dizzy:

Annie ~ Thank you. I felt a lot better after the NSV because it shows that I can be successful on the weight loss journey once I start it after Christmas. :D

Mam!! ~ I didn't persuade you to come back on 3FC just to post something small once a week. LOLOL.

Purpleorc ~ I'm sorry that you had to give up nursing for your condition. It must have been world-destroying, as you say that you loved nursing so much. At least you're coping well with the MS. :)

Sorry! I meant Diana but for some reason, I thought she was called Alice(?) I loved her voice but it wasn't right for the songs she sung. I hope she will be able to find songs that will suit her voice, or better still, write her own songs.

Zelma ~ Sounds like you have a very busy holiday planned! I'd love to go to those places but maybe one day when I'm married to someone rich, haha.

Carol ~ Happy birthday! Sorry that it's late. I hope you had a smashing day.

Debbie ~ Thank you for the kind words! I'm feeling pretty proud too, and I hope that it will be easier to lose weight than I thought. I have about 90 lbs to lose so that shouldn't be so bad. :)

Sharon ~ Ok, will tell mammy that she's so naughty. Well done on the 3.5 lbs loss!

Laters.

Beth

CatherineM 12-18-2008 02:29 PM

I'm having a cranky day. It's too cold (-22) to do anything outside, and my pool is closed until January. I actually threatened to take my portable disc golf target and go play in the pedway. That's the heated underground walk ways down town leading between the subway and buildings. The primate I live with vetoed that idea. He said I'd end up on the news and then in a holding cell because that area is all covered by video cameras. He is such a drag at times. I'm going to get out my putter and see if I can dimple the hallway walls.

AmmiUK 12-18-2008 05:37 PM

Hello All,

I am feeling rough today. My Sweet's Syndrome is flaring and along with the ugly lesions I have flu symptoms, heck sometimes it even feels like I have arthritis because of it. So add to that that I have sciatica and am having a serious bad hair day and you can imagine how rough I feel.

But the good news is that despite feeling so yuck, I've not taken comfort in food. And believe me, there is plenty of yummy food here to tempt me. So yay me.

Catherine - I always said you have an amazing way with words, and you have proved it yet again. I want to thank you for what you said about my coming back here, even though I'm not even dieting and that I've put back on so much weight that I had lost. I am determined to give my weight loss my all in the new year, and coming back here is already being a help to me.

Sharon - I am not naughty because I bought you something lol. You are naughty for chasing around trying to find me something! Seriously I never expect anything in return!! Well done on you losing 3 and 1/2 lbs, it's such a shame they didn't do the loser of the week in your slimming group because of the party. Oh well I'm sure you will win it again soon enough. I think you are amazing being back on track this close to Christmas. Well done you!!

Beth - how is this, is this post long enough to be worthy of your nagging lol. You wait til the new year, I'll be making people fed up of my waffle, including you lol.

Debbie - see I'm off the Wii long enough to post lol. Got to say Animal Crossing is soooooo addictive. I promise I'll email you soon, definitely over the weekend if not tomorrow.

PurpleOrc - pleased to meet you too. Where in the UK are you? I loved the photos of your dog. My DH used to have a Staffy and he broke his heart when she died.

Debi - what marvellous news that your brother is improving daily. Do you think he'll be home in time for Christmas?

Annie - my friend, how are you doing? I remember a time when you didn't post here much, and now look at you, you are the new queen of the board. And you are definitely the queen of weight loss. Nearly 300 lbs, that is AWESOME :carrot: I am so proud of you.

To everybody I haven't mentioned, hope you are all having a great day. Take care and from one big fatty to all you wonderful 'losers' keep up the great work.

Hugs,

Ammi

Thank you Annie for asking about me. I am around, but not doing very well. I've had some health issues as of late and I am still trying to figure out a good balance. I will try to post more as I feel better.

Hugs to all of you, and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you as well.

