What's up with this?
Okay, I have lost 23 pounds so far (YAY ME!!!). Well, I was playing around in my closet and was thrilled to find that things I have not been able to wear in ages now fit or are even a little big. I have noticed that even though I still have a long way to go, I feel alot more confident and happy with my body. Well, I found some shorts that I used to wear all the time and when I tried them on they fit just fine but I felt naked. I can't imagine actually wearing them out. I don't understand this. When I bought them I wore them all the time. It's not like they are indecently short (probably a couple of inches above my knee), but they feel that way. I am a few years older now, so that may be it. It sounds silly but it was a blow to my new found self-esteem. I just don't get it. :?:

I had a similar issue with "fitted" clothes. When I was heavy, I liked baggy stuff - big button down men's style oxfords, baggy tunic sweaters, sweatshirts, big pants. It took me about a year at maintenance to stop feeling weird wearing clothes that "touched my body." When I was heavy, if the clothes touched, they were tight and that was a bad feeling. I had to get used to the feeling that clothes touching just meant they fit well and it was a good thing! I love my little fitted sweaters now, but it was definitely a process to wrap my mind around the new me.
Maybe try wearing the shorts around the house a bit until they feel more "you" again? |
