Default Beginning again...

Hey guys...I found this website today and think its fantastic. I have started a diet once again, this time on the recommendation of my doctor. My heart is enlarging and my cholesterol is up. Currently, I am doing to South Beach Diet (on day 6), but I am thinking of switching back to WW (which I have been doing off and on - mostly off - for the last 7 years). I am looking for TONS of encouragement! My hubby is on board and willing to help me through this all - but that's the end of my support. The rest of my family (mainly my mom and brother) just doesn't get why I have a problem losing weight and constantly criticizes me about it, while complaining their legs are too skinny. I am 28 and looking to have a baby sometime soon, but know I will need to lose some weight first.

Hi Jewels! We're pretty close in age (I'm 27) and I too am trying to get healthy to ward off those health problems that come with obesity... and I'll be wanting children someday soon too, so it's double important.

Best of luck as you begin your journey. I'm a South Beach girl, so if you decide that is the program for you, I would be happy to recipe swap!

Firedust - Thanks! I am sticking with SB. Unfortunately, after one week of Phase one I got very sick. Rapid heartbeat, shaking, etc. from low blood sugar. So...I added one carb a day and I am feeling better. However, I have only lost 6lbs in 2.5 weeks, when it would have been more if I'd been able to continue with Phase I. A family member and friend have had a baby in the past couple of weeks, which has made me all the more motivated to hurry up and lose the weight so I can also get pregnant.

6.5 pounds is wonderful! That is 6.5 pounds that you will never have on your body again!

I'm glad that you have found a good way to balance SB and your blood sugar. I already feel like I am sleeping better and I have more energy now that I am not shoving my body full of icky stuff all the time.

I hear you about people having babies, I just threw a baby shower this weekend for a friend and my YOUNGER cousin is having a baby here in a few weeks! We will get there though, the best thing we can both do right now is focus on getting healthy!

to 3fc site here you will find a host of information which you will find helpful on your journey of weight loss.

It is good that you have your DH (husband) on board while you lose weight. I have been fortunate to have my DH support me along the way and it has been invaluable for those tough moments when you need a little extra support.