RealCdn 12-18-2008 08:03 PM

Hey all,

I will come back and post more later, but I just wanted to say hello. I'm finished my exams (just got my grades today... and they're great) and now I'm in full fledged 'catch up mode', including some cooking stuff. I've got to run (I'm going out for something for my mother before the storm we're supposed to get shows up), but I will come back and try and catch up a little. Two personals before I go though:

Debi - I'm so sorry to hear about your brother's problems. I do hope they get him off the vent soon.

Debbie - I'm in for January, as long as it's just the gals here.

I hope everyone else is good, but I will definitely come back tonight and do a few more personals and ramble on for a bit.

RealCdn 12-18-2008 10:38 PM

Okay, I went out and did my errand. We're supposed to be having a winter storm tomorrow. You know, blowing wind 8-12 inches of snow and such. I did some grocery shopping this morning (and errands) but my mother had a call from the doctor late afternoon and needed a prescription. So I decided to be a dutiful daughter and go pick it up for her. Nah, I just didn't want her asking me to go out in a storm tomorrow. Of course, this means that we probably won't get a storm tomorrow, but it really doesn't matter.

I'm finished for the semester (last exam almost a week ago) and I got my grades today. I did very well, like really well, so I'm very happy about that. I took a week off tracking / planning / counting last week, with an idea of eating maintenance calories. It was officially a year since I'd gone back to the weight loss mode and I think I was feeling a little burnt out. I don't think that I ate a huge amount of calories but it was definitely skewed away from my usual higher protein diet, including some Christmas baking. Oh, and a large amount of alcohol on Saturday night (party at the neighbours). I weighed in Sunday about 9 pounds higher than the week before, but then dropped 8 pounds in two days (so definitely water). So, this week I'm back to the usual routine, and feeling better about it, so the break was a good thing.

Overall I'm spending less time on the computer, but still following (basically) my plan for diet and exercise. I still update my blog daily (and a training log I keep on another site). Around the last couple of weeks of the semester it was actually the exercise that became a problem, the food seemed to be okay. I've popped into the forums from time to time, but for whatever reason have been reading here and there, but not posting much. Although I will likely spend a little more time here over the next few weeks, I suspect I'm really kind of going into lurk mode for a while, perhaps a long while. I have enjoyed catching up a little reading the threads, but if I keep playing catch-up I'll likely never post. On the personal catch-up, the freezer is getting a little empty, so I'm also spending my break time doing some cooking (lunch stuff, soup, etc.). So, a few more personals and then off to bed I go.

Purpleorc - I'm glad to see you posting more. Just having someone else around that is almost at her goal is very inspiring. It helps to know that some of us really do make it.

Sharon - I've learned in the past that lurking when you're off plan can be brutal. Please, let the ladies help you get back on track. Lurking when busy is one thing, but lurking when off plan can be dangerous. Good luck with the holiday parties, they can be pretty rough to keep on track during.

Annie - every time I look at your ticker you're slowly going down. Congrats! I definitely couldn't do such early mornings for work. Best of luck on the job search in the new year.

Catherine - take the accomodation if you end up in the same situation. There's no shame in it, although I do think I understand why you don't want to do it. Congrats though on passing the course, and good luck next semester. I admit that I kind of miss being in school (but I won't tell my fellow students that in January), and I'm looking forward to going back.

Carol - I tend to want to be a couch potato in bad weather myself. I've been trying to make a point this week to get up and at least move around the house. Some days it works, some days it doesn't.

