300+ Weekly Thread #1180

:welcome:

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!

Hey peeps...I hope your weekend was good. Mine was not and I am thinking about posting my first thread about it, but I dunno. I'm still really shy about talking about my feelings and such.

Anyhow, today is a new day and yay for Mondays lol. Scale seems down for me, but I'm not sure. I think I need a new scale. Mine is a bit funky at times so I'm not 100% sure if I've lost or not. I'll get a new scale this evening and see. :D

ToniLight 10-13-2008 10:15 AM

Jacquie, Sorry you had a bad one, It's important to talk to someone about how you feel, whether it be here or elsewhere, getting those feelings out helps to solidify our feelings if that makes any sense. Sometimes I don't really know how I feel until I voice it and work through it vocally.

dogpal - I live in Nevada... Good luck with your schooling /career path. What an exciting time for you. I hope the waterfit classes start back up for you.

dgramie - How is the tooth feeling? I hope your dentist appointment went well.

Bumblebee08 - Congrats on meeting your first goal!!! :carrot:

Debbie54 - Sorry the maze made your feet hurt, but at least you got in an hour of walking! :D Mmm Homemade jam is awesome. I only just learned to make the freezer type this summer. I used agave instead of sugar and used less than it recommended to make a lower calorie version. So good!

brandnewme - I hope your doc can help you get a handle on the issues you discovered at your health fair.

cfmama - Congrats on not giving in to temptation!

voodoo1 - Sorry about your family loss.

jeniansmom - What is the song you sing to yourself? :D Congrats on dropping another 1.5!! I totally understand about not wanting to draw attention to yourself while making these changes.

Jacquie668 - I hope your week is better. Ugh! Don'tcha just hate it when you can't tell what's going on because of a wonky scale. Let us know which scale you get. Finding a good one can be a hassle.

We had our third night of hard freezing. The tomatoes , carrots and onions have been plucked. Still have a few tomatoes out there to see what happens and the green peppers as they weren't even remotely ready to be harvested. The Pumpkin Patch is hanging in there, but the basil is a goner. The weather people claim that it will warm back up. We'll see. :dizzy:

In personal/weight news My weight has popped up a few pounds which is freaking weird considering how diligent I've been with food and exercise. :?: But then again I've had what I think is a period much sooner than I should have. :/ (Kinda hope it was so I don't have to deal with it when I fly back from my trip.) So not really sure what is going on there and I have been retaining water like crazy. My face looked really puffed out and weird yesterday. It could be stress that I've been dealing with lately or maybe my body adjusting to the healthy changes I've made lately or allergies/sinuses that have bothering me the last few days. Either way I hope it stops and gets settled out soon. Grr. Stupid uncooperative body.

I'm just going to keep working out and eating healthy and see if all this works itself out.

dogpal 10-13-2008 01:28 PM

Jen: I hope your DH feels better soon. Congrats on being down another 1.5 pounds! Excellent.

Carol: Okay girlfriend, the pictures of you and Ed are beautiful. I am soooo impressed with the heels on your shoes. I would trip and fall flat on my face. You look amazing!

Jacqui: So sorry that you had a bad weekend. Hugs.

Bunny: I used to live in Folsom CA near Sacramento and we would go to Reno/Sparks once a month or so to have fun at the casinos and going over the pass, Truckee was sometimes scary. Our leader for weight loss suport group on Tuesday nights grew up near Jackpot I think. Either way it gets pretty cold.

Well, It is 10:24 and I have been home from work for about an hour and done nothing but check emails and be on line. Time for me to go exercise. lol. I hope you are all doing wonderful and having an op butt moving day.
Blessings,
Annie

cfmama 10-13-2008 01:58 PM

Jaquie- I'm sorry about your bad weekend... it happens. Pick yourself up and keep going!!!

Well I'm down 18 lbs ;) I KNOW the weight won't always come off this fast but I'm eating a decent amount of cals (1800 or so) and all healthy foods and fats so I'm not worried about how fast it's coming off. It's nice to get a good jump on things. Now to resist temptation once more at dinner tonight. Pumpkin pie ... I'll be happy once thanksgiving is OVER.

gggirls 10-13-2008 02:43 PM

Annie - you're so sweet - thank you for the nice comments. It had been years since I had wore heels like that - it felt good. I wish I could have got a pic of Ed and me together - he had a new suit and I bought the shirt and tie without him - went completely out of his safety zone with a yellow shirt and baby blue and yellow paisley tie - he looked great! I guess we'll just have to get dressed up again soon.

Move your bodies, drink your water and SMILE

Hugs to all,
Carol

going to lose 200 10-13-2008 04:15 PM

Hi everyone
Just a note to say Happy Turkey Day to all the Canadians. I'm on my way to get weighed in at TOPS. Expecting to be up tonight. TOM is a butthead and major cramping along with a touch of the stomach flu
Talk soon

ToniLight 10-13-2008 05:06 PM

cfmama, That happened to me too, I usually eat around 1400 cals, sometimes more, sometimes less. I lost goodly amounts too but wasn't too worried about losing fast as I know it will slow down also. As I started at 379, it took major calories just to maintain that weight and when I switched my eating habits to more healthy choices, I really wasn't that hungry for more. I wasn't able to exercise at all when I started and am now able to do a little.

