hello ladies,
i was just wondering what kind of birthcontrol everyone is on? ever since they came out with the new stuff about the pill not working as well for bigger chicks. my dr. is pushing for the depo shot but the side affects kinda scare me.
DH had a vasectomy after baby #3. I put on tons of weight with depo. And got pregnant with #3 while on it. Apparently that is rare. But if it is rare it happens to me!
I am on Yasmin. It has some pretty intense side effects but i am dealing with it and basically happy on it. My ob told me that even though i am heavy BC should be effective as long as i am not on a "lite" dose...meaning one of the newer pills that are lower in hormones. If you are wanting the pill, i would just ask her for a pill that has a high hormone content to balance out the weight/effectness issue.
**** **** **** JULIA NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lmao i was just in houston. i live like 90 miles from there and i'm always up there going to concerts... got ok so i'm getting pregnant this summer, i expect a darn good babyshower gift from you!!!! haha
hey stacy, thanks for replyin...yeah i'm ganna go soon and i will def. ask!
I was on OrthoTriCyclin Lo, and it was all fine, but I was still having heavy periods (naturally predisposed, yaaay me). So, now I'm on LoEstrin and it does the same thing but with lighter, shorter periods. Of course, I'm not on it for birth control, I had ovarian cysts when I was 17, so this is to prevent those, but I decided I'd post b/c I haven't had any bad side-effects. No weight gain or anything, so these are pretty cool, I guess.
I was on Levlen/Levora or Orthocyclen since I was 16. Like cephalopod, I was put on them to prevent cysts (emergency surgery for a 10-inch ovarian cyst a week after I turned 16--I now only have 1 ovary).
When I went to the gyn last month, I had high blood pressure, so she said I couldn't be on those pills anymore and, instead, put me on a pill with no estrogen. However, when I read the little insert in the new pill pack, it said ovarian cysts may be a side effect of this pill So I will be going to a new doctor as soon as my new insurance starts next month to get a second opinion.
I was told I could go on Depo, but aside from the fact that I HATE needles/shots, I have heard a lot of stories of people gaining a LOT of weight on it. The doctor said only about 5 pounds is normal, but I've read that it causes you to feel hungrier than normal, so it can cause you to overeat. So while the actual drug doesn't make you gain weight, it can cause you to feel the need to eat more, and I know I don't need that when I'm trying to lose weight! I'm sure it doesn't affect everyone this way, but with my freakish medical history, I'm sure I'd be first in line with all the side effects
I am also on Yasmin! I highly reccomend it. I was on Tricular but I was not losing any weight on my program. I switched to Yasmin and things started moving again!
i LOVE the shot. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. i have had NO wierd side effects at all. i hate needles but its 2 seconds, every 3 months. the major concern tho is that it does leech calcium out of your bones, so you have to take a calcium suppliment and you shouldnt be on it longer than 2 years.
Was on Ortho low for three months but couldn't handle the emotional side effects. Irritable doesn't quite describe it. It was unpleasant, so I switched to the ring. LOVED it! Convenient, couldn't even feel it, still a little emotional nonsense but much better than the pill. I went off it after four months because of seriously decreased sex drive, so now I'm on the sponge. Sad for me they stopped making them in December but I have enough for a few months. No idea what I'll do after that!
I was on Yasmin for about 4 years before that I was on ortho cept. I was on birthcontrol for a total of 13 years. We are now trying to conceive baby #1. I loved Yasmin no problems.