To those I've missed, how about a  as I head off. I admit that sometimes I find the personals the hardest to do. Once I start with one person I feel like I have to do everyone. And I just don't have the time anymore. Anyway, I do hope that everyone is having a reasonably decent holiday season, and that you only eat what you choose to eat... not what your body wants you to eat. I admit that I struggled today and ended up eating far too many calories in cookies this afternoon (although still within my calories). It left me very hungry waiting for dinner, something I usually try and avoid. I've managed to give most of the cookies away... I'm hoping to get rid of all of them in the next few days. Out of sight, out of my mouth! :)

Americaninuk 12-19-2008 07:31 AM

I had my interview this am. I think it went really well, but I wont know anything till tues or wed. they are interviewing today and monday.

didnt sleep a wink last night .. was too nervous, so gonna have a bite to eat and hit the hay.. hope everyone is doing well today:)

Jacquie668 12-19-2008 09:54 AM

Hey ladies... :D

Well...I was brave and went to the Avenue store and this was the first time I've set foot in a clothing store in like 6 years...maybe more! I felt like an alien, shifting my eyes around, but I managed to buy a few things. I didn't try anything on, not there yet, but you know I really enjoyed the experience. I have to go back and return a bra I got, too small, but no worries. I did purchase an "inspiration skirt" that is two or three sizes too small. I love it and am going to make it a goal to fit into it!

:D :D :D :D

WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

You know buying lingerie, another new experience for me, really makes you feel good. :D

purpleorc 12-19-2008 10:58 AM

Hi Ladies

My trigeminial neuralgia is playing up today and is painful to say the least. I dare not move my head downward without getting a searing pain shooting up my face. Hopeful the second lot of medication I have taken will quieten down the attack. I have had twinges but not an attack as severe as this for ages.

Just had my daily walk to try and introduce the bodies natural pain killer to kick in. Oh boy there is a biting wind that catches you despite being wrapped up to the hilt. Did enjoy the walk until the walk down my road where the wind was facing me. I am tired now after the walk the first I have done in a bit after my recent relapse I had a couple of weeks ago. So was nice to stretch my legs a wee bit.

I have my last Christmas whist drive to attend tonight in a small village not far from my training hospital that I commenced my nursing career. It is a beautiful setting this village over the river Trent with boats moored up.

Must very shortly go and put the dinner on as we are having a cooked tea today rather than at lunch time as I normally do. We are having meatballs with pasta today. I have been planning my Christmas menu to have over the Christmas period. So I know what items to get when I go shopping on Monday. I would normally go on the Tuesday but that is going to be a rather busy day with the oxygen therapy in the morning followed by my BIL works party.

dgramie Thanks for the progress report on your brother. I hope your family finds out more went he other specialist takes a look at him. You still remain in my thoughts and prays.

Try and stay strong and keep on plan. It is difficult at this time of year at the best of times never mind the added stress and worry that you have had.

voodoo1 Congratulation on the weight loss and the plan not to be naughty over the holiday period. It is good to have those plans for the future difficult times in place.

brandnewme Sorry to hear that you are under the weather at the minute. I wish you a speedy recovery and to get to the bottom of your health issues

Baz xo  Yes it was hard to give up the job I loved and expected to be in until I retired. Though I must admit it has made me a better person for having this condition and opened my eyes to the world of the disabled person. I have found that here on this site I can still use my experience and knowledge of nursing to use which is nice to help others once again in a different capacity.

RealCdn Nice to meet you. I see your gradually moving towards your goal very steadily losing health amounts each week. I am sure that you will soon be knocking on the same door as me. It has surprised me how fast it has gone losing 1lb to 2lb a week which doesn't sound a lot but oh boy does it all mount up.

Americaninuk Glad the interview went OK. :crossed: that you are successful. You will have to let us know how you go on.

Jacquie668 Good for you for going into that clothing shop. Though I know how you feel for me it still remains strange that I can go into "normal" shops rather than ones for "big" ladies. I still feel like a fish out of water have very little dress sense after years of having what fits rather than what suits as you did not have that choice at my HW.

Inspiration skirt is great I had a pair of jeans of which I have just made into with a bit of wiggle room now. Nice to try on and see how far you have got to go.

Off to put lunch in so by for now and take care. I hope I have said hello to everyone, but my PC is acting strange and not seeing all the posts in the right order. I can see this by checking DH screen. I suspected something was up so asked him to check. Hmm I can see a reformat to coming on. :yikes: I am not keen on doing this job as it takes a wee while to put all the things on that I use.