I didn't win. My husband's best friend nipped me on the last hole. He bounced a throw off a tree into the basket. Totally lucky. I did beat himself, but he didn't mind because we had such great fun. He's ready to go again. I walked twice as far as I normally would have simply because my mind was occupied. I wore my boots, and used the ice spikes on my crutch for traction going up and down the hills. My spikes accumulated enough leaves that I had to clean them every hole, but I didn't mind. The weather was very fall like, but sunny and beautiful. I highly recommend it. It's free, and addictive.

Hello Ladies,

Well, I had all these lofty ideas about doing personals...but it won't happen today. I promise I've read all your posts and I'm cheering everyone on! :-)

Carol - I love that dress! You look great in it. Where did you get it? I want it!!! I have JUST the right red necklace, red shoes and red clutch to match.

I have exciting news!

* Bought 2 Leslie Sansone videos. The one I rented from Netflix, 30 min 2-mile walk, was too advanced for me. I worked out 15 minutes and then collapsed. It was demoralizing. So, I got a DVD that has a beginner workout (20 min 1-mile walk); did the whole 20 minutes on Sunday. The rental was probably a better workout but it was so demoralizing to be so winded and not be able to catch up!!! It totally made me not want to work out. Now I KNOW i will finish the workout; somehow that makes a difference in my psyche. And, the DVD I bought has a 2-mile and a 3-mile walk in addition to the 1-mile one. It's good to know I have options as I get fitter.

* The second DVD I bought is Leslie's "You can do Abs," featuring the exercise ball. Took myself to storage this weekend, found my exercise ball, and spent the evening tonite pumping it full of air (that in itself is a workout!!). Tomorrow I do the 1-mile walk and the abs video plus push-up training. My goal is to exercise 30 minutes a day. If I don't, I won't be able to meet my goal this month. Alternating 30 min bike one day and then the walk/abs videos the next will help me get there. I am SO thrilled!!!!

* Despite all my depressive ways I've managed to not binge. And, I'm staying in touch with my body's hunger cues and cravings. The result is good meals full of healthy ingredients, day in and day out. Recovery is such a good thing.

* This coming Sunday I start on Seasonale - 3-month-cycle BC pills. This means I get a period every 12 weeks. I hope I don't have any adverse reactions to this pill. If I can manage to not PMS but 4 times per year, then I will only have 4x per year when I to go through the horrible emotional lows that render me almost suicidal when I PMS. Wish me luck.

* I go see my shrink on Wednesday. I hope I get an Rx from him this week. I want the old me back!!! And, I'm sick of crying and feeling powerless all the time.

* Today is my official WI. I've lost 1# since I last weighed in on Thursday. Wohoo!

OK, I think that's it. Have a great OP week everyone!!!

dgramie 10-14-2008 06:51 AM

This is my first post in the weekly thread, so hey everyone!

Congrats on becoming a grandma, dgramie!!!

dogpal 10-14-2008 10:32 AM

Morning all,

I had to be at work today at 4:45 and only had to work for an hour. That actually stunk to have to get up so early just for an hour but I will take it. lol. Tomorrow we have to be there at 4 a.m. and prob work until 9ish. The holiday for mail messes them up big time.

CF: Congrats on being down 18. What an awesome wonderful start! You go girl.

Carol: You are so beautiful and you should realize it!

Brenda and other Candian Sisters: Happy Thanksgiving to you all! Brenda: Feel better soon.

Catherine:It sounds like you had a great time!

Mimi: Glad that you got yourself some workout videos. Awesome plan hun. Congrats on being down another pound. Good luck with the Dr. I hope she/he is able to help you soon.

Debi: Woooooo hooooo! Congrats on your new grandbaby! Please get your tooth fixed asap. You can get really sick with a bad tooth! Sorry you are up some too. It will surely drop off quickly.

Firedust: Welcome! I'm so glad to see you and can't wait to get to know you better. Post as often or not as you like. Don't stress about keeping up with all of us chatter boxes if it is not your thing. Just come and see us some times and let us know how you are doing.

Well, I am doing some research on schools in the area. I have decided to go get my first ever massage today! I have never had one except dh's massages. So, this will hopefully be a pleasant experience. I am having it done by a student at the school I'm thinking about attending. It is in about 3 hours so I want to do some situps, pushups and at least the stepper then jump in the shower before I go. I am also going to be doing some other errands in Coeur d' Alene this morning before coming home to do the rest of my exercises.

I hope you all have a fantastic day!
Blessings,
Annie

Bunny 10-14-2008 11:11 AM

dogpal - The Donner Pass is scary. Of course I always think about Cannibalism when I'm up that way. Never want to get stuck up that way over night. Spooky! *L*

I hope the massage is a fun experience for you. :D

I have a bunch of work to do this morning/afternoon. I'm hoping to get a workout in before I go teach a craft class later. This whole week seems like it is rushing by and it's only Tuesday. o.0
